K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSending out the I-129F tomorrow/today

Good luck, can´t wait for my fiance to send ours (some papers lacking due to trying to be extra careful).

tell me about it. i had to use a little white-out for some things on my packet. nothing huge, but little details that annoyed me/didn't look pretty (numbers written over other numbers, small cross-outs, etc). hope it won't be a problem for them...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSending out the I-129F tomorrow/today
this might just be more for my own sanity, but i am sending off my I-129F tomorrow and have just listed everything in my cover letter of what i'm including in the package. this seems to be my final list (note - ambiguous titles such as "me", "him", and "his sister" are typed as actual names in the letter):

- Payment (check) in the amount of $170.
- I-129F
- I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 19, explanation of meeting in
person/description of relationship.
- G-325A and passport style photo (me)
- G-325A and passport style photo (him)
- Copy of U.S. Passport (me)
- Signed letters certifying intent to marry (me and him)

- Proof of having met in person in the past two years
- 13 various color photographs of us together
- Copy of his passport - related pages with stamps from
immigration upon U.S. entry.
- Copy of my passport, with U.K. visas and stamps from
immigration upon U.K. entry. (see above supplied copy of U.S. passport)
- Copy of Hotel Reservation for us in April 2004

- Proof of ongoing relationship
- Signed letter from his sister acknowledging our ongoing relationship, cohabitation, and engagement.
- Copies of Birthday and Christmas cards to me from him.
- Copies of Thank You notes, Best Wishes cards, Christmas cards, and postcards
from friends and family, addressing us as a couple.
- Copies of various dated invoices, account/bank/university letters, bills, and payslips sent to the same
U.K. address for both of us, as proof of living together in Manchester, England for over a year.
- Copy of Engagement card from his sister and family.
- Copy of engagement ring receipt and diamond inspection sheet in his name.

i really think that's all i can possibly add to this. i have a few extra bits and baubs that would only really be repeating the above, so i have decided not to include them (more cards, photos, etc). does this seem pretty complete to you guys? i can't wait to send this thing out and get rid of some of the stress...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLeaving America?

That brings up another question. If I can´t get citizenship ´cus if I do that I loose my brazilian one (and I don´t want to), what happens if we move to Brasil for a while and then go back to US? I mean, after getting my green card is there something else down the road for me without losing my own citizenship?

how would brasil know you are also potentially a u.s. citizen (when the time comes)? i believe at least that for the u.k., unless you go to a specific government building and denounce your citizenship, you are always one - same with the u.s. people just carry two passports so that getting into either country is simple and always legal.

i could be wrong, but this is what i have previously read accounts of. i guess it's not so easy elsewhere...

Then the NVC forwards your case to the Consulate and the Consulate will send you packet 3.

will the consulate send packet 3 to me or my foreign fiance?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCopies of documents K-1 Visa

I sent colour photocopies done on my print/photocopier at home for the passport stamps with the first set of forms sent in and for my interview I submitted a colour copy of my birth certificate. I offered the official at the embassy it in black and white but he said he'd like the colour one so yes you can do it in colour. I like you, thought it looked better and was easier to read.

same here - i had the option to scan and print colour at home, so i did. any documents with colour got printed that way. i don't see why it would make any difference at all these days.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurestouched?
here's a question. i've seen the term "touched" being used in timelines and i'm pretty sure that means exactly what it says - that the case has been looked at on a certain day for one reason or another. but how do you KNOW you've been touched? does it show up on the uscis.gov case update or something?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 received!

Congrats on the NOA1, now give it 60 to 100 days for NOA2, or somewhere around there. :P

ah since ur profile says verment this quote seems a little high. Vermont is normally 30 to 45 days til NOA2, unless your like me and get a RFE. Congrats on getting to go through the quickest service centre and noa1.

that's exactly what i thought. i am VERY happy to be going through vermont.

thanks everyone!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureslast question before sending off

Hi everyone i just have one question well two, first thing i was wondering about the sending originals it is refereing to stuff like flight tickets and receipts etc they aren't referring to I-129F forms and G-325a....when my fiancee is interviewed does she have to have copies of the I-129F and G-325a or orignials or are oringials sent in at start of application. I'm really confused. last question is does the USCIS excepts personal checks or do they have to be chashier checks? Thanks for your help everyone...i just don't want to mess this up.

i sent copies of everything except what needed to be hand-signed (I-129F, both sets of the G-325a, and letters of intent to marry).

i am sending my fiance an exact replica of the packet i sent out (including copies of the above forms whether he needs them or not) and the originals of reciepts, cards, photos, etc. not sure what he'll need for the interview, so i'm just sending it all. i also have a copied packet for myself as well, just to have on-file.

i sent a personal check.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresusing the system

Two months ought to be plenty of time for your fiance to decide whether she's happy to live here... and that leaves you another month for the marriage.

just disagreeing here - two months isn't enough time for anyone to decide whether the're happy to live somewhere. if anything, the first few months are a happy dreamy vacation. that was merely the case for me when i moved to england for 1.5 years (on a student visa). of course, doing that isn't a viable option for everybody, but it was very much worth it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs it ok to get married while filing the I-129F???

obviously you guys don't get what I'm saying here.
Let say if I get my usc next month and after I get I'm going to apply the I-129F petitioning for my fiance.
Let say six ten month down the road like I said before, we're planning to get married in jan of next year. By that time the I-129F the case might almost be complete. Here's my question, Do you guys want me and my fiance to wait untile after we get married as of next year then file the I-130? We can't wait untile next year to start out the I-130. That's just too long of a wait. With all do respect I'm not trying to lie about it, just that I don't wanna have to start the whole process all over again when the case of I-129 might be at the stage of completion. That could take longer. If you were in my shoes what would you do? Tell them that you got married halfway through process of near completion? and have to start with a new form of I-130?

i've got no advice on this particluar matter, but i'll just say that you should have just written all that as your original post. :)

good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThink i forgot to add the papers needed

Start calling the consulate in July if your fiancee hasn't received the packet by July. They have a bad reputation for not getting these sent out. Once they have scheduled an interview, you can ask them to send a copy of the packet directly to St Luke's Medical Center and pick the packet up there.

is this the case for all countries? i didn't think it took THAT long to get to the next step. i agree with the above poster who said they thought this would be the faster part of the process. damn.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice certificates

Hi everyone,

I am only just at the NOA1 stage, but thought I would start to get everything ready to save time at a later date. I live in the UK andI have applied for my new birth certificate as I only have the short one, and was going to get my Police certificates. How many do I need to get?

I lived in South London until I moved to Leicester 5 years to go to Uni, however I was still registered as living at my parents until 3 years ago. I have now lived in 5 houses in Leicester during the last 5 years, but within the LE2 post code.

Can anyone help me with how to apply/how many I need?

Thank you.

I am pretty sure that you will need a police cert for every place that you lived since turning 16.

Someone else can answer for sure ;)

i do believe it's every country, not address. therefore he'd only need the one for the UK.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPacket 3 recieved...

if so, it seems like our process is going through at lightning speed! i am almost not ready for him to be here so soon! it's fantastic, but it's nearly catching me unprepared! i'm pretty much assuming his interview date after sending in stuff from Packet 3 will still take a couple on months. if it doesn't, i've got a LOT of work to do in a little amount of time with getting rid of boxes out of our basement (where his 'pad' will be). B)

Your keeping him in the basement?????

it's a finished basement, haha. he'll be living better than ME.

i'm assuming it's Packet 3. it came with a letter saying:

"Dear "Beneficiary":

This office is pleased to inform you that it can begin to process your fianceé visa case. Please read and follow all the enclosed instructions very carefully...

Chief Immigration Via Branch"

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS-156
the DS-156 that my fiancé received was in paper form and so poorly-copied that a few of the questions were cropped right off. i told him i'd look on the embassy website to see if he could download a new one and realised that this is the form that SHOULD be filled-out online (to generate a barcode), however there was NO mention of it in his packet about doing so.

now, i've not see the packet at all and he may have missed it, but i wouldn't think so. i am assuming that this form should indeed be filled-out online and we should just replace the shoddy paper ones with new printouts.

would this be the right way to go? why would the embassy not even mention the online version in their instructions, if the barcode is essential for a speedy case?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThis is crazy

no one ever said that the people in Vermont are "getting what they deserve"..i filled in Vermont and have to agree with kim and others...it isn't fair that they have to wait longet then the people on the east coast...how would everyone else feel if they had to wait?? i am sure you would be pissed as well filling and waiting 3 MONTHS till you get your NOA2...while people who file after you on the east coast are getting theres in like a month...just think about being on the other side of the coin before you get a pissy..

LOL! "a pissy" ? I wasn't getting one of those, but thanks for the kind advice.

I understand that the other SCs are slow and that is extremely frustrating and I agree that it's unfair that just because you happen to live in one part of the country vs. another, you should be zoomed ahead or held back for weeks and weeks -- but as someone else suggested (I'm sorry! I forget who!) maybe the solution isn't to slow everything down to align with the slower SCs, but to find a way to speed processing times up elsewhere -- there must be a happy middle between the 3-week Vermont waiting period and the painfully long 3-month waiting times for the others. But, at least in my opinion, the solution is not to backlog Vermont with cases they already approved and sent abroad, even if it would make things equal out among the SCs. That was my point, I'm sorry if it came off soundin' "pissy" ;)

i'm a little confused. we're working on Packet 3 at the moment - is this going to effect us (our NOA2 was received on april 14th)?

Possibly not -- It depends upon when your NOA1 was issued, not your NOA2. If it were issued March 6th or later, you may run into problems. If the NOA1 was issued before March 6th, you should be okay.

the NOA1 was issused april 3rd. so...i guess that's some bullshit right there. great.

oh well, until i get notified of something, i'm trucking this thing along.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMY Case GET RECALL after my Interview APPROVED!!!

The consular just call me and inform me that the embassy will not be able to issue my VISA on this Friday due to the new insturstion that they just received from NVC.

My Interview has approved on last Friday and now they will need to hold on with my case!

The consular told me thst my fiance need to call NVC to check with them on the additional requirement needed from him...

I'm so very very very sad.... in tears when I got this news.... :crying:

I have resign from my work on Monday... and now I do not know what to do...

Just hoping the process will took minimum time to sort it out.

My fiance is online in skype with me while I'm on the phone with the consular...

What a terrible thing to happend at this portion of the process....

ANyone got any help or advice for us? Please...
:crying: :crying: :crying:

See this is just messed up! Why would they do that to someone? I could understand if the petition was not sent to the Consulate yet and then they could recall it. I think they should just let those whose cases are already with the consulates let the consulates handle it rather than send it back. smh

seriously. it seems like WAY more work than it's worth, and the law was always going into effect on march 6th. they should have never sent-on the cases in the first place. i would think that after a visa approval, it would be done and dusted. that's some bullshit.
