Africa: Sub-SaharanI129f approval...HELP !
Hello everybody.please I need an advise and it's urgent. My first question is that I filed for my fiancee and we have just been approved on the 8th of January.i kept checking uscis website online and it says case has been sent to NVC center since the 13th .my question is should I call them or the nigerian embassy ?

Now my 2nd issue...have been together with my fiancé for 12 years now and we do have an 8 years old son together .he lives in London but he's there legally so I filed for him as if his in Nigeria .i did not include his living in London in the application ..I got to the United States 2004 January ..and I travelled to London that same year and I was pregnant with my son . I dnt go to Nigeria until 2007 with my son and we spent over 3 months ...have been to Nigeria over 6 times since I came to the U.SA and I do spend 2..3 months in Nigeria on each visit ..I definitely travel to London too to see my fiancee .now my fear is if there is a red flag about the dates I became pregnant ? (2 ) we do have about 6 pictures of him and our son (the age my son went to Nigeria ) though they have several pictures they took together but the ages might raise a red flag (3) when should my fiancee travel to Nigeria ,because I don't want him to travel to Nigeria without having the interview date at hand because his scared of Nigeria (lol) we have pictures of him and my family together (dad and mom) my parents lives in America .(4) I have his name on the birth certificate of our son ..we do have call records but definitely his U.K number shows on the logs so it's a NO..NO .( though I do have receipts of paypal for buying cards online ) I have emails, pictures, tax returns but call logs is the problem here ..
Please we need help here ...would so much appreciate any advice in this forum..I FORGOT TO ADD HE HAS A NIGERIAN PASSPORT ISSUED IN THE U.K ...and I heard he has to go to Abuja to get a new one and declare that one missing because of the u.k stamp

USCIS Service CentersCSC Approving Transfered Cases

Good for your son , my moms case was transfer to CSC back in June ...... As of today she is still waiting ....

Hi Dee,

they transferred my sisters as well. Her son petitioned for her last year September and his dad in December. The dad got his EAD in February and his interview in March. He was approved and my sister's got her EAD in January and her I-485 was sent to CSC in January as well. My son's process began Jan 30 and his case was transferred in March. he got his card and she is still waiting. They told her it depends on who takes your case and start working on it.

My older son case was received by USCIS on June 21th, check cashed on the 22nd, and he did his interview August 29th. He was approved and got his GC yesterday. His process took 9 weeks. I've never seen that before.

USCIS Service CentersCSC Approving Transfered Cases
Hi guys,

CSC appears to be picking up the slack and approving cases that have been transferred for "faster processing." In March my 16 year old son's case was transferred to CSC and everything seemed to be going in slow motion after that. On August 30th I received a text that his I-130 was approved and on September 4th I received another for card production for his I-485. After that, I kept on receiving text messages literally everyday updating his status. Today, I received his Welcome letter and the new 10 years Green Card. Will be applying for citizenship in 2014. My sister whose case has been transferred in January is still waiting. I hope that the process will move quickly for you guys. All the best.

United KingdomFormer Marriage Certificate
QUOTE (Talyss @ Jan 19 2009, 03:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I have been trying to collect together all the documents on the package 3 checklist but am having real problems getting hold of a certified copy of my certifcate from my former marriage as I was married in St Lucia. The court kept the original I had when I was divorced and I only have a photocopy. I have the certified copy of my divorce decree, does anyone know if I need the marriage certificate as well for the interview?

Why would you need to prove your former marriage? I do not think anyone would pay to get a divorce if they were not previously married. I was married in Jamaica to my ex and divorced in New York and I was not even asked for a copy of my marriage license to prove my marriage when I started my divorce preoceedings because as I stated no one would be getting a divorce if they were not married. A copy of the divorce decree is what USCIS need as proof of a dissolution of a former marriage. The only marriage certificate that is needed is the current marriage as proof of relationship to petitioner (spouse). Hope this makes sense to you. Have a great day.

not completely true, if you entered without inspection (EWI) you are not "pardoned" upon marriage or being an immediate relative to a USC

Sorry about that. I should have said regardless of overstaying on the student visa. The following information is from an immigration lawyer.

As long as you legally entered the United States, which you did on your visa, you are eligible to adjust status by marriage to a US citizen even though you are now actually out of status. I have successfully done many green card applications for clients in this situation.

Normally, to adjust status and get a green card, one must be in a lawful immigration status. A big exception to this rule exists for "immediate relatives" -- the spouse, parent or unmarried minor child of a US citizen. As you are the spouse of a US citizen, you are an immediate relative and will be able to adjust status even though you are now out of status. Immediate relatives are also able to adjust even if they have engaged in authorized employment.

Does anyone know how their VISA route will work?

I get really frustrated about illegal immigrants after the mess I have been through, but she is still my friend, so I promised to get any information I could.

At the interview, the officer called me back first. He asked open ended questions about how we met, and how our relationship developed for about five minutes. Then he brought Vika back and asked the same things to see if our stories matched. He then told us the green card was approved, and told Vika to immediately destroy the AP and EAD documents when the green card arrives, as it is illegal to have both (EAD being a non-immigrant document, and GC being based on immigrant status). Vika was told that under no circumstances was she allowed to vote (duh), and that she should take care not to let the DMV register her when she gets her license, as this is a deportable offence and no waiver or appeal is possible. Then he warned us about the deadline for lifting conditions, and let us go. Total of maybe 15 minutes.

We had never heard about the voting issue, or the need to get rid of the EAD and AP documents. Wanted to pass it along.

we went on a speedboat that day.. he LOVED it.. i never seen him so entertained, he is usually REALLY laid back.. he was standing up and yelling and taking pics it was F U N!!!

That is so cute!

The first thing I want to do (but I've done this on my own so it doesn't count here really) is take him to an amusement park and make him ride the rollercoasters with me! I can't wait to see his reaction! LOL!

There are a million things I want to do with him that I've never done before either....I can't think of anything specifically right now though. Since seeing a cooking show on PBS last weekend where they were in Sicily, I've decided I must go there some day now. Maybe that will be the thing neither of us have ever done that we'll do together one day!

Ells - I took my husband to Six Flags and he rode the Spiderman ride. He was screaming like a girl. (don't tell him I told you). He vows he will never ride a ride again. The funny things is...he is such a dare devil...I don't get it.

That is funny. Shhh... nobody tell him zeen?

Mine would be for us to be able to relax without thinking about cancer again, then have the honeymoon we never get a chance to have. Another is being able to enjoy our life together like married people do. We had to curtail many normal things due to this darn cancer but because loving him is so easy, having him by my side is worth everything that we are unable to do right now. We used to go out together and we had to stop as he got very weak.

Anyway bright side is that the healing is taking effect as we speak. Oops that is not one thing but many things. Excuse my greed but I know you understand.

Thanks for the well wishes! JaE you look great in both pics...the 2nd pic is what I remember you like when I met you.

Hey jawi876, the Lord will not put on us more than we can bear. I remembered last September on my way to church when I started asking God why he thought that I could possible bear seeing my husband so sick - unable to walk, throwing up, losing weight, extremely fatigued, unable to eat, critically dehydrated, in pain 24 hrs etc. I started to ask God why did he bless me with such a wonderful man and then seemingly allow the devil to have full reign to curse us. Feeling cheated I vented to a couple of friends and sat down in church fuming and was too sad to even praise God during worship session because his words to me about "all things working together for the good of the that love the Lord..." didn't look very good to me. As the pastor spoke he looked straight at me and said "The Lord wants you to be still and know that he is God" The words hit me to my very core and I felt a release and a joy within. It was then that I knew that God wanted me to know that he is taking care of everything.

As the days passed by Stan got seemingly worse but my faith increased and I spoke positively to the situation. God had shown me that he is with us regardless of what we see, hear or feel and I was not going to let go of that reality. Did we have days when the look in the doctor's eyes said "we can't do more right now and we don't know the answers? Yes we did, but I told him that he is going to be shocked at the turn around and on Monday we saw him smile, scratched his head and said "you like to scare us right Mr. Clay? We do all these test and all your organs are fine." That is God's words coming to pass. When I was couldn't walk because I was almost dying due of the cancer and had to get 10 bags of blood, God told me to hold firmly to His promises and he gave me Acts 28:18 "who when they have examined me would have let me go because there was no cause of death in me." I lived to hear the doctors exclaiming at my rapid healing and calling all the doctors to come and see my healing process. One just stood and kept saying "OH MY GOD" over and over and over.

Anyway that is a little tid-bit of our testimony. The bible says in the book of Jeremiah that God desire is to heal us and to cure us and it surely is. Hold on my dear. He doesn't slumber nor sleep. Blessings to you and yours and I will pray for your total healing and quick recovery. Peace be unto you.

Morning my Jamaican peeps. Hi KK, sus and Trelawny Parish; how you all doing? Great news from the doctor on my husband's condition. Stan did a CT Scan on his brain and other organs to check the status of the cancer and the doctor told us that his organs looked ok and that the cancer has SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASED. I wanted to laugh, dance, jump, cry, hug my husband, kick the doctor out of the room so that I can scream etc. People, that is great news for us; you see, the doctor had to reduce the dosage of one of Stan's chemo drug as he wasn't tolerating it well and that should delay the process of healing. I can't get into it right now but we know that this is God showing us that he can work regardless of the situation or the circumstances because he doesn't need medicine in order to heal. I believe that he is just saying "hey I am the God of all impossibilities." The doctor told me last year that seeing Stan is in the last stage and on a clinical trial they are really just trying to prolong his life.Well God told me differently and i am choosing to believe God. I got the same report when I was diagnosed in 2004 and here I am today, CANCER FREE. He didnt even think that Stan would have made it last December after many clots traveled to his lungs but miraculously the clots shrink in size just 13 days later when he did a CT Scan. The doctor could not understand it.. but we did yes.gif

Keep us in your prayers. I am getting documents copied for the AOS interview in 28 days. I have completed my album..well our anniversary is 16 days away so I'll be adding more pictures. I have copied some supporting documents and I'm now waiting on my SS# to file joint taxes for this year and make my copies.

BTW Phillyfashionista I am proud of the weight lost wow! You have proven to yourself that you can do it so the 19 lbs you have gained can be lost again. I went to the gym yesterday after having membership for so long and not going to do my workout. Can you believe me that the gym is 2 minutes away from my house if I walk? Now that is part laziness, part arthritis problem and part distress but mostly laziness headbonk.gif . I am trying my best to eat small portions instead of eating big meals. I am cutting all sugar out of my wanna-be diet as I have proven that it is a major weight gain source. As a matter of fact I am heading there by 11am.

Love you all and I am truly praying for everyone. Be blessed.

It taste good too, you know dat Jamaicans CAN COOK.. A OH. Enjoy going out too but as my hubby is not doing too well we stay home most of the time. he is getting treatment for final stage cancer but he is doing much better than he was last year.

So sorry that you two are going through all that. Now you know you've got prayers from VJers to help the cause. I pray his recovery comes quickly!

Thanks Ellsinlove, God knew why he allowed us to meet each other cause I was diagnosed too and we actually met in the waiting room at the hospital while waiting to be called for radiation therapy. He knew that at a time as this Stan would need someone who understand what he is going through and be there for him with compassion. It is tough but wew are going through. December was scary for me when he was diagnosed with pulmonary embolism (clot in the lungs). he has multiple large clots and the doc thought he would not make it. he lost 20 lbs in 10 days and it was rough but the Lord kept his promise and now he is doing much better and is pain free. Cancer has shrunk a little and that is great hope for us.
Thanks again VJers

KayCee, I could never get use to soap operas. My grandmother loved them.

Chile is my husband fault. Wasn't into it myself but he got me hooked. We use it as our bonding time. We used to go to the movies but with the cost of that we just wait until the DVD's are in Blockbuster or watch them free on watch_movie.net or ovguide.com.

Going to watch my pot before mi bun mi fowl. Cooking up some oriental stir fry chicken, yum yum.

**O.k. I think I did this wrong the first time so let's try again...**

Good Morning Ladies....

As always I have been lurking on the site for what Quana like two years now. I'm very good friends with Quana and she has asked me to post but mi neva do but I'm always on here reading so most of you, I feel like I already knoa. Anyway I was wondering if any of you ladies could help me with an idea.

I have been dating someone for almost two years now and I went to Jamaica in Feb to celebrate my birthday and I must say that was one of the best birthdays ever!!! I had the time of my life so I wanted to return the favor and go celebrate his birthday with him in May. It actually falls during Memorial Weekend. I asked him what he would like to do and he told me to surprise him Ughhh. He says he has NEVER celebrated a birthday before even from childhood so he has no idea what he would do because normally every year he is working on his birthday so he goes to work and then comes home and goes to bed.. Ewwww. So I want to make it special but of course not go over board.

I'm a Mobay girl so I was thinking about us maybe checking out Negril this time. In order to get cheap airfare I won't be arriving until his actual day but I do get there at like 11:30 a.m. So its still early enough. I'm not sure if we should go to lunch and then go hang out where I don't know. I was checking out some spot in Negril that offers romantic dinner on the beach at Sunset by candle light. I wonder if maybe we should do that and then go clubbing afterwards?? Should we check out a strip club I heard something about Rub a Dub (not sure if that is what's it called) Umm I don't know I'm normally good at these things but with him I'm stumped. See he's not really a party gooer and he doesn't really do the beach and well he is always just laid back so I'm not sure if I should take him out his norm or what. Aghhh you see how frustrated I am?? Has anyone every celebrated their SO birthdays and if so what did you do? Umm I wonder if I should try to order a small cake from somewhere or maybe just get dessert at the restaurant??

Help Please!!!!!!!

Mawnin to you DaDa,

I am new to the forum myself...been reading the yardie dem business and shout-outs and never know how to jump into the conversation before dem ask mi which window mi come through and a who mi b lol. I know how hard it is when you want to do something spectacular for the one you love and everything you think of just seem blah and you wondering if it going to tek d cake. But mek mi ask yuh someting..weh yuh a tek d man go a strip club fah blink.gif whistling.gif wacko.gif no0pb.gif ??? Unless he likes that, but you said he is laid back but you should know if that is his norm.
Girl take him to a nice romantic dinner and then to the club (for dancing yes.gif ). I know you said he is not a party goer but dancing he might appreciate. Get him something special or a few gifts and wrap them individually and give them to him at different times throughout the day leaving the one you consider the best for last. It doesnt have to be things way over the top, maybe a nice wrist-watch, a shirt, a pair of sneakers, a nice pair of jeans, a cup with your picture printed on it (Kodak can do that) . The gift you think is best can be given to him almost mid-night just before his birthday ends. Make it memorable and all about both of you, not some other naked body girl lol.
Anyway it is up to you what you want to do and everybody who read this might just be asking is where me come from wid all dem yah 19 century ideas but I am just making suggestions, yuh si mi?
Tek care...Karen

I read it last week KKholiday and told him to make a hard copy as proof of what his wife of almost 3 months is doing. I believe that she should be deported for marriage fraud and abuse. He is saying that he is in love with her but he needs to wake up and realise that 'it takes a fool to learn that love dont love nobody"

Hello everyone. I need help with a question that may seem lame but I wanted to ask anyway. Next week I will be in Jamaica and I have a funeral to attend. I have a few questions:

1. What do I wear?
2. What happens at a Jamaican funeral?
3. Do they have a "repass" like we do in the states?

Anything else I should know? Please feel free to post.

Thanking you all in advance!

Blessings........

1. Jamaican like to dress so wear a nice outfit (black, purple, white, off-white, grey)
2. They have a church service with the body in the church, after which they take the body in a hearse to the burial plot and another service is held where they "commit" the body in the ground.
3. I don't know what a repass is but we have one funeral and there is no second service later in the afternoon or at a later date. Who didn't make it to the funeral ends up missing the whole thing. The person who passed is taken to the burial site or if they are to be cremated it is done at a later date but there is no second "showing" of the body.

Depending on where the funeral takes place and if the family can afford it, then there may be something to eat afterwards; if it is in the rural area the family usually cook for the mourners. Prior to the funeral the family of the perosn who passed have what is known as "Nine Nights" we call it "Ni-nite" where friends stay until late in the night playing dominoes, drinking white rum and beer or other liquor and eating fried fish, curried goat or chicken. I guess it all depends on what they have to offer.
