PhilippinesManila's CFO Seminar
QUOTE (dustonio @ May 21 2009, 11:18 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
What is the deal with this CFO Seminar for Filipino immigrants? If they have a visa in hand, can't they leave their country? It seems the CFO Seminar is another way for the Philippine government to fleece money from their citizens.

What are the repercussions if my wife attempts to leave for the US without having completed the CFO Seminar?

She can't leave and the immigration in the International Airport in the Philippines will not allow her to pass through and definitely would now allow her to be on the plane. Without the CFO sticker in her passport, visa is useless. She can't fly and meet you. There's nothing we can do but follow the government rules. CFO seminar contains information for the trip, and for the new life that your wife will have with you here in U.S.

PhilippinesCFO required?
QUOTE (diverdon @ May 22 2009, 04:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Great news everyone!!!

We got the visa today thank god.

I am reading post after post about the CFO. That really is her job wacko.gif but Jovelyn in on the ferry from Cebu to Manila. She said they wanted too much for the plane ticket so she would take the ferry. So She asked me to find out all I could about the CFO and Email it to her.

I have found most of the information we need. Just two questions, I have traveled with my fiancee to Singapore, if she did not need CFO for that why will she need it now? I mean she had traveled internationally before she and I ever met and she did a stint of work in Singapore, I know she had to get a CFO for that. Is that old CFO still good? Or do we really need to get another one?

Second question: We have stayed at the Citystate tower Hotel on Mabine st several times and Jovelyn is comfortable there is one of the places to get the CFO handy to that area? If not can you recommend a hotel that is handy to one of the CFO places.

Thanks,
Don & Jovelyn

Did she attend the counseling yet? If she did, all she had to do now is go to CFO, bring her passport with visa in it and also the certificate from St. Mary or Prism where she had her counseling. CFO will just put a sticker on her passport. If she will not have this sticker, she can't travel and get on plane.

If your fiancee hasn't attended the counseling yet, she should go to Prism or St. Mary in Manila. But if she is still in Cebu, she can also attend the counseling in the CFO office located at Osmena Blvd. corner MJ Cuenco. After counseling, she will be directed to CFO to get the sticker.

I had work abroad before also and done Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) several times. This is for Working Visa. Counseling in CFO is different. It is for Spousal or Fiancee Visa. They provide inputs and information about the life here in US; who and where to get some help if we will be in trouble.

Good luck to both of you.

Then you have to file for a Japanese Police clearance. Here's what you should do.

1. Call Japan Embassy and ask what are the requirements in getting Police clearance, just to make sure because there must be any changes. Since I got mine last year. Their number is 63-2-551-5710.

2. Once you have your Manila case number which starts with MNL then you can go to US embassy and get a REQUEST LETTER in order for you to file for police clearance in Japan.

3. After getting a REQUEST LETTER, go to Jap. Embassy located at 2627 Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City, 1300.

4. They will give you a form to fill-up and have you go camp crame for fingerprint and go back to Jap. Embassy and submit all the requirements.

Police clearance processing can take 2 1/2 months to 3 months.

Oooops sorry, correction.........1 1/2 months to 2 months if you file in Japan Embassy in Manila so better do it there.

Happy Memorial Day America!!!

hi Folks...am back! i will just want to share what i have experience lately with XOOM.COM...i sent money last week and when the reciever went there to pick up after 48 hours, the teller in Cebuana Lhuillier said that its on hold and need my permission b4 they can release the money...i was confused that time and i was thinking maybe it was not yet updated from my bank account and so my reciever went back again today,Monday.but then...they teller said that it was already bill out..so he asked when and then they give him the date and time but then it was the same date and time that he was there and told him that the money was on hold...so i called the customer service today and asked whats going on,they promise me to trace it and i will call them again later...i am freaking mad with this service right now...i am using xoom for couple times already and now i encountered this stupid thing...for sure i am not going to use this service again...never.
now i am hanging on here waiting for their answer...
is there anyone here who encountered the same thing like mine?

I just encounter that last night when I sent money to my cousin it is on hold until now. The odd thing is that the other day, I sent money to my family and they got it really fast like after 20 minutes it is already ready for pick up and then yesterday I sent money to my cousin but it is on hold until now. It says in their website that the bank should verify if first. What the heck!!! This is the first time encountering it. It really made me mad and upset.

we are just so excited and want everything done as early as possible yes.gif
thank you VJ Members.

You need to wait for at least 2 weeks after you arrived here in the US to be able to obtain SS number because SSA must see whether you are on DHS system (and their system) already. Otherwise you will be wasting your precious time. You don't have to have SSN to get married... good.gif

Depends, some state requires to have SSN to get marriage license.Better ask your county office first what are the requirements to get marriage license,if don't need SSN,then just apply SSN after you get married, because if you will apply ssn now using your maiden name, you need to come back again at SSA to change it to your married name.

There's no SSN requirement in marriage anywhere in the state. That's the fact. I know most of the vj's here got their SSN earlier before marriage. But in my case, I just got SSN when I started working. I got here, got married, filed AOS without SSN (cuz it is not needed in AOS, but if you want to file for joint bank account then you need SSN, but in my case we didn't file and our proof of relationship during our AOS interview was only 3 wedding photos and credit card and it went good). When I found my job that was the time I filed for SSN and it was great cuz I don't have to go back to SSA to have my name change. But it is up to you when you want, I just shared my experience.

Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"
"Haven't you read," Jesus replied, "that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female, and said, For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

"Why then," they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?"
Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, EXCEPT FOR MARITAL UNFAITHFULNESS, and marries another woman commits adultery."
The disciples said to him, "If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry."
Jesus replied, "Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.

I know it is easy to say that Marriage is sacred but that is the truth.....it is sacred. And I know people divorce their partner for other reason too but BEFORE you DECIDE to get married, "use discernment". If your partner loves God and faithful to God, then you will not end up divorcing your partner. I'm saying you will live happily ever after...of course there will be problems will cross on marriage life but not INFIDELITY if you and your partner know and love God. And that's part of life.
The OP's case is not INFIDELITY......he can work things out.....he can talk to his wife about their sex life and be open to each other. It's all up to him.

blink.gif helpsmilie.gif wink.gif Are you trying to convert me into your relegion?? thanks but THANKS, I have my own relegion and I know about god. I have no plan changing into other relegion. We know people are not perfect;and no matter what type of relegion you have, it can't save you from SIN.

No offense, but you know what? one of the sign if the person is a truly good person...is to respect other people relegion. don't try to push your relegion beliefs to other people.

there are many people who are very relegious but they often cheated thier wives, and they also do gambling etc... not sure why? perhaps they think the more they talk about god the more god will forgive them that's why they are likely doing the bad things. I'm not trying to say you are one of these people. blink.gif

Wooooh.....How many times you read my reply? You misunderstood it. Am I implying you to turn in my religion? I just posted a verse from the Bible where Jesus talks about divorce and share my own opinion about the OP's situation here. I respect all religion....even Islamic, who don't believe that Jesus is God. I respect their beliefs because that's what they believe. Sharing a verse from the Bible about "divorce" is not trying to convince, encourage or push you or people here to transfer in my religion. There's a freedom of choice, freedom of religion and freedom of speech and I respect that. And yes I agree with you when you say "no matter what type of religion you have, it can't save you from SIN." BUT you MISSED this point......Sinners (that's us) can be saved if we repent and if we realize that we are sinners and receive HIM as our Savior and Lord. Repentance is an old English word that describes a willingness to turn from our sin towards Jesus Christ.
You might be thinking again that I'm trying to convince you because I'm talking about Jesus. I am just replying to your message for me. I don't even know your religion. I'm a Catholic and I don't care what's your religion or maybe we have the same religion...I just share my opinion. And by the way it's not "RELEGION" it's "RELIGION". And it's God not god. If you have respect on your God make it a big letter. wink.gif

If the person, has NO other solution and he did everything his best to tried to work out the marriage but never getting better for both of them. then may be a divorce is the ONLY SOLUTION to his problem.

Yeah, "Marriage is sacred" it so EASY as it sound BUT the MAJORITY of PEOPLE TOOK advantages of it..... and it is very common in the Philippines a marriage people have LOVE AFFAIR BESIDES THIER SPOUSE. AND plenty of marriage are broken, plenty of spouse ran-away because of cheating, abused etc. this is not only happening in the Philippines, it is happening in the WHOLE WORLD WIDE.

People CAN DIVORCED if they have a VALID REASON; if your Spouse is cheating you over and over, you can divorce him. if your spouse is emtionally and physically abusive you can divorce him. if you are fell-out of love you can divorce him/her and that's a valid reason. all of that are valid reasons.

ALL PEOPLE wanted to have a long lasting MARRIAGE but some people do not try work harder. also it NEEDS TWO people to have a great and everlasting marriage...OVER ALL PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE, they do what makes them comfortable and happy.

Matthew 19:3-12

Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"

ok, i'll try to make the story short.

my husband fell asleep while he's in the computer. out of my curiosity, i checked his emails and friendster/facebook since he's still logged in.
(i really don't know his passwords.)

i caught that there's a girl sending him nude pictures in his email and calling him "baby".

i felt so disappointed that i confronted him about it. he told me that he never denied that he's already married, and showed some emails from that girl saying"i find married guys more exciting. so i don't care, let's just enjoy baby." i don't know what to feel. (knowing that the girl is also from Philippines)

i told him to give me his passwords, but he won't allow me. saying that he wants to have privacy with his messages. i do trust my husband, but this issue is affecting our married life. i really can't trust the girls around him. am i having some insecurities issue?

i told him that i just want to go back in my home country if he'll just play around. but he won't allow me, instead he promised and assured me not to do anything that would harm our relationship.

i just want it to be fair since he knows all my passwords. but he really won't give me his codes.

am i being over protective or over acting about this?

IS THERE REALLY A THING CALLED PRIVACY BETWEEN MARRIED COUPLE? ARE THERE REALLY LIMITATIONS?

thanks for the advices.

Hi, my husband and I have read your post and we felt sad about your situation. About your question:
IS THERE REALLY A THING CALLED PRIVACY BETWEEN MARRIED COUPLE? ARE THERE REALLY LIMITATIONS?
Our answer is YES, BUT IT IS ONLY ONE. WHEN YOUR PARTNER GO TO THE BATHROOM AND POO! IT MAY SOUND FUNNY BUT THAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT YOU CAN CONSIDER "PRIVACY BETWEEN A MARRIED COUPLE". YOU CAN'T STAND IN FRONT OF HIM WHILE HE'S GIVING A DUMP, RIGHT? SO THAT'S WHAT WE CALL "PRIVACY" THE RESTS ARE SHARED WITH YOUR PARTNER, NOTHING IS SECRET.
Because he refused to give his password to you, he's hiding something even if he loves you so dearly but still he's hiding something. I'm sorry to tell you about that but that's the truth. There's no other reason why he wouldn't give his password.
Our advice to you is to STAY TRUE, FAITHFUL AND LOVING WIFE NO MATTER WHAT. HOLD ON TO YOUR VOWS. MARRIAGE IS SACRED AND HOLY. Pray for him and for your relationship as a married couple. Don't monitor or investigate your husband cause that situation will just get worst. AND THE REST, LEAVE IT TO GOD, HE WILL TAKE CARE OF IT AS LONG AS YOU HAVE STRONG FAITH.

I was reading the posts and one mentioned that she'll need to bring vaccination records to the medical and others don't even mention it. Are they crucial? I figure they're going to vaccinate everyone for everything, records or not, just to cover bases; I would. Does she need to get those from the doc before? Any experiences?
Thank you all very much.

If she had vaccinated before, she should get a vaccination record from the clinic or health center where she got her shot. It is important to bring it at St. Luke's because they will evaluate if she needs another shot or not, and also they can check what type of vaccination she had gotten before. Ask her if she had vaccination before. In my case, I didn't have any vaccinations since birth so I got 5 shots at St. Luke's.

i called up NVC but they said the USEM will assign me a visa number since they will process it, is that how it's supposed to be? i was just surprised to see you were given the MNL # by the NVC

I actually called them twice ^for notification^. . And luckily they gave it to me, twice. YAY! Thanks God. . Very happy indeed, hope to hear from USEM soon. Keep the faith burnin'.

Actually they are right....NVC case number and Manila case number is different. Once the NVC send your case to USEM...the USEM will put your case in their system and assigned you another case number which starts with MNL******** and that would be your final case number that you will use from setting an interview schedule, medical exam, visa interview and so on.

Hi!

Got my manila case number at NVC after calling them. Thanks God.

Q: Is it ok to call USEM now and set up an appointment for an interview without the notification from USEM that they have receive the package from NVC?

Thank you.

You can set up an appointment at USEM if your case is already in their system but if not you need to wait for it. Try to call USEM and check if your case is already in their system. Good luck.

Does it interacts? If so, how? Thanks for the infos.
Salamat din sa lahat ng nag sha share ng "babies" nila:) Nice photos! Share pa kayo!!

Chameleon doesn't interacts with people. They have their own world hehehhe kinda anti-social. My hubby and I just loves looking at him strolling around his terrarium eating some crickets and we pet him for sometime and let him out of his cage. What's the cool part is that when he changes color especially if we squeeze him...he hates that and he turns to another color and it's just so amazing to watch him.

He's a chameleon, one of many types of a lizard. Yeah he looks like half-dinosaur that's why it's fun to watch him. He moves slowly and when he walks it's like he's doing a cha2x dance. I will try to take a video of him walking cuz he really looks funny and maybe I can post it here. And he's a big eater too. He eats fat crickets like seven of them, simultaneously. As you can see he's has big tummy now hehehehehe.

Wow, sana magka chameleon din ako. Thanks for sharing!

You can buy it at any reptile stores. Chameleon is very sensitive, you must have the right amount of humidity and light for him. It is easy to pet a chameleon if we live in Philippines because it's tropical and with high humidity but it's hard here in US. That's why they have their own built-in terrarium. There are terrarium that's ready made in pet shop. But my husband loves building his own thing, and he made a big terrarium with a small chameleon living inside hehehehee. Mr. Green is only 6 inches long excluding his tail. I only measure him from head to butt. biggrin.gif

Ours is not huggable cuz he's so small but he's really fun and by just watching him changing colors make us relax. My husband really spent time making Mr. green his rain forest terrarium and it's so cool. We love mr. green.

I just spoke to a USEM rep and he told me that our case was in the system at Manila. He then told me that we are unable to set an interview date at this time because our case has not been "qualified"?
I asked him how our case becomes qualified and he said he doesn't know but it's standard procedure. He told me to call back in 2 weeks to check on it!!!
What the hell is this?

It means there is no available slot yet......
