Hey guys! Just got in, but wanted to let you all know as soon as possible: I AM IN THE US!!!!!!! Puppy was a hero and survived the cargohold!

POE was a breeze - when I got in, there were hundreds of people in the foreign citizens line, so I asked a guy in uniform if I could go with the US citizens. I gave him a very sad look and told him about my puppy in cargo and he let me :)

There were no question whatsoever, just about the dogfood I had on me - because of that I had a twenty minute wait in secondary customs. Otherwise, really no problem at all.

Now I am just waiting for my baby to come home on Sunday and we'll be reunited :) :) I am ridiculously (however you spell that) happy!!!!!!!

Great news about the puppy. That's very reassuring for me. I had no idea dog food was the new contraband. Best of luck and warm wishes for your new life.
You can be one of the first to give us the heads up on AOS, but do switch of for a while and enjoy being free from all this for a few months x

I just called the customer service hotline, and they told me they can't do anything until the 12th (it should be the 10th, but that's a Saturday). They also happened to mention that '5 months is an estimate. It can take 5, it can take 7.' geez!

If they're going to drag this out beyond the normal timeframe we'll have to abandon this route and move elsewhere. I know this is harsh, but it could start causing big problems--mainly my fiance's career and finances. He's finishing up a phd and can only put his life on hold for so long while he's waiting to move here. When I applied I estimated that it would take 5 months to get the petition approved, so so far we're okay. However, if this is going to drag on much longer I may end up back in the UK.

Anyway, we're still doing okay. Who know. Maybe something will come tomorrow. One day at a time, etc.

No, no, no, no, NO! BS. Go to congressman. You will get it the day after the congressman puts in his enquiry. Trust me, been there, got the T-shirt.
All you need to say is, VSC are not processing in date order, which is on their mission statement and which they claim they live and die by. There is enough evidence of the breach of their very own policies and procedures of that on VJ Igor's list alone.

Hello DogHandlet and the rest of Novemberite VSCs, I was in a hiberation mode after a VSC virus infection but thanx to the NOA2 vaccine and we just sent our Packt 3 last Sunday. But suprisingly, the Egyption consular unexplicably DHL back the entire package to my fiance yesterday with NO explanation or whatsoever    . We know someone opened the package and stapled everything together, but with no explanation and no note, someone at the consular decided to use our pre-paid DHL package and sent the enitre packge bak to us with NO explanation. I think someone is smoking so much Shuha in there and forgot what to do :bonk: :bonk: So we ended up DHLing everything again this morning and hopefully someone will straighten in out for us... :help: Other than we are happy to see the many progresses that are underway and good luck to all family memebers...

HandA

So good to hear from you! The Cairo Consulate :wow: they are TOTALLY BONKERS! They could run their own comedy club! They must have thought you were smokin the Shuha too and could "tune in to the vibes" on what was wrong with your packet 3.

We've heard it ALL now! You just have to keep laughing! I've been howling at the moon tonight I'm officially demented now!

I should have contacted my congressman months ago!! Instead I did at the last min. and ended up getting an expedited case, but I was about to be approved anyway (or I would assume so as it had been 4 mos and counting) Question....Now that its expedited....does that help us at all now that the Dublin consulate has it??

I could be wrong, but I don't think it does. I think it just expediates it out of VSC. Each embassy is different, as we know, some go faster than a bullet train and don't need any expediating! No idea how fast Dublin works.

Have any of the 'Londoners' got an interview date yet, or are these being posted on another thread?

Here's the UK interview thread. http://www.visajourn...d/page__st__750

Tell the SunDrop lady to add you to the list. No we don't have an interview date, London goes sooooo slow! And they will be closed Friday and Monday cos of Easter weekend so that'll backlog them again.

Your story gives me hope! I'm still waiting for my NOA2 and thought I was the only one.

Honey, by my calculations you are at 141 days of waiting...and that is simply awful. If you haven't got it in 10 days, you must get your USC's congressman to put in an enquiry, as you are right up to the 5 month wait. Or, you can call and complain yourself. Keep us posted, we are all here for you, and feeling for you.

I was expecting the P4 for tomorrow, I guess I won't get it till next week :(

Not happy at all right now :crying:

Keep that pecker up, Naddy.

I go away for one hour only, and return to find there has been EARTHQUAKES (!), the return of heisable (nice!, missed ya, I am still missing H&A) and the announcement that Justar got her NOA2! 133 days, girlfriend, that is NOT funny. Your nerves must be shattered).
We were about to report your missing in action at VSC to Interpol!
So relieved for you. I imagine there is much dancing in the streets of Brazil tonight.
It's raining cats and dogs in Scotland tonight. I am so bored I am watching Muriel's Wedding.

 I just checked my mail, nothing :girlwerewolf2xn:

@ An : I don't know if they sent it to me, and just on it's way to me. I called the consulate yesterday, and the woman didn't even know what P4 is. I tried to explain to her and I told her that I have undelivered mail problems, and that I'm afraid that they sent me the P4 and that it got lost, and if she could check if I have an interview date scheduled, and all she said after like half an hour, is "send them a fax" >.<

So I'll mail them tomorrow if I don't get anything.

@ Megan : Gratz on the medicals, now just waiting for the interview date.

@ KisK : stresssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

@ Jess : lol, you go girl

Naddy, that piece of writing. Awesome - is there no end to your talents?

Your poem reminded me of Morrissey (he's great British songwriter).

And in the words of Morrissey, I say to VSC "I bear more grudges than lonely high court judges"...for holding me up so long.

I am also bored. How I dearly wish I was not here (Morrissey, again!).

Thanks guys!!! Actually just bought plane ticket and I will be on US soil on April 1 :) :) Countdown begins !!!!!!

Also got my international drivers license today, just saying as a reminder to some of you who might also need it. I was also advised to get a new copy of my birth certificate that I will need for the marriage license - the one I showed the embassy was from the time I was born, so didn't have an English section like my shiny new one. Now all I have to do is get my puppy his final documents and we are good to go... never thought this day would come.

Arwilson80 - yes, the unfortunate monument commemorating Russian soldiers is right between the coffee place and the embassy :)

Mrs. Dog - just for their good record, it's the Hungarian embassy that did such a great fast job! Thanks all of you for cheering with me!!! xxx

Hungary, of course, never to be confused with Ukraine. Dumb dog moment.

Big thanks for bringing to mind the international drivers license. That was one thing I had not thought of, was not on my ever increasing to do list, and something which is crucial for me.

You are entering the USA on April fools day! How funny, cos this process is certainly no joke.

I am sitting in the historic city of Budapest on the terrace of my favorite coffee place (right across the square from the US embassy), enjoying the beautiful spring weather and writing to y'all:

I GOT APPROVED! VISA IN HAND TOMORROW!!!!!!!

The interview itself was short, but lots of question mainly about my fiance. Where was he born, what does his father do, where has he lived, what were his jobs, where did we meet, where is the wedding, etc. She also asked me where one of the pictures we included in the original packet was taken (I guess to test me, as it was printed on the back.) So nothing hard, nobody has anything to worry about.

Can't stop smiling, people around me think I'm crazy :)

So come on everybody we'll all be over this is no time! Thanks for the support again, to quote Mrs. Dog, I don't know how people go through this process without VJ...

 The best news KisK! Your news has got us all smiling now. And, 10 out of 10 to Ukraine embassy for total efficiency! Let us know when you're going. Kiss goodbye to your favourite coffee place x

You guys are all just starting to plan...

We have most done. Maybe a little 'ahead of the game' if something goes wrong, but whatever... :)

Anyways... Had a response from Dublin this afternoon - my case is off to London either today or tomorrow.

And 1 other thing... I was on the embassy site yesterday and noticed this paragraph:

Does this mean that i need to have my medical at least a week before the interview, or can i go ahead and have them on 2 consecutive days and have them 'finish off' the visa when they get the medical results?

I know the easy way is 2 trips and then when i arrive for interview i will know that they have them. I'm just trying to see if i can get it all done in 1 trip. :P

Unfortunately, that is the case. Apparently they changed the rules a wee while back. We are supposed to allow at least 5 working days between medical and interview. I'm in the same boat, don't want to make 2 trips to London, will have to stay a whole week. It totally sucks! Like we don't have any doctors who could be trusted to do this in NI or Scotland! So, I'm not going to make my medical appointment until I know my interview date.

We either do it this way, or have another wait post interview whilst embassy await medical results from doctor....wait for them to confirm this....wait longer for visa to be issued (cos you so know you'd probably have to chase it up yourself).

That mess up with NVC sending your case to Dublin by mistake did set you back a couple of weeks.

Megger - that honeymoon hideaway is awesome!

WOW. Were we separated at birth? I already have 2 dogs who are coming over with me. My USC has 2 dogs. We are also house hunting for a property with lots of land for them (and probably more from the shelters). I'm gonna end up with a bigger pack than Cesar Millan if someone doesn't put a stop me!

How is everyone getting on with thei doggy move? Honey now has her shiny new blue pet passport (matches Russ' USC one) haha! Yay! Oh and all three of us are booked for 31st May! Can't wait!!!!! :star:

Hey Rachel

You are so nearly there! You must be so excited...but also stressed about how Honey is gonna take the journey. I know I am. I was disappointed no one replied to your post about experiences of pet arrivals at Newark.

I ended up using a US pet relocator. I know PBS has a wonderful reputation, even the US company I am using confirms this. I actually emailed PBS, used the email contact on their site info@... - and got no reply! Anyway, the US company is equally as good, but due to the drop in the exchange rate recently (and going to worsen because of our looming election), it's more expensive. But in the grand scheme of things, I am past caring.

I am also using Continental, best reputation for pets, as you found out all those months ago. My dogs will also be passing through Newark, then connecting flight to Charlotte. My pet relocator tells me there is an animal reception area in Newark for transit animals, where they will take the dogs out of their crates into kennels with experienced staff who look after them. But if there is less than a 2 hour wait for connecting flight, they just stay in their crates. I guess you just want to know how quickly you can get to Honey when you get through immigration and where to find her etc!

Do let me know how it all goes and how Honey was when she arrives. This is the only bit of the whole process I can't stand the thought of! Am sure you're the same.

love
Christine x
ps - read about Russ's boss. Nasty, nasty. If I open any dog business in South Carolina, I'll head hunt him to work for me. Can have as many holidays as he likes.

Hi Frosty Mist, congrats again on your successful interview! Mine is Monday uhhhhhh! Can't wait til this is all over. I didn't know you were planning on taking over your animals to the US? You may have seen on here already that everythings in full swing in taking my Honey (a labrador) over to the states, fingers crossed on 27th April... What breed of dog do you have?

Im sorry to hear about your doggy. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it is not recommended to transport a dog overseas over the age of 7. Im not sure if the airline will refuse them but see what your vet says. It may be too much for her... :(

I don't know about downloading forms off the internet either I'm afraid. We are going with pet shipping company, PBS Freight International, who have been fantastic. Maybe if your budget cant stretch that far (but in my opinion its WELL worth it!) then just email them for some advice. Have you already had a quotation from the airline on a price to fly anyway? Why dont you ask for a quotation from PBS to see if its much more?

We already have Honeys crate and it was included in the quotation from them. It also came with all of the live animal labels. We'll also be recieving her Pet Passport soon so that will be another thing sorted and all other documentation, PBS will send us nearer the time.

Good luck! It is incredibly stressful transporting animals but we seem to be getting there with the planning step by step. B)

Hi Rachel & FrostyMist

With regard to the age thing - one of my dogs is 12 and I discussed this with my vet last week when both my dogs were getting their rabies shot. He said it's not about age at all, purely about the health of the animal. He said my 12 year old is fit as a butchers dog, strong as an ox, no heart problems etc and as he is such a chilled out dog, the flight would not cause any problems and he would pass the fitness to fly exam before flight. My other dog is 7 and there is more concern about him coping with the flight only because he has an an anxious disposition and recommended a new natural product called Zylikene which is highly effective in reducing symptoms of anxiety and stress. It's not a sedative and therefore is allowed to be administered pre-flight.

The whole animal thing is the biggest stress for all of us. I'm actually thinking about finding out the price of chartering a private plane to do it. I am not joking! Anyone got any idea whether what ball park price we are talking? (if Paris Hilton or the likes of her on this site perhaps they can advise? lol!) If I can get one for £10k, I'm doing it and I'll take all yours on board for free. But it's more likely to be way more than that...but am gonna try and find out!

QUOTE (RUSSandRACHEL @ Nov 25 2009, 05:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Thanks BadWolfProphecy!!!

Its good to hear everyones success stories! We're taking our labrador, Honey with us next year and everyones face just falls when we tell them, like we're doing the worst thing in the world to her. rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif People dont realise that pets travel all the time.

Well, our latest update is...

Be warned of the pet shipping company Pet Air UK everyone. I thought they were really nice at first, with all the sales speil and everything, and they always answered my queries promptly and helpfully. The responses to my emails changed tone eventually and I started to get the feeliing, they were not really interested anymore and this was around the time when we were about to pay them our deposit. So, my last query was more than 2 weeks ago and they still havent got back to me!!!! Hence, we have now gone with PBS - their website is www.shipyourpet.com. Emma who has been dealing with us has been fantastic and Honey's crate was delivered yesterday evening.

Its a bit scary though, it seems so real now!! Especially looking at the Live Animal Stickers that came with it. But I know she'll be in good hands. My fiance Russ also happened to meet someone who used to work for Continental the other day (who we'll be flying with) and she assured us that Continental really do take care of the animals they transport. They are the only airline with temperature controlled areas and she urged us to insist that the airline staff check that she has boarded and is ok. Apparently they are happy to do that.

Good luck everyone!! We have a provisional date to fly as 27th April (pending my interview though) Can't wait!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

Hey Russ & Rachel

So glad I've found this - I have been speaking to the very Pet Air UK, Jackie L'Anson, to be exact, and am now heeding your warning!
I'm a good bit behind you, just waiting for my NOA2, but the thought of moving my dogs is way more stressful than this visa process. I've also been talking to Matt Kincaid from PetRelocation.com - heard good stuff about that company but he quoted me around $7000 to fly 2 dogs, shocking I know, but if that's what it costs, I'd pay it, but am at the early stages of researching it all! What is the quote from shipyourpet?

Nice to hear you good dog owners out there, a "dog is for life, not just for Christmas" folks! Love me, love my dog, and no, we're not dumping the pooch just cos we're moving! Some bloke on here read a post of mine and said "it would be far cheaper to drive somewhere your dogs do not know and let them out the car and drive like hell away" (it's astonishing anyone has agreed to marry him!)

Getting advice from you and BadWolfProphecy all good and am grateful.

Big Honey is not the only big dog going then! - I have Big Bruno, 40kg cross great dane/rottweiler (gentle giant) and mad Ozzy, cross ginger collie.

And you two, lovely looking couple, been reading all your posts, riding high on your excitement. And Honey's not bad looking either!

love and licks (as they say at the Dogs Trust)

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionevidence of support sample?

If your US fiance's income is comfortably above the poverty line for household size, there is no need to submit anything from the bank or any proof of assets. Your assets won't be counted now, but they can be counted once you are married, for the adjustment of status.

His income is above the level. I'll tell him the good news (he will be smug he's proved his little (pointless!) point! Thanks so much Penguin ie. You're like Batman on here, seen you swoop down many times to the aid of posters. Much appreciated x

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionevidence of support sample?

The USC has to accomplish Form I-134 for K1 affidavit of support and attach supporting documents (bank statements, letter of employment, pay stubs, etc.). The I-864 is for the AOS.

Hi

I also have a few queries on this subject so didn't want to post an identical post, apologies if I am highjacking this one, but it is the same topic.

Thanks penguin ie and calypso - hoping you guys would be able to clarify my questions:-

We are also in the process of putting everything together with the I-134. We have letter from employer, pay stubs, 3 years of tax returns - my query is, are bank statements absolutely necessary? I've read somewhere else on VJ that a letter from the bank stating how long account has been open and how much is deposited each month can be submitted as an alternative to bank statements. Is this true?
My fiance would prefer not to give his bank statements (he's not trying to hide anything, he doesn't understand what purpose they serve as confirmation of his salary etc is proved in other documents).
Also, as the beneficiary of the K1, my assets are not taken into account, but I want them to be! Can I submit evidence of how much capital I am bringing to the States for the purpose of buying our marital home (due to the sale of my home in the UK)?

Huge thanks for your time.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat does the petitioner need to do / get from ‘packet 3’?

Also, I think I know what we are to SEND in after packet three based on reading this.... http://london.usemba...processing.html

The things that actually get mailed to the embassy are these, right?

1. IV -15K (checklist)
2. DS-230-I Part 1
3. DS-156 (2 copies)(fill out online to generate barcode then print)
4. DS-156K (2 copies)
5. DS-157 (2 copies)

Does this look right to you guys??
And does anyone know where I can find the DS-157 form (or what it is for that matter!)?

And the other stuff is not to be sent but just brought in at the time of the interview...I think?
-police certificate
-birth certificate
-I-134 (affidavit of support and evidence)
-photos

Thanks do much for all the advice and information you guys have provided here on VJ, we wouldn't have gotten this far without you all!

Hey!

You got it all right.
The DS-157 is just another supplementary info about beneficiary - previous employments, list of all educational establishments, any military service.

The link to download all the forms is here

http://www.usembassy...a/iv/iv_15.html

I just noticed your petition was sent to NVC same day as mine. I just got off phone to NVC and they informed me my case was sent to London last Wednesday 3 March, so hopefully, yours was in the same batch as mine.

I can't imagine what it must be like doing any of this without the info on VJ, and for the marvellous comradary along the way!
doghandlerFemaleUnited Kingdom2010-03-08 12:25:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat does the petitioner need to do / get from ‘packet 3’?

What is the difference between the 'I-864' (mentioned on the UK Embassy page - in the 3rd point from the bottom) & the 'I-134' (that you folks have mentioned)?

I don't want the 'good lady' to have to fill out forms needlessly. :)

No, never a good idea to have the good lady to anything needlessly!

She just needs to do the I-134. The I-846 is not required for K1 petition at this stage, but the good lady will have to do it at AOS stage.

On another subject - Have you worked out how to track when embassy gets case from NVC and sends out packet 3? If so, do spill the beans! I've just asked it on another thread as I've got confused about it and am on a tight schedule to get an interview date.
doghandlerFemaleUnited Kingdom2010-03-04 16:10:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat does the petitioner need to do / get from ‘packet 3’?

Yeah, this financial stuff sure is a pain.
From what I've read, I don't think you need three years of certified tax transcripts at this stage (that's for AOS), but I read a thread yesterday that said you DEFINITELY need at least the most recent years taxes if you're interviewing in London. Also, I just want to make clear that W2's are the annual statements you get from your employer that list the year's pay and tax withheld; they're not actually the tax transcripts, but it might be a good idea to have them accompany the tax transcripts.
Here's what I put together last night; I'm hoping it will be enough:
- I-134 form
- supplementary letter with answers to questions that didn't fit in the blanks (e.g. employer name) and listing of financial info, and stating that co-sponsor info is included if needed (I've only been at my job since Sept, but earn enough to be "over the limit")
- two originals of employer letter
- three most recent paystubs (printed from online)
- two originals of bank letter
- three most recent monthly bank statements (printed from online)
- copy of 2009 tax return, with W2
- I-134 filled by my dad
- two original letters from my dad's employer

Good luck, and hope that the NOA2 is here soon so you can focus on this nonsense

Thanks megs for clarifying the tax stuff. My USC hasn't a clue about it, leaves me to do the fact finding, I wasn't sure what the difference was between a W2 and tax transcript! (who would want to if we didn't have to? LOL). OK - so a W2 is UK equivalent of a P60 by the sounds of things. I understand now.

VJ super guru member Penguin ie informed me yesterday, that bank statements are not necessarily required if petitioner's income is comfortably above that poverty line.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat does the petitioner need to do / get from ‘packet 3’?

I haven’t got NOA2 yet… [no further comment] but I’m trying to get all the stuff brought together so that it can go out immediately after it’s received.

The 2 things that I know of for definite are: a more recent affidavit of support & the petitioners financial information .

Is there anything else?

Also, what information is required for the financial information piece? Just a letter from the bank / place of work… and what else?

I have requested my Police certificate, long birth certificate is to be collected tomorrow & need some more passport photos. All the other stuff like phone bills, boarding passes, photos, etc are sorted so I think I’m good this end. And as I filled out all the initial forms I just have to reprint them. :)

Preperation is everything [i think]. :D

Hi

To accompany the Affidavit of Support form, the USC needs to send you:
Letter from her employer stating salary and how long they have worked there
A few recent pay stubs
Tax transcripts for last 3 years (ideally 3 years to be on the safe side). Call IRS and ask for copies of the W2's (that's the transcripts).
Bank statements

The only other thing you need is updated letters of intent from both of you. That's the letters which you submitted with your original petition, where you stated your intention to get married within the 90 day period. You both just need to reprint and sign the letters and put a date near the interview date.

That's about it!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionFrom N.Ireland (UK) and have a Dublin Embassy case number from NVC...

Just called them back and spoke with someone else...

Dublin is indeed correct (by her as well). Apparently they assigned me to Dublin as it would be easier for me to get to. :D

Is this the first time this has happened? Could they be applying common sense for once? Have they just realised they do have facilities in other parts of the UK? When did they start caring about "what is easier for us"? What is going on?

I want to go to the Edinburgh consulate for interview instead of London as it is across the street from my house!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNew Electronic Visa form

I was confused about this one too.. the K1 visa process seems really bizzare, at some stages it is treated as a non-immigrant visa and others an immigrant visa..

The london website says "Nonimmigrant visa applicants applying for a visa are required to complete the new DS-160."

However, the table of non-immigrant visas does not include the K1.. so i would assume the london embasyy are treating the K1 as an immigrant visa, even though it is not really.. Its all very confusing.

I recently sent P3 and did not include the DS160.

Ditto nickm. I also recently sent P3 and did not include the DS160.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionbig screw up?

Hi,

I think I have made a bit of a boo boo. When you send back the checklist, are you also meant to send back forms DS230 etc? Or are these meant to be taken with you on the day of interview?

I fear I may have misunderstood the instructions not to mail back documents, and neglected to send back anything aside from the checklist.

If this is the case should I just fill out the forms, and send everything back with a new version of the checklist?

Cheers,

Arch

Yes, you are supposed to send back all the forms with the checklist. When they say not to mail back documents, they mean documents they want you to bring to the interview like police certificate, affidavit of support, passport, birth certificate etc.

So, yes, send the forms in now!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhat is required at what point during the interview

hmmm not sure i have tax transcripts, or if they will be relevant as my other half has just changed jobs.

Good news on the photos tho, beats shelling out £25 which i ended up paying last time for 4!

Yes, but there was a VJ post very recently that the photo machine in the embassy was out of order the day they were there. So that option is not risk free!

Get your other half to call IRS and order her tax transcipts for last couple of years. They are free and take about 3 weeks to arrive. (Changing jobs is irrelevant).

And, didn't someone also recently report the coffee bar was no more? That was the most shocking thing I've read on VJ this week!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionThe Medical K1 - Please Help

So am I right in saying that for this point of view they will not have view of my medical records. Like I said its not something that they would understand it is not recognised in the UK as a condition. Now that I have it sorted there is no problem but if there is any GP doctor involvement this could be a real problem.

It effectively a learned behaviour, in fact I had a counsellor that helped me through it (its basically stuff to do with my past). So if i tick the box NO we just move on and we are done?

Doghandler, thank you very much for your help on this it is much appreciated.

To reassure you, they give you a form to complete when you arrive, it is pretty much the same as the form you will have already completed and will have with you which can be viewed here:

http://www.usembassy...ical_letter.pdf

If you tick no to any of the questions, you are done. They do not ask for your GP's name or address and they do not have view of any of your medical records.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionThe Medical K1 - Please Help

Dear all,

I have something in regards to the medical exam in London that i desperately need help with. Basically over the past 5 years i have had a couple small bounds of depression, well what the doctor describes as depression this sits on medical history as this. However, it turned out to be something else and I have now dealt with it - but as it is not recognised by the doctors and a medical condition in the UK they put down depression. Therefore when i get asked do i suffer from depression i want to say NO because it turned out to be something else which has now been dealt with. Now I really dont want to open myself up for scrutiny so therefore if i put NO will they have sight of my medical records at some point which could mean all sorts of problems? Or do they have authority to get them?

Please help, I know this is a little weird but I would prefer not to explain exactly what i dealt with.

If the answer to the depression question is no, then answer no on the form they give you. If you disclosed your condition, whatever it is, at the medical they may ask you to have a psychiatric evaluation from doctor who treated you for any specific mental health problem to ensure whatever you suffered from has now been treated and you do not pose a risk to yourself or others. They don't ask to see your medical records.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPACKET 3 - London!! Please Help

Hello everybody,

This is only my second time of posting, and was wondering if anyone could help.

I received the rather unexciting packet 3 from London (K-1 visa) (by unexciting i mean just a sheet with a couple of websites on it), and I have now been through the forms and almost finished and would ideally like to send this out today. I just have a couple of questions:

1. The DS-156 (not the DS-156k i understand that you do not sign that) but do you sign the DS-156? I am assuming that you do - there are no instructions not to sign it.

2. Do I send any passport photos (US style) with packet three, again it does not say anything about sending them but there are a couple of spots on the forms that require them or are they attached on the day of the interview?

3. IV15 and checklist - Just a quick one on this. The checklist has a tick box exercise on the front however not everything is relevant to me i.e. military records, notorized statement so therefore I just leave them blank i assume. Also on the second page I do not have an intended date of travel nor do i have a wedding date due to the fact that I have no idea when and if the visa will be granted. Do i just detail - 'to be arranged with visa authorisation'?

I find that I get so stressed about filling out a form but due to the importance, all common sense goes out the window!!!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you members of VJ.

Hi
1. DS-230 - Sign page 2. Throw away p.3-4 if you are a K1. Those pages are for totally different visa applicant.

DS-156 - Electronic online form. Print and sign.

DS-157 - No signature line on this form, so you can't sign it.

DS-156 - This form has an oath if you read it. You will hold up you hand in front of the officer and swear the truth in front of him and he witnesses you signature.

2. You don't have to attach the passport photos, I did, but not everyone does, but you have to bring the photos with you to the embassy on the day you attend.

3. The checklist - tick the boxes which apply to you and leave blank the ones which don't. They allocate interview dates on the basis of your intended travel date. If you leave that blank, you may have a long wait for an interview date.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsQuestion for November Filers - Vermont Center

Well said DogHandler, I like the 24-hr service staffed by ex-cult members of Nov09VJers... Hey, when you got through to NVC, what did they say about your status???

HandA

they told me my petition was received on 1 March and they sent it on to Embassy on 3 March. They also said I was finished with them and helpfully gave me the numbers for my embassy and Dept of State. They don't mess around, like our old friends at VSC. I think Monday is their worst day for getting through on the phone. Keep trying and good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsQuestion for November Filers - Vermont Center

There is a nice November 2009 VSC theread on the Forum and a very supportive vitual family evolved (or has been created, if you wish) from the abbys of VSC's turbulant behavior. Join that family and you will be so happy to hear from old veterans like Mrs DogHandler and others that will help you go through this journey. I can't even find enough words to decribe the closeness and the relationship that prevailed within that virtual family while waiting for that elusive NOA2. On the positive side, all this will pass and good times are not far off. Keep you heads up!!! (doggon it, only if I could just get through to that NVC hotline to check my NOA2 status!!!! :crying: )

HandA

What the very lovely HandA says is true.
VSC is a highly dangerous organisation, it's a bit like a cult, you think it's harmless when you join up, but the mental anguish of inflicted by VSC on its cult members is no joke. As a result, a support group has been set up. It is called Survivors of VSC and can be contacted on the thread HandA advises. It's a 24 hour service, staffed by ex-cult members who are always on hand to help and advise and who campaign for all November 09 filers to be freed from the virtual jail of VSC. All newcomers welcome!

And HandA - I just got through to NVC half an hour ago! Get on the phone again! They are taking calls!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHelp please, Fiancee not allowed to board flight

Congratulations. My wife scolded me for "wasting money" on flying her over Business Class--a surprise I sprang on her at the last minute, thinking she'd be thrilled. She arrived in a bad mood.

Lorenzoid - your wife totally rocks! That's hilarious!

Kab - you did the right thing. I can't imagine being in the frame of mind to start messing with transit visa applications either. Best avoided for an easier life. At the end of this visa nightmare thing, the only attitude to take is - it's ONLY money!

The other positive is, she will be first off the plane and therefore first in line at POE, so you'll have less of a wait for her at the airport. You are now in touching distance. So exciting.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVSC - Let My people go! (February Filers)
Oh how the title of your post made me laugh. Excellent.

Just want to say to you Jan/Feb people - you have the sympathies of all the ex-inmates of VSC who have gone before you. I was one of the people who started serving their sentence at VSC in Oct/Nov 09. We were in there for months! We so know how you all feel and just wanted to tell you all, yes, the wait in VSC is hell, but it's not a life sentence, although when you go in, you don't know how long your time is!

You will be released any day now! And like childbirth, the agony of the wait suddenly becomes a pain which is easily forgotten. And once out, the rest of the process goes really quick. You are at the worst bit.

Hang on in there guys. Your NOA2 is right around the corner, keep chalking off the days, and in the meantime, big hugs from the people who used to sleep in the bed you are now in! x

Of course! There was never any doubt of that! But you guys get the Nobel Prize for PATIENCE! 9 months. That's a pregnancy!

Congratulations! Enjoy the feeling! Now, get your woman over here and let the torture of applying for SSN, driving licences etc begin! She's got all of these joys (not!) to to look forward to! x
