K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterview date -
I know exactly how it feels and indeed, it's really hard being far away from the one you love. There will be times that you'd consider trading everything you have in this world just to be with your honey. Just hang in there for the time to be happy will come. You're one step closer and you've been through a lot already. You're not alone and everyone here needs to go through the same situation. Make yourself busy to make the wait bearable and you'll see, in the end, it's worth all the wait. Hang in there (the most used phrase here) and you'll pass this through.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed a little reassurance :(
Now it makes me feel bad even more that yesterday I was throwing rants and getting impatient for our NOA2 and to think that it's only been 3 weeks since our NOA1 receipt date. I thought Vermont is the only service center that approves cases quickly? Maybe you should start making calls now. Geez, I don't think I would be able to wait that long but I guess when it comes to immigration, we have no other choice but wait for our turn and pray that our approval is one step closer.

Hang in there Cat and I will pray for you! You can be sure that everyone here will give youu the reassurance that you need.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-134 Question 7

My fiancee is a retiree but the pension he's getting is more than enough to support a household of 6. He's living alone and I'm the only person he supports. He got some properties, life insurance and bonds but he's not comfortable declaring it in Affidavit of Support for our later use. Is it really ok if we don't include those things and stick on his retirement pay? We have supporting documents for everything but we're thinking if we can just declare how much he's receiving monthly without including his properties.

Mae

If the retirement pay is more than 125% of poverty level that is all you need to put down.

Yes, his retirement pay is more than 125%. So it's ok not to declare all his properties, huh? :D

Mae,
The best plan is to find things to keep you busy while waiting for the process. You can get a general time frame from looking at other timelines from your consulate, as others have said. However, you never know when things will take a turn. This process is just so unpredicatable. I have read that Manilla is slow (by comparison) to get the interviews scheduled. However, we seemed to fly from submission of the petition to interview and now seem to be forgotten in AP land. (I know we're not, but watching others pass us by makes it seem that way). I have found that by busying myself the time seems to go faster. Good luck with your journey.

Thanks maggieNomar! Good thing I am employed right now and I have something to keep me busy everyday. My David advised me the same thing and he said it's too early to be a worrywart since our NOA1 is only 3 weeks old. I can't believe my sweetheart called me that way .

Good luck with your journey as well!

Hello Mae!!! Yeah, the wait can be pretty bad. For everybody. Maybe that is why some people "snapped" a bit at ya for wondering about the 3 week wait. Hang in there....the reward is there. And yes, everybody here has everybody else's sympathy because of the pathetic process we all have do endure to simply be with our beloved one. All the "proof" and "paperwork" and "RFE" and "evidence" Enough to drive any of us crazy. Does somebody really read all that stuff? :P

But....I do see some posts about people that get the visa then state "the marriage is not going to happen" or something like that. I think this is why we have to work so hard to prove our relationships are "true" and even then, sometimes they are not.

Good Luck on your journey and remember you have friends and sympathizers here even if some people get a little snappy. :innocent:

Randy

 That's why I apologized for what I posted. I forgot that I was not the only one in this journey of life. I know that it was too early for me to get impatient but sometimes, when loneliness starts creeping up on you, you'd begin to question why life is so unfair. :crying: Long distance relationship is not very easy especially when you both love each other too much. Anyway, I'm just so glad to be here at VJ because more than anyone else, VJers here fully understand how I feel and it helps to think that I can get the symphaty and solace that I always look for whenever I need one (even if they get snappy sometimes).

Of course, remember the comparison some Americans have: make the decision, go to Las Vegas, Elvis does his thing (thankyouverymuch), and you're married. Total elapsed time anywhere from 30 minutes to maybe a week.

When I tell my friends that, even though we've got our hearts set on marrying we can't schedule anything for six to nine months, they can't believe it... (And then when I tell them that once we finally know, we'll have less than 90 days to get everything arranged, they really are astonished!)

 I explained this matter to my family and they couldn't seem to understand why we have to wait too long before we could get married and then once I made it there in US, we only have 90 days to get everything done. I just told them that that's how things go and we should abide the rules and regulations and follow procedures.

Also once you get the NOA2 it will take a week or two to have your petition sent to the NVC then another week or so to get to the Consulate and I believe your Consulate schedules about 2 months into the future but you can check timelines for that!

I see... Thanks Sarah and Hicham! :luv:

Is it really supposed to take this long before you could receive the NOA2? We got our NOA1 last December 14, 2006 and it's been like 3 weeks since then. Normally, how long before we'll get our much awaited NOA2? I'm getting impatient

If your petition went to TSC and then to CSC, it will probably be about 60-90 days.

Our case was originally mailed to NSC and then transferred to CSC. Can I choose the 60 days? :D I really can't wait to be with my baby!

Not to put gas on the fire...but isn't Manila SLOW ???? compared to other consulates ? I mean I see people waiting several months for the interview...Where Like Romania it's weeks..

The good thing is once the approval is done things seem to go faster..because your doing things and she has things to do..and it just passes the time faster...

I'm not sure but hopefully once our case is approved at NVC, it won't sit very long at USE here in Manila (fingers crossed).

Feel very fortunate, becoz we were waiting over 2 months before you even visited your fiancee for the first time and still have another 2 months to go at least.
Some of us from March got bent over for almost 8 months!!
I would have given damn near anything for it to take 60-90 days like it does about now.

Please be aware of others timelines when complaining! lol Some of us are a tad bit touchy. Hope you don't have to wait as long as us, no one should....

good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs it really?

This is the long and frustrating part of the process. Use this time to get your home prepared for her arrival. I'm sure that it could use some painting and general deep cleaning. Consider what she will be missing from home and try to find things and places, like stores that carry goods from her home country.

The previous opinions have been pretty easy on you. This is a long and slow process. Generally it is three or more months for the application process. After that you have the National Visa Center (NVC) which can be 1 to 5 weeks (or more) and then the U.S. embassy in her country. That can vary from country to country, so look into the timelines for her country and get more familiar.

You are now involved with a lot of people that have or are going through this process. Ask questions, read guides and other sections and make a few friends. It will help to make the time pass.

Be patient.

I forgot to tell you that I'm the fiancee of the USC, sorry :D. He's already readying the house for me because he's being optimistic that it won't take that long (6 months or so) and we'll be reunited. My heart was breaking last New Year's Eve because he's all alone at home while I was having a wonderful time with my whole family here. How I wished I could make myself disappear here and be transported right beside him. That's why when I got back here at work and was able to get on the computer, I looked for solace and sympathy because more than anyone else, people here at VJ will fully understand how I was feeling. Sorry for the rants...

I guess that's the reason for all these rants  and I needed to vent a little because I get so frustrated whenever I couldn't be with my guy in times that I get so lonely and cold :crying: and I tend to look for sympathy :help:, which I could easily find here. Anyway, thank you guys for the replies... I feel better now knowing that everyone here goes/went through the same situation. I'll try to be more patient next time (good luck to me-LOL)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A previous marriage date and place box

I have a question about date and place of previous marriage on the G-325A form. I had a previous marriage in Japan and the city name, prefecture, and country ends up too long and not fitting in the box along with the date. Can place of marriage just be city or country?

You can use extra sheet of paper if the information is too long to fit in the provided box. You can just put "See supplement page" on it and then mark the exta page as "G-325A Supplement Page: Question #__." My fiancee has been married thrice and the box wasn't enough to accomodate all the information for his previous marriages so that's what we did.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about proof of meeting within 2 years

Hi,

I'm a newby here. This site seems like an awesome source of information. Since we all have our own special "twists," I hope no one will mind a simple question. Right now, my fiancee and I are beginning to gather docs preparing to send the I-129f to NSC.

I saw on the guidelines pages photos need to be dated for less than 2 years. Does "dated" mean the internal camera date must be superimposed? This may be a problem, because I never had the camera date the photos. Or can I simply write the dates on copies of the photos?

My fiance and I met summer 2004, and have many photos and many jointly signed documents. We lived together for almost all of 2005 in Kiev, and have a copy of the lease. If the undated photos won't work, there are a few other items, too.

I'm also assuming I will send copies of airline ticket stubs, and other goodies documenting our meeting.

What's the easiest and simplest evidence to establish we have met within the last two years? If all I need to produce for Nebraska Service Center is some photos with the date scribbled on them, and ticket stubs, why bother with the other docs like the apartment lease and the like?

Thanks,
George

Hi George! You can write the date and a short caption at the back of the photos you want to include in your packet. That's what we did. And yes, you will also need to include copies of airline ticket stubs and anything that will prove that you have met her. The apartment lease and the like will be useful to show them that you two lived together. It's better to provide evidences that you think will help you strengthen your case. Overdoing your packet won't hurt. You can never tell when they will ask for more proofs so make sure you got them handy and provide backups as well coz sometimes unexpected things could happen (whether you like it or not).

Sorry, my mistake. I had my fiancee checked all the documents we got - the originals and our backup copies - and she told me that we submitted original letters of intent to marry in our I-129F. We were together when we compiled and arranged our packet but I couldn't remember if we sent original for the intent to marry. I guess that's the problem in overdoing your packet :D. We're hoping that it won't take that long because the waiting is unbearable and being far away from each other is awful. We thought we got everything right but it looks like we have so many loopholes in our paperwork. I see that you got your NOA1 back in September and still waiting for the precious NOA2. That's darn too long of waiting! Anyway, good luck on your journey and we're keeping our fingers crossed that everything will go smoothly with our case (though it's just a wishful thinking).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetter from his commander? For I-129F packet

I am not sure if there is such a letter required on passing the I-129F packet to USCIS IF the petitioner is a military official. But I do remember that I've read somewhere that there is a letter required from the military's commander, just aint sure what kind of letter is that. What's on the body of the letter and all that stuff.

If someone can enlighten me with this one, I would really appreciate that coz we want to meet all requirements needed before passing the packet..

Thank you in advance.

Maybe you are referring to the letter you can use to expidite your case. As a military man, your case can be expidited with the help of your fiance's commander writing a letter to the USCIS or something like that. I'm not sure about all this but some people here can explain it to you further.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion 18: How you met.

Is this referring to how you first met or how you've met over the past 2 years? Should it be in paragraph form or with bullet points or what? Sorry if this has been asked many times before!!

make it like a detailed story and as professional as possible. Include exactly how you met, how your relationship blossomed, how many times you have seen each other. When i did mine, i incorporated the evidence we included in as well by using attachments. (i.e I visited Ms. .... ...... on July 03,2006 (see attachment 1).). and attachment 1 was a copy of the airline ticket.

Detailed story is a lot better and make it sure that you have supporting documents to prove it i.e. pictures, airline tickets, boarding passes, hotel accomodation and receipts, etc. You can write it anyway you want as long as you can be sure that there will be no loopholes.

Welcome Webber! For now, sit back and relax and hope that everything goes through smoothly. In a week or so, you will receive your first notice of action (NOA1) informing you that your case is received and tranferred to California Service Center. Since NSC is currently not processing Fiance Visa, CSC will be the one who will review and approve your case. If you won't receive the NOA1 right away, you can inquire at your back if the check that you issued is endorsed. At the back of it will be your case number that you can use in checking the status of your petition at USCIS website. Please read the guides for more information. Being here at VJ will help you a lot in a way that you can ask for insights from all of us here.
