K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3- I130, I am finally filling it in!!!!!!!

When filling out the I130 do I use my married name?

I used my married name when my husband filed for our I-130. I have no idea if it will cause any problem if you won't use your married name on the petition.

also want to know, on the I130 required proof it asks for 'a certified copy of marriage certificate', but the FC-029 states that 'the INS has changed the policy requiring.... You may submit ordinary legibly photocopies of the original document.... You may be required to present the original....' Does this mean that I can submit a copy of my marriage cert?

This is true, you can submit a photocopy of your marriage certificate but show them the original at the time of your interview.

Is it required to send in a signed copy of the FC-029?

This is already an obsolete form. We did not use this with the petition.

:) Goodluck.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPolice clearance

This may sound stupid... but for the DS 230 they ask all the places you lived for more than 6 months. The embassy told me it ment all the places you lived/travelled/studied for 6 months or more. Now.. for the police clearance, that does not also mean that you need one for all those places too? It does say all the places you lived.

My husband travelled thru japan for 1 and 1/2 years.. He wouldnt need a police clearance would be from there, right??? That would be ridiculous if you would need one from a place you just travelled through. How would the police even have anything about you?

Im so confused!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for your advice
Amy

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThis Has Been A Worry To Me

Please give me some information on this situation. I am married and I filed two petitions, an I-130 petition and a I-129f petition. The I-130 was approved and is completed by the National Visa Center and now we are waiting for our interview at the embassy. But the I-129f was denied and what is so strange is that it was denied because we were already married and it was denied for that fact. They said that the petition was filed and they throught that we were filing because I wanted to bring my wife to the united states and get married, but when I filed the I-129f I was married and I sent them the married papers with the paperwork, so I do not know what they are trying to say there. My attorney stated that we do not need the I-129f petition since the I-130 has been approved. Will I run into any problems about the I-129f at the interview or what to you all think of this.
Kyle

I do not know if this will give you any problelm. However, the I-130 and I-12F has different steps in processing. I-130 is being processed in the NVC and gets approved before it is forwarded to your embassy/consulate but, the I-129F will take only a few days at the NVC and the processing is continued at the embassy/consulate.

Filing for I-129F for a married person must have filed an I-130 first. I do not know if you did the protocol with regards to I-129F.

No, your spouse change of address will not affect the visa petition. You need to update his/her address at the USCIS/NVC.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresForm DS-230 PART I for K-3 Visa

[font=Verdana]Hi all!

I am in the process of applying for the K3 visa and I am having a bit of trouble with form DS-230 Part I. Everything is pretty straight forward, but the last part, #25, says to list the dates of all previous visits to or residence in the United States. I have done a fair bit of travelling across the border (I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) over the years and I'm just wondering how far back I should be listing? 5 years? 10 years? All my life? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :help:

It asks all your previous visits to the US. If provided space is not enough, then type it on another piece of white paper and mark (continuation of #25) and at the bottom, have your signature.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresA list for K3 Members
Sheila,

You can delete my name to the list of K3ers as I am not going with my K3 anymore, I already had my medical examination and vaccination for my CR1. I decided to just go with these route rather than the K3 as I've never heard from MNL.

Anyway, goodluck to all K3's, to you Sheila and our co-pinoys there.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDoing K3 in country of marriage

It is in fact true. You must have your interview at the Embassy in the country in which you were married. A friend of mine is being interviewed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, she is the USC and he is a UK citizen. They married in Victoria, British Columbia.

Thanks...I was feeling paranoid! Good thing we didn't marry in New Zealand...

Just like what happened to us. We married in another country and we do not have any idea that K3 will be processed in the country of marriage. We were just so glad that our I-130 was approved faster. So we decided not to pursue the I-129F and rather go with the I-130. The I-130 is better so far anyway than I-129F as it is an immigrant visa though it takes a while at the NVC.

Africa: Sub-SaharanWhy does Lagos Suck so much
This embassy is a nightmare, for lack of a better word. There is no rhyme or reason to anything they do. You can spend countless hours trying to make reason of it all......and you will come back right to the beginning still with no answers.

A friend of mine was approved about 2 weeks before me, but when our interviews at the embassy were scheduled I was scheduled almost 3 weeks ahead of her.....now explain that one!

Good luck working your way through the quagmire this embassy consistantly creates!

Africa: Sub-Saharandivorce rates
You get out of a marriage what you put into a marriage. It doesn't work if you have only one spouse who is willing to work on a marriage. It is a 50/50 deal, give and take. USA divorce rates are high, period. To generalize and state that abuse is high from African immigrants is "narrow-minded". I have been in abusive relationships and the people I was involved with were born and raised USA citizens. My husband is Nigerian and he is very kind to me. We have our disputes and disagreements but we work through them. Yes, culture plays a part....BUT in any dating relationship you only show your best behavior in order to win the heart of the one you are with. When you are married, the blinders come off......the real behavior begins to show......that is with anyone whether from the US or anywhere else.

Thanks Wendy! We mailed all the stuff off to register our marriage in L.A. this morning...then we're just planning to bug the heck out of everyone at the Turkish Consulate and military service until they give us what we need! smile.gif

Glad to hear you had such an awesome trip and glad you made it back safe!!

Tanya

P.S. I was reading some old posts on this forum the other day and cracking up to myself when I came to the part about eating fish and yoghurt at the same time...its sooo true! Apparently the same thing goes for fish and milk too... tongue.gif

Thanks Tanya.

yeah, funny story. I really don't like fish. So one night we had dinner at Yilmaz's sister's house. She asked me (in Turkish) if I liked fish. Of course I said "Evet", she was so happy. Well, at dinner that is what we had. Little fishes with their heads on. Yilmaz started to tell her that I don't like fish. I stopped him immediately and asked him to show me how to eat them. Well, I was starving so I bravely broke off the head, took out the back bone and broke off the tail. They were very good. I ended up eating about eight. For someone who doesn't like fish, that is a lot.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven't written for awhile. I got back last Sunday, but have been busy catching up on work. We had a wonderful time and words can't describe how good it was to see him and have his arms around me!!! A year was too long!!! We spent New Years with the family and it was great. This time we went to Ankara so Yilmaz's sister could check on her apartment (she is living back home while her husband is on Navy business in Albania). Had a lovely villa that we rented and just enjoyed being together!! Despite the wonderful time, unfortunately I had to leave and found it extremely hard to do so. The separation is really getting to me and I am praying very hard for a positive outcome soon!!!

On another note, Wow, what great news for Debra and John. Tebrikler!!!!

Awaterlily, I agree with what you said. Even though I have a long road ahead of me, I hope to stay in touch with everyone, even when your journeys have come to an end.
The little one is growing and what a beauty!!!

Deb Res, Wow, 90 lbs. How wonderful!!! I am so happy for you!!!

Mina, Congratulations on your move!!! Best wishes in your new abode!! Thank you so much for your good wishes for my trip. I have missed talking to you!!!

Tanya, I am so sorry, I didn't realize you and Ozzy were going through this regarding his military service. I hope you will get it resolved soon. I am sure you will, you both seem to be on top of things and waste no time getting done what needs to be done!!!

Also, welcome to the new members. It is great to see and hear other stories of couples in similar situations. I am sure you know, if any of us can help, we are here!!!

Hi Everyone,

I am so happy to hear of everyone's progress!!

I have some news, I am going to Turkey at the end of December. I was going to wait to hear something on the waiver we filed before my next visit, but it will have been over a year since we have seen each other and it is just too long!!!

I leave on December 28 and will fly back on January 13. I wish it could be for longer, but I will take what I can get. Even though our relationship has been for 2 1/2 years, it will be our first New Year's together. I am so excited!! I hope and pray that everything goes well.
