United KingdomTaking wedding dress over
Hi, Is anyone else planning on taking their wedding dress to the US or buying it there?

I already have mine (well almost - final fitting in a couple of weeks) I am flying with Delta and have contacted them and they said if there is space in their coat cupboard they can put it in there but if not it can be checked. The bridal shop are going to pack it into a box for me and have said that I will be amazed about how small they can pack it. I would really like to have it as hand luggage but I'm gonna have to wait and see how small the box is and if it will fit in a small suitcase with wheels that I can carry on.

Has anyone have any experience of this or know anyone else who has married abroad?

Thanks
Lindsey

United KingdomHow Did You Meet Your USC/UKC?
There are some lovely stories on here. (L)
I was visiting friends in Myrtle Beach as I had worked there for the summer after university and I went out on Valentines Day for a drink with a girl I had met (we were both single and Valentines is the worst time). She invited her cousin who is now my fiance. Five years and 5 months later, we are getting married on 15th September.

United KingdomUnited Kingdom Interview Thread 2007
Hi, my interview is on 10th July at 10:30am but I still haven't received my packet 4. I phoned the state dept in US to find it out. I phoned embassy tonight and they said it must have been lost in the post!! What are the chances of that! Anyway, I had to e-mail someone and the e-mail keeps coming back saying it has been deleted without being read. Why does everything have to be some complicated.

United KingdomUK to South Carolina
Hi, I live in Myrtle Beach. I'm finding it really strange here - it was ok to visit but to live I'm not sure about it. There are no real jobs except wait staff and hotel staff and the last time I was a waitress I was 16. Also, Charleston office is really slow. We sent the adjustment of status paperwork in November and we are still waiting. I have been for biometrics but not for the interview yet.

What is wrong with this form, it's driving me mad!! You can't even write an address in the spaces without running out of room. The whole thing is gonna be on a separate piece of paper.
Did anyone else have this problem or I am missing something?? :(

ChinaTimetable for p3 to p4, scheduling interview

So my fiance mailed her P3  to Guangzhou about 3.5 weeks ago from Beijing and they said they haven't received it yet. Is that wait time normal? She mailed as requested from a CITIC bank in Beijing, although the folks at CITIC seemed unfamiliar with the process.  Just wanted to get a sense if anyone had any info on the P3-P4 timeline.

Thanks!

My fiancé mailed her P3 standard shipping. They received it in three days. Since then they emailed instructions for P4. She went online completed all the paperwork and scheduled her interview (April 30). We never had instructions on how to send P3. Good luck if you're still waiting.

ChinaK1 Guangzhou journey most recent (visa approved)

Seems nobody checks this part of the forum anymore but another update, my fiancé got her passports yesterday, so interviewed on 4/10/14, received passports on 4/19/14.

That's great news! My fiancé has her interview Wednesday. I hope it goes smoothly for her and her daughter. I think it will. Their English is above average (especially the daughter). Was the questions pretty simple? Any advice would be appreciated...thanks.

How long in advance did you get to know about your appointment date and time? I have seen differing time frames and you guys in here will know best for the London Consulate. i have had my medical and am excitedly awaiting the interview.  We have one suggestion that the Interview is 4 weeks from receiving our packet 3 back at the consulate. That would be a wait of 2 more weeks if true.  My baby is just as excited but we just want a guide to help us through the wait times ... Thank you Janie x

Hey, I had my medical 3 weeks ago still waiting anything, I'm literally just waiting for my appointment and then I can go, I have no idea how long I am going to have to wait I hope it is soon, are you a UK resident going I the USA?

Hey guys I am new to this!
Let me tell you a little about the situation I'm in, I am English and my fiancé is American I plan to move out there and marry him, we have been applying for our k-1 visa since last Nov, it seems to be taking forever, one thing after another seems to be getting in the way. We met 4 years ago at camp America, I have visited every year since on a travel visa whilst working the summer camps and we have had lots of other visits in the mean time back and forth to the states and England. My visa got approved in June and I hady medical 3 weeks ago, I have a history of depression (over 4 years ago) so had to get my doctor to send notes over and it's finally been sent to the embassy, my notes have a history of one overdose when I was 18 years old, do you think this could get in the way? Also does anyone have any idea of how long it takes for the interview to be scheduled once the medical information is at the embassy? I just want to be with my man! I hope someone can help, also with regards to driving once out there does anyone know how this would work I am moving to Connecticut and have a full British license?
Thanks

CaribbeanNext steps after receiving letter from NVC

Good Morning,

I am new to this site and had a couple of questions I was hoping to get help with. My fiance is from Haiti and so far our process seems to be going well, Praise the Lord.

We sent our packet in, received our first notice saying it was received, then our second notice stating that it was approved and last week I received a notice from the National Visa Center stating that our packet had been forwarded on to the consulate in Port-au-Prince. My fiance went online and completed his DS-160 and submitted it. We then went online and scheduled him an appointment.

Question #1: His interview is scheduled for April 2nd, but our notice of approval expires on Feb 25th, is that going to be a problem?

Question #2: I have already paid the $340 fee for the fiance visa application, is there another fee that is supposed to be paid before his appointment? When I went online to schedule his appointment it asked for a receipt # and I wasn't sure what they were asking for so I just put the barcode # from the confirmation page, but I was reading somewhere after I submitted the appointment that it is supposed to be an actual receipt # that they get from the bank after submitting payment. How do I correct this? Where do I find the receipt #? and is there an additional fee we have to pay at the bank before his interview? Will this hold up our interview process?

Question #3: When should he be receiving his packet from the embassy?

Caribbeanpreparation for interview

Hello,

My fiance's interview for his k-1 visa is scheduled for Monday March 10th at 7am. I am flying to Haiti on the 9th so I can attend the interview with him. Can you all please give me advice on what paperwork we should bring with us or share any tips that you may have?

Our case is pretty cut and dry. We don't have children, neither of us have ever been married before and neither of us have a criminal record. I make enough money so that shouldn't be an issue. Do you have to be able to show that you have a certain amount of money in your bank accounts?

He had his medical exam, they didn't given him vaccinations even though he requested them because they said those were not needed until we file his AOS.

I have phone bills

calling cards

bank statements for the past 3 months

letters from my bank

a letter from my employer

proof of my life insurance policy and 403b

We already provided them with my 2012 taxes and I'm bringing my 2013 taxes with me

his police report

Do we need anything else. I would rather be over prepared than not prepared, but any advice you could give us would help.

CaribbeanHaiti Packet 4
SO...neither my fiance or I have received packet #3 yet and it has been 6 weeks. I've e-mailed the consulate and haven't gotten a response. I called them today and requested that they e-mail it to me, however, they said they are unable to do that so they scheduled him an appointment to go and pick up on January 24th and apparently he can't pick it up before then. Any suggestions? Advice? Please help!!!

I have a question for you guys as my fiance is also from Haiti. We are awaiting packet #3. He completed the DS-160 online and we signed up for an interview online. We were supposed to do that or were we supposed to wait for an interview to be assigned to us from the embassy?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-160 confusion..

I have a few questions. My fiance submitted the DS-160 online on December 9th. I went on and scheduled an interview for him today and the next available interview slot they have his April 2nd but our NOA expires on February 25th, is that going to be a problem? Thank you, I will do that! To date, we have still not received packet #3. I called the consulate and all the man said to me is that it would be here "very very soon" and that was two weeks ago. I called the DOS and they said it was sent on December 9th. Do they send the packet to both my fiance and I? I'm nervous because his address is not recognizable by the mail system but I've been looking all over the place to figure out how we change his address so that he can receive his packet at his auntie's house, any thoughts? I will e-mail the embassy and request packet #3.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionscheduling appts, fees, etc. PLEASE HELP!!! (Haiti)

Hello,

I'm new here. We received our letter from the NVC on November 27th that said that they had forwarded our request on to the consulate in Haiti. On the form it said to have my fiance go online and complete the DS-160 which he did on Monday December 9th. When we received the confirmation e-mail it had suggested that we go online to schedule a visa appointment, which we did and it is scheduled for April 2nd. It asked for a receipt # when scheduling the appointment and I put the wrong number. After submitting it I was reading that the receipt # that they are looking for is the # on the receipt from the bank where you paid the processing fee. We have not paid any fee except for the original $340 fee that was sent in with our I-129F. Are we required to pay additional fees before we schedule our appointment? If so, how much do we need to pay? If not, where do I get the receipt #? is it the same receipt # that is on all of our notices? How do we change the receipt # on the appt we have scheduled? Will we have to cancel the appointment and re-schedule it with the correct receipt #? Someone please help!!!!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionpolice record & vaccinations

Thank you all for your replies. Turns out that my fiance saw the doctor yesterday and requested vaccinations but the doctor refused to give them to him stating that he received a letter from the embassy saying that they are no longer needed and that he can get them in the U.S. I would've loved to save money and just had them done there but it wasn't an option.

I'm thankful that you all were able to verify that they are not needed because I was extremely nervous about them giving him mis-information and scared that it would effect whether or not we would be approved.

We will be sending packet #3 back on Friday with all of our information. Does anyone know whether or not you can purchase boxes at Haiti messenger to send the paperwork in? We have a lot of paperwork we are sending and it's not going to fit in a large envelope and my fiance is nervous about what he is going to use to send it in. I have no clue because I'm used to the United States Post Office and things are much different here.

Hoping that our interview will be done sooner rather than later because our wedding date is set for May 17th though we will move the date if we don't have the visa by the middle of April.

mtcmk1: did you send all of the paperwork on the coversheet you sent me in packet 3?

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionpolice record & vaccinations

Our packet 3 did not say anything about a police record, the only things listed in the packet that we had to return were his medical exam and the bank fee, there was no additional list of items needing to be returned. He does not have a criminal record of any kind.

Thanks for the heads up about the vaccinations. The nurse said that he could talk to the doctor on Tuesday when he goes back to get his results and if the doctor agrees to vaccinate him, he will. Otherwise, I told my fiance that I want something in writing from the doctor stating that he does not need vaccinations (I guess that is my type A personality coming out)! I also told my fiance that if the doctor was not going to give him his vaccinations to go to one of the other embassy doctors. I can't remember the name of the doctor he is seeing, but I do recall that it is in Petion Ville. Corey, I will send him to the doctor you guys used if this one doesn't work out.

My fiance is nervous to return packet 3 without the police record for fear that it will hold the process up, but I would rather return the packet sooner than later.

Thank you everyone, you are all so helpful! :)

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionpolice record & vaccinations

Hello,

Does the police record need to be returned with packet #3 or can it be brought to the interview? My fiance requested his police record but was told that it would take 10 days and we will have the medical results back on Tuesday so we would love to submit the packet back without the police record if possible so we don't have to wait an additional week.

One other question, when my fiance went to his medical appointment they told him that he does not need any vaccinations for the k-1 visa and that he could get them all in the U.S. once he applies for an adjustment of status, is that right? He doesn't have his immunization record so I was surprised to hear that.

Any advice you could give would be helpful. Thank you!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical exam copies

I am happy to see posts from others applying for a K-1 for fiance's in Haiti.

First of all, I have no idea about getting copies of the medical exam, however, the doctor that my fiance saw would not vaccinate him stating that he received notification from the embassy stating that vaccinations are no longer required for k-1 visas (as you probably can imagine this is making me very anxious because everywhere I have read has said that vaccinations are required and I don't want them to deny him because of this), I tried to call CIVA to clarify but they couldn't answer my question.

As far as packet #4 goes, my fiance was given a date 15 days after he dropped off packet #3 to pick-up packet #4 at Haiti Messenger so they don't actually mail it, your fiance will pick it up.

Our interview is coming up, it's on March 10th, please keep us in your prayers! Good luck to my fellow Haiti vjers!

United KingdomPolice Certificate - Caution

I think I am going to check with Allie & Nigel (apologize if I messed that up). Sounds very familiar to the other couple Karenista.... Fiance was watching a footie game at a pub, altercation, police were brought in. Asked him if he was taken "downtown" and he said no not for something like this. Just written up and told to leave. <img src="http://www.visajourn...IR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hello hello, im in a similar boat here. Got a police caution on my records for abusive threatening language on a night out. It won't stop us from getting in the US as its not a "crime of moral turpitude" but it sure would be nice to go about it the right way not have anything slowing us down.

Still not exactly sure what to do though. Let me know if you hear anything!

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Please tell me this isn't the dreaded AP!?!
Hello Every1

I had my interview back in November and was told there I was missing The Affidavit of Support, Form I-864 (even though on the embassy website it says this is not needed for a k1 visa). As I result I placed under AP until this could be provided, but once ready I should send it to the embassy together with my passport n I will get my visa within 10 days. I sent them both the following week and then got this email from the embassy:

Your application remains subject to additional administrative processing, which is mandatory and cannot be waived or expedited. As processing varies in each individual case, there is no set period of time that it takes. We recognize that applicants may experience inconvenience if their application takes longer to process than they expected. However, it is difficult to offer any time frame for visa processing in such cases.

Please be assured that you will be notified as soon as additional processing in your case is complete.

I have no been under AP for over three months n still not heard anything. Unfortunately I was stupid enough to quit my job when I was told it will only be a few more days.

BTW if you have been under AP for more than three months the embassy still sends u the same automated response

I know you guys wont be able to help me much as all i can do now is wait but i jus needed to vent to people who might be sympathetic to my cause.

Thank you

United KingdomAdditional Processing

I am curious as to what things you have going against you? I understand if you don't want to share but if you do, it would be helpful. My fiance has a minor criminal record (no crimes of moral turpitude) and we would like to hear from anyone else who does. What sort of security checks are you referencing?

there are a few things which are all slowing it down
i)i have a common Muslim name
ii) my mum was born in a T country (but she has been a uk citizen for over 50 yrs now)
iii) 9 yrs ago (as a 14 yr old) i went on holiday to the middle east
iv)i have a physics degree and mentioned in my interview i would love a job in research

I was born in the uk n have no criminal record so it must b one of them that is delaying it.

I have visited america several times now n there was never a problem so these must just b taken into account when ur trying to get over there permanently.

Hope you find this helpful

United KingdomAdditional Processing

Hi! Sorry if this has been answered already, but in my preliminary search I didn't find a specific answer. I've heard of people being approved in London, but then having their visa go through "additional processing". It seems that this mostly happens to non-UK citizens living in the UK, but I was wondering if this could happen to a full UK citizen who was born there. I am concerned because it is likely my fiance will be interviewing shortly enough before the wedding that additional processing would mean he would miss the wedding. (No comments about making wedding plans before having a visa necessary, I know, I know, I'm foolish, but a huge Italian wedding just does not get planned in 3 months.)
Thanks!

Im sorry to scare you but im a british born citizen who has now been in AP for over 4 months. We had our big day planned too but as we have now missed that were jus gonna fly over to vegas and get the legal ceremony done there.

Im sure u wont have to go through it though, i have several things going against me which means my security checks will take longer.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionk-1 administrative processing times at London embassy

To avoid a panic amongst K1-ers. You do NOT need to do an I-864. You need I-134.

To imy1986- Call DOS and see if they can tell you if your additional documentation was received. Or have you gotten that kind of confirmation from the Embassy. I'm just wondering if they even got it.

And I'm curious to know if you were born in the UK and have spent your whole life there?

Iv spoken to both the embassy and DOS. It has been received but I still require additional AP and thats all they will tell me..

I am a British born citizen but i do have one of those common Muslim names. On top of that my mum is from a T country, I have visited one (although it was more than 9 yrs ago), and i have a degree in physics which I have been told doesn't look too good.

Since then I have remained in Administrative Processing and was just wondering how long other people have had to wait.

btw for others in this situation once u have been in Administrative Processing for 90 days you get the same email response from the embassy telling you there is nothing you can do but wait till they are finished.

Australia and New ZealandConfused About Interview Paperwork.

Hello all,

My fiance and I are on the final leg of our visa application, almost. But I am confused about the forms I need to fill out, and when to send what.

Firstly,

1) Do I send form DS-230I BEFORE I send the rest of my package?

2) Do I schedule my medical before I know the date of my interview, or afterwards?

3) Where does for DS-160 come into play?

Please help, I'm so confused!

Australia and New ZealandK1 Interview Payment - Australia.

Hello,

Today I finally received my Packet 4 Instructions (YAY!!) and was given an interview date set in Sydney, Australia. They ask for payment "K1, K2, K3 & K4 Applicants

K visa applicants pay an application fee like any other nonimmigrant visa applicant. The current application fee for the K visa is USD $240.00. (The AUD equivalent is $264.00).

This fee is currently only payable in person at Australia Post via cash or EFTPOS. Please refer to http://www.ustraveld...fo.asp#inperson for further information on payment options. Bring the receipt for this payment to your interview." but when I follow that link, it tells me to log into the website and then to set an interview date AFTER I've paid. But I already have my interview date? How do I pay the fee?

Thank you.

Hello all,

My partner and I received our NOA2 a little while back with a validity date ending on Feb 26. Can we extend this? My second question is, if this cannot be extended, what happens if my interview is scheduled outside this date? And can I do my medical after my K1 interview?

Thankyou.
