PhilippinesOne-Airline travel from Philippines to USA K-1 VISA Approved, HELP!!!!

I was denied ticketing once the same way. I don't know why some airlines say or do that - I don't know what advise to give you because from then on I used Travelocity and it always was easy to change flights and move things when I needed to. I think you have to purchase a ticket back at the same time - that seems to be the rules in the Philippines.

Yes. Money and the right connections can move mountains in Pinas. devil.gif

This is the right answer above all answers - I paid a little and was able to skip the 10 day waiting period AND the pre-marital seminar.

I sent a couple pizzas to city hall and walked out with my paperwork

It's all about the $$$

BTW: Why do you care??

There are so many provinces without electricity still that communication is sparse and really not priority for anyone there. What information I have been getting in Bicol is coming via Twitter from expats. The rest of the region has been flattened and relatives here have been three days without communicating with family.

PhilippinesPhilippine Visas Granted !!

I know it is sort of one sided when I say that I am happy for all here that are getting preferential treatment on the issuing of NOA2 with USCIS recently escalating the processing of beneficiaries from the Philippines. But I am always glad for those who share that common interest with me. Filipinos are an asset to the community at large in the United States and I have no problem applauding their achievements. I have many Pinoy/Pinay friends here in Southern California and I support you all especially when it comes to wonderful news such as this.

PhilippinesInterview Advise for Pinay

Here is a helpful hint for those of you visiting the US Embassy for your interviews:

BE PREPARED!

When the interviewer asks you for a particular document or proof, have everything at your fingertips and be able to pull it immediately. They don't like having to wait for your to scramble through your stacks of things looking for what they are asking for. It makes the embassy officer annoyed. Get a file folder like the one below and have everything you need at your fingertips. Better to bring too much than too little.

Pre-kindergarten%2Btoys%2B-%2BAlex%2BToy

You can also have great little photo-books made by your fiancee and shipped to you ... the embassy officers love those!!  They have dates and locations already under each picture. Shutterfly.com makes them the best:

PhilippinesProblem with ex

If your children are under the age of 9 - You DO NOT need consent from the ex to bring your children to The U.S.  This is the Philippines and under Philippine Law the MOTHER has complete custody of the children and may do whatever she likes. You can ask for his blessing but other than that YOU DO NOT NEED PERMISSION. We and others I know have simply removed the children from the Philippines. You must (of course) have physical custody of them.

It's extremely easy !!

PhilippinesReady to File AOS but she is acting out

Ok first of all, I was hit by a very  heater on the head and by a plastic trash can when she went off the handle. I have only seen her act like this on one othe roccassion and she told me she was just kidding because she wanted to see if i loved her.

Stop thinking like an American, how else am I ...........

The last thing anyone should do is ask for marital/relationship advise on an open forum where only one side of the story is told.

PhilippinesReady to File AOS but she is acting out

The adjustment period takes many months and I think you are acting irrational --- STOP thinking like an American. Her belief system is different than yours. "1) try and talk sense into her" -- Is that YOUR sense or HER sense? You have to fund out WHY her reaction was like that and come to an agreement on discipline. If you are tossing out all that you have been waiting for one incident I think you are being foolish. Filipinas are VERY protective of their young and you actually don't have a stake in the raising of a child as much as you think you do. Her upbringing is much different than yours and I think you owe it to yourself AND her to find out why that bothers her. Simply "shipping her back" isn't the right answer ... this isn't something you just bought from Sears and you want to return it because it doesn't work "the way you want it to" - That's my peace of mind on the subject - GIVE IT TIME! Most FilAm relationships (without children) take a year in this country to get the hang of it. If she is upset enough to call her relatives to go back I can assure you there is more than one reason and it's not because you simply pointed your finger.

PhilippinesCrackdown On Sexual Predators

I am happy to see more and more posts in other social sites related to men who are being turned back from Manila due to a conviction for "RSO" - Registered Sex Offender.

In my opinion these creeps do not belong in a long distance trustful relationship with a Filipina. I have been sad for the girls that have had to report such an incident and posting the same thing over and over that "...they just didn't know why their fiancée had to be turned back for just chatting with a teenager..." You and I know that it takes a pretty substantial amount of evidence to convict these guys on such a crime. It is nice that the databases are now linked to the passports to keep these morons out of the country.

PhilippinesHotel for Embassy Visits

I just want to make a personal recommendation for those who have business at the U.S. Embassy or at St. Lukes.

We stayed at Cool Martin Resort and Spa in Cavite next to the SM Bacoor. The owner, Alan Martin has his driver with their personal van give a ride directly to the embassy at 5:30 am as a free service to us. You just need to request it ahead of time. Getting back you are on your own but the taxi fare was only 600 PHP after we spent the day in Manila after the interview. Robinsons Mall was right there.

The Cool Martin Resort and Spa has a swimming pool and quiet atmosphere, not like the noisy places in Manila-- and it was only 1700 PHP standard a night.

Here is their YouTube link:

PhilippinesCRBA Philippines

I have been through quite a few processes in the USCIS maze of paperwork and quite frankly, the CRBA was the easiest of all the processes. I know you can't be there but they have made the order of business so easy. Once they receive your packet they will set the appointment and then notify you of the documentation that you are missing.

Once I got to the embassy I only had to show them the birth certificate from the NSO and my passport. They asked to see the baby and we were issued the U.S. passport within six days. He told me at the embassy it generally takes two weeks but that they were processing them in one week. We talked more about baseball than the damn application process.

My appointment was at 9:30 and I was out of there by 11:30

There is always the SOGO if you like rooms with plastic sheets and red light on the wall (by the hour) ------- what a dump those are. especially when the large sign in the lobby says "Foreigners Beware: No Minors Allowed Here"

I have stayed at the Copacabana and the Heritage.  Both are OK, Heritage is much nicer but more expensive.  Quick cab ride to the embassy and Mall of Asia

I recommend Copacabana -- there are remodeled suites there so don't be a cheapo when you book. The suites are nice and well worth the extra $$

I would like to recommend a hotel and resort just 25 minutes from Pasay / Ninoy Aquino airport. The owner is an Englishman and has very sweet Pinay wife. ok... how's this for a huge BUMMER..

I was told Case complete on June 2nd. I called yesterday and was told the same thing.  I even called early this morning and it was complete.  I called just now and I was told my case is NOT complete and he didn't now why I was told that.. I ask to speak to a supervisor. She looks at my case and told me there is conflicting information.   ( needless to say I am freaking out)   she said she will correct this and call me back this afternoon. Her goal is to fix this by today.  She told me they are finished the first round of July interviews as of June 2nd so I might not make a JULY interview... #######???   so as of right now I am not inline for an interview.      I swear... this is the most EFFF'd up process....

Oh no!!!  That really sucks!!!!   :wow:

My fingers and toes are crossed for you, that you did actually make into the July interviews and this is just a system glitch.

hello friends

i got mail from uscis yesterday stating

now wht to do next?

when and how will i gt my file number and iin from nvc?

Hi Kins8487, congratulations on your approval from USCIS and welcome to the NVC thread.

First thing is first though.  Go to the very first post in this thread and read Saylin's wiki at least twice.  Every time you have a question there's a 99% chance the answer is somewhere in the wiki so that should always be your first port of call.  If you can't find the answer then everyone here is really helpful and will pull together a wealth of experience and knowledge to help you.

Just be aware, there's a bit of a backlog going on at the moment, so some of the usual timeframes are out just now, but you'll get an idea of what date's the NVC are working from in this thread.

Oh and don't forget to fill in Saylin's spreadsheet.  It's another useful tool for all of us to see at a glance how cases are progressing.  (more info about the spreadsheet is also in the first post)

but think of it like this...

Maybe they provide appts to the NVC according to this report.  I would think they would provide enough appts for the incoming files.   ( or does that sound like a dumb assumption?) somebody has to do some kind of forecasting, right???    Oh God  here I am expecting something normal from the government...  GOOD LORD...

Despite being in the UK, I'm completely addicted to US Big Brother.  All I can hear is Julie Chen telling me to expect the unexpected right now!

There is an option for people to private message each other if they would like to get to know a specific individual and I think a lot of people forget about that feature.

I think many do use the feature, but I actually find the "I'm calling now, this is what I was told" conversations particularly useful.  Not many people get an agent who is willing to provide generic information, such as documents from x date are being reviewed at the moment, or that there has been an influx of cases received from USCIS to give a couple of examples.  I sometimes want to call NVC, but after checking this forum and reading recent updates I choose not to at the moment.

this will give everyone an idea of how busy their particular embassy is.    For Costa Rica... 543 for 2013.  That is almost nothing compared to others.  divide it by 52 weeks.  10.44 per week.   Obviously they might do more in one week than they do in another  but this gives me huge hope for my July interview

4172 for GB in 2013.  so divided by 52 gives 80.23 per week.  Gives me huge hope for my July 2015 interview

What etrangais said, as long as you have the case number and IIN you can get into the website. I gave my email address via email, you only need case # to do that, or you can just do it over the phone next time you call.

Ohhh, they must have updated it then as I believe it used to only state IE. I'll update the wiki in a second and probably just remove the entire note as those 3 browsers are what most people use anyways.

Thanks for letting me know! ;)

It's maybe part of their recent updates to the system, because I'm sure it said IE only just a few weeks ago.

PS: Can anyone tell me how to put the timeline in your signature as a spoiler?  My signature takes up half the page lol

Saylin, I just noticed on the ceac site under "browser requirements" that it now shows:

Browser Requirements

  1. 128-bit encryption support
  2. JavaScript enabled
  3. Internet Explorer version 6.0 and higher, Mozilla Firefox version 2.0 or higher, or Chrome version 16 or higher

I imagine keeping up with the ever changing browsers on your wiki would get a bit tedious, but you could replace the sentence about using only IE with something along the lines of "Important Note: When using the payment portal and online forms portal, please check the current browser requirements marked as "Important: Before you begin". The site is designed and tested for the browser versions listed only. If it works in other browsers, it's a bonus for them...."

Then again, on second thoughts, The fact that it says "Important: Before you begin" probably means people won't read it anyway, so you could probably leave it as is

hi everyone, my checklist was sent off earlier this week.  I'm waiting for the doc review from IV docs scan date of Jun 17th, imagine it's going to be at least 2 weeks.  I'm going to take a couple of weeks off the forums until they have been reviewed.  Want to wish you all the luck in the world, especially those waiting case complete.  Stay strong people!  p1003.gif

It says civil documents of the applicant, after receiving those they will review his immigrant visa application, but we already sent them all the civil documents.

N i tried to add the info to a timeline but i didnt know where n how to make that timeline.sorry for being dumb ??

Sounds like a false checklist to me.  If you sent your AOS and IV invoices on different days, they review them in the order received, so if the AOS was sent it first, they review it first.  They can see that more documents are waiting to be reviewed but they won't look at what they are so instead they send a checklist asking you to send them in.  If you already did then you've completed all the actions on the checklist already, hence the false checklist.

You should go to your settings and add a signature.  From here you can add in a timeline which will show on every post.

Congrats to all Case Completes.  Great end to the month  :joy:

I hope I'm wrong, but it sounds like you might have a for real check list. When I called, the Agent told me I was getting a check list but to disregard it as it was just a reminder to send in the civil documents. She told me right away that it was approved.

Granted, some Agents are dooody-heads and won't give out any information because they're on a power trip. If I were in your shoes, I'd call back and pray for a better Agent and verify if I was getting an actual check list or if the AOS has been approved.

so sorry to hear about the checklist! When I called and they told me about mine, I got the email later that day, so hopefully it should be soon. In my case, they definitely had the information on what the checklist was for, even read our which section of the form needed to be changed and, when asked about, how to do it. I guess you could call back and try to get more information or wait for the email and then call back to confirm with them exactly what the checklist means and what they need. I called back after receiving the email to do exactly this and it was helpful and made me feel more confident in what I was sending.

Good luck, and just know that it will end! I know how frustrating it can be but we got through our checklists, now have case complete, and are waiting for an interview. You'll get there too!  :luv:

So it was a real checklist.  Hubby put adjusted income and not gross (got confused by the instruction about 1040EZ).  Can't believe we have delayed our case, especially after "celebrating" our  immiversary on Saturday.
