For Q23, My husband put only his Bachaleor's Master's and PhD info only.

YamSam

This is how i answered q23. I just wrote down my bachelors degree, as Institution is mainly based on College degree. This is just for them to determine what kind of work you can perform ones you are in the US as an Immigrant.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresquestion about vaccination/immunization

other says they will give shots/injection depending on age/or what is needed.

Yes this is true, the vaccination is given to you depending on your age bracket, medical condition and according to what your Embassy's instruction to their panel physicians on what kind of vaccination you are suppose to have. I am getting 3 vaccination. I already got one, and I am getting 2 more next week as they release the result of my medical exam.

undefinedquestion..... can we have a shot/injection before the medical? papers are processing so at least we are ready with the record of immunization...... can this be done?

I do not know if you can get your vaccination in advance, why don't you ask the US panel physician of St. Lukes?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa Fee?

My hubby has his interview at the Kingston Embassy on March 16th. His visa is Cr1 and I would like to know if there is another fee we have to pay to get the visa. If there is a fee, will he be expected to pay at the time of the interview? If anyone knows please let me know. thanks

If your hubby is a CR1, he doesn't have to pay the visa fee as this is already paid at the nvc. I don't know how they issue visa in his Embassy, but if they deliver it by mail, then your hubby has to pay for the visa delivery.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThank you to everyone !!!.. - One last question reg I-130

What is the difference between domicile and where you reside ?

Domicile :Place where a person has his or her principal residence. The person must intend to keep that residence for the foreseeable future. The sponsor of an immigrant must have domicile in the United States before the visa can be issued. This generally means that the sponsor must be living in the United States. In certain circumstances, however one can be considered to have a domicile while living temporarily living overseas.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed a little help...

On the DS-230 Part II there is a question which asks the name of the petitioner, I'm guessing that is my husband? It is the person who filed the I-130??

Yes, write down the name of your hubby and his address.

Another question how did you prepare you file, did you put all your papers in a binder?

I put all the originals together in one slide in folder and copies in another, cards with their envelopes and emails in one slide folder, AOS and tax return in another folder, et., al.

Finally did you include copies of EVERYTHING, or just the things you want returned to you. Guess its just last minute nerves

I handed them both copies and originals, but after I was interviewed, they gave me back all originals and they kept all the copies.

Goodluck and wish you the best.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa Granted
Hello guys,

My interview went fine and I was granted the visa (CR1). I was asked so many questions. They questioned me so fast that I have to answer it quickly looking thru their eyes.

First they took my index finger print on a machine, after that they let me sit and wait.

Then after 30 minutes, the woman called me and asked; the name of my petitioner, how we met how many times he visits me, if I was married before, she asked me about my US visit before, what is my husband’s job, phone number, how often we talk, if he has kids.

After another 30 minutes, the final interview was with the VO. I took an oath and he asked my husbands name, where we get married, how we met, what website, how many kids does he has, what are their names, he asked me about my US visit before, how many years I’ve been living here in Hong Kong, what work am I going to have in the US, my husbands job, He looked at our wedding album turning from page to page, and he said that we have a very nice wedding. Then after that he said……congratulation, I don’t see any problem with your papers, so we will issue you the visa.

He gave me the yellow card to pay for my visa delivery. I was so proud of myself that I was full of confidence during my interview and I did not get nervous at all, though I was beforehand.

On my way home, I thank God so much as he helped me on this day of my interview.

Our I-130 was approved first than our I-129F. We decided to move on with our I-130 rather than our I-129F as we figured out that the I-130 is better than the I-129F. You have your own option which way you want to go.

Goodluck!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhen do you get your "green card"?

I'm just petty enough to notice that this SS card *must* be a result of your DS-230 application; there's no way in heaven that SSA got you a card from your application 3 days previous, is there?

No, I don't need a second ss card, as the ss card that I received is the real ss card and it is not from the ds230 that I signed. I went to the ssa in person to get a number and they sent me the real one.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhen do you get your "green card"?

Here's my situation. On my wife's DS-230 we selected the option to be issued a SS card. Well, we went to the states back in February. It's now 2 months later and she has received absolutely nothing yet. She was chatting with her friend who entered the US 3 1/2 weeks ago and has already gotten her green card in the mail. Who can I contact about not receiveing the green card or SS# yet?

If you did receive a welcome letter, you can check your status at the uscis online with your noa receipt number. I have checked my status online and it says that they already ordered the card and will be mailed as soon as it is ready.

With regards to my ss#, three weeks without receiving an ss#, my husband and I went to the local ssa to get a number. You will fill up a form there, your passport with the stamp is enough requirement to show them.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhen do you get your "green card"?

I think you should wait the 3-4 weeks from your entry and see what you get in the mail. Many people have been reporting getting their SS# visa the immigrant visa, and getting it within the 3-4 weeks after arrival.

I know but, I am on a panick here, because of what I read that some takes them months to receive it. I hope I receive mine on the date they said. Whew!!!

Thanks anyway......... :) JR

I haven't receive my green card either and my ss#. Do you guys think that I should go to ss gov. office to get my number there? or should I just wait since in the DS 230 part 2, I checked the box yes, saying that I am applying for ss# with my visa application and that be sent to my address here in USA. However, in the letter that the embassy gave to me together with my brown envelope, it says, that ss# and permanent residence card will be sent into your USA address within 3 weeks of arrival. Any idea? Please share.

Thanks.

Don't forget to send her a pay slip from your job, and W2

You can send copies or you can fax it to your fiance/e but send the originals of your plane tickets, baggage stubbs, photos and any receipts in the hotel where you spent together.
