Hey, I just got my call from DHL this morning.
You do not get a tracking number until it is at the dhl location, they will call you as soon as they get it and give you the tracking number to pick it up. I checked the site a few times and even after I got my call , nothing shows up.
They will call you though :)

Canadaperm card or green card?
Hey Guys, I was on the phone with my husband last night who was telling me about a few co workers who are happy to see that we got approved etc. Anyways one of his co workers asked if we would get a permanent residency card or the green card as she is trying to get a green card and says its really hard (shes in the states on a work visa but has a card of some sort). I have no clue what the difference is so I was like I don't know, I dont understand how they are different? I mean how many cards do they have? Can someone please explain the difference to me, I thought you get a premanent residency card and then You can try to do citizenship in a few years.
Thanks guys,
I am just confused and would like to know what it is that I am getting.

CanadaQuestion about upcoming tax year
With us, filling for the itin with his taxes tookk 4 weeks from date sent to date money was deposited into his account. So it really wasn't that long. However we did have it sent straight from an IRS office, if you go in they can copy her passport and will save you some time.

Hey,
I was asked if I had chicken pox as a child I said yes and that was the end of that. I didnt need to give any dates or timelines. I just said as a child. This was at dr seidens in toronto. As for the flu shot I think its for children and seniors, My son needs one but he can get it once we get to the states as we are poeing in a week and there are no flu clinics around here till after that.

You will be fine dont worry too much! :)

CanadaAny ideas for Xmas gifts?

My husband and I have been picking up the odd Christmas gift for the past few weeks. We pretty much do that all year, I guess.... see something that's perfect for someone so buy it at that time. I don't, specifically, pick up items which you can't get in Canada except for cereal. I bought my son Boo Berry cereal!!! He loves it. My son, my daughter, and her husband all love the large multi-pack cereals so I always bring those with me. They also like those mini frozen cheeseburgers and Uncrustables. lol

I find the Ovaltine here extremely sugary. I think the problem with the flavour is that you can't put as many teaspoons in the milk due to the high sugar content so you don't really get the flavour..... just the sugar. :(

I've never tried boiled peanuts. I always wondered about them because when we lived in Florida there were places selling boiled peanuts on practically every road. I'd never buy them, though, because seriously..... they're boiling peanuts on the side of the road. Where do they go to the bathroom and where do they wash their hands? Nah uh. Not for me. :dead:

Since Trailmix is no longer on VJ I guess we're not doing the Secret Santa thing. :(

No secret santa, "crys" That sounds like fun though :(

Dont worry about it just yet, I am sure it is on its way! Your interview was only last week and unfortunately they dont always issue the visa on the day they say they will. As long as you are signed up and have a reference number,Im sorry you havent received it yet :( You could always send an email but I dont think you will get an response back. OH you can also call one of the DHL numbers maybe they would know more?
Good luck

well not exactly my package came so quickly that I didnt even realize i could track it that way. But I did try it and it showed everything so its worth a shot. The status on the visa site itself didnt update for awhile but I believe that the DHL.ca site works alot better. It gives details.

im not sure but have you tried the way we track a package coming. Try using the reference number on the visa summary page and input it into the reference number box at www.dhl.ca.
Im not sure it will work but its worth a shot.
Good luck

Hey Guys,
I know this is a question that has been asked a zillion times but I cannot seem to find it in the search. I must not be typing it with the right wording. So here goes, I am packing up what little stuff I actually have and am trying to write it down as It goes into the box. However it seems if I write everything single thing down, theres going to be a few pages worth. do we just generalize? example my first box I packed.
I wrote Womens clothing, then i listed 3 long sleeved shirts,5 short sleeve shirts,5 sweaters,6 jeans,4 dress shirts and so on. Is this correct?

Canadamtl interview question

I had my interview yesterday and was asked similar questions as all of the other posters. I wasn't asked to swear an oath. There was one question that kind of weirded me out though. I had mentioned that I was pushing for us to relocate to upstate New York or Vermont after my fiancee graduates. The woman laughed and said close to Canada. Several minutes later after asking other questions, she said "How do I know you are serious about moving to the United States. I mean I hear you talking about upstate New York and Vermont...", or something to that effect.

I can't even remember what I said, but I thought of a million good answers after the fact. In general, the woman was very pleasant, thorough, and doing her job. It's really nothing to worry about, but check the list of example questions, read through your forms and documentation, and relax and be honest.

My answer to that question would have been because I am jumping through all the hoops, A sane person who is Not serious about moving to the states would never embark on this journey. Or atleast I wouldnt.

Canadamtl interview question

I wonder what the strangest question someone was asked? that could be interesting....

haga who had his interview the same day as mine was asked what his wifes room looked like? He told me this after his interview while I was waiting for my interview. I think thats a tad of an odd question, I mean one could say anything and they wouldnt know whether it was truth or not.

Canadamtl interview question
I was asked
how did we meet
when did we meet
when and where did we meet in person
where my husband worked
what my husbands job duties were
how many times I had visted the states
how many times he had visited Canada
If my sons Bio father was involved
And a few questions about my Criminal record.
All in all interview was 10-15 minutes long

Canadalicenses in the US

Each state is so different. There are a million variations of how to deal with a Canadian DL. Well, I guess in this case there is only 50

Here in CO, you need an EAD or GC and SSN. No written or road tests. They also let me trade in my Ontario G2 for a full license.

Has anyone ever tried to compile a list on how to get a DL in each state? It may be something valuable for us to start, considering Canadian licenses are often treated differently than other foreign licenses. It could be part of the Canada Wiki!

Thats a great idea, you should start it :)

CanadaMy Wife (Canadian Citizen)'s Situation Help & Advice Please!

Still have a few questions. I am almost done assembling the pack.

BTW, several posters have helpfully suggested that I can visit her in Canada, instead of focusing on her coming in. I agree (see post #62), and that is the plan as I try to make arrangements to be able to leave work. <- That is the immediately plan. Part of the reason I have been trying to find ways for her to come in is because: 1) that's the part that needs figuring out, and 2) we were caught completely off guard and as such we were not ready for her to be away for so long, still lots of stuff to take care of here that I can't do as well as her.

I was wondering if someone can shed some light on my questions in post #63. I imagine the local USCIS office would be familiar with the format of the certified marriage license. I even had a long discussion with the county office when I picked them up and they assured me that this was the only format they could provide.

Also, for my question in #64, can I use my own color printer or should I have them printed at Costco or a photo lab? I plan to annotate below each photo with the date and location information, as well as some financial related info.

(Looking at the photos, both of us have aged as each year past by...)

#64 I used my own printed, no reason to spend money at costco or photo lab if you dont need to but you can if you want :)

CanadaMy Wife (Canadian Citizen)'s Situation Help & Advice Please!
I have never overstayed but been in the states multiple trips some longer then others. I know that in my case all the officers except for one was extremely nice. Only one actually mentioned how much I visit and when I came home to Canada I always stayed for a good 4-14 weeks. I know that being apart for months can be hard but it could help as she needs to legally be in canada for 6 months out of the year. I am not sure if she is even able to visit you as she overstayed. Personally for now I would suggust you visit her and maybe try in a few months, But be prepared for a denied entry.
Good luck

Thank you, and that would be the confusing part to me. Wouldn't that mean the wait time for CR-1 would increase as a result of filing for K3/I-129 after NOA 1 for I-130?

CanadaToronto or Montreal for K1 Medical

My fiancée has scheduled her interview at Montreal for late January. For her medical exam, she wishes to be examined by a female doctor. Does anyone who has had their medical done in either Toronto or Montreal know if a female doctor may be requested for the medical?

the toronto Dr seidan is a male but he doesnt examine you per say, he does heart, lungs and tummy but the other parts are done by a Female nurse. I am unsure about montreal

Canadavisa denied?

As for me, it's only been 4 business days since my interview , today being the 4th.
We called DOS as well, but i don't think they even know to be honest. They were not even aware that we were scheduling our own interviews, so i don't put much value in what they say. The lady said we were in AP, but we said that we had the interview letter in our hands stating we had already been approved. So she changed her story and said to follow the instructions on the approval letter, which was to register with DHL, i've already done that.

Again, as it's only been 4 business days for us ( we can't include friday in all fairness ), we won't start worrying until Monday of next week or possibly beyond that.

well colour me red, I swear to you I thought today was friday,,, Guess I overly excited and lost track of time. Haha
CanadiandggalFemaleCanada2010-10-28 08:50:00
Canadavisa denied?

Alright, so you called DOS? What I would do is call this afternoon to see if you get a different answer. The visa being pending would mean AP (administrative processing). If the person you get next says the same thing, definitely get your congressman involved.
I think it is safe to say that whatever a DOS person tells you, don't blindly believe it. A couple weeks could mean a couple of months, considering they are not the most accurate most of the time...
The faster you get the congressman involved ( I know I'm repeating myself here) the faster you'll have an answer, and hopefully your visa in hand.
Don't stress out too much, even though that's easier said than done, but stay proactive and things will be ok. If you just wait around, that wouldn't be good for your stress level!

agreed again, man you people are smart! Ha ha .
Give Dos a call another 1-2 calls today just to get answers from more then One person. If you are in ap theres most likely no problem they are just holding it to fit their quota maybe
I cant answer why some people (such as myself) have got it in 2 days and others end up waiting, I believe MSR still has not received her visa either and shes in ottawa, although her interview date was friday so its been 5 business days for her.
