USCIS usually updates the expected processing times monthly on the 15th. we are due an update soon. i think it might not be good news judging by the slowdowns.

let's say your NOA1 date is june 9th.

normal processing is currently listed as 6 months. (at the moment, we all know that CSC usually comes in under this mark, while VSC does not.)

june 9th + 6 months = december 9th. you are, in theory, outside of normal processing times. january 9th would be 7 months.

hopefully when you call they will be able to put in a service request and get the process moving again.

even if your local office is quite busy, it seems like at least they could have set you an interview date.

anyways, good luck and keep us posted.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionhow long does I-751 take to be processed

The scrap news and the paper it printed on went to light my BBQ the very night after I read it. As for "offloading to local office", I mentioned it because mine was "Sent to local office" after I sent in my RFE in September and ever since then, no updates, no "interview" appointments, nothing what-so-ever. Called CS, checked status online EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I am not sure if it's just me having a crappy luck or what but on my end it's taking forever compare to some of you got it done in literally less than 30 days.

Oh well, if still nothing by March, N400 it is.

steve, your case is hard to understand because youve not filled out a timeline.

but reading through some of your older posts it sounds like you:

filed in june some time
got an RFE in august(?)(possibly because of a late submission of the ROC or due to a lack of evidence)
sent RFE back in september
were informed your case was being transferred to a local office

what did the RFE ask for? what did the transfer notification say?

have you attempted to put in a service request? you should nearing your 6 month mark, though seems service requests have been not handed as reliably lately. (they seem to want to you to get to 7 months. )

could just be crappy luck but seems like a service request or maybe even an infopass appt(?) would be a good idea. when you call the information line see if you can talk to a level 2 supervisor. they might be able to offer a bit more info.

Look at recent updates and you will see CSC has slowed down so much they start offloading apps to local offices.

look where?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAnyone approved without evidence of commingled finances?
have you filed taxes jointly?

one of the reasons we were sure to co-mingle financially, as they say, was because we (meaning both my alien husband and my USC self) knew that evidence of this was a requirement for our immigration process.

did your husband go so far as to have you sign a prenuptial agreement to protect his assets as well? i wonder how a prenup would be viewed by the USCIS.

sorry, sorry. not meant to cause a flare up, but honestly? comments like that deserve responses because they are rubbish.

as to the OP, i have a relationship that doesnt waste time with worrying about cheating. i know im lucky, but i dont feel like spending energy on distrust. i dont care what my fiance is doing, because if he was being naughty, he would tell me. period. and vice versa. im not saying its not a possibility, its just not an imminent problem for us. we spend our time on more positive things.

i think if you have to get to a level of comfort/trust with a person by having access to their emails, etc that is pretty awful. we are individuals. unless you plan on having your partner carry around a tape recorder (or better yet a video recorder!) to document all interactions with other humans to see if there is any infidelity (on any level, thoughts, words, looks, etc), id go with trust. it a lot simpler and a lot more respectful.

all of this is my opinion. its what works for me.

Soon thereafter, my fiance' gave me the password to her Friendster. I was FLOORED at her level of trust toward me. You may not know, but a western lady would NEVER do this, even IF she had nothing to hide. It's just a boundary we don't ever cross in our culture.

this is an utterly ridiculous statement to make about 'western women'. seriously? why would you think that its okay to paint all of the women in the western world with one paintbrush? have you met them all?

How would you feel if you had a bunch of people explaining the process to a guy trying to steal your wife from you. Immigration advice or not. IT'S WRONG.

it's the beauty of the internet. information (be it good, bad, moral, immoral, or madonna's life story) right at your fingertips!!

this is an open forum for immigration information. the OP came to the right place for that.

PhilippinesMarrying girlfriend who is in US and pending annulment

So you are trying to marry a woman that is already married. What happens when she marries you and then meets someone else? If she is willing to leave her current husband, then she could do the same to you as well. Dont be surprised if it happens. Hopefully not but with a story like that-who knows.

Your story about your love reminded me of Madonna's story. When Madonna was 19 years old she moved to New York. It was a foreign land to her as she had a dream to find success. She would find a man to bunk up with, not having to pay any bills as she worked on her music. When she was starting to find some beginning success she would shift her lift and dump whoever was around her in order to achieve what she was seeking. When Madonna found her huge success she fired all her boyfriends, managers and screwed over everyone in order to keep her success. I remember reading that about her 5 years ago and after reading your story that was the first thing that came to mind.

think it was the second, actually.

ps is there a thread for 'really awesome VJ posts'? because the madonna gem is exactly that.

Well our visa journey is over. Tom broke down at the weekend and said that he couldn't get married. He wasn't ready at all and that he still had unresolved issues to deal with which he doesn't want to put me through the misery of. He said the pressure of the wedding and visa process didn't help him either. To be honest I was doubting the whole marriage thing too. I am also posponing my trip until he gets settled and has a long hard think about what he wants. He's also having all sorts of problems with the delivery of his furniture and his pay.

I think we are just going to end up keeping the long distance going for a while, going backwards and forwards for trips. We'll end up getting married when we want to and not because we have to. It's a shame there is no other way. I am not keeping my life on hold though. I have done that for 2yrs, I have sacrificed relationships with friends and missed other opportunities. I'm going to get some independance by moving out of the family home and I'm also going to call up all the friends I haven't seen in months.

I probably won't be around much as reading this forum is painful and reminds me of what we could have had. I wish you all the best.

aww. kiddo. im sorry.

im proud of you guys though. thats a hard decision to make. why push it when its not the right time?

(ive waited 5 yrs with jamie because i thought waiting was the right thing to do. it was hard. he wasnt able to really have a normal life. he has put a lot of things on hold. i was able to make a life and still have him long-distance. it was a long wait, but we know both now it is the right time.)

i think its very brave of you to have the perspective that i can hear (and have always heard) in your voice. and good for you for having a plan of attack already! yeah! go back and find those friends. ask for support, enjoying getting out on your own and finding out who you are! it will be great. and you and tom will be able to relax and not waste energy on this exhausting process.

please do let us know how you are doing. you are a lovely person and i will miss your posts. <laura-withdrawl>

keep your head up and remember you are young and smart and that you can do anything you want!

I know when I saw Josue in December the first several hours were that way - is this real? It's been so long! You look a little different! But it does take time to adjust and I am sure that with the good foundation you two have you will be able to recover quickly.

jamie and i see each other twice a year for 6 weeks at a time. weve been together for five years. (the LAST 'visit' is in the past. i went in jan-feb. it is great to know that we will never have to do that AWFUL, messy, emotionally exhausting goodbye thing EVER, ever again. hallelujah!)

we are lucky enough to have figured out a way so that we had the chance to live together. we spent a year in scotland and we co-habitated very, very well. i LOVE living with him. he is tidy and neat and willing to share. i love how domestic he is. he is a brilliant partner and i am so very much looking forward to living with him again.

sometimes, when i see him for the first time, i am very shy. he does look a little different, his hair is longer or shorter. but i always remember when we hug and i smell him. i ADORE that sensation. and then after an hour or so, everything else falls into place.

I hope he's looking forward to me coming! He's said he has. Unfortunately we haven't been able to speak much about it the past month as he's been without the internet a lot. He just moved in on Tuesday and he has no connection yet. He has no phone either.

The last two trips I took to see him, once to Bahrain and once to the US were fine, like we'd never been apart, it was just this one. However it was a longer separation this time than it was between the other trips which I don't think helped.

thats sounds like things just havent been easy (distance, lines of communication, privacy, time, etc) for you to have the relationship. so these two months will be a breeze! when you will have all of those things (closeness, face to face communication, phonecalls, privacy, tons of time, plus A SHED!), things will be a lot simpler adn a lot less effort.

cant wait to see the house with some furniture!

There's some more photo's here http://www.grandmarq...mages/New House

It's on the outskirts of Montgomery, about 5-10 min north of Gunter (part of Maxwell-Gunter AFB).

He's renting it for $650 a month, I'm not sure whether that's good or bad as I don't really know the area but I imagine rental prices have increased due to people unable to get morgages to buy.

Im hoping our issues are nothing to worry about. Basically when he was here last month we were very distant with each other, it's like we were strangers. I think we had got so used to not being with each other that when we were back together it felt wierd, like he was invading my personal space. I still live with my parent's so it probably felt cramped. He was here 10 days and I don't think that was long enough to get back into being a proper couple. I told my boss all about it and he said he and his wife went through the exact same thing when he came back from the Falklands after 9mths (he's ex military). A couple of other people said the same so I'm hoping it's just temporary. Tom's been under a lot of stress too, he hated Bahrain by the end and just wanted to go back to the US after being 4 years away.

oh my god. thats a good price, no matter where you are. thats fabulous.

i think that what youve said, the stress sounds really normal. living with parents, it can be tough to fully relax. and if hes not been happy in bahrain, im sure that contributed. being back in the states will allow him to devote more energy to the things that make him happy and therefore probably everything will be easier. the personal space issue i can understand. its a big change from never to all of the time.

is he looking forward to you coming?

i just think it sounds like this solution is a great idea. and i think you guys will be able to settle in to being 'you' on fairly neutral ground. (american soil, yes, but still...) a new home, a new place, a new life.

sounds like a recipe for success!

now im going to look at the pictures. (i LOVE pictures. and im nosy!)

edit: OH! i like it even better. it has a lot of things i lust after:

a grill
a SHED!
a gas hob
a window in the shower/bath (obsessed with this, dont know why)
a laundry room

great great great!

I'M looking forward to it, laura!!! that house is adorable! jamie and i would fit right in to a little place like that. Nicaragua doesn't even have a packet three. Seems like an odd step. We just emailed with the Embassy directly once we received approval. Glad to see more progress.

oh, that sounds so simple!

uk filers can contact the embassy in london by email BUT only after calling them (on a phoneline that costs $2.50ish/minute!) to get a email code (that changes weekly!) so that you can email them. i think that is pretty awful and inefficient.

its like the love to add extra steps to make it more arduous. I don't even see how that helps them?

someone said that this decreased availability of embassy/consulate employees was put in place after the attacks in london on 7 july 2005.

but i find it insulting as an american citizen that there is not a FREE email address available for the US embassy. they are too busy to deal with us, yet they are the only ones that can answer many specific questions. thus far, i have been sticking to checking my status with the DOS. the operators there are really very pleasant and seem to genuinely want to help you. a very nice change. thanks DOS!

Sorta makes me wonder why they have a K1 visa at all?

people who enter on a k-1 visa, and then marry. then you adjust status (and file for EAD and AP). people frequently get EAD and AP with in 2 months. the conditional green card takes a but longer (though usually less than a year. maybe 6 months?) but you are authorized to work once you get the EAD.

Just wondering how the PoE would take somebody married to a USC with a USC child turning up on a Student Visa... Might be an interesting conversation.

CPB/INS/USCIS isnt aware that shes married to a USC since she never AOSed after her change of status. wonder if there will even be questions at the POE about marital status.

also, just because she has/may have a valid F1 doesnt mean she can use it to enter with the intent to immigrate, which is essentially what she would be doing. thats fraud. do not commit fraud. no matter the circumstance. she has been give a multiple entry visa to enter to STUDY.

Bz, dont get upset with the answers/comments you get. itd be much worse if you were hearing these things for the first time from an immigration official at the POE with a sick baby in your arms. knowledge is power. arm yourself to the teeth.

F1 is a non immigrant visa.

meaning that entering the US on an F1 visa with the intention to immigrate (ie AOS based on marriage to a USC) is immigration fraud? im just thinking out loud here.
