Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometrics File Number not working
QUOTE (Arazia @ Apr 10 2009, 11:54 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey everyone.

I've read that the number on the NOA-1 isn't any good, so I just waited for our biometrics notice. We got it yesterday and it has a very clear WAC# to use, but when I try to enter it, I get an error message saying no such file exists.

Has anyone else had this problem?
Should I just wait and try again later? (Tried two days in a row)

You have to do your biometrics first before you can check your status online, using your biomtrics number.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCongressman? or Senate?

Hi, Everyone. I have filed my case in May 08 to TSC. Then, it was transfered to VSC. I did my BIO and nothing updated after that. I didn't worried too much till now but after I see those people who filed around same time as mine started to get approved. My case hasn't updated anything like "touched". Anyway, as I was reading some of forums, I see people trying to contact to Congressman or Senater in the states. And it seems like it's working to find the case what's going on. Here are some my quesiotns.

1)Which is better to contact Congressman?? or Senater??

2)Writting letter is better than making a call?

3) Are your cases' number start from SRC###? Because mine does. But should it be started as CR###???

If someone can help me to answer these quiestions, I'd really appreciate.. Thanks.

I am going to share my experience with you!!!Here is what happened to me...I applied in the middle of February,2008 and didn't hear anything nor I got any touches after my biometrics(March 2008)...so I called the 1800 # and they told me to wait 30 days after 1 year anniversary (which would be March 18th of 2009) and call again so they can forward an information request to VSC...I did call on the 18th,they submitted the request and told me that I would get an answer within 30 days...I got an email 2 days later, explaining that my case is under review right now and I should get a decision within 60 days(this is a standard email they send to everyone who requests info)...so being pissed off because of the long 13 month wait I called my senator's office and talked to the immigration specialist who told me to write a letter, include a copy of my extension letter and bio. letter and send it to their office, promising that they would try to find out what was taking VSC so long...on March 31st as I was heading to my mailbox to send the letter to the senator I found a letter in the mail from VSC dated March 25th...the letter stated that the expedite request had been approved and upon receipt of my letter requesting expeditious handling, the matter was reviewd and a determination was made that it met the criteria for special handling. The pettition/application will be reviewed and that I should be receiving notification from this office very shortly...without sending the letter to the senator I came back in the house and ran to check my email, see if I had a message from uscis website and guess what I had "card production ordered" email from them...then on April 1st I got the same email again that the card was ordered and then on the 6th I got the actual card in the mail...the whole I751 journey lasted 13 months and 15 days...it was very stressing and I would get really depressed every time I would see someone who had applied months after me and getting approved before me...but it all worked out at the end...there is still a light at the end of a tunnel..don't panic and don't stress, everything will be fine...I just wanted to share this, maybe to give you a hope?!...Good Luck!!! good.gif

Congratulations. I am happy for you. I hope to be the next.

I may not have filed in April/May 08 but my spouse and I are still waiting from January 2008 sad.gif . We are in the process of contacting our congresswoman to see what the heck is going on..

If you look on the status list many from December 2007 aren't approved, I am sure a couple have dropped off and stopped coming to this site, but keep in mind if you have been waiting since April/May/June 2008 things could be much worse.....

Like you I am still waiting. We did reply for an RFE but then what's next? I went through my 1-551 stamp and gave me a one year extension. I asked the officer there but she said they didn't process my papers yet. Don't know what is going on.

Hi Viji_nyc,
I am sorry to hear about your situation. I am in the same boat and i fear that they have lost my file as well. We filed in January 08. Had the FP march. My file was touched in march of 08. Ever since, NOTHING.
I called them twice only to recieve a letter that my case has been pulled and that i should hear something within 90 days. bear in mind my one year extension was slowly drawing to an end. I finally was able to make an infopass appointment and get my passport stamped for another one year.
At the immigration center, i asked the lady who stamped my passport why the delay. She simply told me that the case was still under review.
I therefore asked myself the following questions:
1. Under review for what?
2. If you need more info, simply ask me to send more info.
3. If i need an interview, simply send me the letter stating the date and i will be there.
My logical conclusion is that they have misplaced my file and your experience only validates my point. I am 15 months and counting. But i cannot stress, i cannot argue with them. I will wait even if it takes 5 years.

I am on the same boat with you guys. I replied with our RFE a month ago but until now, never heard anything. I got my info pass but the officer said they did not process our papers yet. What the heck are they doing????? Why would they wait for a year or over a year to process the papers???? devil.gif

I personally think that saying it is on someone desk is VSC's way of saying we have no idea. I hope I am wrong because I was told the same thing by my congresswoman's office. I honestly think for those of us over a year there is something MAJORLY wrong at VSC. Yet there are some getting approved in less than 10 months at the same center. protest6wz.gif

15+ months and still waiting......

I am 14 months and still waiting. Don't know what is going on with VSC. I am worried and pissed of now.....grrrrr

i am a little confused. i am about to send in my I-751 packet and only have my fingerprint card left to get.
i called the state police here in town and they told me that they can do the fingerprints, but i need to bring the card that i need, as in i should bring whatever card the immigration services wants me to use. so, where do i get this?

Read the I751 instructions carefully. You don't send in fingerprints unless you're currently outside the US (ie pursuant to a govt job etc)

oooh good!! i am glad i asked then. i thought everyone had to send one in, which i didn't understand why since they already took my prints.

thank you!

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionworried about traveling soon
Thank you for the answers everyone.

Pardon my ignorance though... Who do I contact about getting the I-551 stamp? My local immigration office? I need to figure this out ASAP. Someone mentioned that they don't give out those stamps anymore? Does anyone know for sure?...

Ant, I live in Erie, PA. So I am not directly in Buffalo either. Nice to meet another Canadian immigrant in the area! smile.gif

QUOTE (AntandD @ Sep 16 2008, 11:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi Vegangirl,

In answer to your question, as long as your green card is still valid, you can travel. However, after that, you will need an NOA extension letter after your green card expires. The NOA extension letter extends your green card for another year, while the I-751 is processing. If you do not have this NOA letter, you can get an I-551 stamp in your unexpired passport, which works the same way as the NOA letter. I don't think you can travel out of the country and then come back to the USA with an expired green card only, so you would need the additonal NOA or the I-551 stamp along with your expired green card before you go.

In my situation, I got my NOA extension a week after I sent and they recieved my I-751 application, so for you it shouldn't take that long either. And based on other VJ timelines, that I've looked at, others have recieved their NOA shortly (about 1-2 weeks) after they sent their application in.

As well, since you're also at the VSC, you can add your name and information to the following message thread list: "VSC I-751 Status List" (look for the last updated list on the last page), so you can see and track your progress too, compared to other VJers on the same long-waiting boat: http://www.visajourn...howtopic=110056

By the way, it's a co-incidence that I noticed that you're in the Buffalo, NY area as well. It's nice to meet another NYS VJer that is from the same area as I'm in too (though I'm actually 2-3 hrs away, but close enough). And it's a co-incidence too, that you're also from Canada like I am from. Wow, it's a small world after all, isn't it?

Have fun on your trip to the Bahamas (if you do get your NOA in time and can go).

Good luck too with the rest of your immigration journey.

Ant (Still waiting at the VSC, another fellow NYS VJer....)

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionworried about traveling soon
hi everyone,

this kind of question probably gets asked quite often, but i don't have time to dig in he forum right now.

my GC expires september 27th. i sent in my I-751 packet yesterday. i am traveling to the bahamas from october 1st to the 8th.

my questions is this. do you think i will be getting some kind of receipt before i leave the country? if i don't, will they give me a hard time when i try to come back into the US with my expired GC?

thanks in advance.
