Still waiting for the NOA2 since March 2. No touches. Ive called USCIS and they said the same thing that the website says, that my application is being processed. So in a few days it will be five months of waiting between NOA1 and 2. Do I have cause for complaining too my senator at that point?

I'd complain after five for sure!

Hey are you from KY? My hubby is from there too smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow did you meet?
There is no WAY I would lie about this, people are introduced to their future wives and husbands by friends or family all the time! It's no big deal.

The big deal would be if you lied on this and they caught you out.

There is no reason for anyone here to feel they have to lie, unless of course they're guilty!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDid anyone else hand write their forms? (specifically I-130)
i would just like to point out, my application was extremely organised.. and just because i hand wrote it, it doesnt mean it wouldnt be organised. it was just easier for me to do as i was borrowing a work computer to print the whole lot of forms out, so didnt have time to sit there and fill them out online.

i spent a lot of time putting my application together and making sure everything was specifically ordered and correct before i sent it off, and i know that most people did the same thing.. but yeah... i am sure that everyone means well...

thanks for answering the question to those who did.

donna.

I hand wrote on all forms for the I-130 process, my hand writing was neat, but is this ok and did anyone else do it?

Our lawyer told us, before the medical exam, if you are caught with drugs in your system, it is a 3 year ban before you can come and interview again. Also during those three years you must be tested for drugs on a regular basis. Our lawyer said to make sure you did not use any drugs and NEVER admit to using drugs in your lifetime! If you even admitted you smoked 1 marijuana cigarette 15 years ago, you have lost your chance! When my husband went for his exam in Mexico last week he said he never useed drugs but did drink occassionally. He was then sent to the psychologist. If you admit to drugs, alcohal, have tatoos or body piercings,,,you are sent to the psychologist) She tried everyhting to get him to admit he has TRIED some type of drug at some point in his life (he stood his ground and said no ) And tried to get him to admit he drank more than just the occassional beer....but he didn't. They are very STRICT about these rules! It was a very deep interogation!

I am so sorry you did not know this and that no one ever told you!

Good luck sad.gif

im sorry, but i dont see how tattoos could affect it or you could be sent to a psych. so many people have tattoos nowadays and its not illegal.

anyway, i agree on the drugs stuff but come on.. thats insane!

i guess maybe its in countries other than australia they discriminate due to tattoos?

weird indeed...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 please help
what did you mean by you didnt send documents with the i130?

do you mean you sent no proof of relationship or no documents at all which they asked for as you sent them with i129f instead?

i sent a complete i130 package WITH documents required, but then accidentally put an i129f at the back of it (not realising i didnt even need it for my chosen CR1 route) and i still got noa1 back, but am awaiting noa2.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWould you include a letter explaining this?
umm hi, i just wanted to say, in regards to the "personal emails" i am pretty sure none of us want our personal and sometimes really lovey dovey/raunchy/sad/happy/depressing/revealing emails read by the immigration people, but the fact of the matter is, if it is going to help show you are a loving and committed couple who want to be together, i would just suck it up and show them.

i have so many emails like you and all of us probably do which i would rather others didn't read, but honestly, i would rather show them than be denied a visa for not enough proof of relationship.

up to you, but those are my thoughts on it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFBI background checks on the PETITIONER???
QUOTE (lgg @ Aug 22 2009, 10:04 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey dearie...

I don't think I'd worry to much about his DUI, really... I think his main concern is the Affidavit of Support process, you know? If YOU had the dui and such, it could pose a problem but honestly? I think it's fine that it's him, the USC and not you....

Hope it's going well and that the waiting isn't gettin' you down. If it makes you feel any better at all, I'm waiting for Montreal to schedule us an interview and I am back to the feelings I had waiting for the I 130 approval, like it's a black hole of not knowing.

Montreal is a really slow consulate despite the fact that most of the spousal visa petitions going through it are easy -- we're not a high-fraud country. Montreal is, and this may be the problem, the only consulate in the country that processes this kind of visa.

So, just trying to ensure that you don't feel alone in the waiting process...
Talk to you later...

thanks to everyone else who replied here and made it more clear for me. i really appreciate it. i have a habit of stressing about things before they happen.. but i know i will be honest and open with the immigration folks and i will hopefully not come into any issues from not being open.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFBI background checks on the PETITIONER???
p.s. i just found this post http://www.visajourn...howtopic=210613 and i was wondering, is a DUI something that is picked up in this kind of check? would it cause delays? i guess you guys might not have the answers for me.. but i didn't even know there were FBI checks done on the petitioners.... but i guess it makes sense if you are married to a serial killer or something (hehe) not that they would be roaming around free mind you tongue.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFBI background checks on the PETITIONER???
Can someone please make this more clear for me...

I am lodging a CR-1 application, I am the beneficiary and I am not from the USA of course.

Is there to be an FBI check on my USC husband even though he is the petitioner and I am the beneficiary??

I thought, and was under the impression, that they just wanted MY police check (from Australia) and not a check on him too??!?!

I read a couple of posts elsewhere on here mentioning that the FBI checks were "Holding up the USCIS process" or something like that....

Does this happen, and if so, will it affect the NOA2 coming if my hubby has had a DUI in the past? I know it seems silly to ask, but I thought the police checks were done from my end, because I am the one moving there...

Confused!!! smile.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureschange of name on my passport
hi all,

i was super organised and changed my passport to my married name. it arrived this week.

i am a june filer, and i-130 NOA1 has come back to me, but i am still waiting on NOA2.

do i need to contact USCIS to give them my new passport number and a copy of it?

will i have any issues considering the first lot of forms for the i-130 were filled out with my old passport details (i still have the actual passport at home and its in my maiden name, but wanted to update to my married name of course)

i am wondering also, when NVC and embassy time comes, should i include copies of the original passport in my maiden name AND the new current passport in my married name, just so they know what is going on?

i am sure they will figure it out and it happens often, but just want to make sure i do the right thing!

xox

But where in the CR1 process does the USC have to get an FBI check?

All the checks are done on the beneficiary??!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFBI name check clearance for CR-1?
But isn't the FBI just a US thing?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the beneficiary will be from outside the US so will be getting a police check relevant to their country (eg mine is a National Police Records check from Australia and fingerprints)

The FBI check relates to USCs doesnt it?

What vaccines/boosters are required for immigrants and those applying for adjustment of status in the United States?
As part of the medical examination for immigration, all immigrants are required to have an assessment for the following vaccine-preventable diseases: mumps, measles, rubella, polio, tetanus and diphtheria toxoids, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type B, meningitis and invasive disease, hepatitis B, varicella, and pneumococcal pneumonia. Persons already in the United States applying for adjustment of status for permanent residency, including refugees, are also required to be assessed for these vaccine-preventable diseases.
Each set of Technical Instructions for medical examination of aliens has an addendum regarding the vaccination requirements for immigrants.

HPV is required for women between 11 to 26 I believe.

My wife is 27; does that means she does not need to get it now? I was unsure reading the CDC stuff if the age brackets were "Should have got it here, outside this age does not need it", or "Should have got it here, but if you don't have it, get it now".

silly question maybe, but if all the income of the father and mother is in either his name or both names (ie stocks and bank balances) then would it be ok to put the individual income as the same as the gross for that year?

because i am in this situation where US hubbys father is on every document as the income earner, but two of the forms have him and his wife.. do i split the asset in half, or just make it all his income.. koz technically it is?!?!
