I already sent out the i864 , I mentioned only one employment , my full time job, recently I worked 2 days for the Board of Elections, earned around 4 hundred fifty dollars. Can anyone tell me if I should send the amended i864 to them, or just keep mum , I know it will delay the process

My husband lost his job shortly after we sent in our i-864 and then got a new job a few weeks later, I just brought in a Updated i- 864 for the interview

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurescanadian freaking out

Hi everyone,

I am in a long distance relationship with the most wonderful girl in the world, only problem the border....

We are looking at every options to be together and right now it seems like the most sure and fast way, to get me there and working, would be to get maried and fill for a K3 visa. I just have a couple questions about the procedure:

1: The time before the visa get approved (I saw people talking about 1 years or just a couple week for a canadian)

2: I am eligible for TN status too (haven't found a job so far sadly) and I am worried that if I get a TN status job while applying for K3 it would just screw both my TN status and my K3

3: I of course need a job and I am wondering wich option would be fastest for me to be in the U.S and working K3 or K1

Right now I just want to be with my love as fast as possible

Thanks in advance and I am sorry for my english not my first language and I am kinda freaking out about all this right now

MaxMax

Maxmax,

1) K-1 fiancee visas are currently taking about 8 months to process, Cr-1 spousal visas are taking roughly 1 year.

2) Not sure, I personally would just start the Cr-1 asap.

3) Cr-1 would be the fastest to employment as the K-1 is a few steps.

Calm down relax and use the guides when needed :)

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWife's Age is 1 year off on Marriage Certificate. What Now?

correction of error in documents depends on country specific instruction. i do not know in your country. but here in the philippines, if marriage licensed got an error, all u need to do is go to the civil registrar and have it corrected. then youre good to go.

I agree, I would give them a call and see what they say. Our marriage license had my maiden name misspelled, we had to go get it corrected for a few dollars.

Im just curious if anyone else out there can tell me of the experience they have had with having diabetes for there medicals?
What should i expect?will they deny me cause of my Diabetes?

To my knowledge They will not deny you over Diabetes, just make sure to have that doctors letter and except some questions as to when you were diagnosed, what type and if any medications are needed.
They are mainly looking for infectious diseases such as Syphilis etc.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionK1 requirements - financial proof

It doesnt matter when she got the divorce as long as she can provide the certified copy of the divorce decree when you file or filed. Her debt will not stop you from being approved. No worries good luck along the way :)

Actually depending on the Interviewer It could matter and you may get some extra questions as to when they split, when she filed and when you two became engaged. You should not be denied over it or anything but I would be ready for some questions.

As long as she makes the 125% you guys should be fine and NO debt will not matter, they do seem to care what bills you have as long as you make the minimum amount of money.

Good luck

US Citizenship General DiscussionGetting Divorce After removing the condition on Permenent Resident Card

Thanks for your reply

I am just asking a question for everything that brought up in my mind.

We already file for our divorce case and waiting for court date.

Now the only thing i would concern about when i file for my citizen ship after 5 years, do the immigration officer would create any problem for me or not?

And after getting my citizen ship what would be the problem for my future wife if she will stay outside of the united states....

As said above only thing that really changes is you cannot go for citzenship till 5 years...

Unfortuantely the way you have said it seems that you already are ready to marry someone else wife #2 and due to the fact that you Know she will need to come from outside of the united states I would say you know exactly who she is.

Noone knows your full story so we are not here to judge I just wanted to point out why some people may critize.

i wish you luck :)

US Citizenship General DiscussionUS Citizenship and Kids

Adoption certainly solves that ex-spouse problem, I sure looked into it. In our case, it had to be done in Venezuela, the home country, with a rather corrupt and extremely slow court system. Would have cost a small fortune, and she would have been an adult before it was over.

Another document that is extremely helpful, is a death certificate of the ex-spouse, tempting, but immoral. But if the ex-spouse cooperates, shouldn't be a problem. But sooner or later that kid will reach either 16 or 18 years of age, and that problem becomes history. Wife wanted to see her family, we had to find a baby sitter while we were gone. But sure wanted to bring our girl with us, but wasn't our fault. We don't make the laws, and her biological father was not cooperative. But now, he totally out of the picture.

Yeah I am quite confused on the whole adoption situation as I do not know how it will work out as we live in the States but we came from Canada. Right now I am just trying to figure out all the steps but It will probably not happen if there are too many hoops to go through.

It does suck when the EX "dead beat" will not cooperate would have saved me thousands of dollars lol

Yes 12 more years and he will be 16 :)

I have no clue on this subject but I would love to know the outcome and the answer.

My son is 4 years old, and seeing how we only got here a few months ago I have another 3 years till I can file for citizenship. Depending on how complicated a step parent adoption turns out to be, as I keep being told its considered an international adoption. I will probably be in your exact position in just a few years. I wish you luck :)

Today I had to go pick up a certified letter for my husband (as his agent).

When I was there I decided to ask, I know I still have three years but figured what the heck.

I asked how I would get around having to have my sons father sign the passport etc and explain the whole immigrated etc.

She asked me If I had full custody and I said well sole custody . She said Do you have this in a document, I said yes I have
custody court order. She said well that is all you need.

I said thanks and off i went.
CanadiandggalFemaleCanada2011-02-16 17:32:00
US Citizenship General DiscussionNaturalization and kids

I am assuming the requirement of "primary evidence of sole authority to apply" is the court document granting full custody of the children to their mother. This document was issued by the Thai court and allowed mom to legally leave her country with her kids. This document was required by USCIS before they issued their K2 visas.

I guess when the time comes, I will do as you suggested and contact the local passport office for up to date requirements.

Thanks for the info.

Someone let me know if this works... LOL I just got to the states but I am already looking into
what I will need when I do citzenship for myself in 3 years and want to get my son a passport. His father is a dead beat and has been taken to court twice once for sole custody and the second time for a court order to move my son to the USA. On the first order I do have a part that says The respondents( consent for the applicant to obtain the childs passport and to travel oustide of Canada for Vacation Is hereby dispensed with.
For his Canadian passport I do not need his signature :)

US Citizenship General DiscussionPast criminal record.
I still have a long time till I apply but ever since I got here I have wondered how my past will affect my future. I am from Canada and when i was a Juvy 14-16 years old I had two convictions when i turned 18 they were expunged (I know the us still considers it as if it still exists). I had no problems at my visa interview (cr-1) but I am wondering if it will create a problem when I go to do citizenship? Has anyone with past juvy records been approved?

Thanks

US Citizenship General DiscussionFrustrating Interview - Garden City, NY

I had a similar experience. I sent in my disposition letter from court with my application last year thinking it would be enough to show prove of my citation 3 years ago. I thought that was all i would need since it does ask for any prior arrest or citation. However when i went to my interview they told me to come back because they needed a certificate of good conduct since i had been cited in the pass. I was frustrated since i thought i have done everything they asked for just to find out they wanted an additional document that they never informed me about until the interview. This delayed my in case by another month since i had to be rescheduled the following month for another interview. Theres nothing you can really do but just bring back what they ask for.

What is a certificate of good conduct? I have a few JUvinelle offenses... (are actually expunged but in Canada) I still have
3 years before I can apply for Citizenship but I wondered how that would go. Better to be prepared in advance :)

I am trying to figure out which route to go.  When I contacted the police, they said they have nothing for me and that all info has been destroyed. thanks for this input. I guess I should put forth this info.  Will i get denied?

You need to contact the courthouse (that you were charged at) not the police. there has to be a record of what you were charged with etc.  If all the records have been "destroyed" then the courthouse will write you a fantasy letter stating so and what you were charged with.

CanadaCriminal Record Check - HELP!

Sorry to say this, but if you were officially charged, then yes...you very well might have a problem. Honesty and transparency in all aspects of the process is encouraged, and it MAY look like you're trying to cover up a criminal charge. If the police check doesn't bring up anything, there's a good chance that you won't be asked anything further about criminal history at your interview. But there will definitely be a problem if you don't get a cleared name check back. It may be something that can be rectified easily, but ultimately it might have been a costly mistake on your end.

Hope I'm wrong for your sake!

From what I have read A criminal record does not get you denied. I know that even if I still have a record it would be one charge and it is a Small charge.
I was unsure of what to put as , from what I know I shouldnt have a record as The last time i had a police check was 8 years ago. But i did a rcmp check just incase it was still on my record ( which i will have to get purge if it is as it was a conditional discharge)

Thats ok, let me clarify to that person.. The Bio father has not seen his child since birth and Has had MULTIPLE chances to see his son and Go to court as I have took him twice and HE refuses to see/talk or concern himself with OUR child so I am not taking him away. My son has a great father that person happens to be my husband... a child has the right to have two great parents unfortunately that doesnt always happen, fortunately for my son, he has a great dad even if hes not bio.

I am using Electronic processing, I have not had any problems yet, I actually am enjoy it. There are a bunch of people in this forum that have done Electronic processing and from what they have said there seems to be minimum problems. Just expect to not hear from them often and follow the awesome instructions of the wiki Electronic processing guide.
