Not quite sure what thats all about but Im just glad hes here. He has jet lag pretty bad so hes sleeping and I thought I would let everyone know hes here and Im in heaven. It really helped alot and she was such a saint about it. My sister in law is driving me down to the airport, my car needs an alternator. So she will be with me the whole time. Its a really late arrival so she will just drive us home and drop us off. My daughter is going to be with Grandma and Grandpa for a couple of days so we will have the house to our selves! Middle East and North Africa	need a good place to buy halal meat	QUOTE (ta me go hiontach @ Oct 3 2008, 08:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> we shop here in beaverton, and here in tigard. one of the men who works at the place in tigard is from the same city as my husband, and he always cuts everything just the way we want it, etc. it's a very nice little shop. sometimes we go to 2 different east african stores on glisan, in portland, too. there's one on 78th, and one on 71st. they don't have nearly the same selection as beaverton and tigard though. i could ask around for someplace in vancouver, if you'd like. that's probably closer to you if yr in longview. i don't go to the 'couv very often, so i don't know right off hand. i'm sure there must be some places though, and there's a brand new masjid in vancouver too. I would like to thank everyone for their responses. Middle East and North Africa	Just wondering....	I love this thread - I think it gives hope to anyone who has heard one too many "horror stories"! Not sure if this is a good idea or not, but does anyone want to add their "red flags" or anything like that? For instance, it seemed NO ONE thought things would last for us. The reasons? 11 year age difference (I'm older), different religions, his poor English (and my lack of French and Arabic) when we first started talking, meeting on the internet, the fact that I was in the middle of a divorce when we met online, the fact that he never really was in a relationship before and I "came with" three children, the fact that we only knew each other a very short time before I visited him, short time before we started talking about marriage, short time before we actually got married (especially since it was only a few months after my divorce was finalized)... Turns out those "problems" really didn't matter much with our relationship. We match with all the other things - like how we feel about things, and what's really important to us. We've been married almost three years now, and in that time, we've really learned how to get along. There were some adjustments, of course, but we've had a much better adjustment than I did with my first husband (he and I were only a year apart, same country, same state, same religion, both single when we met, same language, we met in person and knew each other 4 years before we got married... ) during our 15 years of marriage. So, go figure! venusfire your timeline is similar to mine. we met march of 06 and talked online, Im 12 yrs older then him divorced 2 times, 4 kids. Went over june of 07 stayed for 3 1/12 months and married him on that trip. This is the most loving and best relationship I have ever had. Ive tried being married to someone from this country and older( that didnt work) tried on here from El Salvador and a little bit younger (that didnt work) I had to leave the country and bring one home to get it right. I filed a k-3 instead of K-1, but I only went to Morocco one time and got married during that trip, it was for 3 1/2 months. We didnt have any problems, but just make sure that you are prepared for anything. Lots of pics. and letters from people that saw the two of you together during the trip ect. I have read the same things regarding the containers and it can become costly, I've seen quotes as low as $1000 and as high as $5500, with the size of the container ranging from 20 to 40 feet. Also, I've considered taking my car to Morocco but I've been told its cheaper to buy locally, as you pay an arm and a leg on taxes to get the car in the country. The downside of course is if you drive an automatic vs a manual car, it may be difficult to find a automatic car as most cars sold in Morocco are manual or stick shift. The easiest way to start banking is to open an account in Morocco when you reach and set up some type of transfer (seems to be the easiest way unfortunately). Citi has a presence in Morocco but not on the consumer banking side, they are the back office/operations side which doesn't directly involve itself with money...which is unfortunate. I forgot about this site and haven't been reading much but I'm glad I came back. Ive been gone from this site for a while too, Im glad to back. I guess it might be more feasible to sell this car and buy one from there. I plan on having my husband do the driving as I am to scared to drive in that crazy traffic. I have read where people will use a moving container, like you see on a semi truck, and in most cases they will share it to save costs. Someone else told me that if you take your car, you have to pay heavy taxes on it when it arrives. Something to think about. I thought someone said you would be taxed on the original purchase price, but I am not sure that is correct. I would like to know if you were to open an account in the US with maybe Chase, would that help you get something going in Morocco since they are there too. Best of luck in your future I put in for a price quote with a company but haven't heard anything back yet. I hope its not to much on the car, its only valued at 5,900.( its a 2001 Hyundai tibiron) but i really love the car.I thought that Citi bank was in Morocco so when I called them they said they dont have a branch there. Im hoping when my husband goes for a visit in oct. he can open an account, then we can just transfer money online from here.We still have a while to go to move but I like to plan ahead and I can dream about it. I brought my husband here 2 years ago and we both agree we would rather live in Morocco. It will take me a couple years to save to move over and I am trying to find out how to get a savings account going over there from the US. We want to live in El Jadida. I also want to send over some of my things like one of our cars and some of our furniture. Has anyone done any of this?
