Great news from the Lone Star State -- check the timeline ... we're locked in for a 1/31 interview at the Embassy! biggrin.gif Plane tickets are all booked (and thankfully we were able to use miles!) and we're heading down the home stretch. Had a wonderful engagement ceremony at her home earlier this month and we've set April 19 as THE date. We're both still very guarded about the transition -- praying that the cultural differences aren't overwhelming and that she loves it here. Cautiously optimistic is probably the best way to put it.

Sara this is what I found in an e mail
Call 1-800-3755283
2, then 2, then 4, then 2, then 1, then put in your case number ( EAC AND THE NUMBER OR WAC AND THE NUMBER) then 1, and last 1....the last one will connect you with a live operator...

There are lots of ways to get the CSC direct in the menu.. I always would ask the rep if they were at the CSC or in New Mexico before I asked anything.

tim, I think you may have answered this question before so I am sorry, but how did you find our when your petition left CSC to NVC?? I have called twice and both times was told that there was no way to know that information. I am so anxious to get our stuff to the embassy and get our interview date that any tracking I can do is helpful to my sanity!

Well first of all any time I called the CSC I made sure the menu told me I was being transferred to the California center. If it doesn't tell you your being transferred to California your being routed to New Mexico and any time I got them I would thank them for answering and end the call. The New Mexico center doesn't know anything. Once I was on the phone with the California center I directly asked "What date was my potation mailed to the NVC?" Mine made it fairly quickly though. About 15 days. I would suggest calling the NVC on monday.



I'm sure yours will be there soon.

You can only find out if your case reaches NVC by phoning them. They should send you a letter when the case is assigned a new case number based on your embassy. Once the case is forwarded to your embassy and you have a case number you can make enquiries by phoning the Department of State

1. I never received a hard copy (that's the NOA1?), but called the customer service folks and they told me how to find the receipt number on the canceled check, which I did. I still never have received hard copies of anything in the mail -- will I need anything or is the ability to track progress online enough?

I am sure your approval is coming soon. I think the most important thing to do at this point is to try to hold onto your sanity. This is a very hard wait that has been very hard on my health and relationship with my fiancé. We are making it through it. Also too it is probably a good time to get police background check done and birth certificates too. I am organizing all the paperwork I have but not going to go overboard on proof of ongoing relationship. I will bring pictures and most of the many cards she has sent me and of course phone bills. Thank god for the internet though because my bills aren't too high anymore because we use skype.

This can be so frustrating! My petition was approved on 10/26 and the NVC still does not have record of it! As of today it's been 3 weeks sine my NOA2. I just spoke to my senators office about the long waits from the CSC to the NVC. I mentioned the difference in speed going from the VSC. She advised there really wasn't anything they could do to speed anything up. She called CSC and they told her it is taking 2-3 weeks to process approved K1 and K3 visas to be sent to the NVC.. I told her On Visa Journey it seems to be taking quite a bit longer then that and the CSC is saying it is taking up to 60 days. She is very nice in checking on this for me but still disappointing with the reality of this situation

That's why I invented the USCIS drinking game. Here's how it works: Every time you check your status, take a shot. If you get a touch, take 2 shots. If you are approved, take 3 shots, declare yourself the winner, and go to bed. Wait until tomorrow to tell us all you are approved so that you're not too inebriated to scream and shout in gigantic purple letters. =P

Some observations based on my own experiences: The more I check my status, the longer it takes me to check my status. Eventually I am physically unable to check my status. Problem solved!!
