i already initiated two service requests via phone with the USCIS in the last 6 months. twice they simply sent me stock letters in the mail telling me my case wasn't read for an answer. i plan on calling again soon. the last letter i got, in late february, asked me to wait 90 days for an answers. i am not expecting much.

heard from the congresswoman's case worker today. he said he hasn't heard back and that sometimes it can take months. i asked him about the USCIS having a timeline for answering requests from congress people, and he said no, they are slow, nothing he can do. :wacko:

my current concern is that my biometrics will be expiring in a few weeks. someone here on VJ told me that in itself might be enough for them to send me a decision before then. if not, does that mean they will be sending me another appointment for biometrics soon? are they required to have current biometrics on file?

Well, he could re-forward the email to the congressional liaison unit and be a bit more proactive. Mine followed up with emails and called and while she did tell me it takes them up to 30 days to reply by law, she got the emails back in 2 business days.

Yes, after 15 months you'll most likely get another biometrics notice.

Any luck with emailing congressman's aide to follow up on this? Ours was very expedient and we'd have info 2 days after she'd email USCIS congressional inquiries unit.


the case worker sent in the request in mid march. i called him monday (so 3 weeks later) and he said he hadn't heard back yet, told me to be patient cause it often takes them a long time.

a friendly VJ member reminded me that biometrics are only good for 15 months, and it will be 15 months for me in may. it would be nice if that meant that they were going to hurry to get things sorted out by then.

but if they don't, does that mean they are going to send me another letter to go for another set of biometrics?

i am not interested in citizenship, so that is not an option for me.
i am going to keep bugging my congresswoman's office until i hear something. although i know its not up to them; they sent in their request and are waiting just like i am right now. bleh.

i hadn't thought about writing an article! that might be a good idea. i might contact my local newspaper. but even then, who would that put pressure on, you know? my congresswoman can only do so much, right?

nane, glad to hear involving your congressman helped! 5 weeks sounds reasonable, i guess i can wait that long if i have to.. :crying: i did call them up on monday to see where they were at; the case worker just confirmed that he had sent in a letter on my behalf and told me to be patient because it can be slow to hear back from them.

i am usually a very patient person, but this is the LAST step of this long process, can't this just be done with please?..

my timeline is in my signature, i filed for removal of conditions back in september 2008!

last fall when i had not received my green card yet i called USCIS, asking them to email on my behalf to have my case pushed through. immigration sent me a cookie-cutter letter 2 weeks later saying they didn't know yet but that i would receive a decision or NOA within 45 days. i didn't, so i called them again, and i then received another letter saying my case had been given to an adjudicating officer and to wait another 45 days. i waited and nothing, so i called again, same thing, they sent me another letter on february 22nd this time saying to wait 90 days and if i hadn't heard from them to call them !*&%#$?

HOW MUCH LONGER DO I NEED TO WAIT??

i am getting really impatient. i have sent form DHS-7001 with CIS Ombudsman to ask what is up with my case, i have had my congresswoman send in a letter for me. i have had to get stamps in my passport twice in order to be able to travel, my latest one is about to expire, i need to take another 2h trip to my nearest office to get another stamp. i am sick of this!!

has anyone else experienced this and have any words of wisdom?

My brazilian passport expired..last year. It is in my maiden name...Since I left that country I never went back to that country.
So I think, I have to request a new renewed passport at he brazlian embassy in the USA.

it is so confusing...

At the USA airport ckeckout to come back in they will only ask to see your resident card?

then when you are back to the US, what do you present to get back in?
Only the Permanent resident Card?
what other documents?

I'm a permanent resident

PS sorry guys I haven't updated my timeline for the longest time.
already had the conditions lifted, my card is the 10 year card and I'm eligible
for naturalization. but maybe I will do that in a few years.

Hi Guys ! Thanks for the honest suggestions. Yes I mailed the change of address through UPS also and did online also, No I have'nt sent mine I-751 Package will send in December 04, 2009 yes that would be a good Idea make a copy of online change of address and copy of I-865 noa and include in my package.

Yup I got confirmation code and I did print it out as a proof but not the notice of action from USCIS.

Mine was updated on the 12th and my biometrics was done on the 11th of January. so I guess they do update right away....

May be you are right but I checked mine case on USCIS site they touched today 22 also, so it is certain that whenever they touch they update the date also because yesterday it was showing 21 and today it is showing 22 .

You can sign up on USCIS site and make your profile than you can log in and see when they touched. Ex: if they touch today you can see the date they updated.

Hey Guys I went to the Biometric today and its done, mine original appointment was on jan 26 so I am happy. I was surprised nobody was there I was the only one and it took 15 min . I noticed one thing when she was taking the fingure print on computer screen it says succesfully after each fingure so may be I dont have to worry about second fongure print stuff.

I want to tell you guys I just send the one yes only one latest bill of each utilities, one bank statement recent so I say that there is no need of sending entire 2 years of any bill statement just recent one is fine.


On April 15, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a green card) or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, refugee travel documents or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application.

Congrats to all who got their approval from VSC recently; your Christmas is going to seem a lot more joyful - I do mean that! kicking.gif

For me I think I have reached the stage where I don't really care anymore if I get approved or not. I love my wife but the longer I remain in the US the more I find myself wishing I was back in Europe. The obsession with the dollar and the disposable way people are treated here increasingly sickens me. I have a good job, have no problem driving on the right innocent.gif and have a wonderful family but I just can't adapt, mentally, to the culture here. I think Linda may want to try Europe but if she doesn't then I have some serious thinking to do.

Luck of the draw I'm afraid; just depends on the individual workloads. I wouldn't worry yet although you may want to consider an Infopass appointment to get an I-551 stamp in your passport if you think your extension letter might expire before your case is processed.
