IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Missing Documents checklist	Well, if it's any comfort, I'm now an expert on this subject...I just got one of these today as well. Called NVC and they said send the required checklist package to my wife for review by the CO during the interview. The NVC operator explicitly said it should be presented in a 'sealed envelope'. And if I screwed it up again kiss that visa bye-bye (she didn't say that, but the checklist letter basically did). I hate this. I didn't realize they could close your case and still send you a checklist. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	I'm now in NVC I-864 hell	From what you posted, I'm not seeing anything to about NVC flagging the filing status. Just do as requested. I thought this was list of things that were wrong with my package...the information provided for the household size...it wasn't the problem at all and I wasn't supposed to see this part of the checklist letter...it was hidden until I tried to paste it here on the website for advice. I thought this was what they had a problem with, but it wasn't. I am assuming it was because I didn't fill out the first part of item 25 on the I-864. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	I'm now in NVC I-864 hell	So, how about the question that I brought up: 1040 joint tax return and I-864? I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think so...joint return is the total household income. For I-864 purposes, it all counts..both the petitioner and the beneficiary if they both have taxable income...so I think. you can amend more than one mistake at once so this sounds the best route. The w-4 is just for withholding taxes , not the tax form itself. We avoided the problem by filing an extension but I fear you're beyond that point now. Submit the amended with the ITIN and forward a copy to NVC. Should alleviate your issue, just slow you down a bit. Best of luck!! Bob Yeah, I did submit a 1040X with my original RFE to change my status to Married Filing Separately...but I don't think that was even an issue. IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	I'm now in NVC I-864 hell	Well, but here's another thing. If petitioner submits joint tax return, the amount in 1040 will be different from that in i-864. Because, in i-864 you're showing just your part of the gross income (not your wife's or husband's - depending who's the petitioner). So, how to deal with NVC in this case? Or they will do that math themselves: they will deduct spouse's income from tax return transcript and see if it matches with the amount entered in your i-864? I've just started my wife's GC trip (having sent i130, but later have realized that I forgot to include joint tax for 2010 as another evidence of our genuine marriage), so want to get prepared for the NVC stage. Yes, but it turns out that I totally got the problem wrong. There was a mistake in the return and I fixed that. I think the real problem though, was that I never filled in the first part of question 25...where you check the box that indicates that you filed returns for the last 3 years and then you put the total income for the last 3 years on the 3 lines underneath...I left that totally blank and just checked the optional box where it says that I provided the last 3 years of tax transcripts (which I included in the package). It was that fact that led to the last RFE, I'm pretty sure. Also, I was able to the values in the PDF checklist they sent me, which showed the actual numbers they were using...and which indicated that my household size was 1. I don't think I was supposed to see that...I couldn't see those numbers until I was pasting the RFE onto a document and they showed up...they were deliberately hidden in the PDF. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	December 2013 filers	well i called today, and raymond's first question was if i was waiting for my second interview.  I said no,  I'm waiting for my first one! he said he was going to file a report so that they can speed up the process on giving me an interview.  That this would help get things done faster.  My information was in the system but nothing of a mention of an interview.  I guess he probably thought it should of been given by now.  I hope.  He said it can take from 4 to 6 weeks. if i do not hear from them within 6 weeks to call. obviously ill call before hand.  I'm going to call later this week. Thursday.   Perfect. I would do the same. They told me the same thing on wait time. I bet u will call thursday expecting them to tell you the same and then they tell you you have the date. They are mailing out the visa to your Fiance?                 they said in about three weeks she will have the visa, but we opted to go and get the visa at Domex hoping to save time. I am still prepared for three weeks more or less. Then, when she has the visa in her hand, i will buy a round trip ticket for myself and a one way ticket for her. Hopefully i can work it out to take a week of vacation here in the DR upon my return. This visit for the interview was only a couple of days, going back to work Wednesday! She has done her medical and paid her fee at the bank and also gotten her police form de buena conducta o algo asi. All is ready except a letter from my employer which i expect to have Monday. Im going down there for the cita and i will return the day after. Then, when she gets the visa in hand i will buy her a ticket to come here and a round trip ticket for me to pick her up. My rt ticket to Vietnam costs me $1,500+ and it's a 25-hr flight (including transfers).   Thank you both. Most of us now are going to be having our fiance(e)s here very soon! after the NOA2 it really goes fast... ive read it before but now i believe it!   As for vietnam, i didnt realize that was a country that the petitioner was required to go to... are you required to go the interview? who else is planning a trip to their beneficiary's country for the interview? obviously DR, Vietnam it looks like. I know with Pakistan you don't have to go (Jon York).   And yes i am lucky, only $410 for a RT ticket! I can go there and come back almost 4 times with your $1500! This may have serious effects on processing this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your mailing address for this notice to be re-sent.   I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY???   There must be an error on your fiances address... They probably made a mistake when entering it into the system. They are trying to send you the NOA2 i imagine. You have not received the NOA2 paper copy, correct?   Just have him call there ASAP and fix the address on file. Hopefully it wont actually hold up the case! She said that was normal time. Even though we have seen cases get received before that.   That's what they always say. Like you said many happen quicker than that. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.     You should get one more notice like miamorjuan mentioned. I got a second notice that said it had been shipped. By second notice i mean first notice after what you see there. it will say that it has shipped. I would then give it a week maybe and start calling... But if you are like me you will call twice a week starting today! it just makes it seem to go by faster like that! So the same website, uscis is what let's you know if nvc received it?   no, uscis only says it has been shipped. to find out about the case number and if the nvc has received your case you need to call the 603 number in NH. On my NOA2 Hardcopy it says sent to the listed consulate..I believe they are talkign about NVC isntead right?   Yes, they all say that they have been sent to the listed consulate. It just means NVC. Good for you.  pretty fast..   How long should i wait to call NVC to see when they received my petition?   i know it says from 1 to 4 weeks. it will be two weeks this thurs,  shall I call then?   I would call later tonight if you don't have anything better to do, like around 11pm EST... I started calling after about one week... although mine took about 4 weeks to be received at NVC. It doesn't cost anything, just a bit of your time. 7 am for the shortest hold time though i have found. Sometimes they don't open the phone lines until like 7:03 though! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	December 2013 filers	Hi Everyone,   I called NVC this morning and luckily was able to get the case number. I have few questions regarding the NVC and next process.   I checked my status at CEAC website and it shows   "AT NVC - Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) for the next step in the processing of your visa petition. If you have misplaced the instructions sent to you by the NVC or did not receive them, please contact us at http://travel.state..../info_3177.html for additional information."   I haven't received any paperwork? Any idea of what that could be? The lady who I spoke to over the phone from NVC she mentioned to me that they have received my application just two days ago.   Any more information on next steps would be highly appreciated. Thanks     I also have not received any paperwork from NVC... and they received and assigned my case # on 7/10. The next step would be to keep checking CEAC... it took about 6 days for mine to go from saying "At NVC" to saying "In Transit".   When you see that its in transit don't bother calling NVC, i made that mistake last night because the text at the bottom indicated that they had already assigned my interview date. I was told on this call that the reason they had not yet received my file, and the reason it will likely be delayed another 2-3 weeks, is because our star service center decided to send a whole batch of approved petitions to california instead of the NVC in Portsmouth, NH!   Great... so my 4-5 weeks started the 30th, maybe! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	December 2013 filers	From my experience I wouldn't worry too much about when your file gets to NVC or when it leaves NVC.   They will mail you a letter with your service # as soon as they forward it to your consulate. You will receive this before it gets to the consulate most likely and then will be able to schedule your appointment as soon as the consulate notifies you.     At this point you don't have much waiting to do so try not to stress too much!   Thanks, well for my consulate i don't get to choose the date... still should heed your advice and not stress too much. Interesting what the other poster mentioned about the 25,000 newly approved apps. Must be coming from CSC cuz they certainly aren't coming from TSC!
