United KingdomCalling London to speed up interview

You're welcome just a heads up ,it isn't easy and probably unlikely to be able to speed up getting a interview date also.it pretty much is "wait your turn we will give you a date when we are good and ready "

United KingdomCalling London to speed up interview

It's pretty much impossible to speak to someone within the visa unit at the embassy.the only option is to email them using the contact form on the website .

United KingdomDelays with London Consulate

Avery Cates is right unfortunately, there is no way of speeding things up ,and pretty much impossible to speak to anyone on the phone, they have your paper work so it's just a case of waiting now.it's strange as recent ive seen them tell people different things, some get told to wait 4 weeks after they have received your forms to when they assign you a date ,others get told 5,6 and so on .

They told me to wait 5 weeks and they assigned my interview a couple of days short of that 5 weeks.if you say they have emailed you to confirm they have your paper work.keep that email in your inbox as its alot easier/quicker to get a response from them by replying to a email from them than going through the contact form .

When they inform you of your interview date is it by post or email?.I was under the impression it was by post, but I've read a few people say they received their date by email

I also heard they don't let you in earlier than a half hour before your appointment, is that still correct?

No from what I've can work out even if your interview wasn't till 11am and you were first in line at 7.30am they would let you in

Congratulations on your interview date ,glad they manage to sort something out for you to get back to your pregnant fiance quicker

United KingdomSSN

Hi guys ,

Just wanted to thank all my fellow vjers who have been helpful throughout this whole process not to mention you all understood the stress of the wait .

I arrived in colarado springs on Saturday and life is good and I'm settling in just great :-) .getting ready for my family to come visit next Thursday and our wedding on November 23rd.

I'm planning on getting my SSN sometime soon.I was wondering what forms and documents do I need to take with me in order to get it ?

United KingdomShould I email about interview date?

On Monday I contacted the Embassy via the Contact Form regarding an interview date. Thursday afternoon I received an email back stating the day of our interview. Contacting the Embassy via the Contact Form does work.

I think they just pick and choose when and who they reply to ,they took around two weeks to reply to me when I first used the contact form but once I had a email from them and was able to just reply to the email they sent me ,they were pretty good with a quick reply .

Yea  nich-Nick is right by the time they get round to replying ,it is likely for you to have had your interview already.if like alot of other people myself included you have run out of patience at this stage you could always call department of state.they will be able to tell you if and when you have a interview

What's the form that they ask for while you're waiting to get into the Embassy that they say you need, but you really don't as a K-1?  Heard some K-1 people have been turned away because they didn't have it.

You won't need it ,I was abit panicked about not having it when the grumpy English lady was shouting at people for their ds-160/ds-260 can't remember what one as they have changed it so much, so I told her all I have is my interview letter and she said "yea that's fine"  and let me through

Congratulations to those who finally got there date

USCIS Service CentersCSC Processing times now showing at 5 months

It's like they completely switched roles ! Yes it is good news for me but I feel bad for you guys are Vermont  thinking they were keeping at the 5 month Mark now they at 7 .fingers crossed they pick up and they both at 5 months .you saw how quickly california did it.which makes it annoying in a way because it shows they can work alot quicker when they want to.I'm not getting my hopes up too much incase it changes again.as I said it is good news for California but it makes me angry how they make people wait.I'm one of the lucky ones I guess me and my fiance have only been apart a month as he was living in uk up til then and I can already see how it can be stressful so Lord knows how some of the other people feel who have already been waiting 7 months and up

It doesn't make sense does it ,if one of them can pick up speed to 5 months I'm more than sure both of them can??.although alot from California seem to be getting their noa2 before the 5 month Mark.although it's exciting.it makes me nervous how they seem to be jumping from one month to another

Typically speaking how long should we wait before we call about not receiving Rfe hard copy?.we got a notification on the uscis website June 5th.no text no email.plus I've heard most people get two notifications before they get hardcopy,we haven't had a second  notification yet.I don't know if to be concerned as I've seen other people with California and the same rfe date have their hardcopy already.is this reason to worry or an I being impatient?

So without reading through 30+ pages, what's the current turnaround time on Visas being delivered after the interview?

The average right now is around 7 days but some less some more ,like everything else during this process it's unpredictable.

I had my interview 22nd October and my ceac changed to issued 25th October,so I expect to have my visa in my hand sometime next week if that helps at all

Think in this particular case it is AP in the truest sense - they are literally administratively processing your approved visa!

Speaking of which, I got an email earlier saying my passport is with the courier and providing a tracking number - it's not actually of any real use to me though as I arranged to collect it rather than have it delivered, and all it says on the page when tracked is:

Delivery Status:

Booked for collection from collection point

It doesn't say when I can collect it. Assuming I will get another email tomorrow when it arrives at the depot?

You would think they would at least tell u when you can collect it ,even when you track something being delivered to you it has a expected delivery time and date ,I'm sure someone who opted for the pick up option will be able to help answer your question.

My case has now changed again from this morning ,now I'm in AP ,praying it's the good AP and not the bad one

Wow  how great for you that they are going out of your way for you, what number did you call? As no one seems to know where to phone if they need to speak with someone

Man, I'm so so grateful. Got in touch with the Embassy today, as after Tuesdays approval my case status still stated ready, and just explained to the woman on the phone that the officer who gave me my approval said he would go out of his way to make sure my visa is issued in time for my wedding next saturday, with my departing flight on Wednesday (I know, very hopeful?!).

I was asked to call back after 30 mins while the woman located my case and found out its status, when i called she said she was going to make sure it got processed today and to call back in an hour and half again and ask for her yet again and she would update me.

Called back, and in between that call my case became in administrative processing, and on the phone she checked with a member of staff next to her that it had just been issued, but as the courier was not guaranteed to deliver in time for Tuesday, I could go back to the US Embassy and collect my passport on Tuesday!

A little inconvenient having to go back to London, but damn, I do not mind for a second, I'll happily take that!!

Looks like I'll be getting married next week after all! Aaaaaaaand relax!

Still nothing guys...been in AP since August 6th...it was originally classified as a nonimmigrant visa, then changed to immigrant, and then just last Wednesday changed back to nonimmigrant and the case creation date changed to that day. But still in AP sad.png

I can't believe you're still waiting!!! I've been waiting pretty much the same time for a interview but I should think you are even more anxious than me ! What have the embassy  said to u ?

Actually I was just getting to sleep not long before you posted this smile.png

The verdict is (not unexpectedly of course) APPROVED!!!  She said it went amazingly smooth.  She arrived around 7:15 and said there was only a few people milling around sort of queued and then went in about 20 minutes later and was done, out of the embassy and messaging me by 9:08.  Of course with the news, I was to amped up to sleep.   I tried, but it took me a few hours.  I got about 4 hours sleep though, and funnily enough, I'm still so excited that I'm not really that tired.  I am sure I'll sleep MUCH better tonight.

Now for the fun process of waiting for that visa delivery.

Congratulations!! You almost there!!

United KingdomThings you need to do before leaving the UK

Another medical thought:

If you're the kind of person who keeps on top of this stuff, have any check-ups before you go, so that they are up to date and you're not due another for a spell. Saves worrying about that on top of everything else.

Eg: eye test; dentist; smear test if you're a lady.

Not a major concern but doesn't hurt to have a bit of an MOT here where it probably costs less to do so! Then you know you're set for another year/six months before you have to think about it again. I think I will aim to do this.

I was just going to suggest this also ,I recently brought forward my routinely eye test and dentist check even though I wasn't due for either  for a few months,I figured since I'd already been through the medical I may as well treat myself to the full works :-/ lol

United KingdomThings you need to do before leaving the UK

About phones ,my fiance pays like $40 per month and that includes international calling.it isn't a contract as such the money comes out of his account each month but he can basically leave at any time and don't have to stay with the network 18 months or whatever it is .I think some UK networks offer the same thing also .you probably have to buy your phone outright though (I don't know if contracts are the same in states where handsets are free on certain tariffs)  ,you can more than likely do this with a SIM only for those who said they are keeping their phones ,as someone had mentioned though your UK phones may not be able to be unlocked to carry an american SIM .my fiance tried to get his American BlackBerry unlocked when he was living in uk and he couldn't ,the guy who owned the phone shop he went to was American and Said most phones can't be converted, this was 3 years ago though ,so it might be different with newer handsets anyways my fiance is with t mobile ill ask him more about it and get back to u guys

United KingdomBefore you permanently move to the US

I'm really kicking myself for not thoroughly reading this topic earlier.

I arrived in the US two days ago, and it's suddenly dawned on me that I'm not sure it's what I wanted. Feels like there's no way back to the UK now.

Awww Laura!!! Maybe those feelings have just come from the stress of the visa process etc? I'm sure everyone finds the move abit daunting at first .hope all works out for u x
