K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForm ds-230 few questions

Hi everyone,

I have few questions about form ds-230

Question #32
"List below all employment for the last ten years"
Not sure if i should write about employment during the i-129f process, cause on form g-325a sent to USCIS i was unemployed, so i put there unemployed, but during the process i found part time job, but i didnt update that information, so should i write it on form ds-230 for the embassy interview, or just write same as on the form g-325a
About being an aupair - is that considered as job, i wrote that in form ds-230

List your current employment in DS-230
And one more question regarding number 32
"In what occupation do you intend to work in the united states"
What should i write there, or i should leave it blank

TBD
Question #33
"List below all educational institutions attended"
about high school - in degree or diploma should i write high school diploma or something else
about courses taken in american college while i was in the US - should i include them too

Sure, list all
Question #35
Dates of previous visits to the united states,
In location space should i write exact address, including street, house number, city, state and zip code, or just city and state will be enough

If you can fit it into the form, give whole address; if not, just city and state

Question #43a
"Have ou ever applied for a SS#"
When i was in tue US i applied for SS# so i could open bank account,
Is this SS # still valid or i have to apply for new one

SSN is valid for life

Question #43b
I checked box NO, is that correct

No is correct. You're K1, you will have to do any changes (like name change)  yourself at SSA office.

Hey,

Thnks for your help,
What means that TBD?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFeb2013 filer

This is so frustrating, it has been 10 mos. & 3days of waiting. I have requested to expedite 2 wks ago, they emailed me back saying that my case is undergoing security screening and I just have to wait. Haven't we all waited long enough for that?  I have contacted the ombudsman also, but I have not heard from them either. How long does that security screening being process?  I am a good law abiding, tax payer US citizen and my husband, I would say is of good moral character otherwise I would have not married him, known him for over 30+ years.

Anyone here who can relate to me or undergoing "security screening after waiting for 10mos?"

I just read your timeline. You're filed IR-1/CR-1 Spouse Visa. It's different from our case (Fiance(e)/K-1) but your turn is coming. Just wait patiently. :)

Hello there,

I'm feel sad for you two when I read this post especially in your country. It's much quicker compare to my country (Vietnam). Please wait patiently. Each case has different situations. I'm FEB 2013 Filer too and my fiance just has his interview last week and still waiting for his visa. Your turn is coming and it's will be worthwhile.

Good luck and Happy New Year !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsChange address online for petitioner.

HaoPhong,

First, You can call DOS at 202-663-1225 and ask for your current petition status. They'll tell you.

Secondly, you can email US Embassy in Vietnam by use this link  http://hochiminh.usc...vinquiries.html. US Embassy in Vietnam will not answer any questions by phone so the best way is email.

VA-FEB 13 FILERNot TellingVietnam2013-08-14 14:31:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsChange address online for petitioner.

I called USCIS and they told me that I dont need to update my address with USCIS after approval ( Im USC). They told me to contact NVC or DOS to change the new address but I still do not have a case number that assigned by NVC. I need to wait for 30 days that is what USCIS told me.

HaoPHong,

If your case is transferred from VSC to TSC your waiting time around 3 weeks before it ship to DOS/NVC and after you received notice that your case shipped to DOS/NVC you can call DOS at 202-663-1225 press 1 then press 0 on the 8th day (wait about 8 days) to obtain your case number and  after your case assigned DOS/NVC will send e-file first to US Embassy in Vietnam. Then DOS/NVC will ship physical file 2-3 days later. US Embassy in Vietnam will receive your case in 3-4 days later after your file shipped out.

FYI: you can alway check your case status at https://ceac.state.g...ker/Status.aspx   (Visa Application Type: Immigrant Visa (IV), Immigrant Visa Case Number : HCM2013xxxxxx).

For your new address: such as for I-134 you can starting use your new address and please make sure you send a copy of Post Office address change confirmation page to your beneficiary just in case they ask when your coming interview. Also like Dave&Roza answerred/comment. You'll fine. Don't worry too much.

Good Luck !

I have visited my fiance' once only, in Vietnam.  I foolishly thought the whole process would take only 3 months.  Of course, over a year later we finally have her interview scheduled.  It will occur on January 17th.  I heard that if you do not visit more than once then the Consular might feel this is not a true love relationship.  Does anyone know if there is merit to this?  And if so, how do you recommend we proceed?  I told my sweetheart just to be honest.  Which is this:  I thought it was going to take only 3 months; I wanted to visit again, but we both thought that with our luck I'd be there and she'd get her interview letter, then I'd have to return again after she got her visa.  I'm not rich and travel is expensive, so we opted for me not to visit.  Another time, when I missed her so much, I told her I wanted to visit her again.  She said come on over, but then I realized I needed to save money for our wedding.  I have just enough for that and another visit to see her and bring her back with me after she gets the visa.  I miss her terribly and hope that my lack of visits won't affect our chances.  Please let me know what you know on this topic.  Thanks!!!

Hello there,

Please do not worried too much from what you heard. Whatever you heard just make you more and more worried and it's not like that at all. Please do not listen to lawyers/immigration agencies. They just want your money. Follow the instructions from forms/packages and you will be fine.

Each case/situation is different. If your love is truly you don't need to worried.

I visited my fiance only once within two years of filing. My fiance passed his interview on 12/23/2013. CO asked why I'm not visit him since I submitted our petition and we need to tell the truth. (Usually is job position and vacation time). CO will undertand the situation why you not visit your fiance more than once since you submitted your petition.

Please bring and show CO ALL your communications: Skype chat logs, Yahoo e-mails, Facebook chat logs, phone bills (show your fiance(e)'s number) and pictures (more pictures are better, we had very few pictures but we have reasons why and CO accepted).

We did not see each other for more than a year now. I understand your feeling. You need to save your money not only for your wedding also for other things when she in US. She can't work until she has EAD which about 2-3 months. A lot of things need money to get done.

Your fiance's interview pass or fail is ALL depend on how your fiance communication/react with CO and your paper work. The communication with CO is very very very important, just remember that. COs are very friendly and just talk to them like you talk to your friends. Don't need to be nervous, scared, ect.

Good Luck!

At the time, I was rushed as I took my lunch break thinking the ceremony wouldn't take long...I kept having to remind myself to live in the moment and enjoy the naturalization ceremony as I would want to remember all the details.

Anything else you want to know ask, I'm happy to help. This website has been a tremendous help to me. I wish I had found it earlier on in the process.

I have an appointment to apply for my passport tomorrow.  Since I had done the research I knew the cost, procedure, etc...so as people were asking and the immigration officer didn't know, I spoke up lol  At the end of the ceremony - when we were milling around taking pictures - he came up to me and told me that I should apply for a job with USCIS. You better believe I've been scoping out government jobs, I've already applied for a few :)

Anyone who got the passport card, did you think that it was worth it?

Thanks! Here is my review, guess I was too excited and forgot to post here for my fellow March filers.

I had my oath ceremony today (9/24/2014) at the Baltimore field office. We were directed to the same waiting room as where we had to wait for the interview. Oath ceremony was scheduled for 2pm, about 2:05pm an immigration officer walked in and directed us to the room. He went thru instructions (turn in your greencard, complete back of form, etc.) Then we all went up to turn in the paperwork. Even though the oath ceremony invitation/letter has a number written on it they didn't go by the numbers, he called us up one row at a time. I was sitting in the front row, yet I was the last one to get my certificate. We saw a video, welcome from the president. Then another officer came in to officiate the oath. We sang the national anthem and recited the pledge of allegiance. Both officers passed out certificates at the end of the ceremony. The room was a good size, it was pretty full. Guests were allowed, someone had a toddler that screamed all the way thru the ceremony, I felt sorry thinking it was a single parent, at the end when we were taking pictures I realized there were 3 adults with this toddler and only 1 of them was naturalized. Needless to say it was difficult to hear the immigration officers over the cries of the toddler. This made our ceremony longer as people kept asking questions that the immigration officer had already reviewed. After the ceremony when we were leaving, this family decided to stop to take pictures outside of the Baltimore office, the toddler is then running up and down the parking lot, a security officer had to come and tell them to get the child out of the street!

Try to get there a bit early as the line to go thru security was long as everyone arrived at the same time.
