Middle East and North AfricaReally Good news
Not much time but I wanted to post...Casa called Mo today and told him to come bring his passport. They wanted him there today, but they called at 12 and wanted him there at 1:30, not doable from Khemisset, so he will go Monday at 1:30. They didnt say specifically come get your visa, but why else have him bring his passport right???

Middle East and North Africacheck in time - who are you, hows it going and just saying hi thread
Hi! Im Cara married to Mohammed from Khemisset Morocco. He got here on Nov 8th of 08 and we were married on my sons birthday Nov 20 08. So far our adjustment has been surprisingly easy...I was terrified after reading some of the post here but so far no major hurdles. He is bored to death not being able to work but luckily the kids were out for Christmas break and there are always about 10 extra besides my 2 here so he is out with them all the time. Life is good.. great even!!!!

Middle East and North AfricaHas anyone ever been late filing the papers???
Mo's visa runs out on 020408. Intentions were to have his papers filed by that date obviously...then murphy and his law moved in...car wreck=car payment where before there was none, moved into a "better" house and deposits for everything ended up being about 500 more than expected...####### just life in general. Taxes will most likely not be back in time to make that deadline. I did get a 2nd job today part time 3rd shift so maybe that will get us half way there and inshallah taxes will make it here before, but if it doesnt what happens? What happens if its the 14th not the 4th??? Anyone ever encounter this problem before? Im freaking out here!

I have heard this same thing...there are a few stores here owned by an indian gentleman and he said Oh come Ill tell you how...but then he is never there when we come...the story we were told is that they will let you borrow 100,000.00 and give you 10 yrs to repay.....true??? Who knows. If anyone else finds out we're all ears here in Ga~!

Middle East and North AfricaJust a hi and an update
Hi everyone, I havent been on the site in a while and I see alot of new faces and some sad stories. Ill just suffice it to say I keep all of you in our prayers, praise for the good and prayers for the sad. Thought Id give an update on life here in Ga. Mo came in Nov of 08 and we were married that same month..its been a rollercoaster to say the least. At this point its safe to say I think we are levelling out and starting on "normal" life...as much as you can with my crazy moroccan man lol. I think the biggest shock for him was the fact of bills and money. Somehow in Morocco even when they were broke they had stuff...here he sees now I wasnt just whining lol no money=no anything. We are waiting for his work card and getting ready to buy a house. We've been doing a bit of traveling, Memphis, North Carolina, Atl, Iowa, Arkansas. And he loves to take pics to show his family back home. Id like to say thanks for all the support we got while going through this process. Maybe I can return the favor and help someone else since Im a veteran at it now!!!!

Middle East and North AfricaNeed your prayers please !!!
You are right to be more worried about the pnemonia, Elisha(my son) had H1N1 about 3 weeks ago and the doctor stressed strongly that it wasnt really the flu you had to worry about but the secondary infections because the flu makes them so ran down...keep forcing the liquids, and if you cant keep his fever down, I used Motrin, then in an hour Id follow with a dose of tylenol. They have liquid adult strength in both so it can get into his system quicker!!! Ya'll are in our prayers!!!

Hi Sharifah, Im Cara married to Mohammed who has been here since Nov of 08. We've been together since 05...looking back the road doesnt look that long lol. Kind of like child birth I guess!!! I havent been on the site in a while but thought Id come back around to see what was happening. We live in Dalton Ga, which used to be the carpet capitol of the world, but I think it is probably the unemployment capitol now. I work for Windstream Communications as a programmer.....soooo please people dont cut your landlines!!!! Feed your fellow VJ'rs lol!!! I have a 15 yr old daughter and an 11 year old son and we are discussing one more...not sure about the starting over. Oh well enough rambling from me! Welcome to VJ!!!

I drove through Georgia all the time when I used to drive to Florida. Don't care much for the State, but I always thought Dalton looked like a cool place. Are all those carpet factories out of business now?

The ones that arent completely gone under have scaled back. My kids dad lost his job at Shaw after 25 years.

Middle East and North AfricaVisitor visas for family..anyone with Moroccan SO's have any luck?
So Mohammed has been here over a year now..all is well he has a good job in the hospital here and we've settled into a good routine...the only not so good thing is how much he misses his family. He talks to them online of course, but the reality of American life, 2 busy teenagers, the 2 of us working opposite shifts just life in general makes his time with them short. We have discussed the possibility of his mom coming to visit..she doesnt work there but she owns their home and there is a new grandbaby there who she watches while his younger brother and wife work. She would need his sister who is 33 and not married to accompany her. Anyone have any luck with this type of thing? It would be an awesome Christmas gift for him this year....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresOnline case status?

You can register online yourself, u just need the receipt number in making a portfolio and the system will just ask you to fill datas. A touch means when the latest updated date on the portfolio section changes without a change on the message.

I didnt know that was possible... I went and made my portfolio on uscis........so touched means they actually looked at it??? I dont know if thats good or bad lol we filed on 010307 there was a touch on 011307 then nada since then... is that normal?????

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCalling Cards

well since i live here in New York, pretty much there are many many phone cards that give you about 1 hr caling time to the dominican republic, and they are only 2 dollars, Now i have over 100 of these aved, and since i was reading the guides i saw that it stated that it wil be good to show calling receipts or etc, but i used these ards because they are affordable and convenient, should i do something, send them, copy it send or what.... thanks

My lawyer didnt take these prepaid calling cards I had because I couldnt prove it was my fiance I was calling. We use yahoo voice now. For me to call Morocco it is about .25 and you buy the time in $10 increments. For my fiance to call me from there is only .01. The only problem being that whoever is doing the calling has to be at a pc. You can print out your call logs so that is a BIG plus.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow to get a waiver on clause 18 of form I-129F
The 1st time we filed(notice 1st time) I had a lwayer who told me yes we can file without having met, because I am a single working mom, at the time I was a store manager and my job didnt permit me more than 5 days off in a row as I was sole contact, and my ex didnt permit me to take my 2 minor children out of the country. Now here we are on our 2nd filing(notice 2nd!!!). It got rejected because we had not met in the 2 years beforehand. My advice is dont even try it. That is one of the conditions, and Ive not seen much evidence that it gets waived. Im sure there are extreme cases where it does, but I dont believe it is a common thing. I would advise not wasting the money to file w/o all conditions being met.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGot any ideas on this one?

Yeah, really. Take care of the kids you've got before you go trotting off to a foreign country to spend money on a new girlfriend. Maybe he'll have to learn PATIENCE and wait until he has enough money to pay the child support and then get a passport. I agree it's going to be difficult for the filipina to get to Canada. Or anywhere for that matter. It's just a tough place for a person to get a travel visa.

DUDE - PAY THE CHILD SUPPORT!!!!!!

Well, we all know he should pay off the child support first, but that wasn't the question was it? The the overdue child support was from many years ago, and due to a lot of financial problems over the years he just never was able to pay it off before. He's paying it down now but it's a large amount and it will probably take him like 2 or 3 years to finish paying it off. Do you think his GF will wait that long?

So, back to the original question. How can they meet?

Until Jan 1, 2008 US citizens can go to Mexico and Canada without a passport, right? Can a Philippine citizen get a tourist VISA to Mexico?

How about any other US territories? Puerto Rico?

Well... realistically if the GF wouldnt wait then what is the point of jumping through hoops to try to get to her? He isnt going to go over there and her get a visa the next day...is she going to wait that out?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust read!!!
Hi, first of all ya'll are in my prayers!!! I hope everything will be all right with him. There were some issues similar to this for us earlier this year and what Mo and I decided was to have Visa free time. Sometimes we get so worrried about the next step and what will happen that it seems like we lose sight of why we filed to start with which was to be together. So now even though of course we do discuss the visa we sometimes will go a week or so without saying have you heard anything or did you do so and so....the health situation has really improved! Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresChange of address for foreign fiance
My fiance has moved a bit down from where he did live. He was at 69 but now he is at 49 on his road. Our case is still pending at the CSC. My question is do I do an address change for him with the csc? I looked at the address change part on the uscis site, but it was asking stuff like when is the last time you entered the usa. His mail still gets to him, because I have misaddressed a couple of letters and the postman got it to him.....Im scared to rock the boat with the csc...what if I do it and they say oh yeah you have to start over....any advice?????

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProcessing Times/Costs
Personally I would suggest not getting a lawyer as well unless you have some major issues in your case....Ive paid my lawyer in excess of 2000 and we are waiting since Jan of this year. As long as you are careful, you can do everything they will do and save the money for trips to see your SO!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA Question of PROOF ....
Im not sure about the vietnam consulate, but my fiance went through Casablanca also a high fraud consulate and they did ask about the divorce, the dates the time frames my living arrangement...while there are questions they maybe should not ask I dont think anything is offlimits to them. I had an attorney..and he said alot of the same things Marc said to you. I have also heard of the homes of people being called....exhusband best friend answering your phone in a house your going to say only you live in at 4 am might not be good IMO.

USCIS Service CentersANY JANUARY FILERS LEFT FROM CSC
It finally updated for me, I dont know what the issue was. I called today and used the rfe selection. Instead of sending me to the national customer service it sent me to the California service center. This was a first for me. The guy was very friendly and stated that my case had been assigned to an officer and I should hear something soon. Maybe this is just their version of the brush off but for someone who has never heard anything more than a person reading from a script this was wonderful!! What do you think? Is this progress?

I got an email saying they had resent their inquiry because they hadnt heard anything either. Those dates should update again on Wed or Thurs and be in our time frame. I am upset...it is driving me batty, but Mohammed says this is our destiny and we must be patient. I used my patience the first month lol!!! My NOA1 was on Jan 03,2007 so I have a few days before I can do an inquiry.

As you can see Im playing the waiting game too. When I called in on the 5th they said in 20 days from that date I can make a "formal" inquiry about the case. The uscis processing times should update tomorrow and hopefully I will see some action then. I feel for you, make you feel like we are lost in a black hole huh?
