I may be wrong but I'm sure you can reschedule the interview at the embassy smile.gif That might solve a few problems. That, or wait to send in your packet 3 docs.

I keep telling myself that I crossed all the Ts and dotted the Is, but I'm more concerned every day about our case ending up in the administrative processing pit that seems to be trapping a surprising number of people. When this whole fiasco is over it will be a good day.

ANNA GOT HER INTERVIEW SCHEDULED DECEMBER 8!! How soon will the visa be issued (assuming all goes well....)? (Remember that December 10 is a public holiday in Thailand.)

Dang, that's speedy. Hopefully I get that fast of a turnaround too lol. What strings do I gotta pull?!

Thank you for posting the sites. It seems like a one-way ticket for my fiancee from Bangkok to Washington Dulles is going to run around $1,300. I wonder if it would be worth her asking in Bangkok to see if she could get it a little cheaper.

I would not be surprised at all if she could find it cheaper locally. In fact, that's my plan when my fiancee is ready to come to the states with me. We'll buy 2 one-ways out of bkk.

I almost always use united.com Purchased a month or so in advance, I can usually get a round trip ticket from Yuma to Bangkok for about 1100. I've noticed that prices seem to be cheapest 30-45 days before you want to leave. I don't know why, maybe itineraries aren't finalized? As previously mentioned, vayama puts a smile on my face as well.

Any of you guys that go back to Thailand on a semi regular basis to see your fiancee/wife, find that there is an adjustment period for the first few days your back in LOS? That it may take her a period of time to get "re-acquainted". Even though you talk on the phone a few times a day.....

Just curious, I am leaving to go back to Thailand for the 6th time, on 12/3, to see my wife. I've been doing this every 2 1/2 months or so now. (you can see my schedule in my time line below). I may be seeing this pattern....not sure.....

just some thoughts.........

I'm going back on the 3rd as well, arriving in BKK from LAX at 2345 on the 4th. Maybe we'll run into each other tongue.gif

"re acquainted" lol. The quotes make it seem like you're inferring something dirty. Other than the fact she wants to be overly smothering for the first couple of days, it hasn't been any different in my visits. You have to remember that you've each been running your own show for the past X amount of time too, so that change is probably what you're noticing.

The highest peak I've been on is Mt. Ranier in my home state of Washington. (number 21 smile.gif ) There's a lot to take in there. In Thailand, we climbed a 'mountain' near her home that had no trails except for the first couple hundred feet or so where the cows went. That took almost a whole day but according to the GPS we only covered 2000 feet. It was almost too miserable having to deal with the brush lol. The picture doesn't do it much justice smile.gif It was so weeded in that this was the best shot I could get. I pulled the hammock out of my pack, strung it up, and we spent the night!

No tigers for us luckily tongue.gif

You would be assuming correctly. I have never been to a hospital in a metro area for elective treatment, just a small clinic when I had tonsillitis because I couldn't sleep it hurt so bad. I think it was about 8 bucks to see the doctor, lol. He was good at his job, but the facility looked straight out of a Dr. Quinn set. The baggage check is a good idea imo because I know of several times where people have fallen asleep in the waiting area and had stuff pilfered only to wake up and find their purse missing, etc. I'm usually out in the mountains hiking, snapping off bamboo shoots, picking mushrooms, and fending off the curious snakes with big sticks when I am on vacation, so those luxuries of the city are out, lol. But hey, I like the wilderness, and to each his own.

The nearest Thai that I know of works at our mess hall. Everyone calls her grandma. She came over here during the Vietnam war and has some interesting stories.

I'd much rather have my fiancee get the vaccines in Thailand to get them out of the way. One less thing to worry about and it's about $200 all said and done with the medical exam. I'm pretty sure she'd feel better about getting them in her home country as well because if anyone had to stick me in Thailand you'd better believe unless it's life or death they can forget it!

Oh man, when I first started up my fiancee's food vending business, her sister was helping her and she had the wisdom to cook up a pot of baa laa in our kitchen at 0430. I about woke up barfing and choking on the fumes. Needless to say, that never happened again smile.gif I am glad I left her something to earn some baht and to keep her busy. 1,000 baht a day is not uncommon after expenses, but it is a long day's work. (dawn-dusk, maybe longer) I thought I was the first farang in Thailand shoestringing papaya until someone mentioned to me there was a movie or something about it.

Oh, and don't let your wife mention that she is married to a foreigner to anyone that could possibly take extra money for knowing so. Often times, I'll sit outside near the motorbike somewhere and when she's settled on a price for said expensive thing, she'll call me and I'll stroll up. The storekeepers get a kick out of that one. Once her landlord found out about us, even in a long-distance relationship, rent jumped 4,000 more a month for "bogus expenses." My fiancee pays for the home with income from the food stand. I'm the biggest penny pincher you'll meet, and not wealthy by no means; I'm in the Marine Corps... so you had best believe what words I wanted to have with that fellow. However, I would be making a grave mistake in doing so smile.gif When I'm in Thailand, I'm very flexible and go-with-the-flow until someone tries to hustle my wife for being married to a farang.

When we got married in Thailand, all I did was buy dinner for the (very) extended family, provide a few cases of Thai hooch for those that wanted to get wasted and dance to the deafening music, and generally make a good impression on all the folks there that have never seen a white guy before. They like to prod you a lot smile.gif It all depends a lot on the input of the parents though, as my in-laws are very laid back Isaan folk. The sin sot is most definitely negotiable, and no face will be lost because of it. Talk it out with your future wife, you may be surprised at her reply.

Just got back from the Udon area less than a week ago myself. What part will you have the pleasure of visiting?

We'll be headed to Ko Chang the day after I get into BKK. We'll spend the weekend there, then a week in our home in Chaiyaphum and a week in Nong Khai.

Y'all have to remember that the embassy is hitting that string of lazy days between Songkran and all the extra holidays they get from the official US ones they observe smile.gif That will obviously put a stick in the spokes so to speak. There may also have been an internal issue they're trying to resolve.

Hey all, just dropping in to see where this has gone and to give an update. I'm still in AP, over three months now; super fun time to say the least. I'm sure I've miffed the embassy because I send them a message once a week and now they're not responding anymore tongue.gif I keep asking for specific info on whether it's there or kicked back to USCIS and all they'll say is that it's in AP and will be in contact when a decision is reached and that it has neither been approved nor denied. My fiancee didn't get a 221g, so I don't know what the reason for refusal is. I'm temped to just nix this K-1 and go for a K-3 instead. I might be waiting that long in AP anyway. It's turned into a straight garbage experience for both of us.

Hey all, just jumping in to update! We're still in AP at the embassy. I don't know what the holdup is, but I haven't given up hope lol. It blows cause I'm more than likely going to be deployed if and when she gets any news of this moving forward. I've sent at least one email per week to the embassy and I get the same scripted response with no real information whatsoever.

Y'all talkin about the dirtier places reminded me of when we got into bkk to get her medical done and we ended up somewhere near bumrungrad early in the morning looking for a hotel, lmao. That place was scores more raunchy than pattaya. I was embarrassed to walk through it. We ended up staying awake until the next morning when the same street looked like a closed up ghost town.

Wow this took off like a rocket. I just wanted to pop in and say that my case is still in AP @ the embassy. No word as of yet. It's quite frustrating.

As for the relationship issues, I've been lucky I guess. I've heard a number of horror stories about a select few Thai women and their hulk rage, much like my fiancee's sister has. It's had its share of ups and downs and now is a very trying time as we have planned on spending our lives together but it all teeters on the verdict of this AP. I am no stranger to stress being in the Marines and even this has me pulling my hair out. Some days I feel like it would be better if I didn't talk to her because I'm just so wound up tight about the whole situation I'd lose it.

I know it's worth the wait because she is the only girl I've been with who didn't try to change something about who I was, which is my number one put-off. I really enjoy the lack of 'mind games' with her. She doesn't hold grudges, but has an uncanny ability to tease about my goof-ups at the most 'convenient' times to put me in check. "OK, you remember that time you ....." oops! After, we have a good laugh smile.gif It makes me smile just thinking about it.

From what my fiancee experienced, it was the questions that were the easy part. Normal questions, when/where/how did you meet, how many times has he seen you/when did he come back, when do you plan on getting married. Nothing off the wall like fav color, food, or what side of the bed I sleep on. He was just overly scrutinizing of gaps in evidence (which were the times I was in Thailand and cross country for the Marines and was out of contact, but she knew this), and discrepancies from the USCIS side to the consular side. Only thing I can think of was a mis-spelling of her mother's first name on the G-325A and he basically told her that she was lying to me, what an @$$. It's bull chips and there's nothing I can do about it.

If it doesn't get approved, I'll file for a waiver and if that fails, we can marry and try again. Maybe then they'll know we are serious. We had about 30 photos of us together and with family, 20+ pages of call logs, and 20 screen shots of video chats and messenger logs. He didn't mention anything about lack of evidence, so I wouldn't sweat it. Just make sure you have ALL the required documents. Read over packet 3 and 4 multiple times. That seems to be the kicker for most people, especially if they live in northern Thailand and have to make a one-day trip to the local amphur to get anything.
