If you have to by yourself go with capital one. They can get you a low limit card without a credit history. Just do not make any late payments lol.

I applied for this card a month or two after i arrived I have a good score here, not so good back in canada lol

CanadaOnly 3 more sleeps.....

There is a similar board called Road to Canada www.roadtocanada.com but it is a pretty slow board compared to VJ. There are some very helpful people on there though.

We have not actually started the process. Canada allows your spouse to stay with you while are are going through the process, so we will apply once we arrive. From what I understand the paperwork is a bit more work at the very beginning, but you send everything in all at once and then you wait for approval. Not like the US where you have several stages. You do the police check and medical right at the beginning and send that in with your sponsorship application and PR application. Currently it seems it is taking about 8-9 months for everything to be completed for a straight forward case.

I will definitely be back and keep you all updated on the process!

Let us know How the POE is for your husband,,, We are thinking of starting it here so he can work the moment we get but if something happened and we wanted to move back asap it would nice to know what happens at the poe.

Good luck, I cannot wait to start out journey back in 1.5 years :) If not less depending on how quick citizen is and how quick immigration takes

Not sure if u can do it with a debit card---but i have my Credit card set up that I get an email every time I use it! And its pretty much instantaneous!

There is no option to do that with M&T. However I am glad to say that after speaking with someone this morning my card has been canceled and they will be sending me out a new one. However I have to wait till Tuesday the 13th to do fraudulent disputes due to the charges being made on a weekend and they will not "post" till the 13th. I find that stupid in so many levels as by then this person will have the merchandise. I even tried to call the places they used my card at but they cannot give me any information due to privacy laws, Ummmmm how about fruad?

i find it a little odd that my almost 19 year old brother seems to be dating one of my 16 year old sister's friends

my brother was in a long term relationship for a while and when they broke up I had found a plane ticket with her birthday on it... turns out she was younger than me... made me want to puke.

Then last year my brother and my husbands friend hooked up.... BIG age difference there I wanted to smack him :bonk:

She is adorable! I am so glad you got a better health report from your own vet and I hope that by the time of the next check there won't be a trace of any heart murmur left.

So, what is her name?

This fawn snuggle bunny is named Lexi. She fits right in with my other dogs, just mini lol

My dog had a grade 4 murmur for about 6 years. It was detected by more than one vet so I doubt it was a misdiagnosis. She had to go into get some surgery to have a couple of teeth removed, and at that time, it had changed to only a grade 2 (and this was checked by 3 vets at that practice).

Even when she had the grade 4 mumrmur we would gor for runs together...sometimes up to 15kms. It never seemed to affect her at all. She just turned 12 in Feb and is still going strong!!

I have rather good news I think... I took my new puppy to My vet yesterday (had to as i have a 5 day health guarentee to see a vet) she looked her over etc and at the ending she said so It says here that she has a grade 2 murmur, I replied yes the vet said that. My vet said I would say It is nervousness as IF I had to rate it I would say it is a grade 1, if it even exists. She said she will check it again in 4 weeks but that she would almost bet that she doesnt have a murmur at that time. SO yay. he he . She is so adorable and has the heart of a lion, damn brave dog and soooo loveable. So Im happy and I think I made a great decision , I wouldnt have it any other way !

You could ask for a lower price, but be prepared for her to say no, but if you do not ask, the answer is already no! But to better educate urself in getting a lower price, do some research. If the murmur does NOT go away, she is going to need this and this and this, its going to cost a lot. The Breeder has to tell future owners about the murmur, so she may or may not have difficulty selling it! And many animals, people have murmurs and it causes them no problems!

here is 1 forum--just googled it, so no clue how trust worthy it is: http://www.pedigreed...r=96435&pagen=1

Thanks for the site, I actually have been researching about heart murmurs all day long, The problem I am having is that there is really no way to tell till the puppy is much older 16 weeks-25 weeks is roughly when they will say it is not going to go away.

I am pretty sure she will say no to me about lowering the price due to her having a few puppies in the past with heart murmur's and as she says the owners never called to say they did not go away.
I dont care I will pay full price for her but It would be nice :)

Ok.. Thanks for your help, I am actually more calmed down now. I too am a AVID animal lover so much that it is hard at times lol

Tough decision and one you probably not going to get a 100% answer on. You could call a few vets and see what they have to say. Post on a few animal forums. Tough decision! I know many breeders offer one a Gaurantee--they will take the dog back--BUT what good is that?? One is soooooo attached to it, most would never give it back. I guess one has to look at if the murmur does not go away, waht are the medical costs associated with it?? Can you afford that?? I'm a huge animals lover--love animals more than I do people, bui tone has to look at the whole picture! Probably little help, sorry! But phone a few vets and quickly tell them the story. Best of luck

I am getting her, I have too I have been waiting weeks to get to bring her home and have already fell in love with her. My concern is more should I ask for a small amount of her to compensate with upcoming vet visits? Or for the possibility that she may continue to have this murmur. I mean am I out of my mine to even consider that. I have a 5 day health guarantee to go see my vet and make sure that there in no else wrong with her But that will not change anything If it does in fact turn out to be some "heart Issues".

Im having a super dramatic day today and I am so confused as to what to do. I bought a purebred chi puppy and am suppose to go pick her up today. Yesterday she was taken to the vet along with her siblings to have shots and get a check up before leaving. Last night I got a phone call from My breeder telling me that the puppy has a grade 2 heart murmur and that the vet said in most cases it should go away as puppies tend to have this and grow out of it by 18 weeks or so. HOWEVER I woke up this morning still slightly worried so I have been researching all day long to find out the percentage that do grow out of it, and what if she doesnt grow out of it, then she could live a long life even with a grade 2 or she could progress over time ending up in medications and maybe surgery. It is more likely she will grow out of it but I am so confused as to what to do right now. I am paying 600 for this puppy :(

I have PCOS too. If you can't/won't go back on birth control what they can do is prescribe you Glucophage(Metphormin). I'm not gonna lie, this ####### is terrible. You and the bathroom will become BFF's, but it seems to work. I found out I had it when I was 11 and then I had a flare up 6 months ago, and my doctor wanted me to try this. PCOS is one of the roughest things you'll go through if you ever have a ruptured cyst, and I don't know if I'll ever be able to have children. Mathew and I have been trying for 3 months(or as we put it, we're stopping the not trying lol) and still nothing. :(

Awe... If you want children I hope that it happens soon but a word of advice is do not think about it. I have endometriosis and have had some serious problems in the past with it.I was told I probably not ever have children due it that and my blood disorder. Took 3 years to conceive my son (not trying but not doing anything to stop it).
Then 4 years to conceive this pregnancy and I worked damn hard to make it happen lol However the first two years were again not doing anything to stop it from happening and the last 2 years were hard core doing anything and everything recommended by friends, family, doctors and specialists. The funniest part is that when I finally gave in to it will happen when it happens, I got pregnant that month lol.

I should also add that I know two people. My mom and my moms friend who had disorders or problems who eventrually (without any help) got pregnant. My mom had In-vitro for years with no luck then one day 4 years later she finds out she is pregnant. My moms friend was told she and her husband had a 1 in a million chance of conceiving, she decides to change careers to a school teacher and must move far from her husband for a few months so they have this romantic weekend together before she leaves, 3 months later she finds out she is pregnant.( he had a low count and she had PCOS I believe).

Ok I shut up now lol

Tristan returned to spirit shortly after 6 pm today, Monday, January 17, 2010 at 17 years old. He was diagnosed with cancer December 30 and after the first rough week, seemed to rally for a while, although spent most of his time comfortably sleeping. He has not been able to eat for a few days now and today started having trouble drinking. Over the last week especially, he had become very frail and weak. For the last day and a half he became very restless and seemed unable to find comfort or to sleep for very long. He kept trying to cry at the door to go outside. He enjoyed 2 short trips outside yesterday but I think he really just wanted to find a secluded spot to die as he is an indoor cat. We thought he might not make it through the night but he did and had another restless day. Tonight he started to have difficulty swallowing, almost choking at times and seemed to have a difficult time catching his breath so I made the hard decision that it was time to help him go. He rode on my lap to the vets, didn’t seem to be upset or distressed, and he slipped away quietly and quickly, re-affirming that his body was indeed ready to let go.

He was just a unique and wonderful cat and I will miss him very much. :( (F)

I am sorry :( I am sure he will be greatly missed (F)

every Christmas since I moved here to the US one of my aunts always sends us a little package. It isn't anything major, just a few little crafty things she made or some little things she has bought.. but this year we didn't get anything from her not even a card. :S I am wondering if maybe the postman left the package by the door and someone walked off with it. I would feel weird calling up my aunt and asking her if she sent us something because what if she didn't and then she would feel bad..

I would call her up and see how she is doing. When the convo seems right ask her if she has received your christmas card yet.. when she says No tell her you think the mail has been acting up in your area and you are sorry she hasn't got it yet. wait and see if she says anything about sending you something?

The good news is that the calico stray cat who showed up in our yard early November and who I have been keeping in the garage overnight because she was obviously an indoor cat and not used to being outdoors - and who was probably abandoned by her owners when they moved away - has a really nice new home and a name! Ginger was taken to join 2 small dogs as the only cat by a really nice guy referred by my vet - his own kitty had recently died and he was missing a kitty cat to snuggle. I am so pleased!

The sad news is that my 17 year old cat Tristan is dying. A little over 2 weeks ago he started to regurgitate food. I figured it was his kidneys getting worse and took him into the vets. It turns out his kidneys are doing fine - but he has a tumour in his throat :( . It is constricting his esophagus and his trachea and slowly making it impossible for him to eat. He also had pulmonary edema, fluid through out his chest and was having a hard time breathing. We put him on diuretics to deal with the fluid and I took him home. That Saturday he stopped being able to eat so I started to syringe feed him pureed food every three hours. By Wednesday - less than a week after his diagnosis he appeared to be going down hill very quickly. I honestly didn't expect him to last overnight.

On the same Wednesday, I received a new herbal medication I had ordered in - a palliative liquid that is supposed to help keep cats dealing with cancer comfortable and out of pain. It had good reviews but I wondered if I had started him on it too late. Remarkably, he definitely improved the next day. He is alert, and aware, still very weak and unable to eat but looks like he is feeling better and more comfortable. He isn't able to keep down meat or catfood, but he is able to keep down yogurt, so I have been spoonfeeding him Activia vanilla yogurt ever since. He was originally able to get enough daily calories from the yogurt (about 300) but he is eating less and less now and is down to about half of that . He is beginning to have problems even swallowing that . He is still bright eyed and relatively interested in what is going on around him, and purring when I pet him, though, and even though he spends a lot of time sleeping, he still rotates through the different cat beds at different times in the day, or sleeps on the couch, and joins us on the bed at night.

Still, it is only a matter of time. The vet thought it would be days but he has already outlasted her prognosis. I am letting him set the pace. As long as he isn't in distress and uncomfortable I will keep on with what we are doing. When he starts being in pain or distress, though, then yes, I will take him into the vet.

It's tough. He is my eldest cat, and I find that I don't have much patience for anything else these days although I have stopped crying every day. I don't know when it will happen but it really is just a matter of days. Poor Tristan :(.

Awe, I am soo sorry to hear this. Poor Kitty.

Atleast you are doing your very best to keep him comfortable and he will get to leave this world with you by his side.
I actually shed a few tears reading this as my youngest cat passed away 3 months ago at the ripe age of 13, he was a maine #######. He went through a similar thing and would barely eat for a good month and a half then stopped all together. He passed away in his sleep one night but seemed to be in no pain .

My oldest cat , now the only one, is going on 19 and still healthy as ever,Never been sick yet, health damn tabby. I will go insane for a few days when he passes away as I have had him since I was 4.

My wishes are that it stays painfree for Tristan, I think it is hard for both A cat and a person to go through a "euthanasia".

Wondering the same. I can't believe only of one us heard - and on a Saturday, I don't remember that happening before (anybody know if somebody has received their IR/CRI interview date email on a Saturday?). Makes me think because of the holiday tomorrow, they started scheduling early and are maybe done now. Even though the NVC told AB2CO they would be scheduling into next week. And looking at the spreadsheet they don't seem to schedule dates after December 18th (of 2008, 2009).

I'm thinking we'll have to wait another month.

I think you guys will hear something within a few days or the even next week. I remember when shewolf and mtlgato got scheduled then noone else and I had given up, two weeks later the rest of us around that same timeline got our dates. Its coming guys :)

Thanks for the link !! With this site can you actually schedule your interview without having to wait months to find when it is from the NVC ? We just got our NVC approval this week. I started entering my information in, but didn't want to go to far, in fear of messing something up.

I believe you still have to wait for your appt letter p4, it will say you can now schedule your appt online or via phone at yada yada :)

It seems as though they have changed the process for getting your passport back to you. Instead of turning in a prepaid envelope, you now have to pick the nearest DHL location from the web site and they courier it there.
Seems like a major pain to me, especially since the nearest DHL location to Windsor is 1 1/2 hours away!
Am I correct on this change?

\Yup you are correct you need to sign up for the closest location..(for me is approx an hour drive away..and I dont have a car) No envelope is used anymore just sign up for DHL and yes what a pain in the butt but you get your visa quick :)
