Ooooooh that's us! We're so excited to have final started the nail biting process. We just mailed ours out on the 5th priority mail. They received it on the 8th, but still haven't cashed our check and I'm obsessively checking my bank account lol. Come on Noa1!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsExciting News!
Just a bit of exciting news to share :)
I filed the I-129f paperwork on May 11, the NOA-1 was on May 23, and we received notice that the petition was approved and the NOA-2 sent in the mail on June 17!
From what I've read this seems like record time, only 25 days between NOA-1 and NOA-2!!!!
Now we have to figure out what to do about tracking the next steps, preparing the packets, thinking about Interview, etc. etc. We are very pleasantly surprised and excited, as we had no idea that it would go through this quickly.

Thank you kindly Sara and NatPatBen!

I really hope things work out for the best, for everyone here and Sara, (hugs) that has been waiting for so long! Once it is all over you will have your whole life to cherish each other. I always keep that in mind. And in a way appreciate each other in ways most folks can't even begin to imagine!

Hello friends,

I just wanted to update this thread since I have been posting here with you folks too,

As you can see we *Finally* got our NOA2 after 8 months of waiting and hearing ABSOLUTELY nothing at all. I checked the website out of habit after they updated it this month and low and behold we showed up when I put our receipt number in and we are also approved! I wish you all much luck, and never lose hope -- it will happen!

Thanks for listening to me in my struggles and helping me through this difficult time.

Off to the next step!

To answer the second part of your question Allison:

My fiance and I are complete soul mates in every way, we want to be together and know we will have a wonderful life together. A few months ( or a year or two apparently) really is nothing compared to the joy we will have for the rest of our lives together. It is not easy, and emotionally I have my ups and downs mostly cause I miss him like heck, but I am greatful for things like skype and online, so we can still hear and see each other through it all. If you honestly love someone, this patience comes naturally to me at least.

Nothing "special" or different at all in our case, we are two normal folks that love each other more then anything and qualify for this visa in every way, I can't honestly say why its taking so long for us but I just had some kind of form sent to find our status out, apparently it was something we can do since we are late and we have no known errors. I am clueless really on why we have the luck of this blink.gif.

I think that qualifies for a lot of us Cereza, But you know as long as you love and have each other and are there for each other this process only brings us closer and makes us appreciate each other in ways normal relationships can lack at times. I think when I get the phone call from my attorney with the NAO2 in I will feel more joy then someone who won a million dollars! Love is priceless. rose.gif

P.S. Hang in there Sara!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWell, this is not good news.
:(

So, my fiance is in Vancouver right now. Medical exam today and her interview tomorrow. So, she get's to Woking Medical at O'dark thirty this morning. Waits in line. And...They have found a lump in her neck. In her lymph node. They are sending her for an ultrasound tomorrow, two hours prior to her interview time. But they did inform her that she will not be recieving her visa tomorrow. Though, I suppose she cannot really be denied the visa for this reason.

What a double kick in the bag. I'm bummed and worried.

I think the NOA2 is so exciting because after that, you can TALK to people and find out information on your case. It's a huge mystery before then, but afterward you can talk to a person who will say more than 'you're within the normal processing times'. NVC and DOS are extremely helpful, and Embassies usually get back to you in a timely fashion.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSept. k1 vsc filers? Any news?
To answer your question, after NOA2 your file is sent to the National Visa Center. They look it over and then forward it to the embassy of the country of the beneficiary. It typically takes less than a week. Occasionally, files are stuck in what's called AP (Administrative Processing) and it takes longer. AP is mainly additional background checks. You can call the NVC and check up on your case. They'll tell you when it's been forwarded to the embassy and assign you a case number.

Once the embassy has your case, they'll mail out packet 3 with a bunch of forms to fill out and information on how to schedule your medical. You return them, have your medical, and then you'll get packet 4 which contains your interview date.

After your case has arrived at the embassy, you can then call the Department of State to find out updates on your case. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to message me! We're using the London embassy too.

Really guys? I didnt realize this was such a closed club. I know there is a lot of stress here, especially for those without NOA2, and even for some with NOA2. but really . . . when did this group stop being open to others or even somewhat tolerant?

Like your relationships, there is no substitute for face to face communication. It is easy to misunderstand a comment or take something someone wrote in the wrong way when you are not there to see their body language. Was responding "that doesnt really answer my questions" so offensive - -really?

I find this group to be extremely tolerant!

Again, sorry for stirring things up. That wasn't my intention. I think we all just wanted him to get the best possible answers to his questions, and since most of us aren't using Canadian embassies, his question would be better directed elsewhere.

Gemmie: So glad to hear that Bill is trying to fly out. As I mentioned previously, me and Sebastian were having a really tough time of it until I flew out in January and it really, really helped. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you two can work something out! European flights aren't toooo expensive right now (compared to previously, anyhow) and kayak.com is great for searching through multiple airlines.

My Valentine's Day consisted of eating pizza, watching chick flicks, and popping antibiotics while my roommates went on dates, got dozens of roses, etc.. I, too, think Valentine's Day is overrated and commercial, but spending it alone was extra hard this year. I was able to talk to Sebastian (through text at least) online and he was very sweet. Sent me a few e-drawings and lots of kissy faces, which really brightened my day. With any luck, August filers, this will have been our last Valentine's Day apart from our future spouses! I hope we can all at least find some consolation in that.

Anyhow, I hope you are all in good spirits today. The new work week is about to begin, so hopefully things get rolling!

Sorry for the little mess I've made!

SoInLove16: As commercial as it may be, Valentine's Day is about love- in distance or not. I figured lots of people in here would be sending cute things to their SOs or having cute webcam dates or something- and we all like to have our hearts warmed with cute stories, especially in times of distress. Believe me, our Valentine's Day sucked, approval or not. I had 2 root canals done last week and now have a severe gum infection, which means I couldn't even talk to Seb today. sad.gif We're holding off on gifts for now, international shipping just isn't in the budget. I just wanted to hear what cute things you all did for each other- sorry if I came off as insensitive, that certainly wasn't my intention!

Amazon: I really didn't mean to scare you away...geez- looks like I've miscommunicated with a lot of August filers today. I just meant to point out that SoInLove16 really DID answer your question in the best way he, and most of us who aren't filing through an embassy in Canada, can.

After the NOA2, different embassies have different procedures. Your question would be better posted in a Canada-specific forum for you to get the best advice. Please don't be snarky to people like SoInLove16 who are only trying to help you- we try to keep things positive around here.

Hello everyone,
First let me say I am glad to see all the approvals and positive progress on all the cases this week and lets hope for more. Nic has his medical tommorrow in London which we are excited to get that out of the way. He ordered his police certificate almost 3 weeks ago and has not got it yet. 2 weeks ago he ordered a long version of his birth certificate and still has not got that yet either. We think the snow days slowed this down some. Just to give people an idea of how soon to order those documents. To those going through the London embassy do not freak out of the weird letter package 3, we did. Calm down and just go through it one thing at a time. star_smile.gif

Just wanted to warn you that you may want to change your signature! It currently says your medical was on JANUARY 13th rather than February. Best of luck! Watch out for the Irish doctor drawing blood, he's bruised many a fellow VJer haha.

YEaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa congrats kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif
BTW what were the questions they asked and how long did it take??

This is Seb here - I'll run down how my morning went.

I got to the London embassy at about 7:20 AM. There was already a queue outside, maybe 15 people were there already. I was outside for maybe 15 minutes - not long at all. I took my belt off for security, had my big folder x-rayed, and was inside by about 7:40. My ticket number was 5001 - considering that immigrant visa applicants are numbered from 5000, I'd done exceptionally well.

At about 8:20, I was called up to window 14. I showed the guy (who was English) my passport, then I was sent to the cashier, where I paid my $131 in cash. I returned to window 14, where I handed in my birth certificate, my passport photos, my police certificate, and the I-134 forms (plus all my photocopies). I also signed my two DS-156 forms that I'd mailed in January. My fingerprints were scanned, and I was sent back into the hall, to await my actual interview.

At about 9:20, I was summoned to window 16 for my interview. The guy there was American - early 20s, somewhat of a boy scout, very friendly. After I'd sworn that all the information I'd supplied is true, he asked me the following questions in no particular order:

  • "So you met in the States, right?" I explained that we met online but that she spent a year studying in the UK.
  • "And when did she leave the UK"?
  • "What made you decide that you'd live in the States rather than here?" I explained that Terri's still a student.
  • "And what's she studying"
  • "Where will you be living in the States"
  • "Who proposed?" After I said, "me", he responded, "I like that, I'm pretty traditional. How did you do it" I told him about how I put the ring inside a cheesecake my sister baked, and he laughed, wondering if I wasn't terrified she might swallow it. "And when was that?" I told him the exact date.
  • "Tell me all the countries you've lived in for longer than a year since turning 16"
  • "Have you lived in the USA before?" I explained that I was an H4 for five years, which he was very excited about.

After all that, he said I was approved and wished me the best of luck. Before leaving to pay the courier, though, I asked him about the big pile of photographs and phone bills and emails etc that I'd brought and if they're ever required - the embassy never mentioned it prior to my interview, but being cautious I brought it anyway. He said, "it depends on the interview we just had. We didn't need any extra stuff from you". I guess my sincerity was apparent with all the questions he asked - he could tell I was in it for the love!

I left at around 9:30, around 2 hours after I'd arrived. If I can offer any advice to future London interviewees, it would be:
  • arrive before 8, even if your interview letter says 9am! Getting inside by 7:40 made a huge difference. By the time I went up to Window 14 to hand in my money and documents, I could see (on the display boards) that 5007 had just joined the queue. By the time I'd left, 5007 hadn't been called yet. You want to be as far ahead in the queue as possible.
  • They have nice coffee inside. Don't worry!

Thanks very much for the kind wishes - I hope you will all enjoy trouble-free K-1 interviews! If anybody has any questions, feel free to ask.

Thayani,
The forms should have been included with packet 3. Don't fret though, as they're all available on the embassy's website. Just fill them out and send them back asap!
1. Documents such as birth certificate, pictures, police reports, etc. are taken to the interview- not mailed in.
2. Police report info is here: http://www.acpo.poli...ertificates.asp. The UK embassy does not do it. Not sure about Sri Lanka, though.
3. The police reports are complete for each country. You don't request "years" of them, all offenses/criminal activity from age 16 or 18 would be on the 1 report.

Hope that was helpful! Thanks for wishing us good luck smile.gif.
