K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFE FOR CRIMES NEVER COMMITTED!!!!
QUOTE (archie07 @ Nov 6 2007, 09:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I agree with Rebecca on this one. You received an RFE and havn't even consulted the lawyer. Why take a chance with something so important when one petition has already been denied? Seek legal advice and have the lawyer sort thru this before you get denied again.

It's easy to say consult the lawyer but it's hard to find one that can finally help, personally I hate lawyers that don't do their job the way they suppose to.
I always like to take care of the stuff by my self, I don't trust just anybody.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDenied entry VWP
Well, I must say it was a piece of cake for me to get a B2 tourist visa ( I called the embassy, got the interview few days later and 10 minutes with the CO was enough) because I was studying and I had a reason to come back. I was also traveling with my back then boyfriend and now fiancé. They asked me if we are planning to marry, I said no.
My visa is still valid, but since I'm done with studying and just stuck in doing nothing because it doesn’t make sense to start working because I don't won't to say in 1 month sorry I quit for Immigration officer there I don't have any reason to come back. Sure, I can try but what are the chances...So, VWP country or B2 visa once you get there they decide if they are going to let you in or you're flaying back home. You just need to convince them that you have a good reason to come back especially during the K1 process.

This isn't true. It's not important what country you're from or where you lived, it's not going to delay your petition. I lived my whole life in Croatia and it didn't delay our K1 petition smile.gif unless 20 years ago you where a member of a communist party laughing.gif
I was also getting my tourist visa (ok, it's not immigrant visa) in Frankfurt (I lived in Germany for 2 years doing my Masters) and all they asked me is what am I doing in Germany and few other easy questions and gave me the visa.
Who ever told you that doesn't know what he's talking about.

...I swear to God: I've never been a member of a communist party! laughing.gif

How about that dual Citizenship issue? Any ideas about that?

Thanks a bunch, guys!!!

As I know they don't care but I'm not sure if you'll be able to keep both of them if you're going to take US citizenship.

United KingdomHas anyone thought about going the other way???
QUOTE (teachmehistory @ Sep 19 2007, 11:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey UK Board.....

So I am just wondering if anyone here pondered going the other way, as in moving to the UK to be with your spouse/fiance and what made you decide to have them move to the US? My fiance and I debated at length over this and I still have days where I am so frustrated with the US process I am tempted to go the other way. Does anyone know anything about what the process is like to immigrate there vs here? what were your reasons for doing it the US side? Just thought I would put this out there on a day where I am loathing the waiting and in agony from being apart from my love.

Thanks to all responses

Actually, we were talking about us living in Croatia, but the only job he could get here without nowing language really good is as an English teacher, maybe. I could get a great job but me supporting us wouldn't work for a longer period of time and I'm sure any man could confirm that? But if official language in Croatia would be English right away!

United KingdomU.S. Politics
I have to say I was shocked how much bashing and dearty ads there is here. I was so disapointed with the media. It's not supprising people don't now what's going on outside of the states. I met people that didn't now there are other countries fighting in Afganistan except US. I always watch BBC World news, reminds me of European news, you get the information and form your own opinion. I don't like Republicans because of the way they do campaing and they supposed to be christians. I'm a catholic and I don't think Good would agree with the way they are trying to win. I think McCain is ok but I doubt he would ever stand up against his party. They need to loose this elections to change. I like Obama but I don't like ultraliberals. I can't stand Nancy Pelosi. I agree with Obamas policies about economy, education and health care and that is what should count. I respect him and the way he's runing his camaign. I don't like McCains standpoint on education where everybody should be able to choose the school. It would cause big problems in a sense that again rich people are going to be able to get into the good schools, and bad schools wouldn't improve. If McCain will run this country the way he runs his campaign Good help us. Just my 2 cents.

At the embassy in Zagreb they told me that I don't need a translation of a German police record since it's says "Keine Eintragung". So, I saved a little bit of money but I'm not sure if I need a translation of it when I apply for AOS. I obtained a German police record while I was in Germany and it took a week, which is great. In Croatia I got one in 10 minutes yes.gif

Nives,

I'll also need a police clearance from Zagreb as I spent 4 years in Croatia....I called kaznenu evidenciju and they said that they can issue the "izvadak iz kaznene evidencije" right away.

Do you know if they are as quick at the "opcinski sud" to issue the "potvrdu o nekaznjavanju"??

Yes, you get them right away. It took me 2 hours to get my birth certificate and police clereances ("izvadak iz kaznene evidencije" and "potvrdu o nekažnjavanju") on 3 different locations in the city. If you have any other questions you can PM me.

Hvala smile.gif

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionEasy Countries For Fiance & Spouse Visas
This is an interesting discussion :) . I really don’t have enough information in order to say anything considering this topic but my questions is; is it maybe that the most visa applications and with that also a lot of visa fraud comes from the countries with big population? For example I’m from Croatia where lives 4, 5 million people and I’ve found just few people from Croatia in this forum (they are all already in the States)? That would be my explanation why is there a lot of visa applications from some countries or?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionChanging the embassy from Frankfurt, Germany to Zagreb, Croatia

nivesito,

My best advice would be to leave the consulate the same (Frankfurt) and just visit your friends. Make sure you have/order the things you'll need for the interview that takes time to get; Police Certificate, etc. so you don't have to scramble at the last minute. Take advantage of your trip back - good time to get any hard to get documents you might need in the future.

Vielen Dank!

Actually, I got all the papers already in June (really optimistic) . It took me actually one day in Zagreb to get them all (talking about efficiency).
I think I’ll need to get my vaccination pass and take the missing shots (I know I don’t have Td) but I need to check the rest.

I remembered something else. I know I don’t need that for an interview but do I have to obtain proof that I’ve never been married before in order to be able to get married in the states. It seems to me like a thing they would ask for?

Uf, I have constant feeling that I’m going to forget something that may be important.

Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing, especially when my mom send me a postcard from the coast :)
I hate German weather! And I can see all my friends again. I haven’t seen them since June. I’m going to have to get use to the fact that once when I’m in the States it is not going to take one hour flight to Zagreb but everything for love!
My honey left two days ago to DC and since we were never apart all I do is crying. He spoiled me, but when I see what other people have to put up with I feel a little bit better.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionChanging the embassy from Frankfurt, Germany to Zagreb, Croatia
Hi,

I’m new here and everything I’ve found was really helpful.

I have only one question if somebody has experience with it. On our K1 petition we stated that everything should go thru embassy in Frankfurt, Germany considering I’m doing my Master here. I’m almost done and want to go back to Croatia and wait for an interview there because obviously I thought it’s not going to take so long for visa to be approved.
Has anybody experience in changing the embassy. My fiancé cold NVC and they said it is hard to change that.
I can also do medical and interview in Frankfurt because my sister is there and plain ticket to DC is cheaper from Frankfurt :D
I’m not only sure if is more complicated considering I don’t have any reason to be in Germany any more (except as a tourist).

I appreciate any advice or experience shared

Thank you everybody for congratulations. I guess it was so fast because everybody else where for tourist/student/business visas and just me and another lady for an immigrant visa which is handled separately from other forms of visas. I've heard there is a really low percentage of people from Croatia asking for immigrant visas. The embassy in Zagreb was doing visas for Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia. Now just for Slovenia and Croatia.

I'm so glad for you and wish you all the best for your new life and the upcoming wedding!!

Do you already have your wedding dress?
I have already picked one but am hesitant to buy it as I'm quite superstitious as
we don't even have the NOA2 yet.... mellow.gif

Do you guys plan on having two weddings like we do? One in the US, of course, and then we are planning on having a nice traditional church wedding in Croatia with my family and friends, once I'm allowed to travel out of the US. I hope this will be somewhat next summer ....hopefully.
My fiance has to get baptized extra for that, and he said he'd do it for me!
(...ako treba ja cu mu biti krstena kuma ...)

My folks in Croatia just can't wait for the "American wedding ", as they call it....

I'm very happy for you, Nives! Keep us posted! biggrin.gif

Thank you Rahela!!!

We are planing on having two weddings also, first civil wedding on December 15th just so we can apply for AOS ASAP. For that I'm planing to buy some simple dress and next year probably in October (depend on green card) also church wedding for family and friends but in Dominican Republic. I was thinking maybe to do it in Croatia (Zagreb or Dubrovnik) but considering everybody (especially my girlfriends smile.gif)seems to like the idea about going to the Dominican Republic we decided to do it there. John is catholic and has all the sacraments.
That's really nice of your fiance to get baptized extra for the wedding!!
John and I attended my cousin "Croatian wedding" in June and he loved it (eating, drinking and dancing the whole night laughing.gif ) He couldn't believe that in Croatia dinner is at 8 pm than celebrating until 5 am and in between every 2 hours we get more food. That was so funny.
I hope you'll get your NOA2 soon.
Where's your fiance from?
