K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril 2009 K-1 Filers
Well today is officially the end of three weeks since my NOA2 approval, and after 21 days NVC still says they have not received my case. At this point I guess I am going to have to consider that my case has been lost or I am actually in AP without a NVC case number. I actually believe the latter. It makes no sense that the majority of people have their cases received at NVC in about 2-10 days. The people say at NVC it can 2-4 weeks but also up to 90 days......90 days?????????????? I am wondering if there are any VJ members who have gone past 3 weeks for NVC to receive? This sux.

Well my NOA2 date is July 24th, but as of today still not showing up at NVC. Is this unusual or has my file been lost? Anybody else here with an NOA2 that NVC has not received yet? sad.gif

For those interested. I checked my case on the USCIS website about two times evey day for the past month. I had no touches at all before the approval. The touch was just that it was approved. Also i was set up for email alert and when I got to work today the email was there. Seems there is really no rhyme or reason to how they work as far as order, touches, emails etc.

but whats funny is that it goes the other way also...you would not believe the "warnings" my fiancee has received from family and friends about marrying a gringo! That is of course till they meet me!

What is everyone up to this weekend? I got to talk to my future MIL on the webcam today. I've met her in person a few times, and it was good to see her again. She met my daughter, as well, and my daughter is excited about having a British grandma and visiting England. She can't wait! Also, she asked to see my dress, which I was excited to do, after having made Ian leave the room.

Good days... straight ahead, people.

Well, I bought my airline ticket to see my fiancee again Sept 4- 13. Will be my 5th trip in one year...excited about that...and excited to see some more approvals and hear of touches. But...does kinda hurt to see two approvals on May filers. Have a great weekend everybody.

I don't see anywhere in my post where I feel I was "whining", I think like many people here going through this, that I have bad days where I hate this process. If you chose to enjoy this "game" then good for you. I don't. If this process takes 1 year for my SO to be with me then I see this as 1 year of my life that I will not have spent with her. I asked a very simple question "how do others deal with the pain and the loneliness of not being with your love?" I feel a man purpose of this website is to support each other when we have bad days and issues pop up, not to "bash" on people.

Mav, I was completely tongue-in-cheek, hence the smiley wink at the end. No one enjoys waiting. I think I posted in the last 20-30 posts that this is time that we cannot regain. I was certainly not trying to bash you, just coping with it with a little humor.

BTW, found out that my trip to see my girls cannot happen for at least another month. crying.gif

I think usagroom was just kidding....if you look back on the thread, we've all had break-down days where all we can do is talk about how much we miss our fiance's and how this process feels like it will NEVER end (I've had maybe more than my fair share whistling.gif ) usagroom had a "whining" day (which was completely understandable and justified) a few days ago too. We've all got them. As far as your question goes, I don't think I do cope with it. You just wake up everyday and breathe in and out and time somehow keeps passing--albeit very, very, very slowly. People always tell me "in 40 years, it won't even matter anymore" and I always think "yeah, but it could have been 41 years." I know what you're saying, I just don't think there's an easy answer to your question. rose.gif

"yeah, but it could have been 41 years." EXACTLY! every day is precious...it just kills me inside to be thinking about what she and I could be doing RIGHT NOW. "sigh"

I am feeling really down the past two days, and I have to vent....this process is cruel! It is bad enough to be away from the one you love...but then I have to suffer more by watching happy couples walking around my apartment complex each evening, holding hands ets.....and I feel so alone. It feels like my life and my love is "on hold". I tend to be a worrier by nature and the time spent waiting just allows my mind to wander onto what all can go wrong. And then to read about some peoples dreams shattered here on VJ by being denied...it scares me to death. How are all of you dealing with this?

Ours too will be a small intimate ceremony to be held at a wedding chapel in Gatlinburg Tennessee follwed by our honeymoon in a chalet in the Great Smoky Mountains. I am a whitewater kayaker and one of my paddling friends is an ordained minister who will do the ceremony, another is a photographer and two others play in a progressive bluegrass band that will be our entertainers at the reception. My mother and sister are doing the planning of the wedding and are quite excited about it. Really hoping our wedding can be right around New Years Day.

For me the hardest part now is that the weather is so nice now. There are sooooooooooooooooooo many things I can think of that my SO and I could be doing together...it seems like wasted time. Anybody else feel the same way? I also think that if her visa is approved in November or December....which is when I realistically expect it...she will be arriving in the winter here. Quite a shock to her I am sure, and personally I HATE winter.

Just chatting with my SO and found out the address she put on the G325 and what I used as her address on the I129F is where she actually lives..BUT mail is not delivered there..it goes to a place in the city she lives in where she goes to pick it up, which is a different address. She told me only wealthy people have mail boxes at their houses where it is delivered...cuz they have to pay for that. So my problem is she would never receive her packet 3 from the Embassy, as it would never be delivered to her actual address. Obviously I need to get this information to CSC for our case file. Is this a call..a letter...do you think this will delay it..although I am fairly sure it is not being worked on yet. Thoughts?

You can call and do an address change. It will make no difference in processing your petition. Her mailing address is not so important until the petition gets to the embassy and even then it is of little importance. The consulate will send her "packet 3" all of which can be downloaded. We never recieved packet 3 due to the good Ukrainian mail system. Made no difference, I had downloaded and completed the forms months before they sent the package.

It is but a small problem, don't worry

Thank you also! Man, this website is awesome smile.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of ongoing relationship question
I am betting this has been discussed before, but if not , here is my question... what are thoughts about using Moneygram receipts as proof of ongoing relationship? I do not support my fiancee, she has a job and works darn hard at it. She has asked me for money on only two occasions in our 1 year and three month relationship, and she only asked because she was broke at the moment and needed money one time for a dentist visit and the other to get her annual pap smear. Both times a trivial amount of 50$ I know how this could be viewed by a CO. Either that it is proof of ongoing relationship and that I do love and care for her or mistakenly think she is looking for a meal ticket. I think it is good evidence, as it is a receipt with a date and both of our names. Dicey though...thoughts????

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence of relationship and sincerity
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has used a personal letter from a family member as evidence of an ongoing relationship and as a vouch for the the sincerity of the beneficiery in the interview? I would have to believe this has been done before, but I am wondering if anybody has done and if the CO actually read it? This is the letter my mother wrote for me and I am also including several copies of email correspondence between my fiancee and my parents.

Honorable consular officer,
My name is Gxxxxx Jones and I am the mother of William Jones. I am writing this letter to show my support for me son’s fiancée Irazema Rodriguez and their impending marriage. Both myself and William’s father Bxxxxxx have been corresponding with Irazema through email and telephone beginning in December of 2008. We both believe Irazema truly loves our son and wishes to marry him and start a family. Through our correspondence we have found Irazema to be a wonderful, sincere, thoughtful and mature woman. We have told her that we have not seen our son be this happy in many years. Likewise we can see the love and happiness she also has for him. We are anxiously awaiting meeting our future daughter in law and hope that you will grant her her visa. I you wish to talk with us directly , we would be quite happy with that. Our telephone number is 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx.
Kind regards,

Gxxxx and Bxxxxx Jones

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespast denial an issue?
Well, this is something I have been worrying over for awhile. When I fist met my fiancee I asked her if she had ever been to the US. She said no, but that 5 years ago she had applied for a work visa? for Au Pair. She was studying in the Universiaty at that time and was learning English and thought it would be a good way to work and learn English at the same time. She said when she first went to the Embassy the CO interviewed her and said everything was ok but that she needed a new visa photo because her ears were not showing. She came back later with a new photo but a different CO asked her a few questions and then said no. She said the CO only gave her a piece of paper that said they were not convinced. Anyways, will this affect her K-1 visa. I have read other topics here that says it will not if a person has been denied a tourist visa...I assume she applied for a work visa. Does the Emabssy have a record of that? On the DS156 they ask if you have ever been denied a visa. I would guess she should just answer honestly. What are options if she is denied? Do you have to get your Senator involved? Man, I am going crazy worrying about this.

Since I have nothing else to do while waiting for the NOA2, I started to assemble a binder of information for my fiancee to present at her interview at the Embassy. This is when I realized that the emails between myself and my fiancee, and between my fiancee and my parents and sister,I used as supporting evidence of our relationship has her email user name which is a nickname I have for her but also she added MY last name to it. An example "Cutiepie Jones". I am worried now that they will notice this and think we are already married. Obviously I will edit that out of the information that she will show at the interview but I can do nothing about what is in the application now at CSC. Am I overreacting here??????????????

No worries. They aren't gpoing to think you presenting someone else's emails! Everything is taken as a "body of evidence", the emails are combined with everything else and considered.

You are over-reacting, yes.

Well actually my fear with this was that they might assume that we are already married since she used my last name as her email user name, and think we were trying to bypass the K3 for the (sometimes) quicker K1. But agree with everybody here that it should not be an issue. I'm betting I will know within 2 months!

Thanks for the responses, even though I knew that I would get blasted for worrying about these things. Unfortuantely this a part of my personality I seem to have inherited from my mother. I would have to assume that if they noticed it they would understand that she did that just because of the excitement of getting married and being in love. But at the same time I do not underestimate the importance and attention to detail that the USCIS/NVC and CO's put into checking out these petitions. well....until my next panic attack...THANKS!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed thoughts on proof of relationship for interview
Hello all...for the record I absolutely WILL be at the interview with my SO...I had made that decision long before I found this website. I agree though that for some it might be very difficult to be at the interview. Unfortunately the Panama Embassy portal here is of little use as far as info...only about 4-5 people who posted about their experience. One stated the SO was quized verbally for 20 minutes. The thing I was wondering from my post is how many people here feel it is necessary to overwhelm the CO with thousands of emails and chats. Personally I doubt they would take the time to read more than a few..if that. I think one of the things I did that will work well is I copied the pages of my yahoo inbox, which shows currently 6 pages of emails from nobody and nothing but my SO...these spanning from July last year to present. Also my fiancee and I have created special little electronic "gifts" for each other using Powerpoint and word...and I have included copies of those and of e-cards we have sent each other.

So far I have included in it: sworn affidavit from my mother of the relationship formed between her and my fiancee, emails between my parents/fiancee and sister/fiancee. 30 photos from 4 trips to visit her in the last year, about 20 selected emails out of over 3,000 between my fiancee and I (I picked very personal ones showing our feelings for each other and spanning the timeframe of the realtionship), I also included copies of my yahoo email inbox showing page after page of emails from her, copies of chats between she and I and some between her and my 9 year old daughter and 13 year old son. All my original documents of proof of my visits to be with her (passport stamps, boarding passes, hotel receipts etc). And finally about 20 used international phone cards (before I realized i would need these I threw away around 100), I have also called the phone card company and they are supposed to send me a log of where the calls on a couple of the cards went.
Ok, my questions: 30 photos enough? 20 used phone cards? 20 emails? how many chats? This binder can't hold much more!
But my most important question...my fiancee and I met while I was separated and going through a dissolution from my first wife. I of couse had to wait for the final divorce to submit the 129F. I am pretty sure my fiancee will be questioned about this. For the record, my fiancee knew about my situation from the beginning and my ex-wife also knew...she is/was very happy that I had met someone special. She and I continue to be good friends today. I am going to include in the presentation a letter to the CO explaining how we met, our relationship timeline etc. Should I just go ahead and explain that situation in the letter, or let the CO just question my fiancee about it? Sorry this was so long. Appreciate any thoughts.

Personally, I don't think it's a problem at all. I went for the interview and I told the interviewer that we met online.. he was very nice and kind and he's like, oh tons of people met that way. Then, he asked how many times we've met, etc... it's pretty interesting and all he wants to know is how genuine the relationship is after knowing each other the first time. that's all that matters smile.gif

Good luck!

I agree, I don't think that it is that big of a deal today. Even if it is through an "international dating service". I do think though that the benficiery needs to be ready to answer a question about why he/she wanted to meet an American that way. In my situation I have told my fiancee just to tell the truth...which for her is that she wanted to meet a more mature and FAITHFUL man than her past boyfriends.

Do you think the interviewer will try to force us to prove
that we didn't pay money just because we did in fact meet
online, or are they willing to listen to reason?

Also, we are going to admit that we were both married to other
people when we met. I know that is quite common and shouldn't
be an issue, but my better half was a little apprehensive on that point.

Thanks in advance for any reply. good.gif

Where did you hear that they will go for the jugular for meeting on-line? I have never heard that. I am willing to bet that 89% of the people who file for K1 met that way.

You're probably right, but it's good for people like us (new to VJ) to get confirmation of that.
I just had a nagging suspicion that if we couldn't prove exactly how/when we met online
they might assume it was an international marriage broker. Glad to hear they are not like that.

=>>We have more than enough proof of an ongoing relationship over years.

My fiancee and I met online through an international dating site, I paid for a 1 month trial membership. So of course I answered yes to the IMB question. The only reason that is asked is because there have been women who have been abused through meeting that way. As far as how the CO looks at that, I really dont think they care. Truthfully it is no different than meeting an American woman through Match, Eharmony etc. Actually for me it is the preferred way as you can email for a good length of time and then decide if you want to travel to meet the person. I do agree though that it does look suspicious to have met online, met maybe once in person and then deciding to get married. For me it kills me to be away from my SO and I have made 5 trips now in the past year to be with her, but also I have the proof of all those trips. Another thing I have done is saved email communication between my fiancee and my parents and sister as further proof of our relationship.

I've heard various reports about interviewers going for
the jugular when they hear the couple met online.
We don't rightly know how much weight to give that.

Our story is true, but doesn't really fit into
the scenarios they they are used to hearing.

In 2003 we were both members of an MSN "interest group" that
roughly fits under the heading of married people wanting to socialize.
Although neither of us was active in the group except for meeting
each other (I got her ID from the members list and chatted her up
and never contacted any other member except for her, end of story).
We both de-listed from that group very soon after meeting.
I'm not even sure exactly what the name of that group was
and I tried googling it recently but came up empty.

Neither of us ever paid money for meeting.

We have a great long-term relationship based on trust and lust
and always have been focused on our goal which is to bring her
to New York. We are very close to the point where we can submit
the I-129F (waiting for court action which is imminent) and we're
sure to have enough visual and written "documentation" to make
the process be completed successfully.

Do you think the interviewer will try to force us to prove
that we didn't pay money just because we did in fact meet

Some consulates can be pretty far behind the times. Even if you're high-tech in your communications, make sure to have at least a few postal letters (birthday cards, etc.) sent to and from each of you.

not always possible...decided to snail mail my fiancee a romantic card with a picture we had taken at a circus in Panama City my last visit. 1 & 1/2 months later...she never received it. Talked with another VJ member who's SO lives in the same city in Panama...same for him. It will have to be all "electronic"
