US Citizenship General DiscussionWoo-hoo!!!

Been on this board for over two years now , you are only the second person where the IO wanted to meet your spouse. I envy you, thats an average of one person per year. When applying with the marriage privilege, the spouse is very much a part of the interview, their name is on all the evidence, and if fraud is suspected, or questions on the evidence, that spouse should be there to defend themselves or at least explain it.

But its over now, both you and my wife your approved, when my wife came out with her IO, she said this is my husband, I said hello, glad to meet you, she shouldn't even turn her head and say hello back.

For us, all in all the citizen interview was not that bad, it was that I-751 procedure that really caused us a lot of stress and chasing around and wish they had an interview for that so at least you could talk to a semi-reasonable person.

LOL, wife was asked three times if she was a prostituted, each time she answered no. In away she was, I was her only customer, but instead of her getting all that money, the USCIS got it. So in effect, the USCIS was her pimp.

 Right?

Congrats to the OP

CanadaHow often to you get to see your fiance/spouse?
QUOTE (domegirl1978 @ Jun 12 2009, 09:00 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi guys. I was thinking about it last night and thought I'd post a thread asking everyone how often you get to see your fiances/spouses?

For me its usually every 3-4 months. It'll be 3 months now when i leave for Florida in 2 weeks.

I see my baby about every 6 to 7 months and we talk on the phone every night for about an hour. We both are holding up pretty good because we just believe and have complete faith that things are going to work out for us.

Hi everyone....i have a question regarding the I-129f..looking around we see other people going though this trip..who were approved around the same time as us Oct 16th and the NVC has it, completed it and forward it to the embassy for the next step...in Canada

So my question is...how do we find out if USCIS has sent to the NVC and when its going to forwarded??

thanks for any help

tony & Carol

You need to call NVC and find out. As long as you have your USCIS reciept number which begins with WAC or EAC just let NVC know so they can identify your case, and make sure you get an NVC case number if they do have yoour K-1 petition by now. Then they will tell you if they have recieved it and if they have recieved your K-1 they will tell you when it was forwarded to the embassy or they are doing additional processing. Additional processing is normal as they do a background check again. It could take 3 days or 3 weeks. But, most of the time it is really fast. Best of luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Star

Or AP could be longer... I was stuck for about 25 days in it...just don't lose hope if it happens. Eventually you will get out if it should happen...just keep calling NVC and talk to a representative, don't just go by the recordings. Live persons have more information.... Good luck!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhat happens if I do not want to remove conditions?
QUOTE (Dave-n-Oksana @ Nov 12 2009, 01:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
One option that is open to you that I have not seen yet is this. If you are afraid for your life or well being from you wife, call the police and have her removed from your home, and then press charges. Followed by filing for a restraining order. This will help create a foundation for divorce and getting her safely out of your life. If nothing else, the next time she goes on one of these fits, remain calm and dial 911.

Abuse is abuse no matter if it is verbal or physical and today's police are supposed to be trained to recognize this. And do not feel that just because you are the man, that none will believe you.

P.S. Maybe a pysche exam is needed for your wife. Depending on state laws, you can have her committed if you feel she is a danger to herself or others.

Dave

Yes! Maybe he can have her 302. Put in a psych ward! I'd try to handle the abuse issue first.

QUOTE (ImWaiting @ Nov 12 2009, 10:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Wow, Wow.. brings back memories

The fact maybe, you are currently being manipulated to accept her past sufferings. You are not entitled of any of her past situations. If she really loves you she will seek professional assistance.

Yes, you have worked hard to be where you are.. Divorce may take away from you half of what you owned, but continuing in this situation will cost you more, will cost your health and who know, even your life..

Accepting all she says to avoid arguing is not the solution, you are just giving her the right to continue. Emotionally manipulating you.. you will be emotionally affected after this and you need to get professional help too, nothing wrong with that..

Do what is right for you, get the police involved.. file a report, get a lawyer, do it now that you are on time.. Later my friend, it will cost you a lot more, A LOT MORE..

I don’t recommend what I did as we are all different, but I lllow ex to keep almost 100% of what we had.. she kept the house, the car.. and we split our bank accounts.. and at the end, I ended paying some of her debts.. yeah, very stupid of me you guys may say.. But I don’t regret it, believe me I dont.. my peace of mind is worth more than money and material things.. It took me some time to get back on my feet, but here I am..

Be Blessed...

I think this was very good advice. Peace of mind is worth more than material things, so you weren't stupid at all. When you do good things, good things come to you good.gif

The OP must stand up for his own wellbeing. Time to be proactive, not passive. Get legal advice on removing her from your home (you mean it's not jointly owned??) and go from there.

I am 55 years old. I am retired military. I worked my whole life to be where I am today. It is so tempting to act as I would have when I was younger. But, I have learned that it is true, "He who laughs last, laughs best!" I tolerate her for now.

After we were married, I learned that her family abandoned her on the streets of Brazil at about the age of 12. The behavior she now exibits shocks me every single day! I can not believe that someone can treat another person as she does, if they once really loved them!

I just want her out of my house and my life. I have never tolerated such behavior before! However, she makes it quite clear that she will never leave my life without destroying as much as possible before she goes.

Let us be realistic. We live in the USA. For all its good points, it treats men terribly when it comes to domestic issues. If she were to accuse me of abuse now, I would be guilty immediately! And, she would have all she needed to destroy all I have built all my life!

I think the only way out of this without much damage, is to tolerate her for another 4 months! And, then, after her green card expires, I can call the police and have her removed with little difficulty!

This will actually help her, in the end. She will learn that sometimes people can be smarter than she is!

Listen Mr. Jimmy, just because your 55 years old and a retired military man doesn't mean you can't protect yourself. For Christ sake you were in the military Use that to your advantage!!!!! *wink* You definitely need to seek legal counsel (behind her back) because you don't want to futher provoke her. At the very least, ask the police what you could do in a situation like this, and last but not least and I apologize for saying it this way, but sometimes the truth hurts ...... man up, gets some balls and handle your business! She is not good for your well being and you've worked to hard all your life to establish what you have just to have to give half of it away to a woman who treats you like the scum at the bottom of the pond!!!!

I wish you lots of luck and you are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you! heart.gif

Hi Everyone,

I am a new member to Visa Journey. But, I must say this site has been very helpful to me. My fiance and I just completed the first step of the K-1 process. He was approved and is scheduled to arrive in January 2010. I am stuck of what is the next step. I know that we need to marry in 90 days. But, once that happens what is next? I think I am suppose to file for an adjustment of his status. What form number is that, what exactly does that entail. Do I need to submit the marriage certificate with the form.

Lastly, can we still get married at Justice of the Peace, if he does not have a social security number.help, Help. I am totally confused about the next step/prcoess. unsure.gif unsure.gif

***************************************************
I just completed the first step of the K-1 process.

Keep in mind it is not the visa that is approved, it's the application that has been approved. You still have to go thru NVC (National Visa Center) and on to the Embassy. Please fill in your timeline because it helps others to see where you are in the process and how they can help answer your questions.
***************************************************
He was approved and is scheduled to arrive in January 2010

Where is he scheduled to come to? The US? I highly doubt it because he didn't go thru the above that I mentioned.

What date is on your NOA? I would wait about 2 weeks after the date and start calling NVC to see if they have received your case. You will need your case number off your NOA2.
There is more after this but I don't want to give you too much at once and confuse you.

If I can be of futher assistance, let me know. You should also join the yardie thread. Very helpful sistas in there!

Good luck! star_smile.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionDMV Investigations Won’t Issue Drivers License
In Pennsylvania the DMV has a fact sheet. On the fact sheet it tells you what class visa, ex. K-1, F-1 etc... It tells you what documents you need to bring to apply for a license or a state id.

When my husband and I went to apply for his state id, they had to send his info to Harrisburg before they could allow him to have a state id.

The agencies don't talk to one another. Its a sin.

Good luck.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionROC for 2012

Hi Tee,

To answer your questions..... NO affidavit of support is required for ROC..... and MAYBE for the interview - there is a possibility that you will get requested for an interview, but majority of people DO NOT. There is no way in telling who or why people get chosen for interviews. (Please note, those applying for the ROC Waiver - divorce or death of USC - will be requested for interview).

From now till next year, just keep up with the "joint" stuff - make sure you get things like joint health insurance, lease agreements, car insurance, life insurance, bank accounts, etc. Also, if you will not be working but rather in school, make sure you put the USC spouse's name as the "emergency contact" for your school, and have your school print you out a confirmation of this... ive seen this included on the evidence list for other folks going through ROC.

Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone, yes this helps alot! My mind is at ease and hubby is the emergency contact on EVERYTHING! :)
We may get another interview and I will be prepared for that we have a 16 yr age difference!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionROC for 2012
Hi, Im pretty sure this has been asked before but I can't seem to find it so bear with me. We are due to ROC next year (Nov. 2012) and I know that it has to be done at a certain time. We have plenty of proof of co-mingling of assets but Im not sure if I will be working next year. My husband is the beneficiary. Im in school and will graduate in May 2012. Do we use an affidavit of support and if so, what if we don't meet the poverty requirements? My husband is working and we will have the fee to file. We were interviewed during the AOS stage, is it possible that we will be interview again for ROC?

Thanks for the help.

or less than 5 months smile.gif I used to base my expectations on the processing timelines they stated, and I was really surprised to get NOA2 in 4 months, I was expecting at least 6 months, I was unprepared then thus setting my interview appointment a month after. So, just ready all the papers coz once you get NOA2, its all gonna happen so fast smile.gif Good luck smile.gif

This is REALLY good to know because like you I received mine in 4 months so Im getting everything in order now. Thank you for the encouragement.

The website said the exact same thing during our waiting period, but we got the NOA2 in almost exactly 5 months to the date from the NOA1. We had most of our interview documents together, but it still caught us by suprise. You can see in my timeline a slightly bigger gap between the NOA2 and the interview then in some others profiles. This is mostly due to being caught off guard. laughing.gif

I just wanted to encourage everyone to keep hope alive. It took 4 months from the time we filed our first NOA to now the 2nd NOA...Please stay blessed and encouraged.

I understand your frustration. They really have no method to how they do things. I hope the best for you and your SO. We gotta hang in there. They keep telling me that Im in "additional processing". We've also been gathering up all the documents we will be needing in the meantime and just planning our wedding. that was a wake up call to me.. i had become the very thing i preached against lol.. letting life get in the way of SHOWING my husband how much i appreciated him.., "to my husband and I".. its not the THOUGHTS that count lol.. we both are DEMONSTRATIVE lovers, that need the special moments and paying attention to and EFFORT..
im doing much better these days.. another reason communcition is the key.. we could have went on for years like that and i didn't think nothing was wrong.. we still had date night, still had sexy parties all the dyam time LOL.. but he needed more..

Yep Q, I just try to help him ease his fears and worries. He gonna be alright!

This is totally my problem as well! I over think everything!!!!

Well you need to stop it!!!! :bonk:

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaYardie Party!!! Come as you are - Part 1

well you know tee, roger used to always get info on the controversy from me, so he didn't like it, another vjer husband and roger finally broke it down to us that we were always telling them about the bad that some ja husbands were doing and they thought it was filling our minds with negativity about ja/us relationships :bonk: i was like dang,NOOO WAYYYY there is sooooo much positivity and hope and learning that takes place.. i gotta start telling him all the GOOD stuff so he will understand we not just bashing our men..but he also don't like that i tell so much on vj   so how can anybody ever be built up if everybody jus stay quiet???? i know i was blessed by the "talkers" that came b4 me, like gil, shemmy, stonelove, marlita,kimmy.. i know its everyone right to not talk or talk, but i appreciate and DONT HATE on anybody that can provide insight and encourage and even warn..i love to hear ya'll big up ya man... don't stop!!!!!!!!!!!

yardie thread 4 LIFE!!!!

I couldn't agree with you more, but with him I do tell him the good stuff. I think in his mind he thinks that I will fuss at him if for example he doesn't have a bubble bath ready for me like roger did for you. He needs to come on here and get some good tips instead of thinking that its all negative.

Im a talker too... shoo its in my nature. I do however try to steer clear of negative things that happen in our marriage, I just sort of deal with it my own way....or when I do its because I need another point of view on the matter. I just feel sometimes my husband puts too much thought into things that may not even be there to begin with. He overthinks...

Aww such sweet words to say about you hubby and good job Roger!
Oooh I love two strand twists.. thats how I started my locs :)
Im glad you are feeling better :)

Hubby and I were talking last night and he was saying that he knows VJ is a place for Immigration stuff, but that we all chat too much because if we sing praises about something our mate did for us, it might cause conflict with another couple. I told him, that's life. Even in real life people may get jealous of things that happen in another's relationship, or it could have the opposite effect. People can learn from one another. It just depends on how one processes it... Then I wanted to :bonk: him on the head for talking about our VJ family when he don't even come on to see what is what, he probably getting second hand info..... Cho!

morning all

Hey Bajan! Tell us how things went....

Goodmorning to the yardie vj fam,

I need to keep up with the responses, as I realize the old thread closed, but its a blessing to see another day here. I celebrated my wife birthday august 6th and we had a good time and by the way aug 6th is ja independence day.

Iam still waiting to hear from the uscis noa for my step daugther and I can't wait to hear from them for it has been 50 days the paper filed.I just can't to go back to ja with my wife for our child.

Well happy belated birthday to wifey. Den's Wifey has to help you with the ATL info on jamaican stores... I hope you hear something soon in regards to your child's application.

My wife misses ja dishes. In birmingham, there is no jamaican stores. I hear atlanta has a jamaican store. I need to know if has the yams, bananna, salt fish, bread, pattie, curry spices, carrot juice.

Are there any spanish stores? They sell things that are very similiar to Jamaican things....

Not sure if any remember me at all. I was a part of the first original group back in the day. I will miss the old name but don't have time to come on here much anymore. So have fun partying it up on your adventures. Life is super busy these days. I just wanted to thank all the VJ sisters who wished me a happy birthday and anniversary today on facebook. I am getting old like dh would say and time has flown by. Celebrating 4 years of marriage bliss and 12 1/2 years of friendship. I wish everyone happiness on their visa journeys. God Bless and One Luv.

Hi Belwin... I wasn't part of the old group but I remember you poppin on from time to time. I have you as a friend on FB and again, I wanted to wish you a happy birthday and anniversary! Wanted to wish you nothing but happiness and continued success in your marriage. It's always nice to see a Yardie marriage doing so well and standing the test of time. (F) It gives us newbie marriages such hope. Good luck to you with your life journey :)

Congrats Caramel!!! I hope you will come back and let us know what you are having and not be like JQ (evil eye to her).

Jess and Tee you both feel better? I hope so.

Bajan!!! Right about now you are either on the edge of your seat waiting for hubby to come off the plane or in his arms. So happy tonight is the start of together (physically) forever. Enjoy!!

Good evening all!

Thanks Brooke. I still have a cold but its no where near as bad as last week. Thanks for asking! Oh and I wanted to tell you, I was doing some research online to see if my Pennsylvania licensure (teaching) would be accepted in Florida and it does! Woooo hoooooooo. I printed out the steps it would take for me to do it so when the time comes I am ready...
