 Hellllllo Everyone!

NOA2 received via email 06/03/07, Sunday. The actual approval date was 06/01/07. I received two identical emails for the approval. I got a touch on Friday, so I was going to start really paying attention on Monday. But when I checked email this afternoon, there it was. On Sunday no-less.

I can't wait to break the news to my lady. She will be so happy.

Thanks everyone! Good Luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 Finally! YEAY!

Hey Everyone!

Scott and I got our NOA2 and the letter/packet 3 in the mail dated JUNE 1! Finally. But we both know it's not all smooth sailing from here on it either!

Got some questions about package 3--we are dealing with Montreal

Do we wait till we actually have the documents in hand before signing the checklist and sending it? Or did anyone else just check it and then start grabbing the things--birth certificates-I had the kids long forms somewhere but can't find them so I am going to send away for them again as I need to for mine.

Was going to go get police check a number of times but life has been so busy that I wasn't stressed about it--now that we have package 3--I'm a bit more stressed!

I am assuming that they schedule the interview once this checklist is in and I don't think things will take that long to get. We would just like to have the interview for the beginning of August.

so my question is---sign and send checklist and hope we get everything in time or wait till I have everything in hand--thoughts??

thanks again for everyone's advice, help, suggestions etc

best of luck on your journeys!!

Angel

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVisa Fairness

Are you simply pissed off that she couldn't get a tourist visa or is there more to the story? Are you simply questioning why some countires are allowed to participate in the VWP and others aren't? I don't think anyone here can provide a satisfactory answer for you.

Many many many people cannot get tourist visas from all over the world. It's not just Brazil. My niece-to-be was just denied yesterday - she's a 14 year old student who wanted to be able to visit me and her uncle in the US next year. She has significant ties here considering her parents live her and she has to return to school after any vacation. Her family makes more than enough money, owns property, etc. and proved all of this. Yet she was denied. It happens everyday. At least your fiance will be able to come eventually, permanently, on a Fiance Visa.

Yea im pissed off at a lot of things regarding this immigration #######. And yes, Im questioning everything. Noone here will be able to give me any kind of answer but Im going to speak my mind. I dont think you may understand that yes, i know the system is unfair. I know fully that its not just Brasil. Why should an Italian for example, be able to come here without a tourist visa and a Brazilian has to have one? Any American citizen has the right to be with the one they are going to marry without her having to go through a humiliating gyno exam. What business does the government have getting into her private parts? The government makes our future spouse pay a high price for that OUR right. No wonder our government is so hated abroad. Embassy employees are very cruel and rude to applicants for a visa and its so unnecessary. Its a bunch of ####### that those with Cuban fiances get their approvals so fast and others have to wait and submit RFE's for no reason. Good for them however, but the system can obviously move faster for us all too and not just because our fiance would be a Cuban. If a faster approval can work for them it can work for us all. Consolidating service centers doesn't help any either. The government wants to take more money from us and at the same time give us worse service. I havent heard squat from Uncle Sam since I applied on June 5. Thats all i got to say for now.

CSofA

Well, first let em say, my fiance was denied a Tourist visa as well...and to her country is not on the Visa Waiver Program either...however it is because her country does not meet the requirements for it, just as your SO country does not meet the requirements for it...as well as you, I don't like Cubans receiving extra benefits, faster service whatever...just like the VSC guys, yet there is nothing that is going to be solved by getting on here bashing others as well...you are in for a long wait, I suggest that you find a hobby...weight lifting worked for me...

The wait is getting harder each day I look at the calendar. My petition has been "setting" for around 72 days now and I can't believe we will have to wait up to three more months or more! I am heading off to Bangkok in four weeks for a seven day visit. I can't wait!!! But alas, I know that I will have to return and go into the "waiting mode" for many more weeks. But I know that every day that passes by on the calendar is one more day closer to being with my love.

US Citizenship General DiscussionMy today's Naturalization Interview experience...!

Hi Everyone!
I would like to share my todays interview experience.I came to the interview with my husband ,the officer didn't let him in with me to the conversation room,so he was left in the lobby.
I was held in the conversation room for for 40 minutes where the officer asked me a tones of interesting questions :) In the begining, i thought my aplication is gonna be denied because the officer told me it was filed 2 days earlier then it supposed to be and i didnt count the days correctly as February has 28 days, though i was actually filing on January.
So,i was about to cry there and very stressed and really thought thats it and will have to refile again.
The officer went to talk to the lawyer next door or somewhere over there and came back with the good news that everything is fine.
I was happy to hear that! Then,i ve been asked to provide different types of evidence,as recent bills, recent pictures of my husband and i togehter, tax returns for the year of 2004,2005 and especially for the year of 2006,different questions were asked about my life with my husband and etc..
Well, that was a pleasure to talk about it as i didnt have anything to hide and was telling what it was and we ended up with conversation about my parents .
I have been also asked to write a 3 sentences in English, then read another 3 sentences in English and then i signed the New Test taking form ,consisting form 145 questions and the officer asked me just 10 questions and i scored 100%.
So ,finally i was approved and my Oath Ceremony going to take place at the end of June ,according to the words of the officer.
So,2 more month to wait till to become a Citizen!
Ok i'll end it here.
Best wishes. (F)

Congrats...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportspl. contact your congressman to complain about the slow processing times

Yeah, I don't think the current wait times are too too bad. The thing that I gripe most about (the difference between I-129F processing times depending on where you live) seems to have an easy solution: send NSC or TSC petitions to Vermont! I think evening out processing times would make a lot of people less grumpy.

Yeah, I made that comment in another thread. When they stopped proccessing I-129f's in TX why did they transfer them to CA, the center that was just as behind as TX? Government logic at work I suppose.

I too have complained about this...the difference in processing speeds, it does not help, they are aware of it, and quite frankly it pisses me off knowing that both them knowing and not caring and me having to wait longer than half the country...the governement did not hesitate to tell me that I was going to Iraq...sorry for the rant.
hmm1MaleSouth Korea2007-04-09 18:36:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportspl. contact your congressman to complain about the slow processing times

What would the point of complaining be? Unless they have the funding to open another service center or hire more people, it's not going to happen. USCIS processing times are MUCH faster these days than they were in the past and generally speaking the delay is at the consulate end. (Imagine if you had to wait six months for a spousal visa petition and then 12 months for an interview date in Ciudad Juarez where the backlog is that long)!

You're right. Which is why raising awareness for funding is important. Of course, it's important to remember that USCIS is a self-funding agency - which means it spends what it brings in on its petition fees. That's where we get back into the whole debate about raising fees. There's always the argument that USCIS should get funding from additional soures - which is something anyone is free to bring up with his/her representative.

But everything you cite as being a reason why complaining is pointless is a reason why it's important to call and voice your concerns.

If I personally felt the wait times were "so unfair to the US citizens that we have to wait this long for the processing time" perhaps I would call. I know that the priviledge of being able to file in the first place does not guarantee a fast process. I got caught in IMBRA so my I-129F took 5+ months instead of the average 90 days. I did get my senator involved - because at first, no information was provided to filers and once it was, petitions were approved completely out of order. I thought THAT was a valid reason to voice my concern. But I don't believe a few months wait is any reason whatsoever to involve my elected official. I pick and choose my battles carefully and I definitely don't agree that wait times are unfair to USCitizens. It's all about perspective (and patience).

I understand that part...it just gets tricky when your unit is on a PTDO, prepare to deploy on order...and then there is the entire classified part of it. So I can fall on both sides of the track...I just get frustrated with this entire process...oh well, like I said I am patiently waiting.

What would the point of complaining be? Unless they have the funding to open another service center or hire more people, it's not going to happen. I would recommend a timeline search here on VJ to find people in your particular timeframe to compare who has their NOA-2 .. the timelines here are much more accurate than the ones on the USCIS website

I agree ,the timeline is statistically sound as it takes a large sample from the general population, around the US and forms the the timeline.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGetting help from Congressman to expedite Visa process

^^

It doesn't work well with the military, my unit is on "PTDO or Prepare to Deploy on Order", not very official, but is a notice that if the flag goes up, you will leave in two weeks...yeah, my expedite was turned down even with Congressional help...so officially after the K-1 is finished, i am done with the military and the government...I have 13 years in and am an officer...

Long story short, congressman told me expeidte almost never works, especially CSC, even the Congressmen know about them...
hmm1MaleSouth Korea2007-04-12 20:22:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWHY VERMONT CENTRE IS FASTER THAN OTHERS?

Well, I'm compiling data on this egregious discrepancy and forwarding it on to my Senator. It may not do any good, but it makes no sense for California to take on nearly 3 times the case load. From the data I've gathered so far, even though they have 3 times the case load, it takes them quadruple the amount of time to process them. And, in my case, and others marrying Canadians, the same thing happens at the Department of State level, as Montreal serves a higher population, as well, and is much slower than the consulate in Vancouver. In one recent report from the Canadian forum, someone called the Montreal Consulate and was told that it would take 8-12 months to schedule an interview.

Here is a list of the state senators, their addresses and phone numbers. You might want to draft a letter template and make it available for other VJ members to mail to or use to call their senator(s). If there is a concerted effort behind this, they make start to take notice.

List of senators

Do you hav e acopy of the letter that you sent to your congressmen(women)? Can I see a copy of it?
