I-130 approval 12/23, Nebraska service center shipped this to NVC on 12/27, NVC received this case and being put in their system on 1/13... Currently been 14 business counting MLK holiday. First, the simple vaccines don't hut ppl and that is the way they make money. So I would suggest that don't worry about it. Combination Vaccine for: Tetanus Diphtheria (Td) Tetanus Diphtheria Pertussis An initial series of three immunizations, which are normally received in childhood at ages 2, 4 and 6 months and a booster immunization within the last 10 years must be documented. or If you have no proof of a primary series you must begin an adult series of TWO doses of Td 4 to 8 weeks apart with a third dose 6 to 12 months after the second. US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 March 2014	I guess I could always drive to San Diego, that passport agency does not require proof of travel.   and maybe get a passport card. Then again, extra $60 for expedited passport, $55 for passport card, $12 parking, two hour drive.     Passport card can only take you to certain places Hey everyone, Got my oath ceremony letter in the mail today and I was indeed scheduled for August 27 - yay!!! So no need to update my info on the list, as it's already correct. LA seems to only have ceremonies once a month, but they have two on the same day, each serving 5,000 naturalization candidates, so a total of 10,000 people a month. US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 March 2014	I am a US citizen              1014 people from 99 countries in Oakland, California. There was literally over 100 people from China, Philippines and Mexico each.It was weird but they didn't aloud my wife and me to sit together even though we both did oath. I applied for passport as well; I guess in a couple of weeks I will update my SSN.   Thanks all of you and good luck to those are still waiting for this to be over. US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 March 2014	Even if you did apply for a German visa with your Chinese passport and made it to Germany without a US passport, you would have had big troubles on your way back here. Once you are a US citizen and you wanna travel internationally, you have no option but to get an American passport. And congratulations by the way !   Correct Myles2986. Once a citizen, the only way to leave and enter the country is with a US Passport. They have to remember that they are no longer a PR and as such do not have a GC. If the person leaves the US, he or she will need to show proof of status. While it may seem okay to leave using a foreign passport, travel record is documented in the immigration system. Returning on a Chinese passport sends flags all over and complicate things; the person will be asked for proof that allows entry into the US. There are only three options for entry - visa for visitors, GC for PRs, and US passport for citizens. US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 March 2014	Please do more research....U.S allows dual citizenship.  Dual Nationality Section 101(a)(22) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) states that ?the term ?national of the United States? means (A) a citizen of the United States, or (B) a person who, though not a citizen of the United States, owes permanent allegiance to the United States.? Therefore, U.S. citizens are also U.S. nationals. Non-citizen nationality status refers only individuals who were born either in American Samoa or on Swains Island to parents who are not citizens of the United States.  The concept of dual nationality means that a person is a national of two countries at the same time. Each country has its own nationality laws based on its own policy. Persons may have dual nationality by automatic operation of different laws rather than by choice. For example, a child born in a foreign country to U.S. national parents may be both a U.S. national and a national of the country of birth. A U.S. national may acquire foreign nationality by marriage, or a person naturalized as a U.S. national may not lose the nationality of the country of birth. U.S. law does not mention dual nationality or require a person to choose one nationality or another. Also, a person who is automatically granted another nationality does not risk losing U.S. nationality. However, a person who acquires a foreign nationality by applying for it may lose U.S. nationality. In order to lose U.S. nationality, the law requires that the person must apply for the foreign nationality voluntarily, by free choice, and with the intention to give up U.S. nationality. Intent can be shown by the person's statements or conduct. The U.S. Government recognizes that dual nationality exists but does not encourage it as a matter of policy because of the problems it may cause. Claims of other countries on dual national U.S. nationals may conflict with U.S. law, and dual nationality may limit U.S. Government efforts to assist nationals abroad. The country where a dual national is located generally has a stronger claim to that person's allegiance. However, dual nationals owe allegiance to both the United States and the foreign country. They are required to obey the laws of both countries. Either country has the right to enforce its laws, particularly if the person later travels there. Most U.S. nationals, including dual nationals, must use a U.S. passport to enter and leave the United States. Dual nationals may also be required by the foreign country to use its passport to enter and leave that country. Use of the foreign passport does not endanger U.S. nationality. Most countries permit a person to renounce or otherwise lose nationality. Information on losing foreign nationality can be obtained from the foreign country's embassy and consulates in the United States. US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 March 2014	Sorry all, seems like my note was posted before I completed it.   Hi All, I have been a passive member since my AOS days and I browse the forum from time to time. I came across this board and after reading all 80+ pages I figured I would chime in with my progress in the N-400 process. My eligibility window opened up on September 2nd, 2013, however I gave to our little girl at the end of July and immigration was no where on my mind at the time. In March, I finally got around to getting everything together to start the process. My timeline is as follows:     03/22/14: Mailed N-400 package 03/27/14: Text and Email that package was received 04/01/14: Check Cashed 04/25/14: Biometrics Appointment completed 04/29/14: Placed in line for interview 06/30/14: Received a yellow letter dated 06/26/14. Letter basically stated that I should bring my Driver's License and all passports, including expired to my interview.     As you can tell I'm approaching the end of USCIS 90 day window and still have not received an interview notice. Holding out hope that it arrives in the next couple of weeks, but I'm aware that NYC is severly backlogged and I'm part of it. I live in Queens, NY and based on my zip code, most likely my local field office is Holtsville, NY. New York has been moving slowly but surely. All other March filers on VJ for NY have been scheduled. Let us know when you receive yours as it helps with the timeline. US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 March 2014	Hello my VJ family, I just got back from my interview (26 Federal Plaza, NYC). My interview was scheduled for 10:10 and I got there about 9:50am. The line moved quickly and I entered the interview waiting room at exactly 10:10 am. There were about 150+ people in the waiting room. Some were really nervous whilst others were just revising their booklet. I was called in around 11:00ish by a middle aged gentleman. He was very nice. He introduced himself and walked me to his office. He made me take an oath to tell the truth, then he explained that he will interview me then we can revise my application. First he made me read how many senators are there? Then he asked me to write there are 100 senators. The interview questions were: 1. What does the president's cabinet do? 2.How many justices are in the Supreme Court? 3. Name one branch or part of the government. 4. We select a US senator for how many years? 5. If the both the president and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes president? I really can't remember the other question. After this he reviewed my application and questioned me about it. He asked if I had any questions ( I did ask him a few about name change and my kids getting a passport). Then he made me sign a few documents, gave me a receipt, and told me that I should receive an oath letter in the mail about 2-3 weeks from today. In general my experience was very pleasant. The immigration officer was very nice and informative. Congrats K96. I'm a fellow NY resident and use the NY timelines to estimate my process. Can you please update the schedule? US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 March 2014	My wife and I had our interview at 1015 hrs this morning at Dallas office. My wife went in first and came out with the oath letter for Tuesday which was good thing for me. I could mention this to my IO and have the oath same day if I pass it. Any way the IO called my name around 1030hrs and after oath she started with writing and reading. She then moved to civics and here are the questions: 1. How many senators we have? 2. When was deceleration of ind written 3. What is rule of law 4. What Ocean in east coast 5. What 13 stripes represent 6. What's the name of national anthem She then moved to application and although I had 714 days outside US due to my job she never even went over that. This was one of the best interviews I ever had. She was such a nice lady and we even talked about other things. She then handed me the approval notice and gave me oath letter for Tuesday. As far as I know, this is a public forum and people from all over the world are posting here. Some people a more fluent english speakers than others. I don't see why they should be criticized because contribution to this forum is just as important as yours! If you are so bothered by his posting why don't you stop reading the forum!  That is so true. It's very insulting. Congratulations for everyone who got good news and give you guys willpower to people who waiting for the next steps.   I passed interview yesterday( 11 June 14) woooo hoooo I?d like to share my experience :-) I arrived at USCIS 30 mins before appointment, passed security checkpoint and checked in for interview lobby and waited. Agents called my name I followed her to the room (every room is private) she asked for GC, DL and passport.   Civics Test/6 questions for me were What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen? Who was the first President? Who is the Governor of your state now? What movement tried to end racial discrimination? Name two national U.S. holidays? Where is the Statue of Liberty? English Test/ reading Who lives in the White House? English Test/ writing The President lives in the White House.   She asked about the answer in the application include yes/no answer in part 11, I signed name and she said congratulation you passed the test.  (about 30 days they will send letter for ceremony: at the court in downtown) she gave me the paper Naturalization Interview Results.   It was fast just 10-15 mins. :-)   @ can702 - Congratulationssss. I am really surprised that I got my interview scheduled before the other NYC March filers because I was the last on to get the biometrics done. Wise_Hawk, I had my fingerprints done on April 30th and I have been in line since May 2nd. Aurelius I am so excited for us New Yorkers! I can't wait to be done with immigration! Happy for you. Come on New York, get moving! Just passed the interview/test today It only took 15 min. I posted that comment from my phone which does what is wants to at times, but thanks anyway. Unfortunately NYC doesnt offer the day Oath Ceremonies. boooo  Hi Aurelius,   We both have the same basic timeline. I see that your NOA was April 1st. The New York office seem to be behind. I posted in the April Filers based on my NOA date, which is April 3rd, and I noted that while some states have a processing timeline of 5 months, NY has a 5.9 month timeline. Guess we have to wait a bit. Hope we will move from "in line for interview scheduling" to being an update that states "interview letter sent" in June.
