It is changing in October though. I did mention in this thread that i read it wrong. I thought it was July for everything originally.

yeah the carry on part of that is totally fine. I agree with that because it annoys me when there is no room for my little rucksack and you see people with suitcases in the overhead locker.

ooops

I just reread that and noticed that the checked baggage doesn`t change until October.

United KingdomAttention British Airways passengers
I have been looking into flying to Atlanta in July for good. So i decided that i might find the price of excess baggage and take a third bag with me this time. It is after all a very long trip i am going on. So i looked on British Airways website to see if it had an idea of the cost for excess bags.

I learned that they are changing the rules on baggage, and doing it in July.

Hand baggage allowances are changing from 5 July 2006

All passengers will be able to carry one standard-sized bag and one briefcase, laptop computer bags or equivalent on all flights.
The maximum size of the bag, 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22in x 18in x 10in) has been set in line with the UK Department for Transport recommendations.
Passengers must be able to lift their bag unaided into the aircraft overhead locker.
Briefcases, laptop computer bags or equivalent must fit under the seat in front.

Free checked baggage allowances
A single allowance system based on the number of bags that can be checked in will be introduced from 11 October 2006.

FIRST, Club World, Club Europe and World Traveller Plus
Passengers will be able to check two bags into the aircraft hold free of charge.

World Traveller*, Euro Traveller and UK Domestic
Passengers will be able to check one bag into the aircraft hold free of charge.

United KingdomAny well located phone boxes near the embassy?
Hi

Quick question. It might sound crazy to ask but are there any good quiet area phone boxes around the embassy? Anybody know a good one?

After the interview i plan to call my wife, hopefulyl with great news. So i need a good clean phone box that works and has it`s sound barriers intact. Am i asking a lot here?

United Kingdomgoign to visit fiance in UK
It is a risk you take when travelling during the process. My wife was refused entry at Gatwick when she was my fiance. They asked me loads of questions that i didn`t know the answer to(on the phone). We had not been engaged long and i had not been goign out with her family so my knowledge was a bit uncertain. Then on the other hand if you get caught lying then that is bad too. If you go with truth then be sure to take anything that shows you are going back to America. good luck.

United KingdomU.S. citizen or Permanent Resident
Well i will probably go with dual citizenship. Do i have to just update my UK passport for this?

I will leave the voting to those who think it matters who you vote for.

It is not apathy though. It is lack of anything worth my vote, nothing to pick between any of the parties.

I am just curious how many people from the U.K. have ,or intend to, become U.S. citizens.

I am not sure to be honest if either really matters in the big scheme of things.

So i wondered what are the benefits? I don`t mean in terms of financial really but if there are financial benefits i would like to know. ha.

No charge for saturday but then the basic charge was £13.50 at the embassy so i would not expect to pay more unless it was delivered in a golden envelope.

United KingdomWhat happens if your visa is delivered while you are at work?
They tried to deliver while i was at work today and left a card. It had a number to call and the website address to arrange redelivery. So i booked it for saturday online and was able to give my mobile number(a few people had the problem that in the embassy you have to have your phone off and that is the only way i know my number )

I would have got it delivered at work but i am not at a fixed location. So hopefully i get my visa on saturday. Incidentally it says on the website and the card they left that they accept bank cards as i.d. My only non card i.d. is my passport which of course the courier will have, so it better be o.k.

Hi

I had my interview yesterday(monday) and took today(tuesday) off of work hoping that the visa would come today, as it has not arrived yet i am starting to wonder if it will be another day this week. I can`t really afford to take any longer off of work so i wondered if people have been in this situation and what happens in such a situation?

thanks.

United KingdomPhone number for London USA embassy
I would say never phone them. Write to them via snail mail if all else fails but callign them is pretty much pointless from my experience. I got a human being briefly who sent me straight back to a recording on the actual number and the other number was a Glasgow call centre who could not help me at all. Email is best way to contact them.
