no that job was the main source of income but what i am wondering is if everything is already sent to them her recent check stubs taxes letter from the employer etc do they call her job/jobs when they review aos package? and see if she is till working there or just take the letter and check stubs as proof..it just really sucks we need sponsors anyway its not like they are taking care of our spouses sure i dont make enough to their liking and neither do alot of people but its not like we are asking our sponsors for anything but to sign for us.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNAO2 received, working on second half of information now!

I don't think you should be worried. You could call if you want but if you got your NOA2 letter then that's all that really matters (in my opinion).

You'll be a family of 2. You must make more than 125% of poverty level for the amount of people that you'll be supporting in your household (including yourself). Do you have any kids even if they live with their father/mother (regardless if it's joint/full custody)?

Thanks for the feedback.  It will only be the two of us, we don't have any children.  I did find this as a guideline which put things into perspective.

www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

Looks like the number they are looking at is $19,387.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNAO2 received, working on second half of information now!

7 months to the day that they received our application they approved it!  One step down and what seems so many to go.  A couple of things that have got my attention.  The USCIS have not updated our information via the USCIS website.  So when I received the notice in the mail I was very shocked and almost didn't believe it.  I was checking the site up to 4 times a day! Should I contact them and ask why or just leave it for now??

Second in regards to the Affidavit of Support, the 2013 poverty thresholds have been posted.  Do we consider us to be 1 family  unit or 2??  Roughly a $4000 dollar differance.  This is the website that I found it on. www.familiesusa.org/resources/tools-for-advocates/guides/federal-poverty-guidelines.html

Just curious so that I know how much they requrie me to have. Also please correct me if I need to be looking at a differant set of numbers or equation.

Looking forward to this new chapter and can't wait to get married to my love!!

For those of you who are still waiting, It's not easy and I hope that you have a wonderful support system.  Prayers, good vibes, whatever you believe in I'm sending your way!

Thanks a lot Jonathan. I realize you had to spend some time reading/writing this response and I apologize for taking so much time of yours.

I am just concerned seeing others stumble upon not doing little things correct which then delays the entire process so just want to keep myself on top of everything.

I sincerely appreciate your response. Thanks again. I will follow your suggestions and try to keep everything organized so the process is smooth altogether.

Thanks,

Congrats, it seems you should be done by the end of this month.

I did send you a message couple days ago but it seems writing in the forum is the best way to get in touch.

Hope you wouldn't mind me being naive but since you already have a packet 3 documents (and now packet 4), I just thought may be you can answer few quick questions for me if it is okay with you ?

We recently got an approval for our I129 application. My Fiancee is in Sydney.

Now we are waiting for our case to be received by NVC. What process did you follow?

1. Did you have to call NVC to get your case number?

2. What happened after you received your case number from NVC?

3. Was packet 3 sent to your Fiance(e) ? Was it send via e-mail (someone recently mentioned this so just wanted to be sure) or was it sent via regular mail? I have to change my fiancee's address in AU since she has recently moved but if the packet is sent via e-mail then I may not have to worry about it.

4. Were you guys notified when your case got to NVC and when it left NVC and received by Consulate?

5. What documents were included in packet 3?

6. Did you guys have to send anything to the Consulate before receiving packet 3?

7. Did you include original NOA2 and original I134 when you sent it back to the consulate?

I would greatly appreciate if you can share this information. It has already taken us so long to get approval and I do not want to delay the process by missing a step in the process and want to get it done right the first time.

I hope I am not asking for too much.

Thanks for your help.

I got your email, but there's a lot of questions there - there was no short answer I could send you.  Also, we've had a fairly busy week ourselves.

Most of the answers you are looking for are posted elsewhere on this website, or will be sent to you by the Consulate when the time comes.

Bear in mind that I am not an expert at this (far from it!) and that your experience may vary depending on your personal circumstances, country of origin and so on.  The best I can do is to relay our experiences to date.

1. We have not communicated with the NVC by phone or email at all.  We applied in September last year by sending the I-129F and evidence to an address in the USA.  We got our NOA1 in October 2012 to say it had been received.  In May 2013, our NOA2 was mailed to my fiancee's address in the USA.  Around 12 days later, she received a second letter stating that our case had been transferred to the NVC (NVC receipt).  These letters were scanned and forwarded to us by family because she has been living here with me in Australia for the past 18 months.  Around 5 days after the NVC receipt was sent by mail, we got an email from the US Consulate in Sydney which included our case number and our Packet 3 instructions with everything you need to know including the checklist I was looking for in our post above (this thread).  From then on, we were dealing only with the US Consulate in Sydney.

2. The case number arrived in an email with more instructions on how to complete Packet 3 and a request that we return form DS-230 Part I as soon as possible.  We did so, then began gathering the documents required to assemble Packet 3, to be sent the US Consulate in Sydney.

3. The Packet 3 instructions were sent via email because we elected the email option wherever possible.  The Packet 3 documents are then sent by you TO the Consulate when you are ready to be interviewed.  You should ALWAYS keep your current address information up-to-date regardless.

4. The answer to this is more or less answered by my reply to Question 1.

5. Packet 3, as far as I understand, is the list of documents and evidence that you compile.  So it includes copies of birth certificate(s), passport, police clearance, medical records and all the forms requested in the Packet 3 instructions which are sent to you (probably by email) by the US Consulate in Australia (probably Sydney).

6. No.  After the I-129F was sent in September last year, all we have done is to keep our contact information (address and email address) up to date.  Then came the NOA1, the NOA2, the NVC receipt and finally the Packet 3 instructions.

7.  The NOA2 is yours to keep.  The I-134 and supporting evidence forms part of Packet 3, which you must assemble and send back to indicate you are ready to be interviewed.  We completed Packet 3, which took us several weeks, sent it (with some help from the people who replied to this thread - thank you all!) and that was just last week.  We got an email notifying us of my interview date today, with the interview set approx 3 weeks from now.

I can understand what you mean about wanting to keep the process moving smoothly.  It has been almost a year since we first applied.  212 days to get the I-129F approved and 300 days between sending off our I-129F and getting our final interview date.  Hang in there!

Hope this has helped.

- Jonathan

Just so you know in Australia it is not required to submit evidence of relationship. You also must include originals of your birth certificate and police check, you won't need the x-ray probably ever seeing as they have never had a case of tuberculosis from an Australian immigrant, but take it on the plane with you in case they ask to see it at your port of entry, the consulate don't care about it though.

That's some very helpful information - thank you!  I was wondering why some people included more or less than others.  And why in certain cases the x-rays were discounted entirely.  I've got mine.  I'll take them.  If they don't want them, so be it.  It was reassuring to read that they looked "normal".

We did include an envelope with some evidence of our ongoing relationship, but we kept it fairly basic and offered to bring more to the interview if required.  Finding the checklist on page 7 of the DSL-1076 actually answered a lot of questions.  When you are dealing with a large amount of paper, it's easy to miss.

In their email reply the Consulate also instructed me to open the sealed envelope that Kinetic Health had given me at my medical examination.  Inside the envelope was the x-rays, some details of the results and a second sealed envelope. We left that sealed and included it in Packet 3 as per the checklist.

We included my original birth certificate, a colour photocopy of my passport, my original police clearance and certified copies as and where required for other items.  The supporting evidence for the I-134 was probably the largest chunk of paper, but all I all I am pretty sure we got it right.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Hey hope this helps and isn't to late. This is what i sent in with my packet 3. I put it all neatly in a folder. Never had an issue at the interview. Just send in as much as you can and if they need anything they will email you before your scheduled interview date. .

* DS-1076 Applicants statement of readiness to be interviewed + Checklist - Signed and dated

* DS-156 - 2 copies - Signed

* DS-156K - Unsigned

* DS-157 - 2 Copies

* DS-3025 -  Copy of Vaccination work sheet from Medical (original sent to Consulate)

* I-134 - Affidavit of Support

- Pay stubs

- Past 3 Year Tax Transcripts

- Letter from Employer

- Beneficiary Property deed

- Australian Home loan bank statements

- Letter from Real estate agent showing Intent to sell property once visa approved

Other Documents :

* Police Certificates from 3 Countries - AUSTRALIA, CANADA, ENGLAND

* Birth Certificate

* Childs Birth certificate (US Citizen - 3 months old)

* Letter of Intent to Marry signed from both of us

* Copy of Biometrics passport page

* Evidence of Relationship - Photos, 25 Airline Tickets, Emails,

* Evidence of Engagement - Ring Receipt

Thank you so much!!  That helps so much thank you.  We ended up finding the checklist at the end of DS-1076 and the clarified so much for us.  They have received our packet this morning.  Fingers crossed all goes well and we get an appointment for the interview soon.

My fiance and I have all the required documents for packet 3 but the list on what to send and documents to keep and take with you are not clear.

I know that we include:

DS-156

DS-156K

DS-157

DSL-1076

However including his original birth certificate, passport, police clearance, medical records and x-ray seems like its not very logical.  Also do we include the Affidavit of Support and all supporting evidence or take that with him to the interview?  We are dealing with the US Consulate General in Sydney.  We have sent them an email and all they said was to refer back to the checklist that we pointed out wasn't very clear.

Is it possible that anyone can help with some feed back, we just want to get this right!!??

Great, I hope it works out. Please do post back here, as this sounds simpler for sure than what we had to go through.

PhilippinesObtaining Royal Thai Police Clearance

Makes sense, and we were prepared to do the same if need be. It took us a month after got the paperwork sent to Thailand, maybe 5 weeks. If you have enough time, it should be safe to do from Manila. But it will probably be easier yes to go to Thailand. Make sure she has some thing to show she was residing there, work permit, student permit, etc. Make sure she brings everything she'd need, it would suck to get there and realize they need some document she doesn't have!

went to the Royal Thai embassy to get all my papers authenticated and to my surprise, i was told that they dont do the old procedure anymore, but to contact the Philippine embassy bangkok instead and get some info from them...i made a research online and found out from another forum that i could do apply by mail and they have new procedure effective October of 2012...the Royal Thai police charges 100 Baht ( about 150 pesos ) for every application made from their office, and can be paid through telegraphic transfer, send a sopy of the transfer together with all the documents listed from their website, 2 sets of fingerprints, id, request letter from embassy etc...
i will try this procedure and i hope it will work just fine, for i am trying to save as much as i can for this process... ( used to work in few countries in asia )
for those who wants to know the updated procedure visit the website of the Police Clearance Service Center in bangkok....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForeign Police Certificate

Hi, i've worked in Malaysia too, how long is it valid? and are you able to extent the period?

in my country, all police certificates are valid for one year according to the US embassy website... im not pretty sure about your next question...extend the period of validity?
i made an online application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia Official Portal on this site http://www.kln.gov.my/ go to e-Consular and then click Certificate of Good Conduct as they call it. you have to register as a new user first before you would be able to use the e-services...and then fill-up an online application form for pcc and once its done print them...together with the other documents needed as stated on the website and id pictures, submit all the documents to the Malaysian embassy in your country, pay a little fee and wait for the approval of your application online which can be found on the same website....once you see that your application has been approved print the page and submit it to the Malaysian embassy, and they will make the certificate for you signed by the consul general. ( Its just a piece of paper that says you have no adverse record with the government of Malaysia )
im not sure if the processing is the same from your country...but thats how i did it and i already got mine... ( Thank God )
hope this info could help you too...God Bless!

In Oman even if you are not in the country you can mail them what they need and they send it back within the same week of receiving it. The only extra time it will take is the time it takes to get the documents to Oman via fedex, maybe an additional 3 or 4 days. Oman is a very small country, they are very fast and efficient.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForeign Police Certificate

My husband lived in Muscat, Oman for many many years before he lived in Jordan. He received his PCC in less than a week, and they sent it to him in Jordan. It does not take 2-4 months. To the OP: In Oman they will request your resident number, a copy of your biographic page from your passport and for 2 passport style photos. To obtain it you go to the police station in Al-Qurum, that is the only place in Oman that issues them. If you are not in Oman a friend or someone in the family can do it for you. My husband's sister who still lives in Oman did it for him last year and it literally took a few days to get it. It is printed in both English and Arabic so you won't need to have it translated. Good luck!!!

yeah i do agree that pcc can be obtain in just few days if you are personally present at the country where you need the pcc or someone you knew from there could help you get it on your behalf...
i got my china one in 3 days after application, coz i did it myself before leaving the country... but with the other 3...took me 2 to 3 months to get them...(that's if you dont have a friend or relative who could do the application for you....) i submitted my application to their embassy here in my country except for Thai pc where application must be submitted directly to the Thai Police service center Bangkok and can only be done by mail if you are not present in the country.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForeign Police Certificate

I would like to have some information on Police Certificate required at the time of interview. I haven't received my NOA2 yet, but trying to gather some information beforehand.

Foreign police certificates: Applicants who have resided in any other country for one year or more after the age of 16 may also be required to submit police certificates for these countries. Applicants may check the visa reciprocity table on the website: www.travel.state.gov regarding obtaining such certificates. U.S. police certificates are not required for applicants who have lived in the U.S.A. Non-Indian immigrant visa applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the district police station serving their area of residence."

I have found the above information on US Embassy, New Delhi website in "INFORMATION FOR K1 (Fiancé) VISA APPLICANTS (PACKET 3)". After my previous marriage, I stayed in Oman for 13 years. Just before our separation I was on employment visa. When I got separated from my ex-husband, I resigned from my job & returned to India. So my employment visa automatically got cancelled. And I never went back to Oman after October 2007. I am staying in India for past 5.5 years now. In this case, is it mandatory for me to get Foreign Police Certificate from Oman?

Hi...yes its a must for anybody who is applying for a US visa to get police clearance from the country you used to stay for more than 6 months ( whether you stayed for work, studying, visit etc)...you should get one from Oman and it takes time to obtain one...(depending on the country) normally it takes 2- 4 months to get one.
i guess you should start getting information on how to get one from Oman while waiting for your NOA2...see if it possible to apply from their embassy in India.
I applied for Malaysia,Thai,Japan and China...
goodluck to you and hope this helps a bit.
God bless!
