K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAOS and medical
you don't need the I-693 form. I was in the same situation and thinking that I had to pay to any CS just for transcribe a worksheet, and I found that if you have the vaccination worksheet (ds-3025) you can send a copy. I know people who got the green card just sending this copy, no issues at all.
As far as I know, now Consulates don't grant the visa if you do not have complete medical tests with vaccines, previously was allowed to enter the U.S. with incomplete medical examinations, so it was necessary to go to a CS to complete the tests and get the I-693 form.

Yes it can be scanned or faxed. In fact it doesn't even need to be signed. Please see attached.

If your worried about it just send a copy of this memo in with your petition. Ya never know when a Service Center employee doesn't know whats going on.

did you submit unsigned forms?

for the OP, I've never heard that is possible submit unsigned forms. My personal advice, if you don't want to take the risk for delaying your process, send the original and signed forms.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS230I
One DS-230 is required for each applicant (benefeciary & children). You must completely fill out all forms. If a question does not apply to you, write ‘Not applicable’. Do not leave questions blank.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Question 18
In our case, my fiance wrote about a paragraph of how we met ( the numerous times we flew to see one another, places, dates) USCIS just wants a short explanation, pretty much they just want to know that you have met in the past 2 years. Good Luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInterviews
This subject is always controversial, but I have seen several visas approved where only the beneficiary attends the interview. I attended alone the interview and I got approval. Also I've seen that when the petitioner go with the beneficiary they have more issues or delays in the approval.
in the last two weeks at least 3 people got approval and went alone to the interview (Colombian Embassy)
The most important thing, if you go with your fiancee or not, is to have all documents requested by the embassy

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPHONE RECORDS ??!!?!?!?!
we did not attach phone records with the petition. You have to start to gather "documents proof of having met your fiance(e) within two years" consider information that "factually" places where you two have been together: items such as dated photographs, airlines tickets/stubs (proving you boarded) to his/her country (home city), etc.. You should also consider submitting information that validates your relationship which will help to understand the scope of your relationship and acts as secondary evidence (photos together, chats, dated emails -edit out personal items first-)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUse of Photos for I-129F Petition Package
You can print the pictures as you like, however the photos are secondary evidence (they can be edited) and they are more useful in the interview stage. Focus on getting primary evidence: boarding passes, passport stamps, phone records, etc.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 or Marriage First?

K-1 you can start now
CR-1 you would have to wait until you get married to file.

So depending on when you plan to visit again and get married would be delays in the CR-1.

Neither is fast - looking at 6 months minimum from the start of processing (in most cases), could be less, more often than not it is more.
I would not consider either "easy" but neither is necessarily more difficult than the other either.

agreed!

you can read a comparison between K1 & CR1 visa as well as a few Pro's and Con's for each option here

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNew here, getting ready to begin the process.. ..(?)
if you case does not have criminal records, deportations problems, etc you do not need a lawyer, don't waste your time and money, in general the process with the consulate in Bogota is not difficult.
Explore this site, please read the guidelines, here also you'll find the forms and examples, VJ is a great resource that makes it easy to start the visa process.
If you have a question no matter what you will always find an answer on this board!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNew here, getting ready to begin the process.. ..(?)
Q1: IMO, both paths take about the same time, the big difference is that the CR1 visa is cheaper than the fiance visa (K1) and can skip the AOS step when she arrives to USA. But if you get married in Colombia you can´t apply for K1 visa, you have to apply for spouse visa (CR1) and then get a second wedding in the US.

Q2: You can use Fedex, Deprisa, or Coordinadora International, is certified mail and provide good service

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence of relationship
Phone bills, pictures, e-mails, letters, copy of skype pages. You can send examples from each month to show ongoing relationship over time. It is not needed now but can be VERY helpfull to have it in your file when it goes to the consulate. USCIS is primarily concerned that you both are free to marry and have met in person (within the past 2 years).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUH-OH! - Should we be worried about this?

I just got thru to the Embassy. It seems we are back on track now.

WOW! I can't believe I was told by the embassy previouly, the NVC, and the DOS that I didn't need to do anything to get an appt. If I had taken action back in August, she would likely be here already. Well, at least the nice people here know what they are talking about and are helpful. Sincere thanks to everyone.

Steve

Well, thanks to VJ we know about the process, and we don´t need to wait for an answer for the embassy, because this take sooooo long, they send you the packet 3 and packet 4 by mail, and sometimes people never get the instructions.

your fiancee must send the ds-230 Part I and ds-2100 forms to the embassy by email, the embassy will send her an acknowledgment when they receive the forms. After that, you can wait 2 or 3 weeks to call and verify if they already have scheduled your appointment.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUH-OH! - Should we be worried about this?

Hello all. I filed a K-1 at the CSC in May to bring my Colombian GF here to get married. In early August, I received an Approval from the CSC. Since then, I have received nothing from the NVC or the Embassy in Colombia. I called the NVC around the end of August per the I-797 instructions to obtain my Visa # (starts BGT2010........). I then called the Embassy in Bogota and they tell me just to watch their website to see the appointment list to know when our appointment is. Well, they just posted the list for all of November and our # is nowhere to be seen. The problem is that our USCIS approval notice shows a window of 7/30/2010 to 11/29/2010. If our approval expires on 11/29/2010, before the interview, what does this mean to us?

FYI
USCIS - doesn't know(at least they answer the phone)
NVC - doesn't answer phone or return emails
Embassy - is available 3:30-4 pm Wednesdays only and usually says to just check the website.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Not knowing is the hardest part.
Thanks.

Steve

just to clarify, when did you/your fiancee send the packet 3? you don´t mention it, and the embassy needs this pckt to set the appointments

Sorry--kind of a depressing story, but that's the reality of the situation right now. Thanks for reading! I still haven't gotten a clear majority answer as to whether I need to contact the embassy or if I can just let the visa die on its own. In any case, I would like to be in good standing with uscis.

you have the answers in the first pages, you need to contact to the embassy ASAP, she is now on her own, she got a visa and if she wants to travel to the US she can do it without your monetary help
