I feel you, I was on the same boat, I filed for ROC on 06/30/2009, did my Bio on 08/14/2009 and never heard from Vermont Center, my case got out of the normal processing time. Did Serveice request, my husband did expedited request and nothing was done (BTW my case hasn't even been touched since 08/16/2009 until May of 2010 after I filed for N-400) I guess it was stuck under a pile of other files or I don't know. Called the 1-800 # million times with no help. One officer told me that they will request my file to be sent to them. NOTHING, I guess she was just trying to left up my spirit as she was as well wondering how come this case hasn't been touched for that long time. And then finally I applied for N-400, that was the only way my I-751 was brought up and pushed and I started seeing it's been touched almost everyday. On May 26, 2010 they have finally approved my case and I got the hard copy just last week, after more than one year.

I know how it feels as I've been there, the funniest part is that my CR-1 immigrant visa was approved 2 month before our 2 marriage ann. So if it was delayed just a lil' I wouldn't have gone through all this. But I believe that things happen for a reason.

Hang in there. I understand that you have your reasons for not applying for Naturalization. Keep the faith and keep the positive attitude. It has to come to an end one day very soon.

thanks a lot for sharing your story. what i am wondering now is, even if i DID want to naturalize, if there actually is something wrong with my file in terms of it having been flagged by another agency like the FBI, they might take forever to process that too. at this point i doubt my file is just at the bottom of the pile.

i don't know if anyone is reading this or cares, but here is an update.

today i got an email from the congresswoman's office telling me that, for the third time since march, USCIS has told them that they are not ready for a decision yet. uggh.

so i forwarded this email to the man who helped me at my local infopass office. he replied that he had just heard back from the california processing center and they have denied his request to get my file. :angry:

this is especially frustrating because when i was at my infopass appointment, the agent told me that getting my file would not be a problem and that the only reason it would be denied is if there was something really wrong with my case :crying: so what the heck is going on!!! if something was so horrible, why wouldn't they just call me in for an interview, or just flat out deny me?? i am so frustrated today....

You have probably considered this but it is worth asking just in case. Have you considered filing for naturalization? By doing so, they will have to work on your I-751. Hopefully, this will help fix things.
Your timeline is ridiculous. I can't believe they can do that...

I really hope the IO is going to work on your case.

my timeline is in my signature. essentially i applied for ROC in september 2008. did my biometrics in january 2009, my file got transfered to california and i received a RFE in the spring. i answered it and got a confirmation that it was received in august 2010. nothing since then.

i have had to get stamps in my passport several times to be able to travel. i just went to the pittsburgh field office on august 2nd, and thankfully got a very helpful agent. he looked at everything, and told me he saw absolutely nothing that was holding back my file. he said my name and fingerprint checks were fine, and it looked like my file was just being tossed around, touched almost every month, but that nothing was actually being done. it said that happens often because if a file isn't touched for 30 days it get flagged, so if someone just "touches it" monthly, there are no flags, and it can just be pushed aside :wacko: uggh give be a freaking break!!

so anyhow, the agent was annoyed, and really wanted to help me. he said he is going to contact the california service center and have my file sent to him so that he can process it himself!! i was very surprised to hear this, i didn't know they could do that. so i am feeling very positive and hopefully this will come to an end soon.

has anyone else experienced this, had their local office process their file due to it having taken too long??

I just received text mesg from USCIS that my ccase has been approveg. I am so happy and pray for the others who are in the same boat. I want to tell you guys I just send the one yes only one latest bill of each utilities, one bank statement recent so I say that there is no need of sending entire 2 years of any bill statement just recent one is fine.


On April 15, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a green card) or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, refugee travel documents or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application.

Naturalization Applicants: you will receive your certificate at your oath ceremony. You can expect to be scheduled for an oath ceremony within 45 days of receiving your decision. Many offices schedule approved applicants for the oath ceremony on the same day as the day of the interview. Please check the local office profile page on our Web site to determine if this applies to your local office.

We don't have much with both names on besides bank statements and me as an account manager on our Verizon bill but we have separate things with our names and same address. She on the utility bill I have a best buy card. We both work for the same company and we get separate pay stubs but they have our address on them

My opinions:
1. You are doing this jointly. We both signed the cover letter

2. Utilities: Same here. Got approved anyway. Cell phone: print page showing her account and your name on it if possible. Credit cards: Joint would be better but same address is at least something.

3. Do they show both names? Anything extra with both names is good. I used dental bill and cat's rabies vaccination certificate as extras because of both names.

4. Yes. I highlighted from fiancé petition to citizenship. I think it helps point out what you are showing them.

5. Cover letter with check paperclipped, application form, required evidence, your personal individual evidence. All put together with a bulldog clip. Don't complicate it with a contents page. Make your cover letter list the same order you will stack things. They will rearrange it in their preferred order anyway. A cover letter isn't even required. By citizenship I skipped all the nice touches and just jammed the papers into a Priority Mail envelope. Still got approved in a timely manner. Never had an RFE.


Don't forget copies of your driver licenses showing same address. That's a good one. And send a smattering of things covering the two years since your marriage. Early bank statement, middle, and most recent for example.

We do have drivers licenses the only problem is that they are still have our old address on them (In-laws house). My wifes car is registered to her and her mum and she is on her mums insurance still because it is cheaper. Have been meanign to get it all changed and get our own insurance but have just been putting it off :whistle:

Hi everyone

I have a couple of questions regarding the ROC process. Im sorry if these questions have been repeated.

1. The example cover sheet in the step-by-step guide it is in the point of view of the us citizen not the permanent resident. Why is this? I have copied the example cover sheet and changed the information relevant to our case. Should I write it in the pov of my wife (us citizen) or myself (the permanent resident).


2. Utility bills are all in my wifes name because it is just easier for her to handle everything if we ever have a problem. (I have a very strong scouse accent and people cant understand me on the phone :crying: its sooo frustrating :bonk: ). On our cellphone bill I am listed as an account manager, which means i can make changes to the account. We have different store cards each but they all share the same address. Is this acceptable? Our bank statements and and credit card statements also have our address.


3. Is it ok to included extra things like magazine subscriptions and netflix (I can print out Netflix account information) or is this type of stuff just ridiculous?


4. On the evidence i have provided should i highlight the names and addresses so it is easier to locate for them?


5. Is there a preferred way to organize all the documents? Cover sheet, copy of passport and greencard, evidence. Should I do an index page of everything that is included and the order?

So I called USCIS and they transferred me to someone who could provide the tracking number... I tracked the package and saw that it was shipped on May 25th and there's no record of it after May 27th!!!

USPS is trying to find the package and will contact me back in 24 hours....

That's so strange. You were almost the first person who have been approved in August & You haven't received your card yet.
GC comes with Priority Mail with delivery confirmation without signature. If you haven't received a text and/or an e-mail like following :


Application Type: CRI89 , PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED


Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production


The USPS reported that they picked up mail from USCIS containing your new card on May XX, 2012. You should receive your new card within 7 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, please call our customer service at 1-800-375-5283.


then there is something wrong, I would call the Customer Service & find out. Also, FYI USCIS does not get involved in the production of Green Cards but a private company in Corbin, KY. So your letter containing your GC should be mailed from Corbin, KY not St.Albans, VT.

Check the status of your EAC receipt online on their site. Now they apload everything what's going on with your card. And it is true.

Haha...funny enough, I actually think the first few Aug VSC approvals should be seen by early next week. From observations so far, once a month reaches about 60-65%, the next month begins. June (with about 15124 VSC applications) took 6 weeks to get to that point. Based on maths (I know VSC does not work with maths...haha), I would assume that July (which has only 9938 VSC applications) should take about 4 weeks, all things being equal. (by the end of this week, It will be 4 weeks since the first few July VSC approvals were seen). Right now, July VSC is at 42%.....its getting really close to that point.

Once again, this is just my analysis.....VSC might not like maths as much as I do....haha...

I'm planning to just wait a bit and get my money's worth and just use my 10 year greencard for a few years minimum. I think I'll apply in 2014 or 2015 before the next election and right before my Canadian passport expires. I know I'm in no rush to do more paperwork AND pay another fee!!


The longer you wait, the higher are the chances of paying more (I believe). Every few years, the fee for Naturalization and/or Biometrics and/or Passport goes up by certain amount. I know that the entire process of becoming a US citizen is too expensive, but I would do it sooner than later.

The wife is dreadfully afraid of this part going wrong. She has been terrified I think by the many people she has met through work and the eEnglish classes she takes who are also submitting documents through immigration. The last person she spoke to about this told her all their documents were returned to them stating they had not provided enough proof and they advised her to send as much as possible. I have begun assembling our documents, but it seems they are almost the same as two years ago because we h ad already been married for over a year when she received her green card. I added our childs report cards and day care papers but most is pretty much the same. I had the house already so we have not purchased a home, They alrady have my life ins docs showing her as the beneficiary, the utility bills in both names etc. Any suggestions beyond that that I can use to show someone who does not know us that we are as much a family as they are with theirs? I apreciate all your assistance. My wife does not know so much about the people here and how much a comfort and help they have been to me before she was able to arrive here, and how much they still are today. Hello everyone;
Sorry I have been away for so long but it has been one fire after another for me to put out. Now I am in the beginnings of the I-751 to remove conditions for the wife and daughter. Thanks to so many here I understand so much more and so much faster than talking to "those who know" he he, and I thank everyone for being here. I had a question on the charges for the both of them. I understand at least one person had money returned to them for biometrics paid for a child under 14, but my question is, do I need to send $505.00 plus $80.00 for each of them? Or $505.00 for the wife plus the biometrics fee for them both even though the daughter is only eight years old. In keeping themselves consistant, this is equally confusing. So here's my story......

I came into the country on a K-1 and have been married for 2 years.

My permanent resident card expires 03/29/12.

I left my wife 6 weeks ago as we were just not working out. No one cheated, no one did anything wrong, I was just deeply unhappy and wanted out.

I understand that I need to file my I-751 in January and that I can apply for a waiver as long as I provide substantial evidence that the marriage wasn't a sham marriage.

The problem is that she has is hurt and doing all kinds of stupid stuff that people do when they are hurt. The bottom line is that I have to get a divorce layer and will probably go to court. This means that I severely doubt I will be divorced before my permanent resident card expires.

What is the procedure for dealing with this?

I'd be grateful for any help, info, and/or guides.

I just wanted to say thank you to the people who run and maintain this site as well as the people who contribute to it. Because of this site, I managed to navigate the past 4 years from a K-1 visa to an unconditional green card without the need for a lawyer. Even though the money I spent on the immigration process was no small sum, it would have been a lot higher without the information contained within this forum.

As a thank you, I have ensured I filled out my timeline as well as posted reviews of interviews plus lists of other things I submitted to the USCIS in order to make my immigration process as pain free as possible.

For all those people reading this, there is no question about the US immigration procedure that has not been answered within this forum. In the rare and unlikely event there is a unique question posed, there's an army of members with years of experience who can answer it effectively.
