And there are the people who buy a $47K hybrid car because they want to feel like they are making a "green" difference and saving fuel too even though they could of spent $20K on a car and never spent the other $27K on gasoline .... But this is America my friends and if we want to march on the streets, carry a sign, start a cause, wave a flag or write our leaders letters to try and make a difference -- we get to do that!!

Hopefully in here we get to do that without criticism as we are all in the same boat.

I must admit ... the comment of "breaking out in tears" WAS a bit much for even me to handle.

Unrelated to the letter blitz yesterday BUT -- Many petitioners paperwork who filed with Philippines beneficiaries are starting to get moved to service centers for processing (mine included). There were about six updates just last night and we are all June NOA1 -- good news for those of us with Filipinas waiting for us. We are not quite sure it is because there has been an expedite due to Typhoon Yolanda ... but I will take it.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsExpedited Processing for the Philippines

Hi. We just received a mail that our request for expedite is under review. Did you guys get that too?

There are several people that have reported that when they put in a request for expedite it went to another pile and are waiting for review. Me thinks this has slowed down the process for these filers - especially those in the Philippines that felt their case warranted expedite because of Typhoon Yolanda - this may have clogged the workload for those who are really in dire need of a review. If your fiancee lives in anyplace other than the hardest hit areas such as Davao and Leyte - shame shame.

I can't believe the blast of negative comments coming from people with beneficiaries from other countries. I guess it's warranted in some cases for people sitting there 9-12 months waiting for their NOA2. We were certainly not affected by Yolanda but I guess I will take the blessing while I can. There is another friend of mine here that filed a month before me from just a few miles away and he hasn't heard a thing yet.I am praying for his petition to get some type of answer. Since I have the same experience as tthose of you from the Philippines - I am excited to hear that you too are getting speedy approvals.

I've noticed people have been so uptight recently on this forum. It's really disheartening. Makes me want to close my account.

Certainly more individual bashing and going way off topic than a couple years ago -- I agree

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsExpedite request?

I dont want an expedite, my family needs one, which is the only reason I contacted my senator to see if she was able to help to get it expedited which she said she would. I don't think that others out there dont want their cases to be expedited as well, its really damn frustrating when I am asking for an imput on the process, not the case itself. No reason to be on edge, it is stupid how unfriendly people can be. I'm not saying its any harder for me, than it is for anybody else, but I can not really look at that can I? I  can look after myself and my own family and I will do whatever I can to speed up the process for me and my family as we are facing some serious problems if we dont get it expedited.

Again, I asked about the process, not any input on why I think I should get expedited.

be friendly or dont respond at all, it immature and weird that people would use this forum to get their frustration out on the system. to bad I feel I have to delete thet thread because of people not knowing how to act civil.

Well said !!

Everyone is looking for that edge because we all want an "expedited" process. Funny how this process works ... I too get annoyed with people who think they need to contact a congressman after three months. None of us want to be here in this forum --- It means we are still waiting for the damn process. If our loved ones were here we wouldn't need to be in here wasting our time. Right?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDenied Visa at Interview

This is covered in the domicile bits in the I-864 instructions.

You have 2 paths for this proof:

1.  proof of USA domicile or

2.  proof of re-establishing USA domicile.

You can certainly address #2 within a month, then submit that proof into the IV unit.

BOOM - this is the correct answer.

May I have a vowel please?

Thats a little odd... My friend who got approved at VSC on Nov 10th, wrote to the embassy (Kiev as well) to see if they have her case yet, but they said that they have it uploaded in the system, but do not have the packet itself just yet.

Confused wacko.gif

They do not have it in there appointment computer system... What they said I believe is that they have electronic notification from NVC ( I think a different "system") of the case file coming there way... but they need the actual file to put into the system in order to make an appointment against it.

Gotcha! Thanks.

There is NO Martin Luther King Day in Ukraine. We hardly have any african-american people, so celebrating the B-Day of someone who fought for their rights would be odd. For Ukraine. Don't get me wrong though, great holiday. Very decent occasion.
As for the holiday period. I am registered on one of the Russian/Ukrainian K1-K3 forums, and last year around this time the wait for the inteview wasn't the worst. Like someone said it took a loooong time (well, longer than average) for them to deliver the applicant's passport. The two weeks between Dec 25 and Jan 7 seemed to be a vacation for the embassy staff. And that actually makes sense, it even says on the web site, that all Ukrainian AND American national holidays the embassy is closed.
So Brad, you might get lucky and have the interview before the 16th, but I don't think she will receive the passport on time. If I were you, I would make an appointment ASAP and then re-schedule ur flight, so that you arrive a day or two before the interview.
BTW, we got approved too the other day, so maybe Vika and I happen to have the interview on the same day ;-)

What you fail to understand is that the consulate celebrates BOTH countries holidays... Since MLK is a US holiday, it will be recognized

You ARE right. My bad. I've condradicted myself saying they celebrate both and saying we don't have MLK's day. Lol

Brad,

If you have your NVC number, try writing to the embassy in Kyiv to schedule an appointment as soon as possible after Orthodox Christmas. You just might get lucky.

I would also suggest that you find out if there are any other Ukrainian holidays scheduled in early January. Understand that the embassy will be closed on Martin Luther King Day in January also.

Good luck, if must feel great to be so close.

Fortunately we ran into one half of RYDA (from this forum) at the embassy, and she was able to verify the purpose of the post count. Phew! cool.gif

Haha! The one half (the DA part is Dasha. RyDa=Ryan and Dasha) was glad to meet you guys. Felt like I wasn't completely alone there. And yeah, the wait is ridiculous for the "interview" that really-really-REALLY looked like a formality. I got so burned out while waiting (AND cold!!!) that the outcome of the interview didn't make me quite as happy as the fact that I could finally get the heck out of there! Just kidding, of course - I was ecstatic! smile.gif
Have a good journey you guys! I'll be about two weeks behind you - have some stuff to take care of. But hey! What's 2-3 weeks after all this wait!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK-1 Russian Birth Certificate and translation
Hi jbmail,
Why would the agency (and what kind of agency?) need a new birth certificate from her? How do they explain that? I don't see why they would request a new one... Is hers incomplte or smth?

QUOTE (jbmail @ Aug 7 2008, 02:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Greeting all,

We are so far ahead of the game and already getting Packet 3 filled out and ready. Svetlana has all vaccination papers, is in process of going to Ukraine Police to get police records from Russia and Ukraine and this will be valid for ONE year as stated. I wanted her whole packet 3 filled out so when I arrive Sept 5th, we can check for errors together and make sure all is ready to go.

She already has a passport from 2005 when she traveled to Turkey from Ukraine, and is supposed to have this translated per agency advice, and back then , she showed her birth certificate and did a minor police check at that time and received it, but the agency is telling her now that she must apply for NEW Birth certifificate from Belomorsk where she was born in 1967. She sent letter over a month ago and two weeks ago, got reply that they sent it to local town office in Ukraine, but nobody can find it or can say it was EVER received, so she is still waiting for this, as she feels she NEEDS this to get police background check in the works, as some say it takes 3-4 weeks to come back from Russia??

My question is, Does she eveen NEED this new birth certificate (whats wrong with old?) and shouldn't she be able to get the police check going NOW, even if she doesn't have a NEW birth certificate

She is afraid she will never get this and i am wondering if she even needs it? What does one do if born in USSR and some Boris who doesn't like Ukraine requests NEVER sends you this certificate for ANY reason. I am thinking we could use old and attach letter from Belomorsk saying they sent it and then explain that it never came???

Any help would be appreciated

JB

I go to

And put EXP 19 NOV 2008A in the Reference Number box. Click Track. Nothing happens. It just says "No shipments found. Please revise criteria and resubmit". wacko.gif

Any ideas? Other people's topics that I read and it worked for them were dated May 2008, the latest. Maybe NVC changed the format since then....

Not neccessarily. For instance, I got stuck in several lines at the hospital, cuz apparently they let the adopting couples go in without waiting. I was done at almost 2pm. And the results pick up is at 3. So that depends on how lucky she is, and how busy they are that specific day.

Vika has scheduled the medical on December 15, just to get it done early. I will call the embassy again in this week to see where the calendar is. I don't know about December being full, because a week ago they said the latest appointment available was December 17. Your time frame looks tight to me - even if you were approved today. Post and let us know how it goes.

Take about 3 weeks

You CAN make appt as soon as you receive your KEV number from NVC and if you don't want to wait for paper from them, you can call and they will give you your number, then you can call & get your PIN number that you must pay $12.00 for with credit card, for the luxury of being able to speak to Kiev call center in Poland on the phone

Not my understanding... you cannot get an appointment until the file physically arrives in Kiev

So it IS Poland.... I thought I read about it somewhere.... Plus, they all speak a little, mmm... unlike the regular Ukrainians. Oh well! star_smile.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAnyone Get Kiev Interview in January?
Hey guys!
Kiev embassy is being weird with the appointments lately! My chronology, to give you an idea:
Dec 19th - NVC left
Dec 1st - Called USEM on , the file was there, but they offered me the range of dates from Dec 8th (a week(!) ) till Dec 16th. We were not prepared for that, so I asked for a later date, preferrably in early January, and was asked to call in 2 weeks.
Dec 3d - Packet 3 in mail. I live about 7 miles away from Kiev.
Dec 9th - One of VJ users, Brad&Vika posts here, that they made an appointment for January 12th. So I called them again, and got the appointment for January 12 as well.

Now, as for waiting for Packet three to schedule - how should I put it... Don't do it! wink.gif It even says on the embassy web-site, smth like "even though we send out info packets to all the applicants, the postal service in Ukraine is slow and unreliable, blah-blah-blah". The point is, there is nothing in the packet that you can't get off the web-site.

So keep calling them. Cuz I also emailed them on November 22nd or smth asking if they have my file yet. And while my friend got a reply from them on Dec 1st about the same thing, I never received anything. So I just called.

Good luck!

However, there is one more technicality I am unsure, but curious about. We hope that, financially, what my fiance will have by the time of the interview will be enough. We'll also have a signed and overall ready co-sponsor Affidavit, but we'd like to not turn it in with the rest of the documents at the Embassy, but instead to give it to the CO in case they asked for more proof (documents, whatevers) during the interview. Is this even possible? Or is it better to hand in both Affidavits? Would they just ignore (and therefore return) the one signed by the co-sponsor if the petitioner's was sufficient?

The problem might be the fact that my fiance won't have tax returns for any year other than 2008. He makes enough money now, and has been in 2008, overall. Before that, he was in college and didn't file taxes.

Badgerella, I read somewhere about a girl who had two sets of fin-l dox too, her fiance's and their co-sponsors. When she was called to submit the documents before the interview to one of the consulate workers, she gave her fiance's financial papers and said that they also had a co-sponsor, however she was told that she would only need to present them if the CO asked during the interview. And I believe he never did.
