Hi, guys . I just wanna asks about Baptismal Certificate. I found out a year ago that my Baptismal Certificate has errors. My name was misspelled, it is not the same spelling written in my Birth certificate I got from NSO and from Local Civil Registry . I know that the Local Church where I was baptized was the one liable for its correction. What procedure do I have to make?Can I just bring my birth certificate to show the correct spelling of my name or do I need to show additional requirements to have it corrected?.....I`m just confused?

Second, I have authenticated birth certificate issued years ago. Can i still use the cert. as K1- Docs. soon. or do i need to get new one?

i had my baptismal certificate corrected last year..i went to the local church where i was baptized then i was asked to bring my bc and 2 witnesses who were not related to me..after me and the witnesses signed a form i was given a letter to be forwarded to the bishop's office(in my province)..it was a letter of correction that needs the approval of the bishop since i was baptized in a catholic church..it just took me an hour to get the approval which i then took back to my local church and i got my corrected baptismal certificate right at that moment..

congratulations!!!you did well inspite of her being a meanie to you..if that was me grrrrrrrrrrrrr ...i dont know if it was the same lady who interviewed me yesterday..i was assigned to room 29 and yep she was on the "heavy side" but she was nice to me and i even told almost everybody that i can never ask for a better CO..now your experience got me thinking mmm..if that was her maybe she was reprimanded..anyway the girl interviewed b4 me by the same CO was grilled for 20mins..her fiance was waiting 4 her outside too and i think that she was denied..

How is everything doing? just a quick question does the NBI clearance , Birth certificate. and Final decree of annulment need a red ribbon to submit for the interview? Just wondering if that is necessary if so I would like to ask my beneficiary to start getting things done as she is not living in her own country..does anyone knows? I guess there is :) :whistle: ? She is from Phil. but living in Macau..

Nope.Its not required to have those documents red ribboned..Its more of a requirement for applicants going to the Middle East or other parts of Asia but not in the US..Goodluck!!

When mhay went for her medical they did a pregnancy test. They will give you your shots if you are menstrating. In fact they wouldn't give mhay her shots when she first went since I was there & she had "contact" w/me. They told her 2 go back when she had her first day of her period to do another pregnancy test & get her shots. They do pregnancy tests because of a couple of the shots are live viruses.

I was told told the same thing when I had my medical 2yrs ago.It was a pregnancy test and they dont want to vaccinate in case you're expecting.

Mhay just renewed her passport at the DFA & it doesn't have her married name. I submitted the papers with the way she wanted her name shown. The visa will be issued in the name in the passport. It is better to renew now than when you are in the US. It is cheaper too.


The OP is already here in the US based on her timeline and is adjusting her status.

What else is in that packet they give you with your passport and Visa?


Nope Immigrant Data Summary is not for K-1 visa holders. K-1 is a non-immigrant visa so it doesn't come with IDS.Only the brown envelope,CFO flyer and passport with visa is sent to the approved applicants.

I couldn't be more prouder of my wife.Like most of the Filipinas here she's literate in English.She speaks 4 languages(not dialects) and never had problems doing all the paperworks herself. I never relegated her and asked her to do everything but she told that she will take care of it and she did.

I just paid my local civil registrar $300 and I got an amended copy in a month on NSO secpa. With the BReN and everything it was just 3 months for me.But i have a friend who filed for it herself and got it in just 5months..

Hello! Did she file for the correction herself? I had problems with my BC too and not only a letter is missing but my whole first name and my parents' date of marriage was wrong too.For such problems I did not wait that long. I got my corrected BC in just a month and yes... in NSO secpa(security paper).NSO released a copy of my BC with amendments but with the BReN # missing.I was told it was because its not in their database yet.The reason mine was faster was maybe because our Local Civil Registrar(with $300 paytag) did everything for me .I got the certified copy like I said after a month but when I checked the signature from the Civil Registrar General was missing so I got a hold of them because I thought I was duped. It was genuine.Two months later I got a copy of the my amended BC with the signature and BReN #.So all in all it just took them 3 months to process, amend my BC and put in their database.

Corrections on BC doesnt require applicants to go to court anymore.It can now be amended without going to court following the passage of RA 9048. I dont think the Philippine Embassy would be able to help you with expediting its release.

Yes it is. And I advice that to all applicants who'll have their medical. Me and my friends went there at 2pm and got out about 3:30. Very fast and no lines.Goodluck!

I think the lawyer is trying to pull a fast one on your fiancee.After the passing of RA 9048 judicial orders are not needed anymore. So court hearings are useless because misspellings and typos can be corrected without those. I got mine corrected 4 years ago and it was really fast..My first name was missing(I have two which is common in the Phils) not just a letter or two. I went to my town's civil registrar ,paid a little more(thats the trick lol) and got it in just a month.Tell your fiancee to go and talk to the civil registrar and inquire there. Its a DYI thing and dont let this lawyer feed you with all that ####### its not that hard!

Red ribbon = red tape!

The US Embassy will never ask for a red ribbon authentication.The U.S. Embassy does not recognize "red-ribbon authentication" as proof of document legitimacy so its unnecessary.

That is for other countries like Norway,Netherlands,Korea and mostly countries from the Middle East. The embassy only requires basic document requirements such a BC from NSO(security paper),NBI etc as long as your fiancee have those she'll be fine. She doesn't need the 'red ribbon'.

I totally agree! We need to understand how it works first. Commercial invoices that have a dutiable value of 3000 pesos and above are subject to authentication by the customs and is subjected to custom duties and taxes. I dont advise it but I always declare lower value on customs form so I don't pay anything. Never had a problem and never paid zilch.Also it would help if you use the Phils Custom Tax Calculator to get a ballpark figure of how much you will pay.

The Bureau of Immigration strongly recommend and requires Filipinos(though a PR here you still hold a Phil passport) traveling to have a passport that is valid for at least 6months.You might not have a problem returning here since they just usually check your GC . Renew it as not to encounter any problems at the airport. Better be safe than sorry.

Every applicant's case is different and so are the interviews. Mine was like a walk in the park I dont know if I just got lucky because the applicant before me was grilled for like 10 minutes. The consul asked me these questions:

How did you meet?
Where does he work?
How many times did he visit you ?

She looked at our pictures, congratulated me and told me that my visa is approved. It was very fast , about 3 minutes.
