February birthdays all around, I see. Today, or what's left of it, is mine!

Good luck to everyone still waiting. We can all relate to how difficult this is, certainly some more than others, but our time to be with our loved ones forever WILL come!

We're still here, too!

Our case is in the UK, according to DHL, so it should be delivered Monday morning. Maybe Tuesday, I don't know. We're planning on rescheduling the whatever interview date they give us to something late March/beginning of April-ish. I hope there won't be any problems with that.

After that.. well, I hope it won't be long after that that I'm ready to leave. Six more exams to go.. shouldn't take too long.

Based on other people's London timelines, your interview will likely fall during those dates anyhow smile.gif. We were extremely lucky in how fast ours was processed, but I know of many other people on here who have waited quite a bit longer to get their interview date. The last interview date that was scheduled for London (to my knowledge) was Feb. 24th and you figure by the time the medical is done and packet 3 paperwork sent and returned, you'll be looking at around another month.

We called DOS and asked if it was possible to reschedule an interview for a later date if necessary (we didn't want it to conflict with our trip to Spain) and they said absolutely. So don't worry!

And I'll be sure to let you know how the non-notarized I-134 works out for us, Caminic! I can't imagine why there would be any problems, but you never know. We've been really fortunate so far- I hope your case is as hassle free smile.gif

You call the department of state to find out when your case has reached the Embassy. Their # is 202-663-1225. Press 1, then zero to speak to a visa specialist. They're very nice! I'm just wrapping things up in London so definitely get in touch if you have any other questions! smile.gif

Beer pong is an American drinking that wikipedia can explain in much more detail than I ever could:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_pong

When I was in the U.K. for the year- I was asked 2 questions about being an American on a weekly basis.
#1- How on earth could you yanks have voted for George Bush TWICE? (I wasn't old enough to vote!)
#2- Do you guys really drink out of those amazing red cups at parties like they do in the movies? Yes, yes we do.

Positive perspective is always helpful. I used to whine and say "It's been sooo long since I've seen you!" and Sebastian would correct me by saying, "Hey now, remember-every day that passes is a day that brings us closer together!"

I totally agree with what Neil said- if you find it easy to be apart then that's probably not a good thing.
Terri and SebNot TellingUnited Kingdom2009-01-30 14:55:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAugust 2008 Filers
Awww, Gemmie. I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so down. I can't speak for everyone here, but me and Sebastian definitely went through a rough patch and considered putting everything on hold at one point. We were fighting incessantly over the silliest things and our relationship felt...robotic?

I have no idea what the underlying causes are for your current unhappiness (except distance, of course!) but maybe it's best that you have a bit longer to wait that way you can really deliberate on your decision to move to the U.S. It's a huge, scary move! And that's normal.

If all that is making you unhappy is the distance and separation, think of ways to spice things up. Me and Sebastian have done a few movie nights where we both hang out and watch something and talk about it afterward. Sounds cheesy, but it's really fun! And we send each other thoughtful little gifts and letters. I was stressed over finals week and he sent me a big thing of bath salts to relax- stuff like that really goes a long way. When I finally went to visit him in December, all of my fears vanished. I realized that so much of the strain we were feeling could easily be washed away with a kiss on the forehead.

If you're upset about other, more internal flaws with your relationship- you at least have time to make your decision carefully. You're still in uni-right? What about getting involved with other organizations? Sometimes distraction is the best medicine.

I hope you feel better!

It needs to be notarized.
Read "Where to File" section.

I'm a bit confused. The new I-134 from the USCIS website explicitly says it no longer needs to be notarized. I had to meet with my cosponsor at the last minute in order to get I-134, birth certificate, paystubs and employer letter before I left for London (arrived this morning! kicking.gif kicking.gif ), and of course the two notaries in town were closed for the holidays, so we just filled out the new one and did not have anything notarized. I would have liked to, just to be on the safe side, but now I'm a little worried. Am I missing something?

QUOTE (MARM @ Dec 26 2008, 12:48 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I would not skip the notary because I wouldn't want to risk having to resend the I-134 and delay the visa just for pending documents...its better to be over-prepared. For London, the letters of intent to marry do not need to be notarized either, so besides the I-134 that you should get notarized just to be on the safe side, nothing else needs notarization. The NOA1 and NOA2 are not required, but it doesn't hurt for your fiance to have these easily accessible when going to the interview. Yes, you should include yours and your co-sponsor's birth certificate as proof of US citizenship for I-134. Besides this, you need to compile evidence of bona-fide relationship, don't forget the letters of intent to marry, one from you for your fiance, and one from your fiance for you, no need to get them notarized, and they can be as simple as the example one here is in the guides, just remember to put the date of the interview on them and have them addressed to the Embassy of the United States in London. Also, as far as stuff from you for your fiance, it is a good idea to take copies of what you filed for I-129F, this is not needed, but just to be on the safe side, I am doing this. And the rest is for your fiance to prepare: police certificates, original certified divorce decrees if any, birth certificate, DS forms, medical interview, etc. I am also planning on going with my fiance to the interview in London, when the time comes...
I am very excited for you! Keep us updated good.gif kicking.gif star_smile.gif

Thanks for your quick response! We've got all the other stuff you mentioned gathered, I am just thrown by this new I-134 since us July/August filers are likely the first people to use it. I'm jealous that you'll be going to your fiance's interview! I'm joining Sebastian for his medical on January 8th but he's on his own for the rest sad.gif. Good luck with your approval! I keep looking at this thread and my heart breaks for you every time I see ANOTHER touch. Hang in there!

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas smile.gif.

I'm just completing my I-134 now and have a quick question (especially for those of you marrying Brits). The newest edition of the form says that it no longer needs to be notarized, although London's embassy hasn't updated its website and still mentions the support forms be notarized. Do you think it's fine to use the newest edition and skip the notary? Also, is there anything else that typically needs to be notarized throughout the process? I'm giving my fiance a hard copy of the NOA1 and NOA2 as well as mine and my cosponsor's birth certificate, so those are all accounted for. I've read the guides, as well as the embassy's info a million times, but want to quadruple check since I'm officially giving him all of this when I fly to London on Saturday (Eek! SO excited!).

Thanks in advance!

DeathNova how do you know when your paperwork leaves NVC and when it arrives there? Just wondering so when i receive my NOA2 i can keep track. DO you call them? or they email , or can you check online like with USCIS website? Thanks

You call the NVC. The number is 603-334-0700 (I know this because it's safely stored in my cell phone haha). Basically you call, press 1 for English, press 2 and then get put on hold for a while until the operator picks up or they'll tell you they're too busy and to call back later. I find it's best to call after 6. They'll ask for your receipt number from the NOA1. Then they can tell you if they've received the case from the service center and give you your new case number. They'll tell you it takes 2-4 weeks for them to receive it from the service center and process it, but in most cases that's a total lie. Just keep calling. If you call back a few days after they've received it, they can tell you when they've sent it to the embassy.

Hope that was helpful!
