PhilippinesQuick Question about Marriage.
Much as we wanted to help you, our suggestions will vary in circumstances that we experience. whistling.gif K-1, K-3 and CR-1....to choose from. My experience taught me that it is easier to apply the K-1 because in my timeline, from the time we submit the papers up to the time I arrive in the US that took us only 8months. The expenses? His plane tickets to and fro, 10days stay in PI , so 10 days hotel stay, visit BOHOL, the fee of 1-129f, my 1 week stay in Bayview for my medical, interview and departure dates since i live southern part of PI ,plus 8 domestic air fare (when i see him in manila, during my medical, on my interview and my departure to US).....lastly, the plane tickets to US. Those are the costly expenses for us in doing the K-1. In 8 months I am here united with him. Wedding cost? We only have civil wedding but have 60 guests. I find it cheaper because if i choose to marry him in PI, it will be a church wedding and we have to invite the whole family and close friends. It would cost a lot for sure. We applied marriage license cost $97 and the next Saturday we have the ceremony in a nice house beside the lake, tropical wedding. Monday, we have our marriage certificate. That is awesome fast and cheaper yeah? good.gif yes.gif Well, next year, we will be back to the Philippines and have the church wedding for sure for my family and friends. At least I can share something from my pocket by then. tongue.gif
So, Goodluck to your journey. good.gif

My fiance has a globe roaming sim. He is in Florida. This is where I text him as in text to the max especially when I am enrolled to unlimited texting hahaha. If you load 100 pesos, that is good for 15 days only. 300pesos is for 60 days. I just don't know with the other amount. The phone must be triband.

God bless!

Im using RAZR phone , i was able to use it in GUAM laughing.gif while i am Roaming (kababayan simpack pa) ....smart only that has a signal at the airport. So, it must be a triband yes.gif . Other Filipino traveler use the smart . When I arrived ORLANDO, wala na talaga. I sell load wallet back home most of the time may mga clients ako sa abroad. Kaya lang kahit 500 ang na i load ko and I used 1 text only while in GUAM, wala talaga. Saan ba fiance mo sa Florida? If he is in Orlando, and he got a signal, sira siguro fon ko coz i cant have a signal. I should change my phone then cool.gif . ohmy.gif

Right . yes.gif .Mas okay tayo sa Pinas kasi when we received text wala bayad. D2 meron. In my TMobil, when my friends send me messages thru my mobile fon they pay and I also pay.... wacko.gif Anyways, I have to have a plan to have 400 txt messages for $5....than paying .15 per text outgoing or incoming.

As of now, PI friends and family just communicate with me thru internet . If I am offline, they sent me messages direct to my phone in TMOBIL so, i still can communicate with them anywhere I go. What is important is I can talk to my mother and siblings thru YM and MSN Messenger using my headset and webcam anytime/anyday we want. I never get homesick so far.

I tried to enroll in roaming in globe and smart the day before i travel to the USA but, i really dont know, i cant contact using either number here in Florida. That is why i use T-Mobil. I load 500 in my globe and smart, yet its gone with out my usage....So, roaming is good only in some states then ? I was able to use my Smart in Guam but, when i arrived in Florida, wala eh.

I’m very curious as to why most K-1 visa holders apply for a SS# before getting married, then go back and change to the married name. Is it possible to just get married then apply for the SS# in the married name thus eliminating the running back & forth?

Thanks!

Of course you can apply for SSN after you got married. But make it sure that the I-94 is not close to expiration or you will have to wait till you got EAD or GC. I believe one of the reasons why most of us applied for SSN before getting married is we thought it might be needed in applying for marriage license. It's really all up to you...

mae is right too. some state required to have ssn when getting married so that's the reason too.

In my case, I remember that its less than 5 minutes interval between the 2 text messages from them... If you dont receive the confirmation, call them yes.gif Just a tip, during your interview, include the receipt you pay on any NSO certificates you had like BC. I did that with mine so, if ever they had doubts the receipt would help a lot. Goodluck.

PhilippinesMission Accomplished: VISA APPROVED! God's glory shines in us!
QUOTE
QUOTE (RyaNRiza @ May 28 2008, 05:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

My interview experience on May 27, was a great and rewarding experience for me and I want to share it with everyone and will give a few tips which I have learned from the said experience for reference of future applicants.

WAITING AREA: OUTSIDE THE US EMBASSY BUILDING

Reached US Embassy at 5:50AM. There were already a bunch of people waiting outside the building. I recognized Cess and Art (thru their pictures on Friendster) and I didn’t have the second thought to approach them. They have the same interview schedule as mine. They were very nice. We had chit-chats while waiting for instructions from the security guards who were supervising everyone. K1 and immigrant applicants with 7:30AM schedule were told to fall in line at 6:30 and we went inside the Embassy building.

TIP 1: You really don’t have to go to the Embassy so early in the morning. 6AM is good enough. Applicants are called by category and the time of their interview schedule. (Thanks dbears and ammike for giving me this tip!)
TIP 2: Always follow the security guards' instructions instead of the vendors outside the Embassy. There are vendors who will ask what category are you and would tell you where to fall in line or would tell you that the said category is not called yet.

TICKET BOOTH: ASSIGNED NUMBER

When we were already inside the building, we were told which area to seat (still it is by category). A few minutes after, we were told to get our assigned number at the ticket booth. My number was 7002. We were asked to submit all of the DS Forms. The number 37 of my DS-156 was encircled with red pen indicating that I had not answered the question completely.

TIP 1: Double check your forms to make sure that you did not miss to completely answer a single question.
TIP 2: Do not forget to staple or glue your picture on DS 156. Cess’ pictures were not stapled on the form. It was the person on the ticket booth who stapled her picture.
TIP 3: Keep the ticket given to you. It is your assigned number for the whole duration of the visa approval processing. Memorize and do not forget your number in case you lost the ticket. There were a few individuals (mostly senior citizens) who lost their tickets. Good thing they remember their numbers biggrin.gif

FINGER SCANNING

Finger scanning windows are number 16 and 33. I was assigned on window 16. There was a person assigned to assist the applicants in doing this process. I observed that window 33 didn’t have and the applicants just did it themselves.

TIP 1: Take a hanky or tissue with you if your hands are sweaty because it will affect the image of your fingerprints on the computer and you have to redo the process.

After finger scanning, we went back to our seat and waited our turn for the pre-screening.

TIP: Be attentive of the numbers that are flashed on the screen just in front of the area where you are seated. It is not flashed in numeric order.

PRE-SCREENING

My pre-screening happened around 8:30. I was assigned on window 25 (female pre-screener). She told me to give her my NBI, BC, and CENOMAR (in CENOMAR she said “if I have it”) and AOS (Affidavit of Support). She asked me if I have Ryan’s certification from work then it’s better if I can include it with the AOS. She only asked for Ryan’s 2007 Income Tax and W2. I kept the 2006 and 2005. She noticed the number on my DS 156 that was encircled with red pen. She gave it to me and had me complete answering the question. Of course, I said “I'm sorry Ma’am” with a big smile biggrin.gif

QUESTIONS ASKED: (in random order)
1. Who is your petitioner?
2. How did you meet?
3. When did you meet? (the date of our meeting online)
4. When was his first visit? Did he visit you again?
5. What does he do? (She made a follow-up question about the exact task that Ryan does)
6. When is your birthday?
7. Have you ever been married?
8. Has he ever been married?
9. Do you have kids?
10. Does he have kids?

She never asked me for any evidence of relationship, except she asked me if I have pictures of us, but didn’t ask me to show it to her. Everything in my pre-screening was done pretty quick. I think I only stayed there for 3 minutes and went back to my seat waiting for my final interview.

My Personal Review/Assessment of Window 25 Pre-Screener:
She’s very nice and didn’t give me any problem regarding my documents. Before the interview I was concerned without having my baptismal certificate as a support document for my late registered BC. There was no time wasted. She’s pretty attentive and worked with agility. She’s quite generous of her smiles (which I did when I greeted her good morning, hmmm…law of reciprocity?) On a scale of 1 to 10, I will give her a perfect score of 10.

TIP 1: Always wear your big smile that shows your confidence and enthusiasm.
TIP 2: Have your documents ready and easy to retrieve to avoid delays. If you compiled it in a folder with a slider, take off the slider while you are on your seat waiting for your turn on the pre-screening. My screener only got my documents without the folders. Don’t know with others if they did.
TIP 3: Look into the pre-screener’s eyes or face while she asks you questions (they will only glance at you once in while because they are busy encoding in the computer or writing your answers on a piece of bond paper). Answer him/her precisely.
TIP 4: If you can’t hear him/her well, don’t be ashamed to tell the person. Sometimes there are technical problems on their microphones or the speaker installed outside the window (although this didn’t happen to me, but I observed a few encountering this problem).

FINAL INTERVIEW: INTERVIEW WITH THE CO (Room/Window 30)

My final interview was done around 10:25AM. I was assigned on Room/Window 30. It was a lady Consul on her 40s. She was busy typing on the computer when I entered the room and I greeted her. She asked me how am I doing, and I answered her with a big smile and enthusiastically said “I’m doing great! I feel so excited! This day has finally come!” She smiled and replied “That’s great!” biggrin.gif

QUESTIONS ASKED: (in random order)
1. What is your name?
2. Who is your petitioner?
3. How did you meet?
4. When did you meet?
5. What does he do? (This time I didn’t wait for her to make a follow-up question. I explained to her the nature of Ryan’s work.)
6. How long has he been doing that if you know? (of course, I know wink.gif )
7. How old are you?
8. What do you do? (I told her about my work and she asked what do I research online.)

Like the pre-screener she didn’t ask me to hand her any proof of relationship. She asked if I have pictures, but didn’t ask me to show it to her. She just said that she had pictures of us (the one that Ryan sent in the application.) As she was typing on the computer she said that everything looked fine and blah blah blah (positive blahs). In all of the blahs the one that only stuck on my ears and memory was “YOUR VISA IS APPROVED!!!” Wow, just imagine my smile from one ear to another ear biggrin.gif On the entire time I was inside the room I couldn’t let go off the smile on my face. It must be of my excitement to finally be given the privilege to marry with one of their amazing citizens biggrin.gif

My Personal Review/Assessment of Room/Window 30 CO:
Very nice, lively and charming woman. Everything on the final interview was done pretty quick like the pre-screening. She had not wasted a single second. Her agility in multi-tasking is quite impressive (typing on the computer while asking questions and checking the hard copies of my documents). Full of positive comments and remarks. I can see that she was happy too of giving me approval through her smiles and remarks. On the scale of 1 to 100, I will give her 101 biggrin.gif LOL

TIP 1: Same as 1, 2 and 3 on pre-screening. (Some COs ask for proofs as most previous applicants said. If I compare the sound system on pre-screen and final interview, the final interview room has a better and much audible sound system.

RELEASING COUNTER: WINDOW 38

After the final interview we were instructed to wait for our name to be called for the releasing of documents/result (whether you’ll get pink or white slip, or both). A few people on the line were asked if they have already paid DELBROS for the document verification. If they did, the person in-charge will look for the receipt of your payment (Metrobank Deposit Slip). When I was about to hand my receipt, the in-charge told me that it’s not needed because they already got the result of my document verification. Amazing! Thanks to Robbie for a job well done. I was given a pink slip and was instructed to pay my visa delivery at the DELBROS booth.

TIP: Bring along with you in your interview day the receipt of your document verification fee to be shown to the person in-charge as proof of your payment.

VISA DELIVERY FEE: DELBROS BOOTH

They gave us a form to be filled up and paid only 250Php.

TIME CONSUMED DURING THE ENTIRE PROCESS: 4 hours and 55 minutes
Arrival at the Embassy vicinity : 5:50 AM
Went Out from the building: 10:45 AM

LAST NOTE
My entire interview experience was quite memorable and exciting. Each person I had talked and befriended with expressed nervousness, of which I definitely felt specially when I was outside the room waiting for my final interview (I don’t know if there were people inside the Embassy who didn’t experience an abnormal thudding of their hearts due to nervousness, except the employees of course biggrin.gif) However, my excitement and joy overwhelmed my nervousness when I was already inside the room, seeing a charming CO who will give me the ticket to enter the US soil so I could be joined and marry my amazing fiancé, Ryan. I didn’t see her as a threat, rather, someone who was my teammate who helped me get my visa approval. I couldn’t explain the wonderful emotions I had when she said that my visa was approved. My smile wouldn’t let go off of me. May 27 is one of my most memorable life experiences. It’s an addition to my list of God’s demonstration of His great love for me.

To future interviewees, I wish you all good luck. I will have you in my prayers. Everyone will surely be approved. Just make sure that your documents are complete to avoid RFEs. Definitely bring all of your proof of relationship. Pay your document verification in advance as almost everyone did. Hopefully your docs are already verified before your interview, just like mine and other previous May interviewees. The most important thing of all, always make God the supreme part of every endeavor you will go through. I myself is His witness of His great love and grace. I have experienced and tasted the works of God’s hands during the entire trip of my mission to Manila. I have claimed our victory in advance and our Almighty God gave me my reward.

I give back the glory to the One who made everything possible and beautiful. TO MY GREAT ALMIGHTY GOD AND FATHER BE THE GLORY!!!

- Riza kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

P.S. Here is a picture my friend Grace took of me before we headed to USEM.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI129f denial reasons
QUOTE
QUOTE (Stephen1 @ Jan 19 2008, 09:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I was just wondering if it happens often that the uscis denies applications or do they almost always send RFEs. Ive read some of the immigration lawyer websites and they give examples of people who were denied for what looks to be almost no reason but I suspect they are trying to scare people into getting a lawyer. Ive even read that about half of all applicants get rejected which scared me to hear that. My situation is ive never been married before, dont have any criminal record or anything, I met my fiance at filipinaheart and knew her for about 2 months before filing the I129f. For those who have been on this website for a while, I was wondering what you have seen as far as approvals. Do most legit couples get approved or is it true that a lot of people get denied for almost no reason or something very petty?

*Those who will be denied have these reasons: crying.gif

1. Lack of documents
2. Misrepresentation of facts
3. Medical Concerns
4. Criminal Grounds
5. Lack of Petitionable Relationship

* sad.gif RFE's will be sent only to those applications who failed/forgot to submit necessary documents .

* I believe that as long as you follow the guidelines accordingly, submit all necessary documents, triple check your documents and pay necessary forms. whistling.gif ....100% will be approved even without the help of lawyers. Just stay in these site though because VJ FAMILY are more than willing to help based on real experiences. yes.gif

* And yes....the MEETING IN PERSON is important....because, up to the final stage of K application....you will be ask to submit EVIDENCE of the RELATIONSHIP (airline tickets, pictures of you together....etc)

So, GOODLUCK kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

QUOTE (vj2008 @ Feb 1 2008, 10:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Last week my American fiance suddenly sent an email to tell me he did not want to marry me. After he came to my country to visit me in May 2007, in September 2007 he told me he applied visa k1 for me and he sent me the copy of I-797 with the receipt number WAC-07-275-53311 to show me that he truly applied the visa k1. Then he started to talk about the rent of his apartment would rise and he wished I could help him. I thought he tried to ask me to send him money to pay his rent. I refused to send him money because I did not have dollars to send him. After he suddenly told me he did not want to marry me, I have to wonder if he truly applied visa k1 for me and if he faked the copy of I-797 to fool me. I can find WAC-07-275-53311 on uscis website but I can not find his name and my name relating WAC-07-275-53311 on uscis website.

Could anyone tell me how and where I can check if WAC-07-275-53311 is truly about him and me? How can I know if WAC-07-275-53311 is real?

If WAC-07-275-53311 is real and if he does not cancel it after he does not want to marry me, what will happen? Will this make trouble to me when I want to get married with another American man in the future?

My oral English is not good, so I do not think I can call uscis to talk to them. Please help me. Now I feel I am fooled. I feel so sad that I have wasted 2 years to keep in touch with him. I feel I was so stupid to trust his sweet words about love and I was so silly to pay some money for his travel in my country. crying.gif

ohmy.gif that is really a sad story sad.gif sad.gif In my I-797 it shows my name and the petitioners name, case type, receipt number and date, notice type and the petitioners address. If he sent you a copy of I-797 it should have had those information .
sad.gif He is not so right for you. But, look at the brighter side, i know someone ( not personally though) who suffered worse than your case. Not only that the man fled and not marry her, he took with him pictures of her which he posted in an adult website and of course he gained money out of it. So, BE CAREFUL next time. Don't be fooled with lies. This thing happen for you for good reasons rose.gif Just keep praying for the right man to come to your life GOD BLESS YOU.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F and birth certificate

Before sending my packet.. I went through it like 15 times before sealing it? I even had checklist... now does that sound crazy or what... I was pretty sure I got every thing needed. But one thing I was worried about. I sent the originals of our birth certificates. it was quite original but had some smudged info from when it was printed and stamped.

When I finally sealed it and walked inside the post office.. I worried that if there was one thing that could possible delay things.. it would be that birth certificate. I was told on the phone that I was looking at 4-5 months before I would hear any word. I mailed late Nov and 3 months later.. I received the NOA2.

I assume that the info on the certificate was clear enough for them to no question it.

Hoping that the NVC has the papers and will send it on to Manila soon.

My 6 year old son is waiting anxiously to meet Zandy... and Oh.. I very much miss her hugs and kisses. My gosh.. I'm so tired of Yahoo IM hehehehehehe

Has anyone had any issues with smudged info birth certificate or passport?

If you are really worried, just request for a new birth certificate for future use biggrin.gif . Whats important is, your I-129f is approved... yes.gif .meaning, what you submitted is acceptable good.gif .Goodluck. kicking.gif

Hi all

I've started to plan for my fiancee's travel to the U.S. from Manila and I needed some help in finding a good deal on a one way ticket to the U.S. Someone mentioned to me that the airline ticketed needed to be purchase by me here in the U.S. in order for her to be able to use it. However, someone on VJ stated that I would be able to find a ticket at a much lower cost if she purchased it there in the Philippines. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on this? Thanks.

DW

I read some thread before that they purchased ticket from the Philippines because its cheaper. In my case, I have a one way ticket CONTINENTAL Airline , it is cheaper for us upon research on internet but travel tax which is P1,620 is not included. I paid the amount at the airport before departure time. If you purchased ticket in the Phillipines, the trave tax is included. If purchased on the internet, mostly, travel tax is not included. Just compare the price of the airlines and let your fiancee research on the travel agency in her hometown. So, GOODLUCK. good.gif

Hi there,

I am wondering whether it's possible to get my medical check up done while waiting for the whole K1 visa process? We've only just submitted our application. I am hoping it will help speed things up if i can get my medical done soon. Is there a certain time frame in which our medical report can be valid for?

Thanks!

no0pb.gif its not possible. In the Philippines, we can have our early medical as soon as we have our appointment letter either by mail/online. A month before the embassy interview would be best. In your case just have an executive check up just to know if everythings well with you and for personal reasons. GOODLUCK.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS156K question
QUOTE
QUOTE (bluetony @ Feb 10 2008, 12:54 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Hello there

This is my first time posting on the board. I am applying for the K1 Visa and recently received 'Packet 3' in the post. I have been filling in the forms and will soon return them to the London Consulate (I am English),

My question is this: On the DS-156K form, it says that 'the following forms must be attached in order to apply for a fiancee nonimmigrant visa'. Does this mean that I have to return these forms when I return Packet 3 to the consulate? Or do I just bring these to the visa interview?

Any help anyone could possibly give me on this matter would be gratefully received!

Thanks again

Tom

In our country DS-156K form will be brought to the embassy during the scheduled interview together with DS-156 and DS-157. And we dont have Packet 3. wink.gif How I wish I could help you. Other VJ members will gonna help you for sure yes.gif .Goodluck. good.gif
