PhilippinesSt. Luke’s Medical Exam Walkthrough
This post is so informative that I had to reread it the night before my medical. Kudos to the OP! The first day of my medical was on June 9 and I got there at 6:20 am. Everything went smoothly but I encountered a delay when it came to my vital signs. The nurse had to redo my HR and BP so that set me back a tad. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and didn't eat breakfast since I was in such a hurry. I was so cranky that morning. The nurse asked me if I was nervous and I said no and then she looked at me all startled because my initial BP was at 130/90 and my HR was at 140. (I actually felt it pulsating. lol.) I calmed down, drank heaps of water and talked to the lady next to me then I had my vital signs checked again. The second nurse I encountered was really pleasant and I shared a few laughs with her. My vital signs were normal the second time around. After all that, I went to the immunization area and upon my name being called, the guy who handed me the vaccination paper smiled at me and asked to see my tattoos. I looked at him and peeked at the monitor. He was reading the notes of my physical exam! Posted Image I thought there was patient-doctor confidentiality? lol. I didn't mind showing him my tattoos but what if there were sensitive details in there? Well... He and everyone else with access to the computer would know. Manong guard too! lol. Anyway, I was done at around 4:40-4:50 pm and they told me to return on June 11, Friday. (I expected them to tell me to return the day after but I didn't mind it.)

The lady I talked to drove all the way from Pangasinan just for her interview and she had color coding the day after so she had to get a hotel room and buy clothes at Robinson's. She was really nice. :D

I returned on Friday for at 7:00 am or so for my 8:00 am appointment. I brought a book with me and accomplished reading half of it because of the long wait. lol. My name was finally called at 10:30, I got my Tdap and MMR shots at 11:30 then proceeded to the releasing area and wrapped it all up at 12:30. I finished sooner than some of the people who arrived before me because according to the nurses, the shots aren't based on a first come first served basis but rather, the type of shots that you need. Same thing applies for the releasing area. The less paperwork they have to carry out, the sooner the results.

Oh oh oh! Just when the nurse was going to give me my Tdap shot, he calmy went, "Sorry ah, masakit." So I looked at him and before I could even react to what he said, I went "ayeeee" and my toes curled. lol. I survived! The injected area is still sore and bruised but it'll eventually subside. :)

Good luck to those with impending medicals! :D
Next hurdle, the interview! Posted Image

Really? BAM! ...And then came the baby. lol. I was never a kid-kid. If you know what I mean. I didn't enjoy playing with other kids. I liked my tea set, dolls and yaya. lol. I didn't like getting dirty. I grew out of it though I'm still a germophobe. Posted Image

Kids like me too! It was so funny because my friends' siblings would end up crushing on me and they were usually 10 or younger. Gee, what an attraction! lol.

I have to study again but I don't mind it since I can work and study at the same time. It's a passion of mine and I'm keen on pursuing it. I want to be a kindergarten teacher so I have to look for private schools that are hiring. Hey, corporate is the way to go! If you want promotions and growth then I believe it's most efficient in that field. Advertising is a lucrative field as well but it's always good to invest in your forte. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I'm sure you'll land one! Posted Image

Salamat! Libre kita dito, libre mo ako sa NY. Posted Image

Thanks Aurora! Posted Image

Well, i HATED kids but they love me. They love me too much that God decided to give me one. hahaha.

I want to teach too! But that means I'd have to study again. My friend took some classes before leaving PI so she can teach in the States. It took her 6 months to get a job, considering in demand ang teachers sa States. Kaya goodluck sa akin! I'm planning to continue what I've been doing here. I want to continue climbing up the corporate ladder but do a lateral transfer. I want to do more of strategic planning than sales. Ayun, hopefully, makakuha agad ng trabaho.

I read in your post na you got approved na!!! congrats!!!! libre! libre!

Babies are always a blessing so whether or not they're expected, they're welcome with open arms! Posted Image As much as I love babies, I can't handle one right now. It's nice to know how happy you are with that little booger. lol.

I actually want to pursue education in stead since I have a passion for teaching and I was only pressured to go to med school in the first place. Oh! I took grade 7 so I graduated two years later than you did. What do you plan to do when you get to the States?

Yep, I got preggy when I was 22. My son's 15 months old na =)

Well, Matt (our son) came to us by surprise. I was in Abu Dhabi at that time and F (my hubby) came to visit for a month but ended up not leaving because I got pregnant. So yeah, the "Just Us Two" plan didn't work out. hahaha. But we couldn't be any happier. Matt's our little booger.

So you're gonna continue Med school in the States? Christine Palma? Nah. I graduated from high school in 2003. I remember na my friend's sister's name. It's Joyce. She might be a batch higher than you though.

Young mommy! That's pretty cool, actually. How old is your son? I want to keep Jordan all to myself for a few years and build stability before we even think of having babies. I'm not ready. Posted Image Oh! The one next to Palm Village? I was supposed to attend DLSU too but I planned to go to med school after so my mom told me to attend UST in stead which I did. Funny cuz the eldest is from ADMU, the next, DLSU, then there's me and the two little ones are still in school. hihi. Hmm.. Her name doesn't ring a bell but this is nice to hear. Meron ako classmate in UST from CSR. Christine Palma?

^^^
I'm 24! I didn't go to CSA, i went to CSR (near Rockwell) for grade school then St. Paul Pasig for high school. Then for college, I went to DLSU. Ikaw? I have a lot of friends who went to CSA. I think ka batch mo yung sister ng friend ko. My friend's Yvette Medina. I forgot the sister's name eh.

Yeah, I think so too. I turned 23 a few months ago. Glicos was the bomb! I enjoyed the school bus and put-put the most! lol. I attended Colegio San Agustin cuz it was conveniently situated in the village I lived in. Yourself? Aww you guys have a son! No kids for Jordan and I just yet. Probably 5 years from now. hihi. I'll be staying in LA with my fiance. We just need to get this waiting period over and done with.

i guess we're both in the same age bracket. We might have even gone to the same school! I used to go to Quad all the time. GLICOS was the place to be! Haha. Anyway, hubby and I, together with our son are planning on leaving right after Christmas this year and live in NY permanently.

Oh yeah? That's awesome. I grew up in Makati so Glorietta (Quad in the olden days hihi) was my playground. I moved to BF Homes eventually before attending college. I got a blue slip so now I'm waiting to hear from the Embassy. This process is emotionally draining. Are you staying here with the hubby for good? Bona fide city girls! lol. I hope all is well with you and the hubby.

Thanks for the well wishes!

I'm Toni and I was born and raised in Makati, otherwise known as the "The Business Capital". I grew up in a village where I was cooped up in the house and had little to no interaction with my neighbors so all I can recall was my exposure to lanky buildings and the cacophony of noise due to motorists. I guess you can say that I'm a bona fide city girl and damn proud of it. LOL.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQUESTION ABOUT G-325a
Okay, I'm starting the paperwork for the K-1 visa and I'm looking at this site and the USCIS site. The G-325a forms have on both sites says the it expires on 5/31/09 on the top right corner, so anybody that has filed recently, does it matter if it's expired or not? How long will it take for the USCIS to put up a new version of the G-325a? I just want to get this taking care of because I'm going to see my girl in the Phils. in late August and I want her to fill them out there, and if there are any couples that are from California/Philippines, and have been or going through this process please be on my friends list so I could ask questions to you.

Thank you.

Hihihi.. You'r e funny Tahoma and thanks. :P

Hey, I recently got my medical and I seriously spent 98% of the time waiting so I was lucky enough to have a book in my bag! lol. (If you want to pass the time, bring a book, or a psp. I used my ipod for a bit but that just had me exert twice as much effort into hearing for my name to be called. lol.) Please do bring crackers. I was chewing gum the whole day! lol. I got to my medical at 6:20am the first day and finished at 4:40pm. I got delayed a tad cuz the nurse had to repeat my HR and BP. I was very cranky that day. :D lol. On my second day, I arrived at 7:20 for my 8am appointment. My name was called at 10:30, received my 2 shots at 11:30 and I was out of there by 12:30. It's rather chilly inside so listen to Tahoma and bring a jacket! And uhm... Keep the first and last date of your period in mind. Tahoma's right! Bring a pen with you and make sure it isn't a sign pen. Manang guard at the 5th floor is entertaining. :) If you have tattoos like me, be ready to get scrutinized even more during the physical for needle contamination. No biggie. ;)

Good luck with your journey! (Post at the Filipino regional forum so you'll get more specific help.)

Good advice! And don't forget to: bring a pen, wear a jacket (it's cold in there), wear comfortable shoes (lots of walking up and down the stairs), and hide a snack in your purse (you will get hungry). Don't worry...manang guard won't look! :)

Your fiancee will need 3pcs of 2x2 photos with a white background for her medical at SLMEC. They will take a digital photo of her after she fills up her PDS form. Tell her to bring the email confirmation letter, passport and to take note of her Manila Case Number as well as the interview date because they will ask for it.

Good luck! :)

Toni

Hello again fellow VJ members. I am currently waiting for my I-129F to be approved (crossing fingers) and wanted to get a head start in helping my fiancee in the Philippines prepare for her Visa interview. She's basically starting from scratch in the entire process. So I'm trying to outline what she should do in order from getting her NSO stuff to getting her Visa. Please let me know if this is correct or if I missed some steps or if I went out of order for the whole process. Thanks again in advance for all the support.

Fiancee To Do List

1. Visit NSO (Birth Cert & Cenomar)
2. NBI Clearance
3. Apply for passport
4. Take passport style photos (3 total) (2 for interview & 1 for medical)
5. Fill out DS-156, DS-157 and DS-156K forms (2 copies of each)
6. Pay Visa Fee $350 (equivalent to PHP)
7. Medical Exam at St. Lukes, Manila $213.35 (equivalent to PHP)
8. Schedule Visa Interview??

I might be missing a few things or might be out of order (especially steps 6-8). BTW, I will be providing her with ALL the supporting documentation (pics, letters, copies of everything, I-134, etc) through express mail. Basically just want her to take care of the important stuff. Hope you guys can help me out! Look forward to the responses.

Be sure to have at least 3 months worth of pay stubs. I suggest that you bring the employment letter from your part time job and have your fiancée explain to the consul that you have a full time job as well.

They just want proof of your employment. Bring pay stubs from both jobs to prove that. You don't want to end up with a blue slip like I did. It's such a hassle.

Good luck!

Did you get a 221g form? I was asked for pay checks since my fiancé didn't send me any. I had my interview on July 1st. I'm now tracking my visa and it's on the way to me. I'll probably get it by tomorrow. Anyway, did you email the Embassy? That's what I did and I called a least once a week. (I only waited 5 working days for my approval.) I learned about my approval by calling the Embassy a week after I submitted the lacking document. You should be able to track the visa online after 10 working days upon submission of your additional evidence.

This link might help you. http://www.visajourn...stained-income/

Here's the number: 3012000 press 7 then 5184 or 5185 then press the number sign. You can email the Embassy at: ConsManilaNIV@state.gov
You will receive an automated message but someone will get back to you after a couple of days. I got a response from the Embassy and I was informed about the issuance of my visa.

Good luck!

I was given the same form since the consul requested for pay checks which I didn't have. He said that I passed the interview but then couldn't issue me a visa yet because of the missing document. You can refer to my timeline. I basically received my visa 10 working days after submitting the lacking document. I got the following excerpt from my blog. I figured that maybe I could help someone out through it. You might want to check out this link. http://www.visajourn...stained-income/

If you pass the interview then congratulations! However, if you lack a certain document, you will receive a 221g form like I did. Submit the evidence as soon as possible and check on your case status once a week. You can contact the Embassy regarding Non-Immigrant concerns at 3012000 press 7 then 5184 or 5185.

Remember, the approval will be based on the preponderance of evidence you submit.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS 156K send I-134?
In the U.S. Embassy in Manila, we pass all these papers at once so all those things I previously mentioned were included in my file.

Anyway, you'll need an I-134 filled up by the petitioner and then the updated letter of intent plus additional photos and an employment letter. From my understanding, the letter of intent needs to have his original signature on it. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Faxed copies, I'm not sure of so hopefully someone on here can clarify that for you. I don't see why not though. The ITR's and W2's can be copies as well as the pay stubs.

I understand I need all of the above for the interview but im just asking about what to send in with my DS 156k...I dont want to send them a bunch of stuff they dont need...i know people get annoyed with extra papers...so I just want to make sure i send in what they want.

so copy of I 134 and updated letter of intent is all? or should i also send in some more photos and the letter from his employer?
if im sending copies...can my fiancee just fax me everything?

JORDANTONI09MalePhilippines2010-08-11 10:21:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS 156K send I-134?
It's not mandatory to include receipts of the engagement ring's purchase or photos of that. I don't have an engagement ring and it was never brought up during the interview. Supply the consul with photos of you and your petitioner. 10 photos should suffice. You can also provide chat logs, video call logs, emails, snail mail. Documents that prove that you have an ongoing relationship.

For the evidence of financial support, you should submit the I-134, petitioner's employment letter, recent pay stubs, W2's and ITR's. I brought two years worth of W2's and ITR's but the consul only asked for the recent ones. ('09)

I brought copies to the interview. I even had copies of the original petition just in case the Embassy misplaced the papers. Bring an updated Letter of Intent to Marry. Some say that it's not required but I presented mine at the top of my "Evidence of Existing Relationship" folder. The only originals I submitted at the interview were the police certificate, birth certificate and CENOMAR.

Hi, a few questions questions here...

In the DS 156K after question 5 it says: the following documents must be attached in order to apply (birth cert, police cert, evidence of engagement, evidence of financial support.

For the evidence of engagement, would that be photos of the engagement, and the ring ..?
For evidence of financial support. Would that be my fiancees I 134, and letter from his boss + pay stubs? If so, I guess he should fill it out and send me copies?

I'm assuming copies of everything is ok and i bring the originals to the interview?

Thank you for your help and God bless
