CaribbeanWhy does I-797 (NOA2) say "forwarded to consulate"

I just recieved my paper NOA2 today, and reading the text it says "The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate". I take that as it has skipped the NVC step and gone straight to the DR... However, could this be or do all of your NOA2 forms say this?

CaribbeanVaccines in DR

My fiancee will be going in for her medical soon, and i was trying to figure out how much it was all going to cost us. I did find the pdf containing the price for the vaccines for her... $344 for all of the vaccines.

I have spoken with her, and she says she has already had the vaccines but has NO proof on paper. I am guessing there is no way to check for the vaccines? I just want to confirm that with no paper evidence is likely to have to get re-vaccinated and pay the full 344. yikes!

Caribbeanpicking up medical results

When did she have her exam done??

After June 1st they changed the way Medical Exam results are handled...

http://santodomingo....vaccines-e.html

Because the results of the medical examination can take several days, we recommend that you go to Consultorios de Visa at least three/two weeks before you go to the Consular Section for your visa interview, in order to avoid delays in the process of your visa. (I recommend to any Dominican Beneficiary to go just under the 30 day mark.)

The medical results, starting in June 1st, will be given to the visa applicant as soon as the results are ready, however, if there is any problem with your medical condition the results will be sent directly to the Consular Section.

Oh wow, never noticed that! Thank you. She has not had her medical yet... waiting for her packet to come still. She is going to call inposdom next week. She already called this week and they still had not received it.

We will take your advice and have her go do the medical next week. We just got the electronic packet 4 moments ago.

CaribbeanGot our NOA2! what's the current wait time for interview?

Its the DS156k for K1. She fill it out, but wait to sign it in front of the CO at the end of the interview.

thanks!

CaribbeanGot our NOA2! what's the current wait time for interview?

Ok so i have read the wiki page and i still have some questions.

Does my fiancee need to fill out the DS-156K? How about the DS-156? It says at the top of the 156k that it is to be used with the 156. We already did the DS-160 online and printed the confirmation. Should she wait to sign it at the interview?

That's all i can think of for now!

CaribbeanGot our NOA2! what's the current wait time for interview?

Cool. The USCIS site will tell you when it ships. Mine says:

"On May 12, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly."

So you can check your status on there for now. Once it has shipped give it a few days to be recieved. Then they will need a few more days to assign the case number. You will have to call over and over and over. I would call over 20 times sometimes before getting through. It would always be busy. Then after finally getting through you have to wait on hold for what seems like hours to get live help. I would do this during traffic. Thankfully the NVC stage is short for us. The voice on the pre-recorded waiting line sounds like a keebler elf.  LOL

Oh yep, i already got that message, i actually went from the second bubble to the last bubble - post processing - and skipped the "decision" bubble on USCIS site.

CaribbeanGot our NOA2! what's the current wait time for interview?

I think, if I remember correctly, it was shipped to the NVC from the service center in about a week and then the  NVC processing took a while, maybe like another week to 10 days for it to be "recieved" and show in their system (the 20th) We were assigned a case number on the 23rd and then it was sent to the DR on the 27th or 28th. Which was around Memorial Day weekend. Then a couple of days for it to arrive in DR.

I know it's a huge complex with many offices and departments under one roof, hopefully this means a leaner work process, but who knows LOL I STUDY (aka stalk lol) timelines to know where I stand and make sure I don't fall behind. I have been comparing my NOA2 date and look at people before and after me. A friend on here is about a week ahead of me on everything and she recieved her interview date this week for early July! I'm hoping to hear something late next week and I would think it's for late July or early August.

Good luck!! Have you read the post-NOA2 guide for DR? Everything will be moving faster now, changes every few days to weeks as opposed to nothing for months :)

Yes i have read the guide a couple of times. I was thinking it wasn't as current as the info i would get from you though! I think i will call NVC tomorrow - i know its a long-shot but it is possible it has already made it there. I know i figure we are more than halfway there now, but now im getting greedy wanting that visa like NOW! lol

CaribbeanGot our NOA2! what's the current wait time for interview?

We recieved our petition approval on 4/30, and then recieved an email and status change on the USCIS site that the case had been forwarded to the national visa senter. NVC recieved it on 5/20. I found this out by calling the NVC. I also got the case number by calling the NVC. I never recieved an email, but I did get a letter saying the case was sent to the embassy in DR and had the case number on there. Now I check the CEAC site for the interview date. I tried sending an email to santodomingovisas@state.gov but recieved a response about a week later that our interview has not yet been assigned. I also called 877-804-5402 from the US and paid $7 where a live person told me the interview has not yet been scheduled. I believe it takes about 2 weeks for them to schedule an interview after recieving the packet. But, with the move they will be closed for the remainder of this week. Which we can only assume will cause a delay in processing becuase they are busy moving.

Thanks for the info. I am surprised how long it is taking to get to NVC. 20 days in your case. What is the date that it was sent to the DR, ie how long did it sit at the NVC?

Hopefully with the move they also hire more people!

DRboundMaleDominican Republic2014-06-12 11:46:00
CaribbeanGot our NOA2! what's the current wait time for interview?

After getting the NOA2, it will be a wait of 2-4 weeks to get a letter from NVC that says that the case was sent to the consulate...then the consulate will send the packet iv, personally I got it first via email, then 2 days later by mail. The interview will be in 120 days or so...but in my case it took 45 days from the date of the letter I got from the US consulate...so it depends on the US consulate really.

With the new address, my letter said the old address but since its a week after the move, it will be at the new location. According to the US consulate here, the only interviews affected are those that were going to be during the moving days, the rest wont be affected.

Since you were approved yesterday, maybe in the NVC letter it will show the new address (updated)...even if its not updated and it shows the old address, the interview will be at the new location. You can always email the embassy and confirm.

Ok, so the way i understand it the nvc will send a notification email and snail mail saying our case was forwarded to the embassy within 2-4 weeks. This notification will not have the appointment in it. The options i have to find my appointment time is either by waiting for packet 4 (bad because of the DR mail system), by checking online, or by calling the NVC? Is it true that the NVC will also know my appointment time likely before it gets posted to the schedule - hence the reason to call them AFTER my case has been sent to the embassy?

In other words, the embassy in DR schedules the appointment, but they stay in contact with the NVC which is why i can call them to find out the appointment time? I plan to stay on top of it and call often then, once i know my case has been sent to to the embassy in DR... I want to know my appointment date ASAP!

CaribbeanGot our NOA2! what's the current wait time for interview?

I posted it in the December filers forum but i might as well put it here too. We were approved yesterday after 172 days!

I know i have a bunch to do now, but i was curious as to what the current wait times have been from noa2 to KNOWING the interview date, as well as noa2 to interview. I know i can look at the timelines but i was wondering with the embassy change if that was going to have a good or bad affect on the wait time from here on out.

Also, who schedules the appointment? is it the NVC or is it the embassy in DR?

CaribbeanIf Packet 4 Never Comes?

Print outs are fine.

quick thanks!

DRboundMaleDominican Republic2014-08-14 21:49:00
CaribbeanIf Packet 4 Never Comes?

have the email only containing two documents. Does my fiancee need to make the trek to the embassy to get an "original" or will she be ok using the printouts. I know she can get the medical done and pay the banco popular fee with the printouts i just want to be sure that she won't need it for something else!

DRboundMaleDominican Republic2014-08-14 21:39:00
Caribbeanvaccine costs DR vs USA?

When your fiancee pay the medical, they will ask if she is going tto have the vacines here or at usa, be sure that she says here and pay both.
Some people dont understand and answer at usa, they only take the money for medical and then you have to pay at usa for vacines,
When she be at consultorios de visas, she need pay for both, medical and vacines.

Ok thank you for all the responses. We will pay the $350 which will include the medical exam and the vaccines.

DRboundMaleDominican Republic2014-08-16 12:46:00
Caribbeanvaccine costs DR vs USA?

The prive here inclue the medical and vacines, it is better do it here.
If you do the aos before a year after your fiance arrive to usa , dont need go to a gurgeon to sign any paper.

Just so im clear, im paying 350 for her medical AND vaccines? If thats the case ill definitely do it in DR.

Caribbeanvaccine costs DR vs USA?

350+180$ ?? I thought in total 350 w vaccines worst case?

I don't know. Hopefully someone can clear that up for us.

http://travel.state....- Santo Domingo

this is old, and the vaccine price is 344 here... my fiancee called and they told her 350 but she cant remember if that was the new total including vaccines or if it were separate!

DRboundMaleDominican Republic2014-08-15 23:21:00
Caribbeanvaccine costs DR vs USA?

Get it done in the DR...it's included in the cost of the med exam...and, they're likely to require fewer vaccines than if she were to come here. This country is is rabidly pro-vaccine and may likely make a pin cushion out of her. So, just do it there.

are you saying that i dont have to pay $350 + $180? Med exam is 180 and is not included in the vaccine cost from my understanding.

DRboundMaleDominican Republic2014-08-15 21:38:00
Caribbeanvaccine costs DR vs USA?

Alright so i have read it before, But now that its real and i am having to pay the bill i want to know the facts.

I know its cheaper to have the vaccines done before my fiance gets here. Does anybody know the price difference? Are the prices regulated in the US or does it vary by location?

My fiancee is 26 so she falls into the $350 vaccine slot. I can handle the fee but it seems steep to me and i want to know how much it would be to have it done in the US before AOS.

DRboundMaleDominican Republic2014-08-15 18:08:00
Caribbeanbirth certificate
Does my fiancee need to wait to go and get her official birth certificate long version until closer to the interview date or can she get it right away? She seems to think she needs to wait until a month before but that doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me...
