good for you mr. londonlad!

and as for sending documents, i sent mine (from the east coast) on april first and they arrived (greater manchester) on the sixth. international flat-rate envelope up to 4lbs. i paid $12.95. there is no tracking with this option, but i have always had good luck with USPS.

clarification please:

the original of the NOA2 is not necessary to have for the london embassy interview, correct? in fact, you are unlikely to need it. i emailed a copy of it to jamie, but did not include the original. the story may be different if you are working with an expired NOA2.

and moira, relax! : ) the more energy you spend on worrying, the less you will have to devote to making sure you are doing everything correctly. your time frames are normal. sit tight.

you need tax returns AND w2's for most current year filed (2008, because your interview date is after the tax deadline). and its not a bad idea for previous year's either (say 2006, 2007).

My god..sometimes I sit here and think they are trying to drive me to be an alcoholic. If they are so concerned about ones mental state of mind.... maybe they should start thinking about the hell we all go through.

i think its an incredible stressor to relationships like those that most of us are/were in. and these relationships are already pelted with stress anyways! (distance, cultural differences, weighty decisions, etc)

but, i am of the opinion that there is some ultimate value to having to go through this. (that may be me looking for a positive, but thats how i work. and everything has a silver lining.) knowing that you and your partner can endure this sort of experience can be a source of strength. i am proud of us for the way we have gone through this. (not so proud of the fact that fear of this process prevented me for filing for a long, long time).

marie, this will soon be in the past and just a somewhat crappy memory.

and ms. magpie, that shattering glass made me laugh out loud. funny girl.

jamie had his medical on the 27th. pretty much before all of the protests had started. he was in london all weekend and said things were fine.

but, wednesday i think was a different story. the people getting hurt are not generally bystanders. they are pretty much hardcore activists/anarchists. and to be honest? im fine with them getting a little rowdy. i dont agree with vanadalism or violence of any sort. there are lots of people protesting peacefully in london too. the police are well-prepared (as are the protesters). they each play their role. (lookie) it gets on tv. people get ruffled momentarily, and then we go back to business as usual (war, mass consumption, and mass pollution! yay!).

i do hope some positives come out of this meeting. but im sorry for anyone who gets stressed by the possibility of disruption for medicals/embassy visits. itll work itself out.

32 years sounds great to me. i cant even get a full time job! (might be able to, but i like my garden center job too much.) and old guys are hot. (fine not all of them are, but i bet steve is smokin'. tongue.gif)

i do think you are in mighty fine shape for the affadavit of support, so best not to worry much more about it. check it over when you get it.

i bet you'll hear about an interview date before you know it!

plus, if Nich says youre FINE. youre FINE. end of. heh.

omg. you called me magpie, which is a HUGE compliment!! <3

32 years? really? that should probably be fine! (32 years?) what you have listed sounds pretty good, esp if he has a secure job like that. if you dont want to freak out, request the transcripts (they are free, and he can send them for free) (which is why i did it, preempting freaking out as per the usual with me). i think if you are not concerned about his income level meeting the 125% (ie he is beyond it), you should be jsut fine with what you have, if not, why not hedge your bets?

hope that helps. : )

edit: im all about the fast response, as i know how desperate it can be to be waiting to hear a response!

moira,

no notarization is needed. you are fine.

as for the tax information, you would still have time, if you even need them. tax transcripts or tax returns do not need to be submitted in original form, therefore, if you , steve, (the USC) can get them before your interview date you can scan and email or fax them to your UKC (moira) to have for the interview. i havent read through your timeline, so im not sure how much time you have. and i dont know what you are providing or your situation, so you may or may not want to have them for prior years.

edit: checked your timeline. you do have time to get past years tanscripts. its supereasy and fast!

Not sure whether I should put this on the checklist thread or here but I suppose it doesn't really matter.
Here's what I'm going to take to the interview to support the I-134. I'm concerned (paranoid) about my fiance being self employed, so I want to take lots of evidence:

I-134 original signed & notarized + copy
2008 1040 Tax returns (full 68 pages) originals + copy
2008 W2's & 1099's + copy
Self Employment letter signed by my fiance & notarized + copy
2 Employment letters originals signed & notarized + copy
Retirement account statement showing $20k+ available cash + copy
12 months bank statements + copies

Will we be ok with this? or is it a bit over the top? wacko.gif

might be over the top, but who cares? if it helps you feel more prepared, then go for it. not becoming a basketcase is well worth it.

and all those wasted trees? i will have scrap paper for the forseeable future.

question: do you just have bank statements (like what you get in the mail) or do you have letters from a bank employee that state your account details? i think the embassy would prefer to see the latter.

question: other poster up there with the greyhound.. how come you havent seen your dog? do they put them in quarantine?

and magpie, i think when you get through all this, at the very LEAST, you will get a dog. which is so nice. : )

anything for you, ms. mags. (really.)

and sdp, i think its a good exercise in patience. its interesting to see what i resort to when i cant control anything in this process. the one thing i can control is being as prepared as possible, so i research. a lot. TOO MUCH. but it keeps me busy, i feel like i am making forward progress, and best of all... we are educating ourselves about what is to come. that way, we dont spend so much time in the 'execution stage', we just do it, because we already know exactly what to do.

your interview will pop-up sooner than you expect. plus, if it doesnt, you know to chase it up with the embassy!

Mayfair
London W1K 6ZL
Telephone:0207 495 6298

ETA: "Only 20 yards from the US embassy" is what their website says!

Thank you so much, Marm...but question: it says it's open from 8:30am on their website, but my interview's at 9:00. Do they open earlier than that?

Magpie.

ms. magpie,

according to some comments (scroll down, its towards the bottom) by embassy graduates, gould's opens at 7 or 7:30 in the am. i feel like ive read that a bunch of times in embassy reviews and other threads. can anyone confirm?

m Knight shyamalan and Magpie, <sigh> ugh. thats a shame about the letter, BUT i think that you will get it sorted and get on that airplane (or 4) to alaska. you have a good month after your interview to sort anything that comes up. you are totally on the ball and will be able to articulate very clearly your situation to the CO.

its coming soon, so you will know what you are dealing with in a few days. until then, relax and do what any of us would do in your situation... take up cheerleading! <3 love it. : D

hang in there.

and for what it's worth, i think the reason we got an april interview is because we included a travel date and wedding date (though we have nothing set in stone, but id like to marry before my birthday in may. and i wanted jamie here for a wedding at the end of may) and we enclosed a letter of explanation about the requested date. i would not have known to do that had i not gleaned if from these forums, so thanks. it would be a really nice birthday present. : D

ps jamie goes for his medical in the morning. hope it all goes smoothly.

Yeah, my fiancée has been on the phone to the DoS several times a week. They say they've received all my forms and are waiting on an interview being scheduled.

Tonight she tried emailing the embassy herself without the special code, and received the standard "your message has been deleted" reply, but from what others have said, that doesn't stop them replying. Next step is calling them on the premium number if we haven't heard anything by the end of next week.

We're now waiting on the interview date. I sent back all my stuff in the middle of February, but we've heard nothing yet. It's a bit worrying that people who sent their forms back around the same time as myself (or even later) already have an interview scheduled, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when they schedule them, so we'll just have to wait. I did include a nice cover letter with mine requesting an interview in April if at all possible, but I have no idea if that'll make any difference.

have you called the DOS to make sure that you are eligible for an interview? they can tell you if your 'packet 3' was received and if it was complete. if so, then you are eligible for an interview.
