I want some frigging raisin tarts and some regular macaroons... why is this such a complicated thing to ask for?
At the grocery store, walmart, target, local market all the damn tarts are chocolate or some weird frigging flavor what the hell is wrong with raisin just plain regular old style ones. Then sure I can find macaroons on occasion but they are always covered with chocolate.... again why? where are the regular tasty ones.. what is wrong people lol

CanadaFuture CR1 Canidate

If you say visiting girlfriend they will deny you entry and then your screwed.

If read lots people say visiting friends when travelling across to see their girlfriend.

Umm I visited my (now) Husband for almost 3 years before we had the the cr-1 visa . For the first few months we visited each other every other week for one week. Then I was there for 2 months and back for 2 months.

what I said

Visiting : My boyfriend

Visiting : My fiance

Visiting : My husband

I only was put in secondary one time, You are better off telling the truth then lying about it.

CanadaWhat Are You Reading?
I am currently ready a Book "the dead sit round in a ring" by David Lawrence,If the title doesn't give it away Its a mystery, murder novel. I pick up 4-5 books every time I go to the mall, the 4-5 dollar shelf, usually not the from this year, but I have liked all of them so far. My husband has no clue how my grammar sucks when I read so frequently. Guess I can read just not speak.Maybe its my Canadian accent (that I don't think exists) that confuses him.

CanadaMoving to US

We live in border towns so we go back and forth regularly.

I have a couple questions and am unsure where to find them.

After Visa is granted, does the first time my beneficiary crosses--does he have to use that as his POE and bring all of his belongings?

That first time does he have to bring ALL of his belongings? Or can he bring some of them later?

Anyone know where I can find this sort of information?

If you are doing the cr-1 visa, he will have a i551 stamp that serves as a 1 year Temp green card until the real one arrives. He can travel back and forth from the moment he uses it until he gets the actual card.
I used mine then traveled back the same day after doing some shopping in NY and moved all my stuff the next day.

He does not have to bring all his belongs the day he uses it, he can bring his belongs over a period of a year I believe.

Hope that helps

CanadaCriminal Record

She said no jail time was ever said. Just said she would get jail time if she didn't pay the fine. RCMP officer also told her she could have it purged from her record.

The USA does not consider a Canadian pardon or purge, as it is from Canada so They still will consider her as having a record.

However, I suggust you call the court that she attended and request her court records to further help her case (I asked for 6 copies of each). If she had a summary offense and only one it is likely she will be ok.

CanadaSending Money from US to Canada
Western union or moneygram.

Western union isnt that bad in fees (obviously not great but if you go in and do next day it shouldnt be too bad). You could send them a personal check but it will likely take 1 week to deposit or more, however you could get them to ask there bank prior to find out exact time line.

Moneygram tends to be run out of post offices and western union usually has tons of locations.

You can go on either site and find their canadian locations.

CanadaCanadian Gal - American Guy

Hi there,
Here`s a quick synopsis of our situation: He`s American (born in the United States) and I am Canadian (born in Canada). Neither of us have children, and neither of us have been previously married. He`s 39 and I`m 38 years old. Neither of us have a criminal record, so I`m thinking that this will be favourable for us. He is VERY slow with typing, so I got nominated to do the posting!! :D We are fortunate, in that we live relatively close to one another; it`s just a 4-hour drive, so we see each other every weekend. We take turns going back and forth between each other`s houses. Because of our location, we use a relatively small port of entry, so the border guards on both sides are beginning to recognize us!! lol We`re both fluent in the English language. Both of our families are very supportive and very happy for us; my mother told me that she instinctively knew that we would be getting married the first time she met him. His mother said the same thing after meeting me for the first time. We are in the process of becoming engaged; we`ve looked at rings together, now he just needs the opportunity to ask my father for my hand in marriage. He`s the man of my dreams and I know that we will have a very happy life together. It`s a very exciting time!

Here`s where we have questions. We will be marrying, and we hope to have babies and raise a family together in the United States. We want to follow the best process for getting me to the United States. Obviously, because of my age, I`d like to be residing in the U.S. as his wife as soon as possible, so that we can start a family.

Here are the questions:

1. Should we use the fiancée visa ... is it worthwhile, or is it a waste of time (In my opinion, Extra cost and hard to plan a wedding when you dont know when you will be approved)
2. Should we just get married, then apply for a spousal visa. If so, is it better (i.e., easier) if we marry in the States ... We will be having a large wedding; we both have HUGE families and lots of dear friends. It`s important to both of us to be married in a church, but other than that, it doesn`t matter on which side of the border we have our wedding. I say go for the cr-1 spousal visa, It doesn't matter where you get married, although it might be easier to plan it in canada.
3. How long since the beginning of our relationship should we wait before applying for the fiance visa, if we choose to go that route ... should we be together a certain number of months or years in order to have success with our applications As long as you have met in the past 2 years (In person), I would say a good 6 months since your first meeting.
4. How or where do the K1 or K3 visas play into the immigration process : Guides are up top, cr1 starts by filing a I130 (5months) then nvc stage (1 Month) then interview (2 months)
5. If we decide to have a wedding in Canada, what should we do in terms of the immigration process Nothing special, take pictures and make sure to order a copy of your marriage certificate
6. Which forms do we need to submit, and in what order
I use to know but they have change some things

I`m hoping to get a little guidance with this process. I thank you in advance for any advice.

CanadaGetting a US passport for my child...

So I have to apply at a USCIS district office for a passport? or a certificate of citizenship? Looking at the passport application it looks like the only thing I need is the affadavit about my places of residence before my son's birth......and here I thought this was gonna be simple

I figured there was more to the story.. I suggest you go into your local usps and simply ask them. I did that for our son.

CanadaGetting a US passport for my child...
To add on it looks like if he doesnt have a us birth certificate or certificate of citzenship, he will need all this for a us passport

If you claim citizenship through birth abroad to U.S. citizen parent(s), but cannot submit a Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth, you must submit all of the following:

His foreign birth certificate (translated to English)
His Evidence of citizenship of your U.S. citizen parent
His parents' marriage certificate
An statement of your U.S. citizen parent detailing all periods and places of residence or physical presence in the United States and abroad before your birth

Ummmmm.... who told you to apply for a cr-2 for your son? and why in the hell did someone not mention that you didnt have to at the Interview?

Your son is a US citizen, He has been since birth as you are his father.

Is there more to the story? You should have reported birth aboard and then applied for Certificate of Citizenship

If one parent is a U.S. citizen, the U.S. citizen parent must have resided in the U.S. for 5 years, at least 2 of which were after age 14.

CanadaConfused, need help please.

Ok, I got the Courier thing sorted out, although it's come up as DHL, not Loomis, but I assume this is ok.

Still need to know about a fee? Is this for CR1 visas, or just K-1s? We are applying for CR1, we are already married.

Also need to know if I should stick to exactly the documents requested on the interview letter or if I should bring proof of relationship even though it's not asked for.

Sorry for all the posts, panic totally set it. :(

There should be no fees at the interview if you are cr-1.

Bring proof of relationship along with everything else asked for.

well my green card etc id is all in my married name. usually they also ask for aliases which includes maiden name.

Yeah on the i865 it just says... name of person sponsored. Then it says Family name:---- Middle name: first name, SO I am assuming they mean my married name

wtfz is this bullshit. then she says do the change of address online to which i replied i did it twice and you dont seem to want to send me mail at my correct address. so now my husband and i have to take time off work to bloody well go in. grr
and now to boot it wont let me make an appt for a generic other info it tells me to go to their website...** it. i'm filing ROC in two weeks, i'll include copies of the electronic ar 11's that i've done they have the confirmation numbers on them and they will be forced to update it.

Another question..
Do I (the USC) have to file the i865 even though my wife is already here (and has been here for 1.5 years)?

I dont get the reasoning behind it if it's a yes.

LOL since they just said yes to me, That would be a yes to you.

I the beneficiary have been here for 2 years at the end of october,
CanadiandggalFemaleCanada2012-10-02 15:34:00
CanadaChange of address (During ROC)

No you dont, the online change address is bascially electronic AR-11 , after you do the request online, at the very end you will have the chance to print a copy of your request which will state in the top (AR-11 ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION), so just go a head and do the online one, next (I recommend), you to call after like 10 days and speak to an officer to confirm the change was made to your file, (sometimes it does not go through), also you want to keep your copy of the submission (the one you printed), it shows good faith and that you follow the regulation.

Another question...

Does my Husband have to file a i865, I saw it somewhere?
CanadiandggalFemaleCanada2012-10-02 11:54:00
CanadaChange of address (During ROC)
I know this has been asked before, I did use the search button before making this. I just wanted some clarification as to what to do to Change our addresses.

USCIS Says this :
If you have moved, you need to follow two different steps:

Step 1: File a Form AR-11 (This changes your address in our master database.);
Step 2: If you have a pending case, you must also file a Change of Address online or call our National Customer Service Center at (800) 375-5283. (This changes your address for the specific application you have submitted.)

Now if I use the Online address change do i still need to file a AR-11? and do I still need to call the above number as well?

I then need to change my husbands and My sons address as well do I need to do the same process?

I dont want to miss any steps, any advice?

wondering if anyone else sent it by courier. used to be they had the courier over night delivery addresses listed..i can't find it. wondering if i send it to the street addy i have with just 2nd floor if it will get where it needs to go..i'd really rather not send it by post office...

CanadaCanadian Citizenship for Children

You can also register a birth abroad in Canada just like you can in the USA.

This is the part that applies to American children born to one Canadian parent:

So the kidlets just need one picture id. I highly doubt it would take a year to get the passport back.

But if you want copies:

Who can certify copies?

It takes up to a year for the process to be complete and Im pretty sure they send all your original documents back to you WITH the certificate.
CanadiandggalFemaleCanada2012-10-22 13:53:00
CanadaCanadian Citizenship for Children

I don't know if I'm reading this correctly, but my understanding is that you need to supply the baby's BC and SSN card to canada?
If so, it's easy to get replacements in the US, I would just send the originals.

Could someone explain this to me further?
Am I understanding correctly that if I give birth to children in the US (my husband is canadian) then they can have citizenship in Canada as well? Is it a process of filing paperwork with fees like our CR1?

You must send one photo document (Usually US passport) therefor unless you want to be without the childs passport for a year you will probably want to send a notarized copy.

If your husband is canadian then yes your children together will automatically have canadian citzenship, You will be apply for a Canadian certificate the same way a child born in Canada would apply for us certificate.

True. My son has a US passport, which can count as valid photo ID. I am puzzled as what to provide as a second photo ID. It's not like he has a driver's license...

If I recall others were using SSN or birth certifcate
CanadiandggalFemaleCanada2012-10-18 15:47:00
CanadaCanadian Citizenship for Children

If the child is a minor, you can apply for a Citizenship Certificate. He/she is a Canadian citizen by default if he/she is first generation born abroad.

http://www.cic.gc.ca...CIT0001ETOC.asp

I am currently looking into applying for my son. Nowhere did I read it needs to be filed for in Canada or notarized. You can ask a notary public to do it as listed in the instruction guide. However, I don't know what kind of photo ID I could provide for a 2 month old baby...

If you dont want to send orginal documents such as Baby's passport, or SSn card,Birth certificate, then you have to send certified copies.
CanadiandggalFemaleCanada2012-10-18 15:29:00

You can do it from outside of Canada, just need to figure out what Embassy you would be dealing with. For me I live in Arkansas and I have to go through the one in Texas. Its the same forms regardless that had me confused for a bit.

I still havent sent the damn papers, I am having a hard time finding someone to "notorize" all the orginal documents as it seems they dont accept "notary publics" when applying out of canada.
I love in maryland, My local embassy is washington DC.

Just quick question if anyone has looked into applying for Canadian citizenship for their kids that were born in the US? I know our kids are entitled to it, but it sounds like to get the official papers processed they'd have to be living in Canada:

http://www.cic.gc.ca...ions/minors.asp

The main reason why I am looking into this is because my wife has expressed interest that if she takes the final steps to become a US citizen, she would want the kids to be official Canadian citizens as well.

Heres the link to find the closest embassy to you, then you can email them and they will send you the forms and the address to sent them back to

CanadaI am frustrated with the U.S. Consulate in Montreal

I know I have 6 months (5 in my case) to cross over with my Visa. However, can I physically move into the US within 6 months of actually receiving my green card? I think it takes 2 months for the green card to come once the Visa is stamped, thus potentially giving me 8 months to move into the US after my Visa is stamped. I may need the extra time to move for the reasons I described in my previous post.

I also want to know, if I go on vacation to the US in June, can I decide not to have my US Visa stamped at that time?

Thanks

You can try to avoid activating it by telling the POE officer of what you are doing however It is up to them. SOmetimes it will work, other times they will think you are crazy lol

You will 5 months to activate it then it will be 4-12 weeks to receive your greencard. You can travel back and forth between the states and Canada If you need to and I believe you have up to one year to move all your things. Just remember that anytime spent out of the states you will not be able to count when going for citizenship ie you will not be able to apply till 6 months later then you could have. If you are outside of the states for longer than 6 months(might be a year) then you will need a reentry permit?

I checked his receipt number on the USCIS website. The case status says, "Initial Review" and the explanation below says:

Your OS155A, IMMIGRANT VISA AND ALIEN REGISTRATION was accepted and is being processed at our TEXAS SERVICE CENTER location. On January 24, 2011, we mailed you a notice explaining this and describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Please follow any instructions on the notice" . Sarajane also got this letter. :)

CanadaNew Receipt Notice?

My husband's CR-1 visa was approved on January 7th, and he's already done a POE and we've received his SSN card. I was under the impression that we are done at this point. We're just waiting on his green card and the only thing we have to worry about from there is filing for removal of conditions.

The other day we received an I-797C Notice of Action. I really have no idea what this is for. It looks like the basic receipt notice we received when we filed our initial I-130 petition. It just confirms that USCIS received my application of petition as shown above. The case type listed above is Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration. Today we received another notification for an ASC Appointment Notice to take his biometrics. In the Case Type for the ASC Appointment Notice is says X999 Unknown Form Type.

Is this a normal part of the CR-1 process to get his green card? Or did they somehow make a mistake in sending these to us? I haven't seen anyone mention anything about biometrics appointments and receipt notices after their visa applications have been approved.

I'm worried the might have made a mistake with his paperwork. In any case, any feed back would be greatly welcomed. I'll probably have Jeff call them tomorrow to find out more about it.

Canadawhen did u give up your CDN residency?

Interesting tidbit for those in Ontario. I just got off the phone with the Ministry of Transportation. California did not make me hand over my Ontario license when I got my new license here. The lady on the phone said that the states are supposed to do an "exchange" program with the license, but since they didn't take mine, if I want, I can send it in and request a refund of the licensing fees I paid in Ontario, since my license isn't set to expire for another 9 months. It might be nice to get some money back somewhere in this costly process!

I did that when I got here. I got back a whopping 65 dollars from the Ontario ministry of transportation. I had just renewed my License in July and moved the following october.

Well I got an RFE today as well...grrrr! I had to go for a criminal record check as well ....as they couldn't read my fingerprints even though I had them done twice. So I went to the San Diego record check office paid the 14 dollars and now I WAIT for them to send me the report to send to USCIS. No part of this process has been simpleranting33va.gif

Same thing happened to me, I went to my Bio appt last september and they did both digital and hard copy to avoid me having to get them redone.
