Hi vj members my fiancee received her nvc case number through the phone with them and they said they shipped it to the embassy and to keep in contact with the embassy but when we checked the case on line it said this : Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	just wondering if its good sign	Hello vj members, my fiancee sent our k1 package last week and she received by email a notification from the uscis today but not the noa1 receipt yet, i wanted to ask if it is a good sign or what and does this service center they routed the case to it good one or slow office. any openions would be appreacited , this is the message we got today ( Your case has been accepted and routed to the USCIS Texas Service Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number With the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) you may visit www.uscis.gov where you can check the status of your case using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status. This confirmation provides notification of the date USCIS received your case.  This notice does NOT grant any immigration status or benefit. Middle East and North Africa	Legalizing U.S. marriage certificate in NYC Egyptian consulate	that is good that ur fiance can get the approval from his church he belong to if so then that would solve all the problems and u can easily marry in egypt if ur willing to do it in egypt but i think the churches in egypt r strict with this issue when it comes for marrying out of there religion and they may ask for ur convert but as far as i know its not an issue in churches in the west usa or canada especially the catholic church they approve it either ways it would be good if he could obtain approval from church but in case he cant so civil marriage in the usa would be the way and after u get ur marriage certificate from there all u need to do is just find a certefied arabic translation office to translate the certificate from english to arabic and put there stamp on it as certified translator in arabic then go to notary publib office and legalise it and last thing go to the egyptian embassy in ny at the time when it open of course dont know what there time u can call or check there website to know as long as ur fiance have egyptian passport or id he should be able to go with no need for appointment then do the last thing legalise it from the embassy and put the foriegn affaire eagle stamp on it and embassy stamp and embassador signture on it then u can use this legalised certificate in egypt after that but i am not really sure if the embassy would allow to legalise it or not but i assume they would cause themarriage happened out side egypt in the country where the embassy located so it should not be a problem after u pay the fee of the legalisation and stamps. hope that would help you and good luck	shady28	Not Telling	Egypt	2013-09-21 16:43:00
Middle East and North Africa	Legalizing U.S. marriage certificate in NYC Egyptian consulate	Thanks everyone for the very kind responses.   Doing the ceremony in New York is not a hardship, we both have family and friends in the area, and would have ended up doing one reception in New York and one in Cairo regardless of where the marriage was performed, because our families want to celebrate with us (one bright spot in this whole mess is that both sets of parents have been quite supportive). It's not out of the question, however, to nip across the border to Canada if there's good reason to believe the registration process will be simpler there.   What Shady has said (that we would face problems marrying at the Ministry of Justice in Cairo) lines up with what we were told by a lawyer in Cairo who has experience with mixed-religion marriages. I hope for others' sakes that he was being overly pessimistic, but we decided not to take the chance. If we get married abroad, at least we can guarantee that we will actually have a marriage certificate and be able to start our lives together, even if it's a bit of a struggle to get the certificate formally recognized by the Egyptian government. I already have a residence permit through my work here in Cairo, so that is not an immediate problem.   My fiance is working on getting his approval papers from the church, just in case we end up needing them for the consulate in New York. It's a bit of a hassle but not a problem, as long as the church does not require that I convert in order to permit the marriage. We shall see.   What we really are hoping is to do the process Shady describes--taking the U.S. certificate to the consulate and getting the Egyptian stamp on it. But despite pretty strenuous efforts, we still have no idea how to do that. Do we need to make an appointment? What documentation do we need to provide? How long will it take? Again, if anyone has experience with the process, I would greatly appreciate hearing any details they can recall.   And I think you're right, Becca, that going in person may be the only way to overcome the aggressively unhelpful attitude of consular staff. If we aren't able to get solid answers beforehand, I think Plan B is to get married, and then assemble every document we can think of and every dignified elderly relative who can be persuaded to come along, and invade the consulate.   This whole process makes me feel truly bad for people who, unlike us, don't have supportive families, financial resources and foreign passports, and are blocked from marrying the person they love.	shady28	Not Telling	Egypt	2013-09-21 16:27:00

Middle East and North Africa	Legalizing U.S. marriage certificate in NYC Egyptian consulate	it is true you can not marry in egypt cause you as a foriegn citizen your marriage must go through the ministry of justice in lazogly squar 6th floor the office of the foriegners marriage but there they ask for proof to show ur religion in order to complete it so in the case of muslim man must marry a muslim like himelf or a christian or a jewish and must get agreement from her embassy that she belong to based on her passport and also she must have egyptian resdency in her passport they obtain it from mogama tahrir in tahrir squar, and for thecase of christian man willing to marry none egyptian no matter what her religion is but he must have the agreement of the church he belong to and the pastor of the chrurch so u said ur fiance is catholic so he must get the agreement from the catholic maranite pastor of the church in order to complete his marriage cause if he cant provide it along with the other papers too bad they wont allow it. my thoughts for you is to follow others country law like usa or canada and make civil marriage there and once u obtain your marriage certificate go to arabic cerftefied translation office so he would translate it to arabic then put his stamp of it then legalize it from a notary public and last thing go to egyptian embassy and they will legalize it and put the egle stamp of the foreign ministry and get the signture of the egyptian embassador on it so you would be able use it in egypt eventually. good luck with it	shady28	Not Telling	Egypt	2013-09-21 02:28:00

By the time we applied for his visa he had been finished with school for 6 years. He had already had 3 jobs by then but never had his id changed to reflect his occupation. Middle East and North Africa	occupation in passport from egypt	hello vj members, i have a question and i'm kind of worried about it and i need your help and advice and i will be greatful to ur responses. i am from egypt and i and my fiancee are preparing to send the k-1 package soon and my concern is about the current job in the biographic form and the forms i will receive from the embassy later to fill inshallah as i'm working in a trading company now for the past 6 months and in my id and passport the profession there is my graduation degree and not my current job and as you know the situation for the papers in egypt they wont change my id to my current job unless the company approve to give me papers to change my job from my degree in the id to the company work and i tried to speak with the manager and they kind of refusing to give any papers or to do insurance. so my question is will it be a problem in the papers or in the interview later regarding this matter that my passport profession is just my degree and not stating the job i'm doing right now do i have to change it to other occupation or just leave it as it is and it wont be a problem later. i would appreciate ur help and ur experience in this matter.       thank you in advance	shady28	Not Telling	Egypt	2014-02-07 19:28:00

Hello vj members, my fiancee is full time student so actuslly she can not fit the requirments of the sponsorship and there is a friend of her who meet the poverty guideline and eligible to do the sponsor form and is willing to fill it along with the other required documents but we do not know if the american embassy in cairo accept co-sponsor or not i saw the instuctions of the packet 3 that was sent from the embassy in cairo back in august to someone in here who is vj member also and attached it but i didnt include a co-sponsor in them they just said form of-134 from the petitioner or personal funds from the beneficiary there was no mention of co-sponsor. i would appreciate ur help and answers of letting me know if cairo embassy does accept co-sponsor or not.         thanks in advance	shady28	Not Telling	Egypt	2014-02-13 19:25:00

It doesn't matter what state they are in, however they will ask how you and her know him most likely at the interview so be ready to explain. It is just assumed that the preferred co-sponsor is a family member but income above 125% is the main thing. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Will I need a Co-sponsor?	Am I correct that I only need to meet 100% on the I-134 for the interview part and will need to meet 125% for the I-864 at the AOS part and would just need a backup cosponsor if needed at AOS time?   yes it is true the i-134 require only 100% poverty guidline but sometimes the co officer at the embassy require the the income to be 125% of the poverty based on the fact that u will fill for aos very soon when he arrives to the usa so will need income of 125% so its actually up to the co officer to dicide if its fine or not so to be on the safe side u need to be over the 125%. from what i see that ur income is already the 125% so i think it will be fine if you want to feel more relaxe about it add any assets u have or any money in bank provide it and it should work and u wont need co-sponsor but if you do not have any assets or money in bank just go by ur income as long as it meets the 125% poverty guideline. another advice be prepared to find co-sponsor that will fill also papers with u in case co-sponsor ask for joint sponsor and let him have it as extra proofs with him in interview in case he is asked for joint-sponsor be ready now better than be ready at time of interview so u want be put under AP. and good luck	shady28	Not Telling	Egypt	2014-03-07 18:19:00

Hello vj members, my fiancee and i almost done to send the k1 package soon and she filled the i-129f form yesterday but there is a part in it where it says if fiabce's name and address in other language than roman alphapets so write his name and address in his native alphapets well my fiancee can not write arabic so i need to know if it should be hand written cause its on on the form on this part to write or is ok if i can type this page on computer with my arabic name and address and send to her so she can print so she wont have to handwrite it cause she doesnt read or write arabic? your help is so much appreciated                                    thank you so much	shady28	Not Telling	Egypt	2014-03-17 18:07:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	smiling in passport photo is it a cause of photo denial and RFE?	Hello vj members, i sent my photo and letter of intent and g-325a to my fiancee cause we are going to send the k-1 package by next week but i have a concern about the passport photo i did read as well as my fiancee also when she took her passport photo in post office in the us they told her not to smile cause in passport photo ur not suppose to smile, but unfortunitally the one i sent to my fiancee it fit all the passport photo requirements 2 inch and white background and everything but i was smiling in it so do you think i have to send another photo not smiling or it doesnt matter? i would appreacite any answer from members who knows about this.          thank you so much in advance	shady28	Not Telling	Egypt	2014-03-12 10:57:00
