No medical yet. As i understand it i get told how to arrange the medical once i get the interview date. I have been told by London that they have my case and i can expect an interview date to be allocated in the next 6 weeks. I emailed them again and i am now waiting on a reply even if it is something like "i told you once now leave us alone".

Don't forget that you don't have to have the shots if you don't want them. You can get titres to prove you have immunity if you prefer not to have any more chemicals pumped through your body. I paid for the titres (about 60 quid in total) and my immunities were so high the nurse said I would have probably had a very nasty and serious reaction to repeat jabs. My chicken pox scar, that is clear on my face, was not accepted by the panel physician...unfortunately

Seriously though what is it? I don`t want jabs(not because of needles just because of the fact you never know what they are giving you and it seems unnatural to me.

I called my doctor today and it would seem they have only got records for polio and tetanus but both of those have expired. Should i have my medical and then get shots that they say i need? Or do i need to get a record of not having any shots? Is there any point in saying i have nothing? Seems odd that they are saying that. I thought vaccines lasted forever(at least some).

I should get packet 4 any day now so i am not going to go for a medical until i get that i guess. I only just found out you can arrange it beforehand. I just wondered what shots i need and if i can get anything ready. i need to ask my GP what shots i have got i guess.

Does anybody know what happens if my birth certificate is not "long". It is the original but not "long".

Also i am looking fo r alist of required shots and any idea if i would have to pay a gp?

Any advice is much needed as i am no good at official stuff.

I have looked into this and found a site that shrink wraps your boxed stuff on pallets and then puts them in containers. They charge by the volume and it was like 600 quid for 2 cubic metres and that was the minimum. I might check out this other place though.

I am not good at interview type situations. I feel so much pressure on me.
with a CR1 you dont get a pack 3.....all you will need to take is passport, passport pic, you will need your LND# to book it

Can anybody help with the medical number to call?

I need to arrange my medical and my letter from the embassy appears to be lost. I figure it is about time i got my ####### in gear and set up my medical at least. So can you tell me the number please somebody?

Also i wanted to get titres but i don`t know if i will even get enough time to organise my vaccinations through the doctor surgery let alone find out about titres(i can`t even find anythign about that online).

So i am probably just going to get all the damn shots again and pay way too much for things i don`t want.

So can anybody help with the number? time is ticking

Well i didn`t get a packet 3 either but that was because i am on a CR1 visa. I was also told i could not get my medical without my packet 4 but it seems they were persuaded in my case at least.

Well today has been my busy day for Visa stuff. I went to the doctor`s and got my TD and MMR(which baffled the community nurse but there ya go). She was reading up on MMR while i was there and she read that America had all but eradicated Measles or something. I guess they don`t want it coming back. ha.

Then i called the embassy and spent aabotu 10 minutes and lots of money on the run around with them on various premium rate numbers. I got through to an operator at one point who transferred me back to a machine before i could plead to her humanity.

So then i came back to the compute to email them again. I am also going to write to them i think. They need to send out the packet again.

Then i called for the medical again. This was something i have tried before and i was told i needed the packet 4. I was not optimistic since i still don`t have packet 4 but i kept talking and the girl on the phone seemed to back down and changed "you can`t" into "we don`t encourage" or words to that effect. I pointed out that i had my interview soon and needed to get the medical booked at least. She said how there were things in the packet that she had to go through etc etc. I explained that i had my case number and all my shots were sorted. So she booked me an appointment. Hooray.

So i just need a passport photo and directions. Should not be a problem.

So yeah monday i am off to London.

Hopefully this is near the end of the journey.

I swear they make it as hard as they can.

Oh yeah and i called the agency i am currently working for(i do agency work as it allows frequent trips to USA etc) and they offered to write me a reference which was nice of them as i had not even thought about it.

Firstly isn`t it cool that this disease is not available int he U.K.?

on a serious note though.

On mondya i am meeting with the community nurse at my local GP and she was very helpful and said she could sort out my Tetanus and said i should bring anything else i might need and she would see what she could do. I figure anythign she does will save me money. So it says on the vaccine chart that i need MMR and Chicken POX.

If Chicken Pox is unavailable int he U.K. then how do they expect us to get it? and what usually happens?

Is this a dumb question?

Euro`s idea was good. Just book the return flight for as far in the future as they let you and make it a time when flights are cheaper so then you can maybe save too.

scratch the above as it seems they charge a fair bit more for such long times between flights. It is actually cheaper to get a one way ticket in my case at least.

YEah cost of flights is the worst thing about getting a visa in summer. I usually just look on expedia but no doubt there are other places. I usually check all different dates etc until i find the cheapest.

The chip should nto effect the ATM though so you should be able to just get cash and spend that. I would suggest somebody with a non chipped card performs an experiment for all non chipped people.

Yes we all carry the mark here in the U.K. now. I found it odd that it had not reached America yet but i am sure it is coming. Just be sure to resist them if they want you to put one in your body.

Getting to the medical will be a big test for me as i am useless at travelling to London. I have no idea how long it will take me but i am like you in that i won`t want to be remotely close to being late. On the other hand i will hate beign early.

Just wondering because i have managed to book my medical for next monday but i dont have my packet 4 so i have no map and no other details. The medical place was reluctant to even give me the appointment but i managed to get one.

The problems i have are that people seem to have been to different places. The medical tales that are pinned in this forum do not seem to be Basil Street and so i wondered if anybody could shed any light on this and pass on their experiences etc.

Hopefully it is nearly the end of my journey and then i will stop asking questions. Thanks for all your help so far though.

It seems easy enough to find Basil Street fromt he Knightsbridge Tub eStation so i will hopefully navigate the Underground easily enough aswell.
