I'm afraid you're going to have to be much more specific and then maybe we can help you. Will 700.00 be enough of a budget for WHAT, exactly?

Also, budgets are very subjective....what you may consider enough, I may not and vice versa, etc. What exactly are you trying to determine, is the main thing.... :) M.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat's this mean... lol
Boy....I know how frustrating it is to wait.. so I feel for you wanting to know anything..but the simple and short answer is that you had it right all on your own.. It does really!! vary by consulate, and it's hard to say. London was a 3/4 weeks, but others can be VERY much longer(and some not) Maybe someone that's going through your consulate(which one is it btw, I'm confused..it doesn't take much at the moment, so it's not you, it's me! )will have some better advice for you. best wishes for it to be a speedy one! :) M.

oh noooooooooo. It's just saying that he's not entitled to receive those type of benefits from the UNITED STATES governement..he's perfectly entitled to receive what he likes/is able to/is necessary from his own! No worries as long as you can prove that 125 percent of poverty on your end either by you, or by you and a cosponsor. :) :) :) M.

PS..the only thing I would wonder about at ALL(and try not to worry..you will get other responses  ) is his diagnosis as far as the medical goes..as far as any mental illness type of diagnosis..I dont' know how that's treated/looked as as opposed to a serious physical illness. If it would impair his working here(and it likely would if it does there!) I would think that issue would be resolved anyway as long as you could prove you could support him(with the affidavit of support(s) ) but I don't know how the would look at it as far as the medical goes. Anyone answer that for her(and me!) Thx. M. (and PS..I'm sorry to semihijack there..I know that wasn't your original question at all..just curious myself now.) All the best to you! :)

hugs back! :) Not sure if you knew that on the affidavits or not, but didn't want to seem as tho I were 'talking down' to you either, as if you didn't know that already! ;) If you' have signed the affidavits already, and they are NOT notarized, you'll have to redo them and sign them in front of a notary, that's all.I may still be misunderstanding as well, because I'm not sure if you've done that already or not. All the best with it girl. Sounds like you're on top of all of it! :) M.

I'm sure you this, right Lynne..but YOU have to sign the papers(affidavits) in front of the notary yourself..that's what I was referring to.. :) M.

PS..the employment letter doesn't have to be notarized. you can certainly do that if you wish, but it's not necessary. we didn't. :)

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand your question. :( If it is what the title says, and you are wondering about what they told her at the consulate, the answer is just what they told her. Timeframes differ widely. It could be a week, a month or longer, but don't worry too much..normally it's not too long. It would help everyone immensely to help YOU if you would please fill in your timeline so we know where you are in the process. I think that's partly what's confusing me. Thanks! and all the best to you...M. :)

Maybe not, Becca....and all of this may very well be true/going to happen/etc...I just think it's kind of silly to start a mass panic of already stressed out people(like I myself was waiting for NOA2,etc) until there's some more confirmation. US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAfter NOA2
I'm not sure if by the first question you meant does she need to take all of the documents she will take with her to the interview to the medical? The answer to that is no. If you meant something else, I'm sorry I didn't understand and, to be honest, am so far removed from the process by now I probably wouldn't answer correctly anyway.

As to your second question, however, I do know the answer to that. You CANNOT marry "officially" for the first time abroad...since you are doing a K1 visa, you must get married, once she enters the US, within 90 days IN the United States. You can have some sort of "ceremony" or whatever (not an actual marriage..unofficial type thing) but you won't be able to do that once she enters....as she won't be able to leave again until she gets advance parole or her green card...you would have to travel to her BEFORE her entry on the K1 visa. Your marriage, at least the legal civil part, has to be here in the US.

Hope this helps..best wishes to you! :) M.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionLifting of Conditions Question
Ok..I just read.again..the section 7 of the FAQs. We're still more than a year from filing to lift conditions, but I still have a question:

Does this mean that even if we file on the first day we are eligible, that there is a good chance Craig won't be able to work again?? That if he gets established in a job, he will then have to quit?? I read where it says you get a stamp from the local office....and it's good for one year for work (travel as well?) but it says after approval of this petition to lift conditions. Are they *normally* approved within the 90 day time frame? If not, like most other things USCIS related, that's pretty messed up!!!

Thanks...M.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 fees and confusion
I agree with what Yodrak wrote in another thread....I'm not *quite* understanding why we have to pay another biometrics fee?? That's just ridiculous after all the bios and checks that have already been done at this stage!!! *really angry but rant off*. I *am* going to read the guides about this process again soon, but if anyone is really bored out there and feels like enlightening me in the meantime...so is Craig going to have to travel to Milwaukee (our closest ones) or Duluth to get a stupid fingerprint or whatever done again?? (it's 4 1/2 hrs or so each way for us...argh!) M.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion90 Days prior (to file) question.....
smile.gif

Hi all!

I was just wondering...have been doing a lot of reading lately on lifting of conditions as we are in that 90-day timeframe now...Craig got his perm. resident status on January 5, 2005. What I am wondering is.... I know it is important to file within the 90 days, but how late can we push it? I mean, I'm not going to wait til a week or two before January 5, but would a month or so before be ok? or is that too late?

The only reason I ask this is, as ever, MONEY! We can borrow it if we need to, but we just don't ever seem to have the extra laying around!

Thanks! smile.gif Michelle

Take a look at the instructions, it shows where to mail depending on where you live.

We didn't forget to sign the form but I used the wrong one so also got it back in the mail on Thursday. What a bozo I can be from time to time blink.gif

Good luck good.gif

Anyway, she knew where to send it originally...but, as she said, she sent it to Texas Svc Center and it came back from Cali...it had obviously been transferred......hmmmm. I wish I could help, but I don't know either....someone will come along who will I imagine...or you may have to ring up the useless 800 number.... wink.gif M.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionVery bad news, we ned your help!!!
The marriage certificate is always sent (required) with the AOS packet, so it's really not necessary at this stage of the game...with all of the paperwork they handle, I'm sure they don't even care to get duplicates of what they have already! smile.gif It never hurts, but that wouldn't help at this point.

Chickie, yes..don't stress (as everyone else has said) and yet I understand WHY you are....not because you won't get approved eventually most likely...but because it's like "what MORE do they WANT!??!" Heh...I think we can all understand that feeling to some degree!

I also agree with what everyone as said about more financial proof...but I would have thought what you DID submit would be fine....ugh. I mean it's not like we all HAVE those things....I submitted joint checking account statements for 2 dif. banks and bills in both of our names and jointly filed tax returns....but we don't have a lot of the biggies most ppl do...we don't have wills, (I know, I know!), we don't have insurance, (can't afford to be without it, I know..but we reallyyyyyyy can't afford it!) and don't have mortgage/lease as we rent a home my parents own and they don't require a lease..I lived here nearly 10 years before I even met Craig.

Anyway, follow the advice here and gather all you can...but I'm sure it is frustrating to say the least....lovely ol' USCIS! smile.gif *hug*! M.

QUOTE (jsnearline @ Dec 16 2007, 07:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Good question. The instructions on the latest version of the I-751 state that:

QUOTE
The documents should cover, but not limited to, the following examples...

On the one hand they refer to examples, but on the other, they say your evidence should cover what's listed. Now, something like a birth certificate wouldn't necessarily apply to everyone, but in the case of a lease or mortage contract, I would think that would apply to everyone since USCIS wants to see iron clad proof of joint residence.

I can't see how it applies to everyone....as I said....it doesn't apply to US, for just one instance! wink.gif As I mentioned, we have no lease agreement as my parents don't (obviously) require one, and we don't have a mortgage as we don't own...so, no big. I'm not worried. I think, as you mentioned, they only want proof of relationship....many times that includes living jointly, other times it does not, actually. (there are many examples, but military comes to mind....although, obviously, most legit relationships...the two do reside together.) There are many, MANY ways to prove this without mortgage or lease....as Caro said, copies of DL showing the same addy....and then there are bills in both names with the one addy, tax returns...both names, one addy....etc. etc. Don't fret too much, trinity. smile.gif M.

PS...while affidavits are another thing that are not required, we did submit a couple. My mom filled one out and in it she mentioned that we lived together ina home they owned....so, our situation is covered, but just not in that way. I would have been comfortable with our packet even if she had not done that, however.... smile.gif

Not having your name on the mortgage may be a problem since they specifically ask for evidence of that as part of evidence of relationship:

QUOTE
2. Lease or mortgage contracts showing joint occupancy and/or ownership of your communal residence.

http://www.uscis.gov.../I-751instr.pdf page2

You may want to include something from your husband explaining why he has chosen not to put you on the mortgage.

My hope is that your daugher's birth certificate will trump not having your name on the mortgage, but you never can tell. It all depends on the person reviewing your petition.

Please correct me if I'm wrong (and I mean that! smile.gif ) but isn't that lease/mortgage evidence just a suggestion? I don't think anything, aside form the form, the money and the copies of GC are REQUIRED.....right? M. Unless someone comes along and says otherwise, that it IS required, I'm pretty sure it's not and I wouldn't worry to much about it. (If I were you...which I'm not. wink.gif ) We didn't submit that and I'm not worried in the least. The reason WE didn't is that we rent a home that my parents own...so I/we haven't signed any lease/contract and we don't own yet, we rent as I said, so don't have a mortgage. I think they just give suggestions in the instructions of things that would help give them a clear picture of your living situation...but aside from the few things I mentioned they are just that...suggestions. M.

Yeah, ok. First of all, If we don't RECEIVE receipt not re cei EVE.... wink.gif

2nd, Hey all! Sup?? smile.gif THENNNNNNNNNN......

We sent Craig's packet about 2 months before expiration. (His 2 year card expires January 5, 2007) I have tried to look this up everywhere, but I can't seem to get an answer.

We got our delivery confirmation a few weeks ago, and NSC is showing as up to date with their receipts (I know they were behind with receipts for a while), so what if we don't have that receipt/year extention by the time his card expires?

I know from the USCIS site that they honor the filing as of the day they received it in the mailroom...and we have proof that they did get it by our delivery confirmation....but will this affect his job or anything like that?

We will, of course, make an Infopass if we MUST....but it's no small thing for us. We have an old vehicle, we are both working (as far as coordinating a day to go do it) and, most difficult, the nearest 2 offices to us are both 4 1/2 hours away...one way! We would prolly go to the Duluth, MN office, where Craig did bios once before.

Anyway......anything to worry about? I haven't really BEEN worried about it...but Craig has a bit...if I thought it was anything TO worry about I would have been...but now HE's getting ME a bit worried! (lotsa "worrieds" in there..make any sense???)

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL blush.gif
