K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary Filers CSC, NSC, TSC
Hi,

I decided to start this topic, since someone on our February Filers for K-1 suggested it. They mentioned it might be easier if we had a separate place to check progress with people who had to file here and elsewhere. I didn't do this to offend anyone or anything. I am truely happy that so many people who filed at VSC have already gotten their NOA2s, and has NYgirl said "don't hate us" We don't but it is a harder situation, when the distribution of applications is so unfair...I still plan on reading the February Filers topic, since I want to know how everyone there is doing, but maybe people will want to write here, too. Best of luck to EVERYONE who filed in February, no matter where :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary Filers!
Hi, I posted this topic in my regional section, but I haven't gotten more than one piece of feedback. Any advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance. Milena.:

"Since I have so much time while waiting for our NOA2 (darn CSC) I am trying to organize all the documents for the interview. I have a list from the Moscow Embassy website. The biggest problem is this affadavit of support. On the site they say "Financial documents from the petitioner – a US citizen: please note, that Affidavit of Support (form I-134) is not required, but may be requested." I have a rather strange situation: I have lived abroad for almost 2 years now, working unofficially. I can't really file this I-134. I called the embassy and the woman who I spoke with, says I should just write a letter of explanation, just stating our situation, that we will be staying with relatives until we have work, etc. They will also be helping us, but it won't just be ONE specific person. So we don't have anyone to be a "co-sponsor" By the time we get to the interview we will have a large amount of money saved as well. We don't want him to be a public charge (obviously) and he will be working right away. I am just so nervous if her get to the interview and they deny the visa? Has anyone ever had any experience with a similar situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Milena."

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary Filers!

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! I got a letter today from the NVC. I have my case number, I actually called and spoke with a very very nice lady on the phone today as well (at the State Department) my package has already been rec'd in London at the consulate, now we just wait for packet 3 to arrive with my future husband.

I am so freaking excited!!!!!!!!!!

Congtrats.................You folks going thre VSC are getting spoiled. I think I should move!! I filed Feb. 2nd. I have given up on checking my case number and the progress of K-1 apps on the USIC site. The process date never changes. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :crying:
I am trying to be happy for you amidst my private pity party. I figure by the time you have your visa, get married and have a couple of kids, there is an outside chance that I will have a interview date. LOL>LOL.

You have put to words exactly what I have been feeling..... :crying:
In my case I'm just going to go back to the Philippines in May because I miss her so much...based on current timelines for CSC, I might have NOA2 in mid April
:crying:

I feel the same way. I am visiting Moscow in May. It doesn't make sense, if they have so few applications in VSC, to process so quickly, they should send more to them, not just depending on where we live, or at least hire more people at CSC. Seems unfair sometimes :(. Sorry I just needed to vent a little...Have a nice evening everyone. Milena.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFebruary Filers!
Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to Congratulate everyone who already has NOA1's 2s and beyond...We had to file at CSC :(((( The average time so far is 94 days...But we had the most recent touch on March 12. I hope that's a good sign, no RFEs yet, and praying there won't be any. That's my biggest worry, I didn't have anyone here who could read through our application for me :(. It's really annoying that there is such a huge difference in timelines for people who filed at CSC vs. VSC, I wish they would do something about that...Anyway, sorry for complaining. Best wishes to all the February filers! Milena

NOA1!

Hi everyone, just thought I would say that we got our NOA1 that was dated Feb. 28, to the California Service Center, It came to our US address, but since I am living in Poland, I am not sure what day exactly it got there, as my uncle was out of town. But anyway, WOW what a relief that it arrived safely from Poland, via registered air mail! Now comes the longer wait for NOA2...Good Luck and wishing fast approvals to everyone in February!

Milena :)

Hi, I sent our packet from Poland on the 21st. Has anyone had experience with using a postal money order? There is a phone number to track it, but I don't know how I can see the number they put on the back...

I am feeling a little frustrated today, as I wanted to track the package, but I can't read the number the postal worker wrote on my receipt. I am gonna have to go there and ask...I am really worried about having sent it from Poland, but since it is my actual address (I am the USC), I didn't know what to do...

I am not actually sure when the package will get there, it was sent by airmail, but I did send a form for confirmation, but it's hard to say if I will get it back...

Sorry, I just needed a place to talk about my worries... :) Good luck to everyone who is filed in February.

Milena.

Hi, my fiance is from Russia so I am really sorry I can't offer any advice. You might want to try posting this question under the regional discussion group, it's called MENA, for middle east and north africa, I think? They should be able to give you the best advice. Good luck, I hope your france gets his visa asap!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 translation of proof
Thanks for the info. Only the second part doesn't make sense. Why do I have to provide the affadavit of support when I don't live in the US at the moment, and am a student, who doesn't work, and my fiance is planning to support us? I'd appreciate some advice...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 translation of proof
Hi, I am new to this site, I am from the US, but I live in Poland, and my fiance is Russian. We will be filing our petition in February, asap. I have so many visas and invitations for visas that I want to use as proof that we met, do these invitations need to be translated from Russian?

Another question I have is about this I-134, Affidavit of Support. My fiance makes more money than I do, and will be supporting us, when he goes to the interview in Moscow can he just bring his own account information?

If anyone has done an interview in Moscow, or has any good advice about it, I would really appreciate it. The whole process seems overwhelming at times.

Thanks in advance, Milena.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresbirth certificate - foreign fiance - why?

We did not send in my birth certificate (I was the beneficiary) with our I-129F application. It was needed later at the interview stage.

We had no problems and did not get an RFE for it.

Good, I we didnt send one, didn't even think to send it since it wasn't asked for. Wow you have to be Karmac from Johnny Carson to know which way to go on some of these things.
Bobbie

I didn't send one either, I hope we won't get an RFE for it. But it's good to know that we can fax it! I would think they should just have everyone send it in the first place, in case they need it, instead of making us wait longer if they need it for SOMETHING...It would be interesting to know how often they RFE for this in each place i.e. CSC vs. VSC, etc. Sometimes I really regret that we will be living in California, and had to file there, since they are so slow, and seem to send more RFEs...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCrying!

This visa process isn't worth crying over. I had all honors in high school, and honors in the College of Engineering at the University with a double major in two related disciplines, Electrical and Computer. If this stuff is worth crying, then I would probably die at the college.

Well it's kinda easy for someone who files at Vermont to say, that the process isn't worth crying.
But if you spend months apart and you think it's finally your turn to get approved and THEN you receive a RFE or something else that causes a delay....then it 's kinda HARD to not cry.....unless, you kinda don't give a damn!
But if you feel the same for your fiance as everyone else here should feel for their partners, then you can't go through this without concerns and rough times....not saying that you have to cry...but it's an emotional hardcore situation, when your future isn't in your hand anymore, but in the hands of the government!!!
Definitely a feeling that I don't like AT ALL!!!! <_<

Diana

I completely agree with this. We aren't as far along in this process, but considering where we are filing, it's a much longer wait, and I am having a great deal of stress over preparing docs in advance for the interview, stupid I-134...we all have stress, and are missing our fiance(e)s...but when you see that people who get to file at Vermont (no offense) get through this process so much faster, and even worry when their NOA2 takes a little longer...it just makes it that much harder. I haven't cried yet. But I get frustrated when I think of all the things that could hold up the process (ie RFE) I could cry...I definitly also HATE the feeling of putting my future in the hands of the government. That said, hang in their everyone!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAn interesting "why" question...

I TOTALLY understand the anger everyone is going through who files from Texas, California and Nebraska but PLEASE don't hate us, don't envy us and definitely don't jinx us. We're all going through the same headache visa process and it's not easy to be far away from your loved one. Everyone's turn will come.

Right, and we don't hate you. :) But it was very frustrating when people in the February filers thread who mailed their I-129f after some of us did were talking about not having received their NOA2 yet when we hadn't even received our NOA1. :crying:

IMO it would help if we had separate "[month] filers" threads for Vermont filers. That way, we could all compare our progress with people who are in the same boat.

I just made a topic for everyone who filed in somewhere other than VSC in February. No offense to anyone, we don't hate you at all :) But it might be easier to track the progress this way, since by the time everyone at CSC gets their NOA2s or a little further everyone at VSC will probably be almost done, or done!
MilenkaFemaleRussia2007-03-19 07:28:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAn interesting "why" question...

We all talk about this a lot but has anyone done any research or even written the service centers or their congressman/woman about this? I would like to know the reson behind why there are people on the east sending their petitions out here to cali. slowing down our process when we could all be getting our NOA2s in just over a month if everything was evened out ya know?? Its all out of whack and someone needs to get their ###### together. I think I'll write a letter for us and find out what the damn deal is. This seems to be the longest waiting process for some of us and relationships suffer for it just because they cant get it right. After all....WE ARE PAYING FOR THIS.

Where are you planning to write to? To the USCIS in Cali? I think it's a great idea, and would like to do the same, I would think if more people wrote letter's maybe it could do something...OBVIOUSLY calling them won't tell us anything, since those people only know what they have written in front of them for the most part...I'd also like to know why people on the east have to send their petitions to Cali! They really do need to get their ##### together!
MilenkaFemaleRussia2007-03-18 11:21:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAn interesting "why" question...

I don't know if I'm "jealous" of the Vermont folks, but if the USCIS wants to make it "fair" that applications are processed/approved in the order received, you would think there wouldn't be a huge disparity between processing times at the CSC versus the VSC. 2.5 to 3 months versus 2 weeks for a couple of recent posters who filed at VSC. Ridiculous!

I have been thinking about this a lot lately, since most of the people who filed in February at VSC, have already got their NOA2s...I am so happy for them, but at the same time it seems really unfair that just because of where you live your application is processed SO MUCH slower. I think they should send more people to VSC, like those people who live closer to Vermont :) I will be living in California so this doesn't apply to me, but it seems if they sent more applications there that would speed up the process. This was an interesting "why" question which I think A LOT of people think about...Milena.

I also fail to see where this is immigration fraud. He isn't going to marry her just to be able to live and work in the US, and she doesn't have another husband...while I don't agree with her lifestyle I think we at least owe her fair advice. I would recommend seeing a GOOD immigration lawyer, but you might be fine just to leave your boyfriend in the US out of it as much as possible as others said, and use your parents as co-sponsors...

Goto places like Vietnam, Cambodia, or Thailand for loyal SO. They are traditional, and will hold long distance relationship just the same as a normal relationship!

Keep looking forward!

This is a very strange thing to say, and pretty offensive to other nationalities, as if only people from those places can handle long distance relationship! What kind of advice is that for someone who is in Andrew's situation? Andrew, best wishes in this hard time! and good luck in the future! Milena

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThink it's all over when you're visa arrives???

I wish this guy hadn't posted this kind of information. First of all this, I am just in the first stages of my visa, but I know that this site is the best thing I could have found! As many ppl have said, the rules are not easy to follow by themselves, but I think he is misleading everyone by saying that it is worthless to try and get a stamp at the POE. I guess he also hasn't read some of the nightmare stories that people have had with immigration lawyers. A lawyer is necessary MAYBE if you have a complicated situation but really... As I understand it from the flowchart on this site. The stamp is valid for 90 days, as long as the visa, a k-1 visa can be used just once, but just because you get married that wouldn't make the stamp invalid...Like other people have mentioned this is a grey area, but I wouldn't go around telling people it's worthless to try and get this stamp. As people have mentioned in other topics, this process is expensive, nothing can be for free, but it's worth it, whatever it takes, as far as I'm concerned. Almost everything he wrote is misleading, and not based on facts, as far as I can tell. We haven't been through AOS yet, but we plan on doing everything as soon as possible after arrival, just to lessen the waiting time...

Then I shall await your retraction and apology when you have actually gone through this yourself, until then if you dont like just read on till you find something that does satiate your appetite for good news.

Wow, pretty harsh, except that both of my parents are immigrants, so I know what it's like to go through this...I was just giving my opinion like everyone else. I came upon this topic trying to learn and understand the current situation, rules, etc, and was looking for GOOD information, to be prepared when the time comes. Like many ppl said you can't just expect the govt to tell you everything, this is why we have these groups. Calm down, you did make this post, so you wanted people to comment. Good luck with your process, I really hope you get approved soon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTranslation of documents
So, if the embassy website doesn't say anything to the contrary, we can use the same translations for the interview, right? I did everything for the I-129F myself for USCIS, and never got an RFE or anything. Though for the birth certificate we are taking that to a professional just in case.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdo i pay when i get the visa?
It's hard for anyone to help you if you don't have a timeline, and we don't even know which country you're from. In Moscow you have to pay $100 at the interview, when the CO instructs you to. You should put this question in the Embassy/Consulate thread...Good Luck.

I agree that for the original I-129F the amount of photos is not as important as the primary evidence you have. But I also think that more photos and trying to make more trips before the interview, would be a really good idea, as beckypua said the more the better. Good Luck!

I agree about the illegals, but I would like to think the increases are to hire more people, improve the process, etc...I can dream, can't I? If the HAD to raise the fees I wise it at least weren't such a HUGE increase! We don't even want to apply for Advanced Parole...

I had a similar situation to yours, and used a co-sponsor, we got approved, no problem, one piece of advice I can give, you still have to fill out the I-134, if you are working you still have to provide a 1040 and w-2s for 2006 OR make sure you get a paper from the IRS saying that you weren't recquired to file, it's the form 4506-T and you mark box 7. If not they can give you a 221-g for that. Also, make sure that she knows your mom's name, since they asked my fiance who the co-sponsor was "Who is....?" Hope that helps! Good Luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThe RFE Master List

Add this one to the list. The US citizen must show proof that they are a US citizen. We already know that but they are pretty picky so your birth certificate MUST show BOTH parents names. Fortunately I had already ordered the long forms and they arrived while we were waiting but my opinion is GO GET YOUR PASSPORT!!!!

I thought that we could send the copy of the passport in place of a birth certificate, I believe that was on the instructions for the I-129F? Is this correct or will I get a an RFE? Thanks, Milena.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusTo whom it may consern...

I also wanted to say that yes, I was offended not just because there are AW/RM relationships here, but also because there are also Russian women who are on this forum.

Don't forget about the Russian (FSU) Man (sponsor) and Russian (FSU) Woman (beneficiary) on here like me as well! Just I immigrated almost two decades ago as a child!

Yes, that's also true! Sorry for leaving that out. I nearly had the same situation. My mom was pregnant with me when they got to the US:)
MilenkaFemaleRussia2007-05-21 13:52:00
Russia, Ukraine and BelarusTo whom it may consern...

Secondly, I have been shocked and appalled by things I've read in this forum (VAWA and me thread, for instance). Women are often treated as chattel and unapologetically told that they're valued for their looks and even when someone tells them they value something else, they really mean they like their physical appearance. The guys with wives from the Phils get a bad rap for that stuff, but it's on full display here.

There were a lot of posts that I wanted to respond to, but this one kind of sums it up. Once again, I'm not going to waste my keystrokes in an attempt to explain the intricacies of a U.S./FSU relationship.

For you women that are on here "defending" the Russian women on this forum, (while simultaneously pointing fingers at the guys married to them) your posts alone are evidence that you haven't a clue about the mentality or psyche of the Russian woman. Without that, you most definitely have no insight what-so-ever into their relationships.

Just to give you a little insight.....

You're not "defending" American women here, or women from the Western World. (Like Canada/U.K.) You're actually defending a "woman" in general, but you're placing her into a category with yourself.... I'd be careful if I was you! You think you're getting some Springer drama from the husbands.... stir the hornet's nest of wives!!!

Just keep in mind, the women that are "in" this forum are not like you. That's why they're "in" this forum. Why you're "in" this forum, I'm still trying to comprehend. Of course, it's probably the same reason you're "in" men's athletics, physically demanding jobs, and other "traditionally male dominated" parts of life.

If you just got mad from my post.... instead of saying "Yes of course, man should have man stuff and woman should have woman stuff" then you need to also save your keystrokes and head over to the Off Topic forum to throw your popcorn.

I agree with you, Slim.

If all women from Russia are so different, and the way you describe them is pretty but insane, then why the he!! are you with them?

Excuse my ignorance, I thought people were people all over the world. Wasn't aware Russian women had been replaced with fembots.

I also wanted to say that yes, I was offended not just because there are AW/RM relationships here, but also because there are also Russian women who are on this forum. I also don't remember anyone writing, that all Russian women are insane. I don't understand the reference to fembots, I am not even sure what that is, but I also don't remember anyone writing that either. How is this post by Alex+R, supportive to Russian women?

As a Russian woman, this really offends me. Do you think that this is just a forum for American guys with Russian fiancees/wives? There is clearly so much you don't know/understand, and I don't really want to waste my time explaining it to you.
MilenkaFemaleRussia2007-05-21 11:06:00
Russia, Ukraine and BelarusTo whom it may consern...

Really? Define interloper.

How about posting on the Russian VJ forum when you are not directly involved in a Russian/American VJ?

I know I would view myself as an interloper if I went cruising through, say, the Chinese forum and posted opinions about what is going on with the people over there - but hey, that's just me. You do what you want, you're certainly entitled. I just think it is interesting that someone would feel the need to bother to cruise this forum and post their opinions when really, it has nothing to do with them, and ESPECIALLY when they get all judgmental on the posts of those who DO belong here.

It's kind of like posting a classified ad for pet snakes in an automotive category of the classifieds. Sure, you can do it, but people looking in the automotive category just are not interested in the pet snakes. They went looking in that category for a reason, and pet snakes are not it.

I never said or implied that *I* own this forum, but I would stay that it is, in a sense, "owned" by those who ARE directly involved in a Russian/America VJ. We don't come into this forum looking for the opinions of those who are not. There are plenty of OTHER forums where we can view such opinions.

Cheers!
AKDiver

We post in the Russia forum, as opposed to a more general forum, specifically because want discussion with our cohorts, not everyone under the sun. When we want input from the rest of you, we'll post in a more general forum, such as "Moving here and life in America" or something. Trust us. We'll let you know when we are interested in what you have to say.

The fact that many of us are telling you interlopers this and you continue to post here simply shows your lack of respect for how we feel. So, why would we want your disrespecting, judgmental posts? Dunno why this is so hard to understand.

Cheers!
AKDiver

AKDiver summed up exactly what I wanted to say. Thanks AKDiver!

Slim, I agree with you. It annoys me that people who don't understand Russian people or culture post on a thread about Russian/American relationships. In the end we are all just people, and like Slim said there are always issues. but culture is important, and we all have some different issues than say someone who is marrying an English person...My mother is from Russia and my father from Poland, so for me it's home. I am still rather new here, but the fact that there is a place to come where people are neutral is a nice feeling, to get some advice. What Jewel said makes sense, that it may be easier for Galya to talk about what happened on this forum than with friends or family...And really she just wanted for people who were commenting on her situation last year, to read her point of view. I never saw anyone trying to "own" a forum here by the way.

I would even try posting this in the Canada or U.K. forum, they seem pretty knowledgeable about EVERYTHING!

I agree.

In fact if I were you, I would post it anywhere in this community, not only because UK forums think they have all the anwers, but because they post everywhere, especially if they are not welcome.

That's great Russ, but wow that is close...you must be getting really excited now, just a few more days, lucky you! I am not going to Moscow again for another 3 months...When you come back you won't want to speak English :) My only contact with English these days is VJ and CNN...

I have been sitting here all day...since I am thinking I will get my NOA2 today...They have DSL in Russia, you usually buy traffic in advance, at least that's how it is in our flat, not sure how it is in Galina's home town...Are you going to take any Russian courses in university there?
