Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionwhat exaclty is a RFE?
What does RFE mean?

Is it a letter they send if an application needs correction?
or it is more than that?

How often people have gotten RFE's around here?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionConditional Resident Children
Yeah,
that was my Dumb moment LOL LOL

What the instructions on the form says about conditional children is "... IN part 5 of this section, include any conditional children etc"...doesn't say anything about fees.

she mentioned that there is a Note under the fee section that says: Anyone listed in part 5 must include an additional $70 biometrics fee.

I didn't find that note so I was intrigued...

however Later on I found a Note that says All applicants, regardless of age, are required tosubmit the $70.00 biometric services fee.

the meaning is the same...

so as I said, I had a Dumb Moment. So sorry folks...

M.

Meredith,

That's what she wrote in the topic description line of her post.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhat kind of check should it be?
Hi,
In my case I could have sent a check....but I decided to send a Western Union money order, because it is something I could trust...

A check can bounce, and we don't know exactly when they are going to cash it...So, I wanted to be as safe as possible.

And Western Union has an automated system so you can check if the money order was cashed.

But, this thing about personal check or money order is something really personal... Some people prefer one over the other.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionInterviewed couple...
I knew a woman from another forum...she filled with VT

she got a RFE and she was scheduled for an interview and was really scared. I posted about this case
before....

The couple went to the interview this month, and the OF ficer said something like " they really didn't need to
be called for the interview since they had a lot of initial evidence already ,
and he only asked a few basic questions and stamped the passport...

just interesting.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionJust FYI on form expiration
I got checking the new form....out of curiosity...

and I noticed that they've improved the Fee part...

now they made clear that each one who is eligible to be included in the I-751, listed under Part 5 is required to submit
$70 for the biometrics...and etc...

...what leads me to think that they were probably receiving applications with problems in that part...

I didn't look further, so I don't know what else changed...

you guys are young, still in college, but are a legit couple,
so, don't worry.

It is understandable, and each couple's case is different!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionLawyer???Support letters???
Hi

about the letters of affidavit....I see a lot of people saying that there is no need to notarize, but
yes, I undersand that a Affidavit sworn and affirmed, must be notarized ...

I sent two affidavits notarazied, because that is the minimun they request...and One that wasn't notarized because my neighboor didn't have time to go to notarize...

And about lawyers....In my opinion, if you have money, and if you have a really great lawyer, I see no problem with that... But, in my case we have don't our process without lawyer from the beginning...

Meredith.

No you don't need a Lawyer if you don't have a sticky situation. and yes you do need to notarize the letters. It says on the I-751 to have the letters "sworn to" that means notarized. :)
Now if you are a risk taker that's another issue, I wouldn't

good luck Vi

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionrequest of avidences
Hi,

did you send the evidences, and haven't heard from them since???
what is your timeline?

have you tried to log in the USCIS website, to check your case online??? Maybe you should try that,
just to see what is the status there????

I'm curious about RFE situations...

Meredith

Who asked about a request of additional evidences? I have the same situation. I filed my I-751 a year ago. It has been a long story but after I send the avidences that were requested Texas office moved my case to the local office. Does anybody has the same situation?

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussioni-751 rejected twice
Hi
My two year greencard also has Permanent Res. Card. I filed my petition within 90 days of expiration date.

This is a conditional STATUS, despite of
fact that you don't see the word CONDITIONAL on the card.

You need to file to remove conditions within 90 days of the exact day of expiration that is in the front of the card ( not from the day she stepped her foot in the US)

If the card expires on 06/07/2007, in JUNE, that means you can fill within 90 days of this day...

90 days....get a calendar, and do the math.

If you try to send a petition before 90 days, they will send it back to you....

If you fail to file the petition, or if you file it AFTER THE EXPIRATION DATE, you will probably get denied..

I'm not a lawyer, but if you find the process too confusing, you should consult A lawyer....

Meredith.

hi all, i did, actually the copy of the green card is in front of me, the expiration is 06/07/2007. however, i just noticiced on the top of her green card it says,

"PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD".... Does this imply, she never got a conditional green card....

What does it say on your green card..... Again, she came in 06/07/2005 through k1 visa....

thanks for your response and help...

karim.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionFiling I-751 in 10-12 days
I just want to quote Tweety...
a lot of people don't feel comfortable sending complete bank statements ,etc showing all the account information and balance etc..
but since the RFE's state that they want complete documents, showing balance etc...that answers our questions...

I tried to send mine as complete as I could...I wish I have known that too
...HOwever I'm getting prepared in case I get a RFE....still collecting copies ...just in case...

Anyway, regarding excluding pages from documents: Based on an RFE text copy that was posted here recently, it is also not wise to submit incomplete items - like leaving pages of the tax return out, or just submitting pages with name only and excluding the rest.... It appears that USCIS wants the documents complete without anything missing. I wish I would have known this when I was submitting.

I'm in a similar position (Collecting and bringing daughter home from custody visit to the UK after our GC expired) and read the rules every which way. With $3k of flights booked I needed some reassurance so booked an INFOPASS appointment at my local office in Philly. Here's how it works....

SEND in the paperwork as early as possible within the 90days. IMPORTANT - send it such that you get a return receipt

The NOA thingy should arrive in a couple of weeks extending your GC for another 12months. THe NOA and the expired GC TOGETHER will get you back into the US within that year. (Presumably you need a new passport too)

IF the NOA hasn't arrived and you're about to travel with an expired GC (or due to expire before you return) make an INFOPASS appointment at your local office.

Take the PHOTOCOPIES of the paperwork you submitted (everyones does that right?) and the RETURN RECIEPT (IMPORTANT - you need to prove you submitted the paperwork) Take your expired GC and passport and the nice person at immigration will put a stamp in your passport that extends your GC enabling you to get back into the US he said there would be no problems getting this.

If you have kiddies that need extensions on their GC to travel they MUST ATTEND THE INTERVIEW TOO.

I plan to make an appointment for about a week before we travel and cancel it if the NOA shows up.

Hope this helps :)

My daughter just called to tell me it's official with the church. She's pretty excited. :luv: They have a 3:00pm wedding and a 5:45pm rehearsal the day before. Now they just have to make a decision about the choir. It's pretty pricey. They've got the bell-ringer, though. lol

I luck out on this....I was a member of our choir for 6 years in high school, and I'm a member of the church - our choir wouldn't accept payment if I TRIED! Oh, and my aunt's the choir director  The choir is singing three songs - "The Lord's Prayer" (lighting the unity candle), "Love Is" (during the seating of the mothers), and "In the Hands of the Lord" (right after we're both at the altar). They've already distributed programs - and tissue boxes - for the choir loft, and the entire choir will be joining us at the rehersal and rehersal dinner tomorrow!

I think at this point everything is done (except our house being clean, but we're working on that), except decorating the hall tomorrow!

Today is my last day at work as a "single" lady :)

Oh, and we picked up our rings the other night! Preeeeettttttty!

So it's... *counts* four days to the wedding, and everyone keeps asking me if I'm "nervous" yet. For the fiftieth time, no.

I mean, I've dealt with the United States government and survived. I don't think I'll be scared of anything else again :P

I keep telling people...."I was nervous when we went to Montreal because I wasn't sure they were going to say yes. Saturday will be easy, I KNOW Spoom will say yes!"

The store called last night and my wedding ring is in!!! We're going to pick it up tonight :)

We booked our mini-honeymoon last night!!! We decided awhile ago that warm sunny places like Hawaii and Florida were beyond our means at the moment, so we're spending the week after the wedding in Hocking Hills (Ohio). We rented a cabin for a week with a hot tub, fireplace, and no 12 hour workdays or screaming teenagers. After the wedding chaos (why did we invite 200 people again?), we just want to kinda hide in the middle of nowhere for awhile. We'll be spending the week in this cabin.

Suuuuuuuper excited!!! We're only about 5 minutes from a place that rents 4-wheelers year round. We're also on state park land, so lots of cool areas to wander through. Close to skiing too :)

I can't believe the wedding is only 3 days away. I mean, it's awesome, I just can't get over the fact that I'm actually getting married  Although tying 200 ribbons on 200 programs for the wedding last night kinda made it a bit more real. We got our programs from the great and mystical internets, and Spoom did the design.

Wedding favors are done! I'll have to get a picture of them so I can show you guys :)

We have metal heart shaped cookie cutters with a recipe card with our name and wedding date, as well as my great-grandmother's cookie recipe. My Great grandma was born in 1910, and was 73 when I was born...she watched me every day from the time I was 6 weeks old (when mom went back to work) until I graduated high school. By the end, I was more helping take care of her, but we were still together. She died a few years ago, but she was the matriarch of our (very) large family, and she taught all us kids how to make her cookies. It's a special memory to all of my cousins (from my generation and the next one ahead of us) and a way to honor her in our wedding day :)

I always found the garter removal a strange, and embarrassing, ritual too. I also think that the cake-squashed-into-face ritual the Americans have is bizarre. I would be so angry! lol

You and I are on the same page then! I've warned Spoom that he'll die if he smashes cake in my face.

I'm not a girly girl. Because it's my wedding day, I'm actually allowing people to do my hair and nails (okay, mom's making me), and wearing a dress and I look really nice...it's the only time I've ever had my hair/nails done, and the first time I've (willingly) worn a dress in forever...I'll be darned if someone's gonna shove cake in my face!

We danced to the Pennsylvania Polka at my brother's wedding (my paternal grandfather was big into Polka), and I don't know that I've ever been to a wedding where they haven't done the electric slide/chicken dance/conga line/etc. We're more or less letting the DJ pick what to play, other than our "songs we definately want to hear" list, but we've given her some guidance as to our musical tastes. She's supposed to be a really good DJ, so I'm excited to work with her.

The one thing we're not doing is the garter toss. I'm *ridiculously* modest (hell-o, dress with sleeves anyone?) from a ridiculously modest and conservative family, and the mere thought of having my future husband rooting around under my dress in front of my entire family makes me want to die. He, thankfully, has no desire to do so (at least, in front of my family ;)), so we just scrapped that part.
