The world's oldest known Christian Bible goes online Monday -- but the 1,600-year-old text doesn't match the one you'll find in churches today.

It is suggesting that the bible teachings are inacurate.

I knew someone was going to go there with this topic.

Of course it doesn't match. IT'S WRITTEN IN GREEK. Not only that, it's DIGITIZED and the pieces, the actual parts of it, are scattered throughout the globe.

And unless English speakers also read and understand Arabic, formal Arabic, their Qu'ran doesn't match the one you'll find in, say, Saudi or Yemen.

If your intention is to pick a fight about the validity of the Bible, let's go. If, on the other hand, your intention is to discuss the value of such an important document, we can do that, too.

As a devote Muslim woman I don't have nothing to prove to anybody but ALLAH first and then my Husband. Nor will I debate his Holy Word because it is forbidden.

Crazy much?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPlease post in existing threads when appropriate
QUOTE (vareska @ Jun 26 2009, 05:13 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Lately, lots of new threads are popping up where people just open up a new topic to share that they have been approved, received NOA1, what have you, and then the entire thread pretty much consists of other random people congratulating that person.
Don't get me wrong, I am happy for you as much as the next guy, but...
Imagine you are a newbie, completely confused and you are having to search through dozens and dozens of (useless) topics before you find anything relevant.
I would just like to suggest that you post your happy news in an existing thread, it sure would make things easier. There are many threads "divided" by region, month in which you filed, etc... why not post your good news there where other people can benefit from comparison with your case, because then they can expect similar timeline?
I feel like I am being bombarded with "congratulate me" and "pray for me" threads, and I just think it is unnecessary.
Let's be courteous to one another and do some research before we post, please?

Thanks

I would think that there are bigger things to worry about wacko.gif

Something similar happened to me, my mom's first name was spelled wrong... it didn't seem to bother anybody when I had my interview. I told them anyway and they just changed it on the form. I think it didn't make any difference. Don't worry.

thanks for that smile.gif

Hi, I just noticed on the Biographic Information form that my mothers maiden name is spelled wrong there is an A instead of O. Will this cause me problems when I go for interview in Dublin?

Hi there! I am new to VJ and I can sympathize with what you are going through. We are filing for K-1 in May when my fiance returns for another visit. He has only beeen gone 3 1/2 weeks and it feels like 6 months! He is coming back on May 22...33 days from now. It feels like an eternity. I want to get this process started, but he needs to get his new I-94 number when he re-enters the US from England and bring all the stuff we need to copy to submit the paperwork. I am going to the UK in August and hopefully by next spring we can be married. You guys here on VJ are great for information and support! And yes Skype is fantastic! it is not the same as being there in person, but it will have to do until we can be together forever. Plus we can print a call log off to prove an ongoing relationship. Yahoo Messenger doesn't do that and we kept getting booted from there anyway. We met in Yahoo chat so we still have a soft spot for Yahoo, but Skype is so much better. If we all band together and be strong we can all get through this. Thanks to everyone for all the great help and support! Hang in there everyone!

Bella

Hi, you dont need the I-94 number for the k1 visa

A lawyer will always be attentive to you during your initial conversations until the point where you send the money. Then they are difficult to reach and generally unavailable to help you. Follow the K1 guide and ask questions here.

No issues with my attorney in this regard. Just depends on who you get as an attorney and what research you did beforehand. Your dr, mechanic, accountant any srevice provider could be this way. Isn't just an immigration attorney. I've been able to call and email at any time. Have gotten responses to emails I sent at the end of a work day, thinking I would get a response the next day but sure enough within an hour or so I have a detailed response to my questions. Never had to hunt him down to get answers I needed. Not to mention it is nice to have a professional handling the case. Not all cases are the same so a blanket statement that everyone should get advice here and they are good to go is not the best route. Look at your situation, and then determine if you need one.

So very true!

My attorney has been great! It depends on how important this issue is to you if you want an attorney and you make sure that you hire a good one!

QUOTE (V-G-1 @ Jun 24 2009, 12:32 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Dont hire an attorney for this. Everything is on the guides...and the original I129F is a 2 page form.
Attorneys will take all your information and fill it into the 2 page form....while you could do it yourself, a lot more accurately, I might add.

Lawyers love straight forward 129Fs because they are easy. But they charge the same legal fees they would charge for real lawyer work (ie Legal Research, Legal Writing, Going to Court and Arguing, Going before a Judge)....hire an attorney for those items, worthy of the hefty legal fee....but please dont give them the plesure of charging the same legal fees for filling out a 2 page form you could do yourself in an evening, and one which is if teh same complexity as a home depot job app, as Gary once so eloquently put it.

I hired an attorney but I know him so it was cheap! I left the worrying up to him and if anything is screwed up its on him to fix it not me! For something as important as this I didnt want to take the chance. star_smile.gif

Guys,
People said it's an insurance to send snail mails to one's fiancee. Does my fiancee need to send me snail mails back?

Thanks!

Nope you do not need that. I just kept my phone bills and printed out some of the emails that we sent back and forth and copies of all of our plane tickets and pictures of us everytime that we were together, I even included pictures of myself with his family and pictures of Nigel with my family! Hope this helps.

+ Always send in the LONG version of the birth certificate (USC) - not the short one. If you only happen to have the short one, include copies of ALL pages of the passport of the US citizen.

That may be excellent advice for some situations, but not "always". In our case, we went through the whole process without ever sending in the USC's birth certificate at all (we used the passport to provide proof of citizenship). Also, some places issue only one form of birth certificate, so there's not always a distinction between "long form" and "short form". Just telling folks they have to file the "long form" may be more confusing than helpful if there is no "long form" option in their place of birth. Finally, some USC's were born abroad, so they don't have the option of using the birth certificate to provide proof of citizenship.

I also sent it in without a birth certificate because the book I read (Fiance & Marriage Visas: A Couple's Guide to U.S. Immigration by Illona Bray, Nolo Press) said that the passport in and of itself is proof of citizenship. I sent a copy of every single page, plus front and back cover!. I've only received NOA1 so far, no RFEs yet asking for birth certificate.

Arrgh I got an email over a week ago about and RFE and still have not gotten the letter in the mail! Its so frustrating, I just want to know what I need to do!
