Okay I am getting desperate for that Case Complete... I called last night and nothing :( Called this morning and still nothing :( On hold right now waiting to ask yet again!

Well yesterday I received an email saying that they have the IV package and it is being uploaded to our case file and Hubby got one this morning about the AOS. So hopefully we will have a case complete by the end of the week! When I called NVC last night, the guy said nothing had been reviewed yet. I work today and tomorrow, so I will call again Thursday. Unless I have this huge urge to call them sooner!

All of our packages were sent in as of the 9th of April... Not sure when I should start calling NVC inquiring about a case complete, seeing as they always say give us 10-20 business days to process everything...

YAY! Hubby got his tax transcripts so we are sending the AOS package away tomorrow! I have a question regarding the I-864. It's all filled out, I am just wondering in the areas that don't apply to us should we write N/A or None in every single spot? For example section 9 'Did someone help you fill this form out' Should I type None and N/A on all the lines?! Same for the optional section of the form?! That just seems like a ton of N/A and None's! LOL! I apologize for the silly/stupid question I just want to make sure I get this done right! When all of this is over I am seriously having a party

Saylin,

So I called this morning and when the lady told me what emails she had for hubby and I she said the right email for me. So I told her the situation and she said it looked like they had updated the email for me on March 26th. So I was thinking maybe they updated it after I sent in the DS-261. So everything is good again thank gosh, because I was a little stressed out! Although now whoever it may be who they sent the other correspondence to now has my full name and address in Canada and my Husbands full name and our address in Kentucky! Haha, oh well though hopefully they are half decent and just deleted the emails!

The only thing I'm dying to try is the poutine from Montreal! Apparently theres a really popular poutinerie who's name starts with a "B". Which hotels are you looking at? I'm scared to look at prices..we will be driving down but might as well stay for the weekend.

Oh my gosh, I am freaking so EXCITED to try the poutinedancin5hr.gif  I have just been looking at all the different hotels that are within walking distance of the consulate.  I try to chose hotels with decent reviews and decent prices, they by no means have to be a five star though.

No. I'm calling all 3 places in the morning to see prices, times, available dates and results turnover. Then base that off of hotel and flight costs.

Yeah I am a little concerned about the hotel, some of them are so expensive :(  I am bringing my Mom along with me for the trip.  We are going to fly to Montreal on May 31st I believe and stay until June 4th, see some sights  I have never been to that part of Canada.  Okay I have never even been to Alberta.... Hahaha I am such a sheltered person here in British Columbia laughing.gif

Yup I booked it yesterday.  I am just doing mine in Surrey with Dr. Cheema, as my sister lives over in Vancouver so I can stay with her while I am there.  Have you decided where you are going to have your medical?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions...
Hello VJer's

After what seems like forever and a day things are FINALLY starting to happen... I (the beneficiary) and my soon-to-be-husband (the petitioner) are legally getting married (in Canada) in 13 days and then we are flying down to the Dominican Republic to have a small symbolic ceremony on the beach on November 5th and a little honeymoon before he returns home to work. During his 2 weeks here we will be gathering all of the information needed to send away to get our Visa rolling. So why am I posting you may be wondering, well besides telling you my life story in a few sentences I also have a few questions. And please forgive me in advance because I am almost 100% positive that the questions I ask are questions that have been asked a thousand times before. But unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to read everything that is on this site. So the answer is YES, before anyone posts me links to answers to my questions, I have probably read 100 times... I am just the kind of person that likes to hear/read it directly from an actual person rather then from a post or document someone wrote who knows when. Because even though I have read most of the documents and information regarding the IR-1/CR-1, I am still confused. So I just want to make sure we have this right the first time... In the first initial package that we put together and send in... is this all that is needed...?

Payment
Cover Letter
I-130 Form
Copy of Birth Certificate (petitioner)
Copy of Marriage Certificate
G-325A Form x2 (one for each of us)
Passport sized photos x2 (one of each of us)
Evidence of Bonafide Marriage (here also is where some of my questions arise)

We plan on sending in photos. I was thinking 3-5 photos of each time we have visited each other, plus engagement photos, as well as wedding photos. Also we just purchased a house in Kentucky (the state we will live in)...Let me clarify that, he just bought a house (closing/possession happens on Oct 26), and we are planning on having my name put on the house deed as well, to show that we own this property together, the only thing is my maiden name will be on the deed and not my married name as closing is 2 days before we legally marry. Is this okay? Will this count towards proof of a bonafide marriage? If we also have family members/friends write us letters for proof can it only be the petitioners family/friends or can it be mine (the beneficiaries) as well?

Next question and I believe the last question... At what point do we send in the affidavit of support? Is this after all of our documents are forwarded to the NVC and once they send out the package to us that we have to complete. Sorry I lied a couple more questions regarding the affidavit of support. I have read and I know its true that he needs to provide 3 years of taxes and show that he earns 125% above the poverty line. Here is the situation regarding this... He was in University from September of 2008 until May of 2012 when he graduate with his bachelors degree. Part of the schooling he took required him to do a co-op. He managed to get on with an awesome company in Kentucky for his co-op where he worked part-time while going to school and made 20 dollars an hour. His co-op finished in July when he got hired on as a permanent full-time employee and his starting salary is 50K a year. Because he won't have 3 years of filed taxes due to the fact that he was in school and this is his one and only job, do we still need to find a joint-sponsor? I ask this because his starting salary is so high, although to the 'scary people upstairs' it may not matter... We won't have any issue finding a joint sponsor, it just seems so silly when the sponsor would probably be his parents and he makes more than they do. My goal once said visa is approved (I pray) is to find a job as a Nurse (which is what I am in Canada), but to become a nurse I have a few hoops to jump through, like scary exams... So I wanted to get this visa ship sailing before I jumped onto that ship.

Thanks for any help anyone is able to give me regarding these questions. And sorry for posting what seems to me like a small book!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp.. Please!!!
I am glad I am not the only person who met my husband on a MMORPG. Ours was Guild Wars  Yes I have taken note already that when we get to the interview stage it will be in Montreal. Which is so stupid. Hello Vancouver get your act together! NikiR- How did you manage to get the insurance in your name? Apparently I can't be put on the insurance until I actually move there. So after reading everyone's posts on here. Does this really mean I can 'attempt' to travel to the US to visit my husband during the visa process?! If so, that is awesome! I was thinking these 2 weeks at Christmas would be my last time seeing him until all the visa stuff is over and I move there! One more thing I am curious about when we get to the interview stage, does my husband have to be there with me?!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp.. Please!!!
Thank you all for the helpful answers. If we can gather all of the things we need we will most likely send it away prior to me travelling down to the states at Christmas. Although I have this extreme fear of being denied entry. Don't they have the right to deny you entry to the states when you have pending visa stuff going on? From all of the stuff I have read on here over the past few months that is what I have gathered. I mean I realize you need to prove strong ties to your home country which I would have no problem doing, but customs always makes me feel like I did something bad. Haha! I know it's their job! We just bought a house together in the states so we have joint owner ship of the property and we are planning on sending in photos as well as photocopies of our stamped passports from visiting one another. Can we also send in travel itineraries and old plane tickets? Or just gather that stuff and have it on the ready for later?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp.. Please!!!
Hello VJ'ers

About a month ago now I posted a huge long life story on here asking several questions, most going unanswered. So here I am again to ask once more. As of tomorrow my husband and I will have been married for 2 weeks... And he has gone home back to the USA to work and move into the new house he has just bought us... Did I mention being apart SUCKS and is excruciatingly painful. Although I am sure many of you can relate... So here are my couple questions as we are just gathering all of our documents and filling out all the forms.

I am going to visit my Husband for 2 weeks over Christmas (because I can not imagine spending our first Christmas as a married couple apart), can we send our package away while I am there or is it best to wait until I return home to Canada?

For proof of a bona fide marriage... If we have people write us letters, how many people should we get to write us letters? And do they have to be a relative of him the petitioner or can they be my relatives the beneficiary?

I am also stressing about the G-325A form that my Husband is to fill out about himself... Because his mothers maiden name is the same as her husbands name. And NO they are not related in any way, other than being husband and wife. Will they not question this and think its weird?!

And even though we are not that far in the process yet... I am curious about the affidavit of support. My Husband landed himself an excellent job this year after graduating from University and completing his intern-ship. He makes far above the poverty line but does not have 3 years of previous filed taxes as this is his first 'REAL' job due to being in school. He even makes more than his parents (who would be the ones to sponsor). Because he doesn't have 3 years of previous filed taxes does this mean we will have to go ahead and have his parents (or one of them) sponsor?

I hope this wasn't too many questions all in one go and I pray someone... ANYONE :) can answer them for me! It would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! I didn't know if they would prefer original copies of photos or if they would rather them as a print out on paper. I guess printouts on paper would be much easier. As that is 30 photos I will be sending in.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion
Hello VJ'ers

Just wondering if this is overkill for proof of a Bonafide Marriage when we send in our visa package??? Also does it matter that the cover letter with table of contents is more than 1 page? (<--- Probably a stupid question, but yah never know!)

-Evidence of a bonafide marriage
oDocumentation showing joint ownership of house located at ......
oDocumentation showing joint bank account at Fifth Third Bank
oDocumentation showing co-insurance of a 2007 Ford 500, License Plate .....
oPhotos Documenting ongoing relationship
?5 Photos from December 2009-January 2010 (Location Louisville, KY)
?5 Photos from July 2010-August 2010 (Location British Columbia, Canada)
?5 Photos from December 2010-January 2011 (Location Louisville, KY)
?5 Photos from December 2011-January 2012, including engagement photos done by Ophelia Photography (Location British Columbia, Canada)
?5 Photos from May 2012 (Location Louisville, KY)
?5 Photos from October 2012-November 2012, including wedding photos done by Ophelia Photography in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

And of course we will be sending in a copy of our marriage certificate! That is a given!

Any help, thoughts, and opinions would be greatly appreciated!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support I-864
Hello VJ'ers

So now that my Husband and I got our NOA1 the other day we are starting to get everything together on the off chance that maybe our I-130 will be approved within the next few months. It says the possible date could be between March 10 - 16! One can only hope it would be that quick! And we want to be prepared so we can fly through the NVC stage! Anyway I have a question regarding that affidavit of support... And I am just curious as to what others on here would do in our situation or what suggestions anyone has...

The Story...

My Husband attended university from Aug 2008 until May 2012. Part of his schooling required him to do a co-op whether he was paid for the co-op was dependant on where he could find one to do and if they would pay him or not. Anyway he applied for this awesome co-op that he didn't think he would get in a million years, but the angels were on our side and he got the co-op. He started the co-op in November of 2011 and worked part-time while finishing up his last few semesters of school and was paid a decent wage. He worked in this co-op after he finished university and graduated up until August of 2012 where he landed himself a permanent full-time position at the same company where he was offered full benefits and a salary of 50K a year plus a possibility of a 5K bonus depending on personal and company accomplishments.

The Question...

So for the I-864 AOS you need to fill in all the tax jazz and have supporting tax transcripts (which we know from reading everything on here). Well seeing as he was in school and only worked for a few months of 2011 and 2011 is the most recent tax year that we can get transcripts for, should we go ahead and get a co-sponsor? Just to be on the safe side... I mean now he makes well above the 2012 (2013 isnt out yet?) poverty line in order to support 2 people, but will that even matter? I mean yes he has pay stubs, and his offer letter of employment from the company, but although those may be helpful they are optional and the tax transcripts seem to be the most important as they are a must... Are they not?

So basically should we go ahead and do the co-sponsor? Or will we be okay even though his tax transcripts don't show a whole lot as of 2011? Is past tax history super important? Or is what he is currently making now more important? What kind of things are they really looking for besides being able to support me? Any thoughts, or suggestions, or what others would do, would be greatly appreciated.
