US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPaying the fee for the interview

Is this in addition to the $340 I-129F fee?

Yes
You now have to pay the $350 over the phone to the Embassy in London.
I never knew this until earlier this week either.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPaying the fee for the interview
Hi all,
I have been told that the fee $350 for the interview at the London Embassy needs to be paid in advance, either sent by post or paid over the phone with a credit/debit card at £1.20 per minute, but I have just read this: Immigrant Visa Applicants pay the fee to the Embassy cashier on the day of the visa interview. Fees may be paid in cash - sterling or dollar equivalent; by International Money Order or Bankers Draft; Credit Card - Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, Discover or American Express; or Debit Card with the Visa logo. The Embassy does not accept any other credit or debit cards, or personal checks, This is on the government website: http://london.usemba...as/iv_fees.html
Can someone advise me which it is please.
Many Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionJust to help myy friends along the way
[quote name='Nicole-N-Nattoy' timestamp='1296156861' post='4436163']
A lady from the embassy called Natoy and told him she was emailing packet 3. In her email she said to send in DS-156, DS-156k, DS-157, DS-230. THAT IS WRONG!! You are to only send in DS-230pt. 1 for and interview date.

Natoy then went and applied for a non-impediment to show he has never been married. Runs around 8,000JA.

After we sent in the DS-230pt1 there was another problem becuase in the email it also told us to send to Monroe RD. NO WE WERE TO SEND IT TO OLD HOPE RD. So Nattoy went and filled out another DS-230 and sent it to the right address.

Then a week went by and still no packet 4. So Nattoy emailed kingstonivinfo@state.gov. He put are case number on the subject line which will get you a faster response. Then BAM!!! 10 minutes later they emialed us packet 4!!!!!

There are three medical facilities authorized to perform examinations for immigrant visas. Have your exam done at the location most convenient for you. You must call ahead to schedule a specific appointment time with the doctor of your choice. You will pay the clinic?s fee when you arrive

So now Nattoy has everything he needs for his interview. Except the medical and police certificate. He is going to kingston 2maro to get his police certificate and fingerprints which will cost around 4,000 JA. He has scheduled a medical which will cost 100US at the door and aroud 50us for each additional shots he may need. Which shouldn't be much becuase he has his past vaccination records.

Closer to the interview he will get the passport pics he needs and I also sent him 5 passport pics just incase. He will also pay his visa fees at the apprpriate bank. I sent him everything he needs from me so I think after he gets police certificate and medical and pays fees we will be good to GO:) Hope this has helped.

Thanks for this, very helpful
Just one question regarding : _Photographs: Six (6) color photographs that show a full front view of facial features. Does this mean any colour photos or passport style photos, and if passport style would they be US or UK size?
Many Thanks

Hey Jason, I don't mean to be rude and contradict you, but that's not the case at the London embassy. I think each embassy have different procedures.
For immigrant visas at the London embassy they won't schedule your interview now unless you've pre-paid for the visa over the phone.

Thanks for the reply my friend,
I just wasn't sure about the receipt
Thanks

Proof of what paid for?? If about visa, send a check to NVC. After the check is cleared take the transaction from the bank to interview. But honestly, i dont know you need to show it, BECAUSE during NVC stage u already paid them, and NVC should give notes on your case to the consulate. Paid is paid, they all internally know that, no need for proof. And i dont think they would rip you off by excusing u did not pay either.

I have been informed that you need proof of receipt or you are not allowed into the Embassy for the interview

Could someone enlighten me on this please.

Hi all,
I have filled the next batch of forms needed to send to the Embassy in London even though I have not recieved any paperwork or case number yet, but it shouldn't be long. I was wanting to know if I can fill in the DS-156, as it says to fill in then click Continue at the bottom of the sheet. I don't want to fill this form in if I need something else such as case number on the next page. I have all the other forms filled in that I need for the interview and medical bits sorted in advance, but not sure about the DS-156.
Many Thanks

When I went down for the medical I took the 6.30amj or so train from Huddersfield to LKX and returned on the 8.30pm or so same route. I was home by midnight. For the interview I did the same times but the return was from Euston for some reason. Hope that helps you with planning times.

Thanks so much for your reply,
obviously I cannot plan anything regarding times, but I want to plan the best route

From King's Cross, I would get off at Oxford Circus or change at Oxford Circus to the Victoria line and go to Bond Street, which is the closest tube stop.

Here's a map I made showing the Embassy and medical exam and tube stations are marked. You can zoom in and out or move the map around.

You're not thinking of doing the medical and interview the same day are you?

Thanks for the reply :)
And thanks for the link showing the points of interest. Oh and no I wasn't doing the medical and interview the same day. I just wanted to cut the cost down as well as not having to have many days off work. I was hoping to travel to London on each day and travel home the same days.
Thanks again

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTravel to the Embassy by train (London)
Hi all,
I just wanted a quick reply by someone that has travelled by train to their medical and interview appointments. I am travelling from Yorkshire by train (when I get my dates confirmed that is) and wondered what is the best way.
I was thinking of travelling to Kings Cross, then travel by tube to Green Park (I think, using the Victoria line) as this looks like I could walk it to both the interview and medical.
I would be so grateful if anyone could reply, I don't want to stop overnight either. I would like to do it in just one day as it would cut down the cost and time away from work.
Many Thanks

I would certainly expect you to make that wedding date. I think there is a space on the forms where you can write if you have any travel plans etc., so when you send off packet 3 make sure you include mention of the intended wedding date.

Thanks Joanna
We have some emails confirming the venue and the minister, as well as the guest and invite lists.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview appointment London

Hi Dave

I am waiting on my interview - same day as ur medical 11th March. London know wont schedule any interview until the embassyhave recived your med results. It takes 4 working days from ur medical for them to recieve it - and then they book you in and write to you with your alotted time. My medical was on the 10th February and I have been booked for interview on the 11th March.

Dont forget u know have to pay for the visa in advance ( again they wont schedule until uve paid) and get packet 3 sent asap as it takes a few weeks for them to log it!

Good luck - any questions let me know

Thanks for this,
How long after your medical did it take to get your interview date through. It's just that we have 21st of May as the wedding date. We can supply proof at the interview. I knew about pre-paying over the phone and taking the receipt to the embassy too.
Thanks

Hi all, sorry to bother you.
I have my medical booked for 11th March at 9.50 in London. I was wanting to know do I have to wait to book my interview appointment. I don't have my details from NVC yet, but it shouldn't be long. I am waiting for my fiancee to send me her tax details and proof of income and other bits needed. I was wondering if I could book an appoint ment for lets say the end or middle of April.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionChange of address

The DS-2001 asks for the mailing address for the appointment letter, but you decide where your passport and sealed envelope get sent to, on the way out of your visa interview, via the courier service.

Thanks for that
I know I put my former address on the paperwork, but wasn't sure if I could change it

Hi all
I have just moved out of my rented home, I re-directed my mail to my brothers where I am living until I hopefully move to America. I have just had my medical today but sent off my former address details on the forms needed by the embassy. Can I just update them when I go for my interview. On one of the forms I sent to the embassy it asks where do you want the visa to be sent and I didn't know if its ok or if I need to sign for the visa as its sent by courier service.
Thanks in anticipation

Hi everyone
I asked a question a while ago, but now I cannot find the answers given, Sorry.
I have just had my medical, and was wanting to make sure I had everything for the interview. I have sent off all the forms to the embassy, including a new letter of intent and the checklist. I also printed off confirmation of our wedding date in May.
My USC fiancee has sent me the tax details, the support paperwork, letter from her work and other relevant info. I was wondering if there is anything else I need to take with me besides: 3 U.S style passport photos, my passport, my divorce paperwork, my birth certificate. I am taking some recent photos of us together and some printed emails and Facebook posts too.
Many Thanks

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow long does the medical take?

Just curious how long the medical takes once you get there?

It takes less than an hour.
I had mine in February and arrived there 30 minutes early. It is just a straight forward medical. X-ray first, then a 10 minute exam by the doctor after a few questions. You sign the paperwork, pay for the exam then that's it.

I recommend keeping both myself .. Which for your children may be a big plus.. My mother came from Ireland But I grew up in the states.. And I have some painful memories as a child. being. told I was not Irish by other kids because of not having Irish surname

Cheers,
Not planning on children, as we are both well into our 40's lol.
I think having both names would be the best way to go, and have her surname as mine too, double barrelled.

Of course it is possible.
Marriage licences in some states have "New Names" sections where you state what last name you want to use after marriage. After marriage, just simply use marriage certificate to prove name change and when you apply for new documents, AOS, etc.

Thank you so much
Will I have to send off my current passport, as this is registered in my original name in U.K.

Hi all,
I have been wondering if it is at all possible to change my surname (male UKC) to my American fiancee's name. This may sound strange and unusual but I want to do this as she has a wonderful family and want to be part of it 100%. I haven't mentioned it to my fiancee, but need to know how to do it. I fly over from U.K next week and marry on May 21st and was wanting to know if I needed to apply before we marry or after.

Can you please do a timeline so that we can use your case to determine when our interview might be.Like most people have said your presence is not required the only bank statement they are interested in is yours since you are the sponsor and that is not something they are really concerned with.id rather have 3 of your most recent pay stubs, W-2 and tax transcripts. So long as you meet the poverty guidelines you will not even require a co- sponsor..I have heard that you will not even be questioned as part of the interview. They may let you in the building once you tell them you are a US citizen but you will not be a part of the interview process. Can you give us an idea of how the interview went?

In Ghana you pick the packet 3 and 4 on the same day , and as for the time for the interview, you have to be looking at 4 to 5 month from the day of picking your packets. I am waiting until July for my interview

I think they mean how long after the interview does it take for the visa to be issued. If thats the case i have heard three weeks to a month although in some cases it has taken considerably longer. There arepeople have been told to come back several times and have not still received it well over ther one month period.
