A form's OMB date is NOT the form's expiration date, OMB date has to do with a survey conducted by USCIS for OMB (Office of Management and Budget) and has to do with the paper-work reduction act.

We are getting the I-751 prepared - husband's GC expires on July 11. We hope to file by the end of this month. So far we have:

Joint bank statements
Copies of our NY State ID cards showing same address
Joint tax returns for 2009 and 2010
Copy of my legal name change(included changing my last name to married name)
Copy of my work benefits statement showing Govi as beneficiary on my life insurance policy and medical/dental insurance
Copy of itineraries from trips we took to India last summer and Christmas 2010 to visit my parents and upcoming Nepal trip (May '11)
Photos(5) from Christmas trip with my parents - don't have any of us together from India trip :(

We do not have a joint lease/mortgage or utilities since we are subletting/sharing an apartment and all the bills are in the main tenant's name. Since living in NYC is expensive and people do what they need to do to live here(our situation is not unusual by any means) I am hoping this will not be a big red flag - I will include an explanation of our circumstances.


Your list looks good. I got approved(no RFE) without sending mortgage/lease agreements. We dont have it because we were on my husband's company's dime.I did not enclose an explanation either.

Go ahead and file there will be no consequences you will be fine dont worry.File for your AR-11 online and keep the confirmation copy then send in the I-865.They will send your hubby a notice upon receipt of the I-865 form.It doesnt take that long for them to send a notice.Then enclose both copies in your ROC packet..Thats what I did and never had a problem...

You're welcome! Five days upon receiving the email that my GC was mailed I called USCIS. I know that it was sent via priority mail so I was wondering why I haven't received it and that's what I told the Tier 2 agent that I talked to. She then gave me the tracking number so I can check it on my own and do follow ups at USPS.

Certainly no tracking number... USCIS doesn't do this kind of thing. If all goes well you should be getting your card in a week or so.

If you don't receive it soon, it's probably because of the same situation that happened to me: although my case was approved more than 30 days ago AND I did receive the "card production ordered" email, I learned today from an IO officer that as I suspected, my card in fact has not been ordered. He had to order it today. It's quite annoying specially if you have to travel abroad as I did last week... they don't accept the passport stamp and always end up sending you for further confirmation that the stamp is "real". Go figure...

This non-production issue unfortunately seems to be quite common, as it's also one of the options while booking an Infopass. Unfortunately they won't let you question it until a month has passed, even though you will sense if your card has not been ordered. In my case, I have to wait one more month now to get the card... Hope your card reaches you very soon!


Yes there is a tracking number. And yes USCIS do provide it if you ask for it. Me and my friends were able to track the delivery of our GCs...

I've never heard of not being able to add another user (such as a spouse) to your credit card. My wife had no assets when she came here and obviously no credit. She has been added to several of our credit card accounts.

I filed an AR-11 by mail back in August of 2011, but never received any confirmation. My husband filed an I-865 for the affidavit, and he did receive his.
In April of 2012 I received "NOTICE OF REQUIREMENT TO FILE PETITION TO REMOVE THE CONDITIONAL BASIS OF AN ALIEN'S PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS" on my old address. It was forwarded to me by the post office. I realized that the first address change wasn't successful. So I sent a new one. Still waiting for the confirmation. I'm wondering if they send any confirmation at all? Should I call them to make sure they did it? I have a proof that they received my mail.

I am about to send my ROC packet and I now worry about the consequences of this failure to update my address. If USCIS still has my old address and my husband's new address it may seem that we live separately. Fortunately I have plenty of evidence that we live together, but I still worry about this.

Don't worry about it. They sent my reminder at my previous address too.I filed AR-11 online so I just enclosed the confirmation copy on my application. But even though you don't have a confirmation copy it doesn't mean there will be problems. It's gonna be OK. Just send your application using your new address and it will updated from there.

Ok, my husband and I filled for my 10 yr GC. I already had my Biometric done. We received a mail from USCIS asking for evidence. I am confused for what evidence they're seeking for.

We sent bills, insurance, ITR (which I believe 2010 only, but not sure), latest bank statement, etc. These were the documents that we sent.

Am I missing some documents that I need to be sent?

I am preparing our 2009-2010 ITR, bank statement from 2009-2011, pictures ( you think that will help?)

Are there anything else that I need to send with it?

Replies from you guys is highly appreciated. I filled January of 2011.

Instead of copies of your ITR why dont you send copies of your 2009-10 tax transcripts instead?They want evidence/s of financial co-mingling and the latest bank statement might not suffice so you're on the right track in sending bank statements spanning the last 2yrs.You might want to get affidavits from friends,ulitily bills and joint lease/mortgage....

I got another update:

On April 20, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this CRI89 PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Is this when they mail the green card? That means that its not really 30 days. It can be sooner. This is a good sign fellow VJyers!! :)
